Delicious kibbeling, friendly staff

We've been to Domburg far more than 15 times. However, the restaurant's somewhat gloomy exterior always deterred us. Today, we were "perhaps" persuaded to go in... and we were absolutely thrilled! The food (three different fish dishes) was delicious. Cooked to perfection... and the side dishes were tasty! The portions were also generous. The atmosphere was pleasant... we felt welcome at all times, and the friendly and attentive service was truly noteworthy! Absolutely perfect! In our opinion, the "Red Lion" deserves a much higher rating. It can not only compete with the "big" restaurants in Domburg, but truly surpass them!!! We were extremely pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back. Hence this heartfelt review! Thank you!!! Great team!!!

The food (schnitzel) was disappointing. In my opinion, it had nothing to do with culinary skill. The service was very inattentive. We were very annoyed and certainly won't be coming back.

I was standing on the right side of the takeaway stand and was rudely confronted when I asked if I could pay with cash! Very unfriendly and outrageous service!

Got a sandwich and a snack and a can of drink. Very poor service, the lady behind the counter was extremely unfriendly. We asked for some sauce and were taken aback for not ordering it... We definitely won't be back!

This review is difficult for me to write. The food is the best thing about the restaurant; the kitchen staff clearly know what they're doing. The service, however, is atrocious. We went twice, and even though the place was far from full, it took 20 minutes to get a menu. This continued throughout the evening. They were also completely inflexible when it came to making changes. I expect more from restaurateurs who genuinely want to offer hospitality. The ambiance, with its play area, is more like a daycare center.

We've been going to Zeeland for many years and De Roode Leeuw is always a favorite. The food is delicious, the staff is very friendly, and our Bernese Mountain Dog was always welcome.

It's a shame the vegetables in the mixed grill were way overcooked, leaving them looking a bit wilted. The salad wasn't anything to write home about either. The staff were very friendly!

Had a wonderful lunch on the terrace. I had the smoked salmon salad. Highly recommended. The food was delicious, and the passion fruit lemonade was also very good. The staff were young, but very professional and friendly.

We went to the takeout and the restaurant once. The service was rather unpleasant; our daughter was rudely scolded for holding onto the counter. Typical chip shop food.

I picked up fries and snacks, the selection is poor. The ordering computer is still there from the coronavirus era, in the sun, so you can barely see what you're typing. The staff is yelling at an older couple who understandably don't quite understand the ordering computer. Next time I'll drive to Oostkapelle for fries.

The food is really good. But it's not cheap.

Two years ago, we discovered this restaurant while spending a day in Zeeland with friends. This year, we're on vacation in Kortgene and drove all the way to Domburg specifically for this restaurant. Why? You might think... For the freakshakes. Our kids absolutely love them! A milkshake completely decorated with all sorts of treats. But it's not just the freakshakes that are recommended. They have a varied menu and a fantastic interior! The slightly elevated terrace is also a wonderful place to enjoy the sun and all the delicious food they have. So, a big 5 stars from us!

When we politely asked for a table, we received a very unfriendly response. We didn't eat or drink anything there.

The mussels on the terrace were delicious! A major drawback was that smoking was taking place at all the tables around us (even while we were eating). Smoke was literally blown into our food, which left a nasty aftertaste. I really don't think this is acceptable these days, especially not with young children at the table. We really need to raise awareness about this!

Ordered a milkshake cappuccino, received a caramel one. I complained, and got it back with the reply that the flavor was cappuccino, but it was just decoration. Not a hint of cappuccino flavor, €6.50 😕

This is the third time I've eaten here. I have celiac disease and have to follow a gluten-free diet. The kitchen and staff are knowledgeable and will even convert gluten-containing dishes to gluten-free. Before anything is served, they check the menu—for example, the ice cream was listed as gluten-free. The kitchen checked and found that the new product contained gluten. So, after consulting with them, it was replaced. The food is super delicious, arrives hot at the table, and is beautifully presented. We'll be back next time we're in Domburg.

Not recommended, takes a long time although it was very teacher and food was not so good

A truly beautiful restaurant on the main artery of Domburg. We've never been to Domburg before and chose this restaurant based on its appearance. We haven't regretted it. We've rarely experienced such friendly and courteous service. And, above all, attentive. The chef also seems to have mastered his craft. Everything was delicious and the portions were very generous. The prices are completely reasonable. In any case, you can eat well here, drink well, and watch the crowd. If you're in Domburg, you should definitely stop by. It's worth it.

The burgers and especially the fries are top-notch. We paid €20 for everything. The wait was about 5-10 minutes, but everything was fresh. The price/performance ratio was 100% right. We got the food to go since the beach was a 3-minute walk away. The atmosphere was breathtaking! 👍🏻

I only went to the takeaway place to the right of the restaurant. It was expensive, unappetizing, and unfriendly. I liked the ordering machine, easy to understand, but a bit impersonal. The staff aren't great at squabbling with other people; no friendly words, no "hello," no "your food is coming soon," or even a simple goodbye. The food was okay, but nothing more. And a croquette for €4.30. I was there for the last time.

This review refers only to the street vendor window! Ordering is quick and easy via touchscreen and debit card; you can also order directly from the staff and pay in cash. When the number on the receipt is called, you'll receive your freshly fried food. If you like all the fried, fatty stuff and all the specialties like frikandel, kaskroket, and bitterballen, then this is the place for you 🤤

What happened to the soft serve? It was a tiny amount, and it was completely watery. The quality has deteriorated. Zero creaminess and zero flavor.

Don't make this mistake! After the (correct) decision has been made for a schnitzel (mushroom cream sauce with it is also the correct option), the next question arises: 200g or 400g? Even if you're not a glutton, 200g isn't doing you any favors. With such a delicious schnitzel, no one in their possession likes to stop eating after 200g!

To end a day in Domburg, we had a bite to eat here at the beginning of the evening. Excellent food, son had a huge cup of tomato soup with large pieces of bread, the bread board with 3 spreads was a good size. My and my wife's main courses (a lion burger/cheeseburger) are of the following category: big food, otherwise you won't finish it, nice amount of fries with it; excellent price/quality ratio. Long story short: great food for a great price!

I went to get some fries and snacks for 2 people. I was immediately barked at by an old lady. I have visited quite a few snack bars. Never experienced this before. Is this the owner? Fries were small, mostly hard pieces and way too expensive.

Unfortunately, the chip shop is very bad and unfortunately it is one of the last remaining ones in town. Our fries were all very small, unsalted and therefore tasteless. Employees are overwhelmed and cannot deliver the entire order. Added to this is the relatively high price. This review applies exclusively to the french fries shop!

Incredibly beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly and the food is beautifully served. The spare ribs are recommended, they really taste great. As a German foreigner you also got free WiFi so you could translate the entire Dutch menu. Top!

On the side of the restaurant towards the beach, there is another one, I call it a French fries flap. Although there are staff there, you have to enter your order at a terminal and pay.
