Simply excellent in every way. The service was friendly, fast, and welcoming. The food is simply good and reasonably priced.

Last Friday, a group of 22 Soroptimists had a Christmas dinner at De Smidse. We were seated upstairs, so it was nice and private. We had a wide selection of starters and main courses: vegetarian, fish, or meat. A large brownie was included with coffee as a bonus. The service was fantastic! They were very helpful, and I received enthusiastic messages from the ladies afterward. Highly recommended. Oh, and everything was stylishly decorated for Christmas.

We used the €25 menu here. Does such a thing still exist, and is it worth it? The answer to both is yes. See the photos for yourself. The menu that accompanies this menu is extensive. First of all, it consists of three courses: starter, main course, and dessert. Each course offers at least eight options, including vegetarian options. We had a mixed starter for two, and for the main course, pork tenderloin in wild mushroom sauce, accompanied by a generous portion of large fries. We each finished off with our own delicious dessert. Naturally, we had some drinks. Not haute cuisine, but surprisingly good and tasty, and more than enough for us. Note: This menu is only served on Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays. We loved it! Update 20/11/25. The menu still exists. And several people have discovered this. This means you'll have to be a bit more patient before the next course appears. A quick bite here only makes sense if you arrive early. But why would you go to a restaurant for a quick bite? Too bad, isn't it?

Very pleasant and well-attended. We had the balance of tenderloin pieces. These were presented on the salad like satay on a stick. The taste was good, but some pieces were tough, with fat or a bit of muscle. Tenderloin? But still worth it.

Great food for a great price. The service was terrible, though. I ordered drinks before the main course, but when it was finished, I went to the bar to get them myself. She was calmly clearing away the clean dishes (while she had already taken the drink order).

A lovely place to sit and have lunch. Friendly, fast service. I often get the feeling of being in an old train station restaurant, especially indoors. The coffee was great, the coke was excellent, the sandwich with brie was delicious, the 12 o'clock service was simple but good (you can also get a croquette for an extra 25 cents). The mini omelet was a nice find. Inexpensive and just delicious, regular food and drinks without being trendy.

Where else in the Netherlands can you get a three-course meal for €25? Well, at De Smidse! We ordered a goat cheese salad, beef tenderloin satay (an extra €2.50), and the Eton Mess for dessert. We also ordered warm vegetables as an extra. If you think you'll get small portions, well, you're not. We were stuffed. The food was delicious, the portions were more than generous, and the service was friendly and fast!

A very nice, large beer garden with a courtyard atmosphere. The interior is also very quaint. The food was excellent and the prices were really reasonable. The menu is fantastic: 3 courses for €25.

After many years, I sat here again for a cup of coffee. The coffee was good, but the rest was disappointing. Dirty tables, as well as the menu, covered in food. Cigarette butts all over the floor. Unfortunately, unfortunately. The waiter with his pants halfway down his backside didn't promise much either. All in all, not good. Perhaps the food is good.

Smart move: a cappuccino for €1.50. We also had lunch there.

The food was truly delicious! Definitely a place to return to. It's a shame the drinks didn't arrive until after the meal, perhaps due to a lack of staff...?

We waited 45 minutes for a single serving of fries and the beers we ordered did not arrive. The waiters did not really care to serve anyone anything, and the process was extremely slow. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I get the impression things aren't going so well at De Smidse. Last time I was there, a patio chair fell apart—with a toddler sitting on it. And this time I ordered a limoncello spritz, which I returned after one sip because it was simply undrinkable. The barmaid told me she'd made it herself (as if that automatically makes it any better?), but refused to taste it when I suggested it. The drink wasn't deducted from the bill, which I find odd—especially when someone returns a full glass. No alternative was offered either. It's a shame, because this wasn't the kind of hospitality you'd hope for.

This rating is still on the high side, food bad to very bad, service mehh, atmosphere at a temperature of 25+ the atmosphere was just above zero, toilets are usually a reflection of the "whole", these were also mehh, for me certainly not worth repeating.

Old-fashioned cozy for a nice price. The food is super tasty and the portions wonderfully large. They have a large terrace with atmospheric music. Really recommended!

Good enough lunch - not special, but the carpaccio salad was still frozen… Furthermore, excellent service. Salad Sandwich 2x cappuccino Coke €38.

After shopping or a day out, we usually sit here for a while. N spacious seats...nice friendly staff...

Centrally located in Hilversum. Simple but tasty lunch dishes, nice terrace and smooth, friendly service.

Price not commensurate with quality. The concept of half snacks is not quite there and makes it expensive, especially if it is still mediocre.

Always fun! De Smidse has always remained good, the staff is great and the food is absolutely worth the money! Delicious for lunch and certainly fun now that they are sometimes open for dinner! Great restaurant!

Not a good place to eat, not much taste! Staff is nice, but especially the owner Rudy, not yuck!!

We planned to have something to eat here but after ordering drinks the staff was more concerned with themselves than with us. The ordered orange juice could partly be delivered because it was gone. What was delivered was sweet - hopefully not spoiled but partly left alone. We paid and went somewhere else to eat.

Went for a drink with a friend and I ordered a coffee. It was the last round before closing, so I was told they no longer serve that. Then a woman got a coffee 10 minutes later. Didn't feel like making it or something? Bad service

Het is een gezellige zaak met vriendelijk personeel. Zit wat achteraf in een straatje, maar het eten is lekker. Wij hadden een ossehaas met pepersaus en die was prima. Als toetje hadden we een dame blanche en een baileys milkshake, die erg lekker van smaak was Met 3 drankjes erbij (ijsthee) waren we net iets meer dan 60 euro kwijt. Ben je in de buurt, dan zeker doen. Het eten werd toen wij er waren met liefde gemaakt , zoals ze zelf ook zeggen 😉

Service was fast and good. Unfortunately, while eating and drinking, I had an ice tea with bubbles, while I had ordered without bubbles. But hey, drank it anyway. If the eggs have less dry egg yolk, I will order them again, but this time unfortunately they were a bit overcooked, so they were not very creamy. Not unappetizing, but could be better.

Good service, cheerful staff. But if you really don't feel like having smaller children, you really shouldn't go here. A special corner has been set up for the little ones. The toilet is up a steep staircase. No disabled toilet. Food well presented. Coffee, also good.

We had lunch there together with a group of people. Unfortunately no photos were taken. It was a former forge. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside with or without a blanket. They have set up a play corner for small children. Neat and clean. You can park in the Hilvertshof.

Food just not that good. Spareribs were not good meat. Service ok but not particularly helpful. I think paying extra for ketchup is very sad...

Heerlijk diner gegeten. Ober is behulpzaam en vriendelijk. Restaurant was op dat moment rustig. Erg sfeervol ingericht. Aanrader!

Gezellige ouderwetse bruine taverne met heel veel sfeer, goede muziek uit the 80th, heerlijk gegrild vlees, en zeer vriendelijke bediening. Aanrader!!

Lekker eten. Goeie lunch. En genoeg eten voor de lunch je geld waard.

Altijd gezellig, bediening is top en snel. Eten is lekker. Ook een speelhoek voor de kleine, top!

We hebben hier geluncht met z'n 4en, 2 volwassenen en 2 kinderen, en was dik in orde. We zijn snel en vrolijk geholpen, en het eten was goed. Niet enorm bijzonder maar in orde voor wat je betaalt en verwacht. Voor de kleintjes zijn er kinderstoelen aanwezig.

Ik had een salade met geitenkaas maar was het geld niet waard voor 15,90 er lag voor nog geen 5 euro op je bord en moest nog om de honing vragen

Altijd gezellig druk en uitgebreide kaart! Eten is prima.

Bediening kan echt beter. Je moet lang wachten en ze kunnen echt meer verdienen als ze vaker langs komen. Eten is niks op aan te merken. Simpel maar goed. Gember thee kan beter geserveerd worden. Je hebt elke keer stukjes gember in je mond bij elke slok.

Onze 13e trouwdag met de kinderen gevierd met heerlijk eten. Was echt lekker eten met zeer vriendelijk personeel.

Heel jammer dat dit restaurant al om 20 uur dicht gaat op vrijdag. Het voorgerecht was goed maar t hoofdgerecht was minder. Waarschijnlijk omdat ze tegen de tijd van 20 uur aanzaten. Bediening was top

Goede cheeseburger hebben ze daar, top. En altijd een lekker plekje op het terras.

Het 12 uurtje was broodje kroket, en broodje gebakken ei en een tomatensoep . Bij de soep twijfelde ik of het uit blik kwam.. Sfeer is prima. Serveersters deden erg hun best een waren vriendelijk.

Hopelijk vakantie krachten aan het werk nu. Moesten erg lang wachten eer we konden bestellen en vervolgens eeuw op drinken wachten. Pannenkoek was lekker maar de carpaccio salade aanfluiting. Normaal eet ik het voor m’n plezier hier. Maar vandaag echt vies. Heel jammer vh geld en de gehele beleving.

De smidse is geweldig, ik heb hier altijd keuze stress er staat teveel lekkers op de kaart. Het eten is goed en je kunt er voor lunch, borrel en diner goed terrecht. Zowel op het terras als binnen zit je goed en het personeel is altijd vriendelijk en gezellig!

Gezellig, leker en leuke snelle service!

Altijd fijn om hier te eten, lunch of diner. Beide super. Ruimte voor de Kids om lekker te spelen, overzichtelijke kaart en meestal wel een plekkie. Ruim terras en binnen ook gezellig zitten. En betaalbaar! Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is echt heel goed. Vriendelijk personeel, ook leuk naar kleine kinderen toe. Fijn restaurant.

Personeel is heel vriendelijk echt een pluspunt! Ik had een broodje carpaccio besteld zonder ui vanwege allergie. Ik kreeg het broodje met ui erop. Vriendelijk gevraagd of ze het mee willen nemen. Kwam het voor de 2e keer zat er weer ui op. Ben zelf naar binnen gelopen en kreeg ik uiteindelijk een nieuwe. Zat geen ui op alleen een klein stukje gevonden. Had heerlijk gegeten alleen vond het erg slordig dat er tot 3 x aan toe uien opzaten. Leuk voor een keertje maar zou niet nog een keer gaan! de rest aan tafel had heerlijk gegeten! 😃

Wonderful little restaurant off the main square with really friendly service and a wholesome menu with a variety of dishes. I really enjoyed the Boedapest, Beef fillet in sweet n sour sauce with leeks, onion and mushroom and delicious fries. Very reasonable pricing - this dish plus 2 colas is just under 24 euros. If you find yourself in Hilversum, you must try it!

Rijkelijk gevulde salade ossenhaas gekregen. Goed op smaak, prijs kwaliteit top. Locatie ziet er zowel binnen als buiten gezellig uit. De 1,5 meter word hier ontzettend goed nageleefd. kom zeker weer terug!!
