Dende in Binnenstad-Noord

We were here for lunch last Friday. Due to my allergies, I'm not allowed to eat many things. The staff was super friendly and helpful; in the end, I got a sandwich that wasn't even on the menu. Definitely recommended!! Thanks again for the help and kindness that day!!❤️

Cozy, customer-friendly and nice decor

I had lunch at Dende. The wrap I ordered was excellent. I noticed that the staff were all quite hurried, even though my order didn't arrive very quickly. It was a bit dark inside to read the newspaper properly. Plus, some of it stuck to the table... I think it would be fantastic outside in the summer, because the location is great. In short, nice!

Lovely terrace, great location, friendly staff. I ordered a carpaccio salad, which was very disappointing. It wasn't fresh lettuce, and contained dried-out pieces of red cabbage. The carpaccio looked like it came from a package, with the slices so tightly packed together that they couldn't be separated. The dressing was minimal, and there were no extras like Parmesan and pine nuts. The price-quality ratio was very poor.

Cozy atmosphere. We received a warm welcome. Professional service and the sandwiches are excellent.

We sat outside on the boat, enjoyed a great view of the water, and the staff was super friendly. The food was delicious and we received good advice about the dishes. It got chilly late in the evening, so we were given blankets and the red light was turned on... Highly recommended!

There were only a few people, therefore we had a quick service. The food was great: we shared the fingerfoods (around 2 plates p.p.). Service was generally super nice. Would definitely go again to try the different plates. The atmosphere was great too.

This place is a joke. They have "love and attention" written on their shirt, however we were completely ignored even though we were sitting near the bar. Also you cannot even walk up to the bar and get a beer, you have to wait for one of the waiters that won't even notice you.

3,5 stars. Cute place next to the water with some vegan and plenty of vegetarian options. Flatbread with Baba Gharouge (baba ghanoush made from beets) was a bit minimalistic. For the price of €11,- I could have hoped for more toppings than just olives, paprika and rocket. Lebanese flatbread is pre-made from the Turkish supermarket. Nevertheless pretty good! Staff is friendly, restaurant looks cosy both inside and outside on the terrace.

In itself we ate well, taste was good. But for a club sandwich I expect more than a slice of chicken fillet and 3 slices of bacon. Make it a bit more extensive, add an egg or pieces of chicken, some fries. I thought it was really meager for that 14.50.

You are sitting there wonderfully. Service is not suitable offering a wine glass twice in a row that is completely dirty means inexperienced and uninterested staff destruction for your business..

I must say that the place is really nice! Next to the canal, drinking something refreshing on a Sunday or Saturday morning, it gives such a nice vibe to begin your day. But unfortunately I must say that my experience there wasn't good at all. I went there with friends and we ordered 15 minutes after we sat. One of the waiters came, and he took the order (one cold americano and two iced teas with peach). At least that's what we expected and about the tea, the guy had told us that they had peach iced tea. Eventually, they brought us iced tea with lemon flavor and a latte with caramel sirop. The thing that we didn't like the most was the reaction of the waiters who were stressed because of the crowd but at the same time not helpful at all. When we wanted to pay, we wanted to split, which happens very often in the Netherlands, and they even insisted that we pay all together. In general, the experience wasn't nice, and I'm sorry, but we'll definitely not go again.

Very good experience with this restaurant! Delicious food and excellent service. Chef even personally comes to the table to discuss dietary and allergy wishes. Each dish was beautifully presented and full of flavour. A top address for lovers of good food and a nice, atmospheric restaurant. I will definitely come back here!

Excellent option: one of the best salads I've had all year! Tourism Office clerk recommended this place as one she goest to - so thanks! We shared four things: pint of beer, onion soup, club sandwich, and the goat salad with walnuts. ALL of the dishes were excellent: flavorful, fresh, and generous sizes. TBH we should have skipped the soup - had trouble finishing the sandwich & salad we were splitting! Staff was cheerful & welcoming, atmosphere is cozy, right across the canal from the old City Hall & the weekly market.

Great restaurant. We came here after having made a selection due to... celiac disease. Not everything was available gluten-free, but how happy can you make someone with satay including satay sauce. I can complain about the schnitzel being slightly overcooked and not enough fish in the fish pot, but the flavors are great. We received great help from a young man with a lot of wine knowledge.

Arrogant staff, who would rather have a group of 9 people leave than serve them.

I ordered a pork schnitzel. But I got a thick piece of meat, not panfried, and I'd say it was chicken, although I cannot tell that for sure. A schnitzel must be a flat panfried piece of meat. Chips were good, and also having dinner on a flat boat makes is nice.

Espresso Martini was not good, even dirty (€13 without alcohol) we were allowed to order another drink. Then the espresso martinis were on the bill, when we indicated this it was all nonsense and it was our fault. We were treated very unfriendly and in the end we had to pay for 1 espresso martini... Won't come here again, arrogance at its finest.

Very unfriendly waitress (woman in her 40s approximately). She seemed very grumpy, as if she didn't really feel like it at all. We walked halfway away while we were still ordering. Otherwise a nice place, the food was fine, but the service was downright bad.

Nice tent, nice terrace, nice coffee, but the apple pie with hand-whipped cream... that very cheap factory cake from the wholesaler from the freezer, such a shame. The cool guy who served us didn't care at all when I told him kindly. So Dende, better apple pie please!

We had a lovely time by the water. Service was friendly and helpful. We ate Club sandwich chicken and club sandwich salmon. It was delicious!

I enjoyed this lunch restaurant. Of course, the splendid weather contributed to my enjoyment. I sat outside along the river in the sunshine and watched the canal boats go pass. So, the ambience is top-notch on a sunny day. As to the food, I ordered a goat cheese salad and it was just right. Tasty and diverse and just the right amount of food. I got two slices of bread to go with the salad. The bread could have been a bit fresher and did not come with butter (maybe I could have had butter - I did not ask for it).

Eenvoudige lunch in een gezellig tentje! Wel erg koud binnen, de zon scheen buiten met een koude wind erbij. Reden voor het personeel om de deur uitnodigend open te zetten, maar dit was echt té koud. Leuke ligging in hartje Leiden! Vriendelijke bediening. De sandwich was prima!

Erg vriendelijk personeel, keuken voor dineren gaat pas om half 6 open, dus moesten even wachten. Konden Wel eerder bestellen, en het eten was snel gemaakt. Erg goed eten, met een goede service. Zeker een top restaurant!

We went here for a drink, unfortunately one cocktail was knocked over before even a sip was taken. We were allowed to order a new one and nothing was compensated.

Het zag er zo gezellig en knus uit dat we hier wilden lunchen! De kaart heeft ook genoeg keuze. We hadden net onze bestelling door gegeven en binnen 5 minuten stonden onze broodjes al op tafel! Dat is wel heel snel! Het eten was verder okee, niet bijzonder en vrij basic, zeker t.o.v. de prijs.

Went to Dende last night with a group of 5. Welcome from the service was very friendly, however first thing for us to notice was that the door to the restaurant was open, whilst it was quite cold outside. When we asked the staff if they could close the door, they - politely- explained that they checked with the restaurant owners (who apparently live above the restaurant), and they did not allow to close it, as they want people outside know that the restaurant is open. We were offered to move tables, which we did, however it was still cold. Number of guests were sitting in their jackets and scarfs, and after 3rd time we asked, the owners agreed to close the door (by that time, we were almost finished with our desserts though). The owners are really shooting themselves in the foot with this policy. You can just put a sign on the door like “we are open” or something, but letting your guests to be cold, is simply not customer friendly. Food: had to sent two risotto’s back as they were cold Ribeye, whilst the waitresses advised to take it medium-rare (to what I was happy), I got the meat well done…. Service: they are really doing their best, and are friendly which is a great +, however they are clearly missing a training. Not knowing what dessert wine is (in general), calling out the receive amount out loud to all the guests, at times being way too direct/informal, etc….

Hermoso lugar junto al canal. Comida deliciosa. Servicio muy cálido. Recomiendo la sopa de sweet potatoe.

Dende is our favourite bar in Leiden we always call in when we come over from England to visit family super friendly staff quick service look forward to visit again next time we are over

Heerlijke geitenkaas salade gegeten en erg vriendelijk personeel

The waiters were super lovely and took/delivered our order very swiftly, but we ordered some non-alcoholic drinks that just tasted like water, you could barely taste the ingredients 😞. It was super disappointing to pay 7 euros for a mocktail that’s basically water.

La ubicación de este restaurante es súper estratégica, el servicio es eficiente y amable, y la comida muy rica. Tiene precios buenos en comparación a otros lugares es más barato en Dende!! Si están en Leiden de visita no pueden dejar de visitar esta increíble terraza

The service is poor. It takes ages to order the food. They don’t have menu with soft drinks prices. The waiters don’t take your empty plates for 30 minutes literally. However seating outside can be nice because they have warm pillows on the chairs.

Wat een leuk sfeervol cafeetje in centrum van Leiden. Kameraad moest optreden 🎷. Ik heb niks gegeten daar dus over de gerechten kan ik niet beoordelen, maar wat ik heb gezien, zag het allemaal ontzettend goed uit. Ik heb daar de meest zoete fruitige cocktail 🍸 gedronken jammie jammie smaakvol haha...

Heel vriendelijk personeel en snel geholpen. Zelf niet gegeten maar zag er erg goed uit. Sfeer op het terras is erg gezellig voor een avondje terras.

Het is een geweldige zaak we waren voor de lunch met 19 personen en voor het diner met 16 en dat was geen enkel probleem. Super service lunch was heerlijk buien op het terras en het diner was binnen. Met de lunch hadden we planken met van alles en met het diner hebben we gewoon van de kaart gegeten. Echt een aanrader.

Wij vonden het bij Dende niet denderend, helaas. Niet met liefde en aandacht, zoals hun slogan luidt. Als voorafje carpaccio besteld. Eén iemand wilde zonder pitjes/nootjes, dus kreeg iedereen geen pitjes/nootjes, dat was makkelijker zei de ober (!). Wij vonden de prijs niet in verhouding tot de gerechten (te duur). Een klein (ontbijt)bordje carpaccio kostte een tientje en de kleine wienerschnitzel kwam helaas uit de frituur. Ook moesten we lang wachten op een tweede rondje drinken. Als goedmaker werd dat wel van de rekening afgehaald zei men, daar gaan we dan maar vanuit dat ze dat hebben gedaan, want een rekening hebben we niet gezien, alles gaat via de (hun) mobiel... Misschien hadden ze hun dag niet...

Wir saßen draußen am Kanal und wurden zügig bedient. Das Sandwich und die Taccos waren sehr lecker. Die Pommes sind homemade und zusammen mit der selbst gemachten Mayo ein Träumchen. Auch die Drinks waren schön sommerlich und sind zu empfehlen.
