De Waterraaf in Wijk 71 Assendelft-Zuid

I ate here yesterday, lentilsoup and fish&chips. It tasted well, but I got serious foodpoisoning. The ride home was already uncomforfable, and once I arrived home everthing went bad. Its now 2am, 6 hours later and I still feel horrible. I wonder if any other guests fell ill, but I think it would be a good idea to check the freshness of all the food, maybe somethings gone off. I do have to say that the waitstaff were very good and the food tasted well, I Just got unlucky.

Great spot to relax. Delicious food, local beer (raven water, very tasty). Simply cozy.

Today we ate at De Waterraaf for the first time. This has been on our wish list for a while. The terrace is in a great spot with views over the harbour. There are a few nice lounge sofas, but it still lacks a bit of decoration and atmosphere. Inside, the restaurant is simple, but cozy and inviting. The staff? Young, but super attentive, helpful and eager to learn. And this is where things are going wrong. This restaurant has sufficient and willing staff, but there is no management whatsoever. The mostly young staff is eagerly waiting for instructions, but what if they don't come? These instructions naturally start with the training of the staff and the distribution of tasks. If this does not happen, you will end up with, as we experienced today, guests having to wait a long time for orders, being repeatedly asked by various staff if anything is wanted and some tables being empty for a long time, but not being cleared. Rule 1 in the catering industry: never return empty-handed! From the kitchen I heard a lot of complaining and grumbling against the staff. There were too many customers, I heard from the kitchen. There were perhaps 10 tables occupied, there were at least 3 waiting staff and the kitchen brigade consisted of at least 3 people. What if it suddenly gets really busy? I thought the food was reasonably priced for all courses. However, the sea bass tasted delicious! Just like the salad and fresh fries served with it. The chicken satay did not appeal to us. No idea what spices were used to make the chicken spicy, but for us these spices made the chicken too salty. The chicken was dry. The plates are neatly and carefully laid out. You feel that there is someone in the kitchen who loves his products. It's a pity that this doesn't come into its own in terms of flavors everywhere. We will definitely come back here again, but then for a cup of coffee, the friendly service and the view. We'll skip the rest for now. Very unfortunate. This is definitely a case with a lot of potential, but it certainly still needs some attention! *** for the friendliness of the staff.

A nice place near the marina is Assendelft. Unfortunately the weather was not nice today, so we had lunch indoors. A fairly limited menu. But a twist on an old friend, namely a bun on a baguette. France and the Netherlands meet in Assendelft.

Excellent family time in this establishment. Wonderful meal and welcome.

If the weather had been better it would have been a completely different experience. The service was more than nice, but during lunch we were the only guests until almost the end. But we will definitely come back when the weather is better.

Totally devoid of atmosphere inside, it looks like a slightly dressed-up football canteen. Staff show no interest whatsoever in customers, that guy walked by at least 4 times when we came in without greeting or looking at us. Food was reasonable but really nothing special.

Very nice spontaneous service and the atmosphere is good. Most dishes were tasty, but the white fish, my friend said, was not a good combination with the vegetables on which the fish was served.

We had a delicious meal here. Imaginative cuisine and very friendly service. Sufficient vaga(n) dishes. We have eaten here 3 times now and it remains highly recommended!

too little food for too much money.

There was no management in terms of operation. The waitresses were walking around lost. We received no response when you wanted to order a drink, it felt like we were being ignored. After 50 minutes we got something to drink. When we asked about the character of the wine, they looked confused. The menu was handed to us, but we were curious about the fish of the day. I received the answer that she was going to ask the chef about this. Final score another 10 minutes further. As it turned out, pike-perch with sauce, we curiously asked which sauce. "I'll be right back," the waitress replied. Another 10 minutes later, no answer. But suddenly fish was served, without sauce. They had forgotten the sauce, which we still did not know which sauce belonged to, which we had previously asked about, and were now served a fish with a sauce that was still unknown to us. And when the fish was finished, we got our fries, you guessed it, also without sauce. Perhaps a very long, extensive review, but we will not return here. If it was that busy, we might have understood. But this just looks like a disorganized team, what could be better than this, right?

Excellent price-quality ratio. The menu is simple, but extensive enough. The sandwiches are generously filled with high-quality toppings. You can get a sandwich here for under €10.00. For a more luxurious sandwich with salmon or pulled chicken, for example, you pay €12.50. There are also plenty of vegetarian options. I took a croquette sandwich, or 2 croquettes, 1 of which was shrimp and 1 of which was beef. These were served on 2 thick slices of country bread. It came with a small fresh salad. The shrimp croquette was especially delicious! I will definitely come back here again. You can sit cozy inside in the winter, but I can imagine that in the summer you can enjoy the terrace on the water. The service was very friendly.

Last weekend I went to the water raven with my loves for the extensive menu. Have already experienced this week before. And also wanted to share this with my daughter. Not only is the food delicious, we also find the environment and service absolutely top-notch, friendly and cooperative. Food beautifully served, a feast for the eyes and the stomach. In short, highly recommended for everyone

Price-quality was completely out of proportion. All things considered: all around scandalous. Never go here again.

We enjoyed the Ethiopian evening with Kidus last week! A great initiative that I was immediately enthusiastic about as an avid home cook. We look forward to more special evenings like this. The weather cooperated so we could eat outside and the atmosphere was good. A nice end to the summer as far as we are concerned!

Expensive, tough fish, long wait and dishes that are too small. It is a mystery to me why this restaurant is so highly rated.

After cycling past it for 6 years on the way to work, I reserved a table. That was not a wrong action and certainly worth repeating. Here a surprise menu is a real surprise and also very tasty.

Nice ambiance at the marina of Nauerna near Assendelft. Had lunch here in April. Croquettes with bread. Tip. The mustard can also be placed on a bowl with real Zaanse mustard instead of a bag. Also an outdoor terrace. Smooth, sympathetic service. Water raven lunch board is highly recommended. Fish or meat or vegetarian choice. I will definitely come back here again.

A really delicious pulled oats sandwich for vegans and my husband also found the ham sandwich to be nothing to be despised. I have tried all the soups so far (including vegan without topping) and they are all delicious. Today we went for the freedom soup. Bas's cranberry oat cookies with coffee. They are really criminally delicious😋 We will be back soon

After several favorable recommendations, I "stopped in" at De Waterraaf. Because; as they themselves say: even strange birds are welcome here! I am very positively surprised at how pleasant it is here. The atmosphere is friendly, the staff is attentive and knowledgeable. And the food and drinks are very good and totally worth it! Highly recommended!

We came for the mussels. These were very disappointing. Everyone in the restaurant complained. The staff took it seriously because they had a different supplier. As compensation, everyone received a cup of coffee. But we won't go back.

We had lunch here. It is in a wooden building. Not very attractive inside. Service is somewhat inexperienced, but friendly. The smoked butterfish and salmon sandwich was tasty. Only it was only 1 slice of bread and that was very little.

Delicious lunch platter, meat and fish with delicious mustard soup. Friendly service. Decaf coffee was ditch water. But I had regular coffee, which was fine, just a cup of coffee from The Hague. ..maybe a little more. Apple pie. Not my taste, I like crispy cookies, but otherwise great taste and good whipped cream.

Delicious food. On the menu 3 main starters and desserts. What a relief. Improvement point: the strawberry carton with the dessert was dry and the mousse delicious, but with 1 scoop it was a bit sparse. Friendly staff. .

Had dinner outside with grandpa, grandma, toddler and baby on a rainy evening. The wishes of the little ones in terms of eating and sitting were very kindly taken into account, and when it suddenly started to rain, the service was very proactive and helpful in getting us, table and family, under a canopy. Very hospitable. The food itself was very tasty. Small menu, but that just makes the choice easy and something for everyone. Everything was on the table very quickly and neatly. We'd love to come back!

Just had lunch at the waterraaf. The location is a oasis of calm at the water and the fields. The service is laid-back but attentive. We had a delicious fresh Caesar salad, tosti and a portion of chips washed down with the waterraaf own beer. It felt like a short holiday.The day after I went back for the locally sourced goose burger.

Following a wonderfully made light-hearted video, we made a reservation here for lunch. Extremely disappointing that the vibe of that video was not matched by the reception and service during our lunch. Dishes were fine, but on the small side. I did miss the pumpkin sambal with the salmon. I wanted to report this when the plates were being cleared, but the employee wearing a face mask walked away without eye contact. A round of drinks could easily have been done, but we felt ignored so we left earlier than planned. Beautiful location and appealing in terms of decor, might try again this summer.

Everything is fantastic here. The location, the atmosphere, the service, their own Ravenwater beer... And for those who eat vegan, the vegan bashes are truly heavenly. I have now experienced this twice and both times the three courses were truly divinely delicious. With chef Sylvester who also serves and enthusiastically tells you what is on your plate. There is something for everyone here, which makes it a special and pleasant place.

A nice restaurant where the service is friendly and efficient, where the food not only looks fantastic but also tastes delicious and where you can sit both indoors and outdoors. I was a little afraid of the somewhat few choices I would have regarding... pregnancy, but there were plenty of options left because there were still a number of dishes available outside the menu. Keep it up, we'd love to come back again 🥰

I'm sure it's a great location in the summer, but in the fall the environment for eating is a little less charming (read: dark, creepy). I expected a little more food, but service is good. The sukade was highly recommended, excellent!

We had to wait a while but it was worth it. Original menu with many local products. Fine coffee and tea from, #purecoffee and #guiltea I had the celeriac burger, and I was pleasantly surprised. Forgot to take a photo. He was already up!
