Ordered Club Sandwich Kip, it is with a bacon which was really salty. Service was good.

That 0.0 vegetarian steak is a real letdown. Otherwise, the atmosphere is great and the service is excellent.

The food was delicious, everything was really good! Unfortunately, there were a few staff shortages, so if you had a question or wanted to order something, you had to wait a long time.

Beautiful location and nicely decorated. The onion soup as a starter is highly recommended. The Bali steak, as you'd expect from the Loetje concept, was delicious with some extra vegetables and fries. It was just a shame that a domineering woman came by at 9:15 to ask if we wanted a last drink even though we weren't finished. We couldn't even get coffee until just before 9:30 because the machine was already clean. At 9:30 sharp, they were setting the tables around us for the next day, and it felt like we were being overlooked. It was a real shame to end like that, and it really dampened the atmosphere for us. Hence the low rating.

Delicious steak and “gezellig” atmosphere, location is amazing with a lovely garden.

The food was delicious, simply no-nonsense, with a juice so good it would have been appropriate to serve it in a glass with a straw. The service was friendly, but could use some clarity in communication and attentiveness. For example, drinks were taken one after the other, only to have the wrong order arrive, and empty bread baskets weren't cleared. Combined with the relatively small tables, I simply left the basket on the floor. That said, these are minor quibbles that didn't detract from a wonderful dinner. And I would definitely go there again.

Delicious tenderloin steak with even better jus, perfect for dipping bread. They also have a wonderful crème de brûlée. The staff is very friendly and welcoming. It's a beautiful old building, though the interior is a bit too large for a truly atmospheric setting. But all in all, highly recommended.

It was very tasty, but the lake of butter in which the steak was swimming was a bit unusual.

Good food, but a bit pricey for what you get.

Most people come to Loetje for the famous steak, of course, but I come here specifically for the chicken livers. I've been here twice now, and unfortunately, I've noticed that they're inconsistent with the servings: the first time I got a huge bowl full, the second time only a small bowl with about six livers. It's a shame, because it detracts somewhat from the experience. The restaurant itself is also very beautiful, located in an old hospital with plenty of character. The courtyard is a great place to sit, perfect for a pleasant lunch or dinner. Keep in mind that parking is difficult and quite expensive, which is in addition to the steak prices, which have recently become quite high.

One downside for this Loetje... The restrooms are really outdated these days. A rotating faucet, dirty doors. For a restaurant, I shouldn't have to touch anything after washing my hands, even on my table. It's a shame, because this Loetje is located in a beautiful building, a former monastery hospital, which immediately creates a good atmosphere. The food, as always, is nothing special, just good.

This used to be the Elisabeth hospital, and now a beautiful Loetje location. I ordered a delicious steak with old-fashioned gravy and 2 casino white sandwiches. Not normally so tasty! Sweet potato fries with aioli and no salad with it, had to leave room for the delicious sticky toffee cake! What I would do differently is to put on the menu with all dishes what the dish contains. Not everyone knows what a sticky toffee was. This turned out to be delicious chocolate cake with dates. For a good price indication 2 pers. No starter. No salad. In addition to the delicious steak, I also saw other delicious things passing by, so not just steak that is served!

Great, as we are used to from Loetje! Nice and smooth service. Nothing to complain about.

We went for dinner and we ordered the ossenhaas (home specialty) both in simple version and in the full 'package' with onions and speck. The meat is very soft and tasty so is the sauce. The bread and fries on the other hand don't live up to expectations. Luckily the desserts were very good again.

I dont usually write bad reviews since I think it is not fair to the whole establishment but these words are after my correspondence with the support team of Loetje whom never accepted their faults. We had a surprise birthday party which was ruined by their staff due to lack of inner communication, we also received a not so nice sometimes aggressive attitude while sitting and having drinks,therefore the 20 of us decided to leave to have dinner at someplace else after spending 400 euros already.

Had a cup of coffee there. Friendly staff, good atmosphere.

Nice food, just miss the vegetables

I sat here on the terrace at the front and it was a bit busy. Because we were the only ones there, it sometimes took a while before someone came by. Sometimes it was also difficult to have a conversation because of the busy road. The food was excellent and the drinks were also excellent.

We ate delicious Biefstuk. It was super to the point. Service was top. If you want to eat a good piece of meat, this is the place for you.

Loetje is Loetje, steak in 3 sizes, they do it smart. If you say nothing you get the middle card. They make good money when you just think you have ordered the first little one. Plates were thrown on the table and people were asked 3 times if it was tasty. The first time exactly after taking 1 fries. Could say, yes, nice, because that's what it was. Despite the many tables, the acoustics were excellent. They could have made it on the drinks, but I guess it was too busy for that. Another great evening

For us, Loetje stands for a delicious steak and we are not disappointed in Leiden either. The fried mushrooms are really delicious and the salad also keeps well. However, it is the deliciously tender steak with gravy and bread that always lures us in a big city to visit Loetje at least once. There was no way that the two of us could eat what you see here in the photos, but it was nice to get some of everything. However, from now on we will limit ourselves, because we really hate throwing away food. But if you are a big eater, then I would say enjoy it👍😋

Very friendly waitresses! Good food, but pricey because in addition to your steak you also order fries/sweet potato fries/onions for just under 7 euros extra per side dish, but that's the concept.

The best steak in Leiden... Unfortunately not. The worst steak in Leiden? Well, definitely a contender. The friendly service was overshadowed by a very bad steak that tasted like pork liver and fat. It does explain the deathly silence in the restaurant on a weekend evening. There are several alternatives for dinner in the area that will fill your evening with taste and pleasure. Shame! Because Loetje is not a place where we expect something like that.

I ate here twice for 160 euros and twice everything was bad steak cold service bad steak was just reheated and too hard. I received a gift voucher for 25 euros for this, not even enough to buy a steak. Very bad wouldn't go back here again.

What a wonderful tent this is. The food is always delicious at Loetje. Had a fantastic steak. The service was also great, friendly, pleasant and they are there when you need them. This time we sat downstairs, the decoration is a bit less than upstairs, but still just fine.

Last day of the year and we were there for early dinner.Soup as a starter burata, and scrim croquettes and. The beef liver was delicious, juicy, tender, and together with the caramelised onions, it was just great! We also had a burger and a vegan burger both very good. Nice atmosphere, good service good food and drinks. Recommended.

The steaks were as good as advertised and therefore truly worth eating here. The barrata was also very good. Everything was very fresh. The staff was also very helpful, approachable and came at the right times throughout the evening to ask if we needed anything (such as drinks/the menu). Beautiful restaurant and delicious food. Food was fine. The loetje concept is nicely explained, but if you want to know more details, you have to ask. In addition, the loetje sauce is, in my opinion, regular gravy. No details could be given either. Furthermore, you pay a hefty price for the steak. But you still have to pay extra for side disks.

Meat was served in a plate with lots of gravy. No place for vegetables and fries without them floating away.

The 0.0 steak had an ok taste in the middle, but unfortunately the edges were very dry. It was also a very small piece compared to other photos that I see in the reviews. The service was extremely slow, we had to keep trying to get someone's attention to order something. Not a relaxing experience.

Believe me, Loetje is a victim of his own success.... Beautiful building, beautiful courtyard, but on a beautiful summer evening there are 3 chickens. The staff does its best. The quality of the food remains OK, but if you have to pay 83 euros for a hamburger, a steak, a side dish and 4 drinks, and we didn't even eat anything beforehand or have a coffee afterwards, that's okay. thinking..... Shame ......

Have to say I wasn't super impressed. The steak was fine, but no better than in other restaurants. Furthermore, you get a huge puddle of gravy on your plate and bread. A little vegetable would have been nice. I thought the price was too high for the quality

This restaurant from the Restaurant Company Europe is in a beautiful location in the middle of Leiden. At the back... The front is located on the unattractive, ever-traffic Hooigracht and the terrace there is really only 'for decoration'. 'Loetje' is a 'formula restaurant' and you will notice that when you visit. For example, the prices, but also the massive character of this place. I asked an acquaintance her first impression because I was curious and so before I went there myself and this lady told me that it all looked quite 'food barn-like'. I must admit that I agree with that, just take a look at the photos. The courtyard is fantastic, stunningly beautiful in fact, and there you are completely deprived of the city noise at the front. Be sure to bring a well-filled wallet!...

Good food but expensive for children's menu

We were the only ones sitting outside, nice and quiet, which was no problem according to the very friendly service. When it finally started raining, we went inside for coffee/tea. All was fine. Food was delicious. Was happy with the salad, the steak on its own would have been a bit minimalistic otherwise.

Steak and service were terrible, a shame about the beautiful location! We ordered 3 steaks, 1 XS and 2 XL, the XS was the only one that was medium, the rest were well done. When we said something about it, we were able to get one new one with the exception of 1, but “that will take a while...!” Ordering three beers apparently took 25 minutes, with only 9 tables occupied. And then the disinterested staff, this Loetje is a real drama. It is best to park in the parking garage, there are day tickets on the street (apparently). What was great was the location.

Leuke ambiance, lekkere biefstuk. Je dient we apart friet en salade bij te bestellen. Standaard zit er alleen wit brood bij. Maar de bediening mag nog wel even in de heropvoeding. We waren met een redelijk grote groep. Er wordt aan 1 hoofd einde van de tafel de bestelling opgenomen voor het drinken. Je hoort echt even bij de gasten zelf langs te gaan ipv over die tafel te schreeuwen. Verder was die bestelling niet goed genoteerd en heb ik tot 2x toe moeten vragen waar mijn bestelde drankjes bleven. EK voetbal wedstrijd begon die avond om 21.00, dus om 20.45 werden we het restaurant (op een zaterdagavond) uitgebonjourd. Had van tevoren aangegeven dat dat zou gebeuren, want dan hadden we hier nooit gegeten.

i went today to check this place out. all i had was a cappuccino...the service was quick and friendly, but...in my 23 years of living in Leiden/the NL it was the weakest cappuccino i've ever had. i don't know WHY i thought it would be good, but i did...i see from (most) other reviews that it's a good place to have a steak. too bad i don't eat beef. c'est la... and, of course, they did the rubber stamp reply...'so sorry, etc etc...we'll try to do better...'. don't worry. there's at least 3 or 4 places that are walking distance from you that know how to make a good cappuccino. not a problem.

Enjoyed the food, atmosphere, friendly staff and my own company (woman) of course. We had the Beef Tenderloin in (garlic) gravy and it was really really good! The steak itself was high quality and the gravy intensely tasty and balanced. The Burrata and Steak Tartare starter were also really good! And I'm very picky, if I say so myself. For dessert we chose 3. The Churros, Cremebrulee and Cheesecake. Also very refined and balanced. They know flavor combinations here. The staff was nice and friendly, there was enough time between the dishes and drinks. Will highly recommend!!

Nice restaurant. We had not made a reservation and were still more than welcome on Saturday evening. Very friendly staff, tasty menu choices. Sat on the outdoor terrace where there is a nice ambiance and where you can admire the rear of the old hospital, very beautiful and delicious, will definitely come back.

Heerlijk gegeten, maar de service kan echt stukken beter. Het eten was echt lekker , maar de bediening mag wel een opleiding gaan volgen want dit leek nergens op.

Cozy restaurant. The best steak, but I prefer the gravy separately. Because that was a lot and my stomach was not happy with it.

Carpaccio was overduidelijk voorgesneden en werd te koud geserveerd. De tonijn kon weer zwemmen in een smakeloze boterjus, nl de echte Loetje jus..... Bij het hoofdgerecht werd op een stapeltje een halfje wit geserveerd op een bordje. De ossenhaas was te koud gebakken. En heeft geen tijd gekregen te rusten. Al met al fantasieloos. En bovendien smakeloos. Tot slot, op de vraag of er een taxi besteld kon worden, kreeg ik een verbaasde blik. Met de aanvullende opmerking "dat dit wel Chinees leek"......., we hebben maar niet om een uitleg gevraagd. En hebben de bus genomen. Een illusie armer, een ervaring rijker. Zowel het eten als de service waren de 225,- absoluut niet waard.

Always delicious food at Loetje! Top quality!

Good service in Europe is becoming a rarity, but this place has never disappointed. Along with great food and atmosphere, Loetje Leiden is a safe choice when looking for a nice experience.

Delicious food, we also had a very sweet waitress, I personally had the garlic steak, highly recommended.

It was delicious, but I think those prices are a bit abnormal and if you want fries and onions with it, you have to pay so much, while you have a steak for 36.50, that you still have to pay for onions and for your fries, I think it is very expensive but despite the price it was tasty

Still a bit of a love hate with Loetje. Consistent quality steak, which is tasty but not overpowering. The food comes very quickly, I would advise asking to leave some time between courses. Otherwise there is a chance that you will be outside again in 40 minutes. What stands out is their progressive approach to vegetarian options. The Steak 0.0 is unprecedented in terms of structure. The taste is personal, my girlfriend loves it. That is also the reason for us to come to Loetje. The Faustino is a top house wine with a great price/quality.

-With Total Honesty- Positive/ Spacious, Cozy, warm atmosphere. Many choices of menus. Smiley and Kind staff. Quick Service and nice drinks. -Negative- Had Dutch Croquettes and Burger : tasted good but my digestion wasn’t good later on for few hours. I had mild stomachaches and had some issues for digestion ( felt to throw up. Didn’t have any other food after this ) Burger didn’t include French fries, Croquettes were served with two pieces of toast bread and Butter pieces which I saw in the Supermarket quite often.

Enjoyed a delicious tuna steak, shrimp croquettes as an appetizer and creme brulee for dessert.

Super tasty steak served with white bread. Tip: also give guests the choice of brown bread! Fries and mixed salad are also good.
