Donker & Blond is a great place with a fun atmosphere. The food is a real treat on your plate. Fristi comes with a straw and a lollipop for the little ones. Little details matter. Parking is near the escalator of the large parking garage, so you can walk straight into Donker & Blond, just around the corner from the Hema. Fast service with a patio.

A week before our visit, I called to reserve a table. They said reservations for two people weren't necessary. Upon arrival, the restaurant was full inside, and we were asked to sit outside. I explained that I had called ahead and been told reservations weren't necessary. Unfortunately, they didn't respond with an explanation or apology. The communication felt unfriendly. Overall, we found the service disappointing, especially during peak hours.

Had a wonderful lunch, nothing to complain about (just do an extra round, remove empty bottles from the tables)—a small detail! Definitely recommended! A pleasant stay!

We've been there several times, as we don't leave a review just once. We do find the long, narrow side very narrow, because people are waiting at the cash register if they haven't paid at their table, or people walk through that narrow area to the back to see if there's room (and back if there isn't one), and staff members with food pass by those guests, all in a very narrow area, right in front of your table. When it's busy, it's annoying. We see a big difference every time. When it's quiet, you're greeted kindly, but when it's busy, there's no smile or friendly word. And during times when lunch isn't cheap, customer service is something we consider very important. A long wait isn't a problem—after all, there's a terrace outside the restaurant—but if they're also unfriendly, it becomes annoying. If you have questions, you get curt answers. If you have to change something (like in my case, leaving something out due to an allergy), they treat you as if you're asking for something impossible. Everything should be fresh, so I don't think it's a problem to leave something out. You pay the same price anyway, so that can't be the problem. The food is generally good, but the price/quality ratio isn't consistent across all dishes. And the price for two cheese croquettes is ridiculous, as they were so small.

Bad food. Cold and tasteless, served by slow and disinterested staff. Okay, it was Monday...

I ordered a fish salad, which was absolutely terrible. A small piece of smoked salmon, a bit of tuna salad, and a bit of a surprise crab salad. Otherwise, just lettuce, no bread, nothing. For 12.50, this was absolutely terrible.

Never go to Dilay. She shows no interest, cuts anything at random, and forgets everything. What a terrible hairdresser.

We ate here yesterday. The lady in the kitchen wasn't very hygienic. Because they have an open kitchen, I could see how often she touched her nose and then continued preparing the food without washing her hands. Not exactly appetizing to watch. I also didn't find the waitresses very friendly. She couldn't crack a smile. And we really felt like they'd rather see us leave than come. But this feeling was confirmed when we asked for the bill. Suddenly, she seemed friendly and could manage a smile. This was the last time we'll eat here.

The chai latte tasted good. However, it was down in 3.5 sips. For the price, that should definitely be a bit more. The small complimentary pastry was nice, though. It was a bit crowded, and you could definitely tell. When I went to the bathroom, someone (rather rudely) sat next to my partner. Time to leave, then.

Donker & Blond is unfortunately not what it used to be. It's not very clean, and the benches wobble when you sit on them. The food quality is also really poor, unfortunately. Sandwiches with soggy bread, very strangely sour salmon, and a warm, lukewarm orange juice. When I report it to the staff, they say, "Oh, yeah, that happens sometimes." Maybe it was a snapshot, but I won't be back anytime soon.

On Saturday, July 26, 2025, I had lunch with my mother and her boyfriend on the patio at Donker & Blond. It was a warm day and the patio was well-filled; thanks to the parasol, we weren't completely in the sun. The young waitress was quick to take our drink orders. The same was true for the food. The waitress was very friendly and kind, which is always nice when you're sitting on a patio. We didn't have to wait very long for our drinks and lunch. I went for a salmon fried egg sandwich, my mother for a club sandwich, and her boyfriend for a meatball sandwich. All three of us enjoyed our meals. The salmon and egg was a good combination, and the sauce on top made it perfect. The waitresses were visibly moving around, and if you needed anything else, it was noticed fairly quickly, as was the billing process. I personally always appreciate that!

Clear the table better when items are brought in

A nice location during shopping for a drink break, nice and friendly staff but it is the most beautiful interior in the region go and have a look inside, this is how a catering business should be. Great well done (two ladies I heard) yes double compliments.

Highly recommended, we come here regularly with our family and always good. The food is great and every month new specials. The coffee tastes very good. The staff is very friendly and attentive. Our youngest daughter always gets an orange lollipop, she loves that. Excellent location for a nice lunch and as a break during shopping. Toilets on the first floor and therefore not entirely ideal. Otherwise neat and hygienic.

It took a very long time to get our drink and when we got it the glasses were still completely warm.

Ordered 2x tuna melt sandwiches, it took a very long time before we got it. The sandwich was inedible, so hard, I had indicated it, the waitress would tell the cook. Nothing further was done with it. This was the first and last time we had lunch there.

Lunch was a lot but not tasty. I had the smoked salmon sandwich. Meh, nothing special. Food is not fresh because the lettuce turned out to be brownish and some of it was not good either. They also don't come by to ask if you enjoyed it or if everything was to your liking. I ask for the bill but don't get a response. So I go to the checkout myself. I expressed my irritation but received no response. So there is no service and I won't come again.

Very nice, beautiful and neat catering business in the Etten-Leur shopping center. Lunches are 'Dutch style', which in itself is nothing wrong with that. Friendly young ladies serve and very normal (fairly low) prices are charged.

High tea very extensive and of good quality. Children's high tea is also highly recommended, there is plenty and variety on offer. Service could be a little better, we often had to ask for it ourselves.

Very nice tent. We ended up here by chance because we were walking past, but had a great meal. Also absolutely not expensive, very affordable. Only €8.75 for a ham & cheese sandwich! Definitely recommended and we will definitely go back again with a good feeling

A 22 year old was asked for identification for a drink without any alcohol. And then also with the words 'according to the law we have to ask that'. Just too ridiculous! The audacity alone, that they want to determine whether you are old enough to consume a certain (non-alcoholic) drink. So I got up immediately and will never come back here again.

I called in just for a coffee, then noticed the menu. I ordered the American Burger, it was delicious. The staff were all very helpful and helped with my language barrier (English) I would definitely recommend 👌

We were quite late around 4 o'clock. We ordered the pancake and Amiracans hamburger. It went well. The food could be better. I think the cheese on the hamburger was a bit burnt, so I removed it as much as possible. I think the staff was getting tired. one could still see something

One of the better lunchrooms in Etten-Leur. Price-wise, a bit on the expensive side, but the quality is good. Staff can be good/bad. There are a lot of young people walking around who have some difficulty when it gets really busy (it's always crowded here around 1 p.m.) Not special in terms of furnishings.

Great lunch place, with really reasonable prices, which you hardly see anywhere these days. The food was fine, but not fantastic. In my opinion, a club sandwich should be made with toasted bread, but that wasn't the case. There were friendly people walking around the counter, although they were not very alert. We sat right in front of the bar and even there we had difficulty making contact several times. The overall atmosphere can also be improved somewhat. You can tell that they rely on their turnover rate here. Although I find that understandable, it is not something you as a customer should notice so clearly. I personally think there are better lunch places in Etten-Leur, but it was certainly not bad.

Delicious lunch, I had the omelette with salmon and my husband the omelette carpaccio, both were delicious. I've eaten here before and the food was good then too. It's always busy here so I think that says enough.

Het was een tijdje geleden dat ik bij jullie ben geweest en voorheen was ik altijd tevreden, maar de laatste keer was helaas niet geslaagd. De service was niet vriendelijk en gehaast en we werden voor ons gevoel gewoon weggekeken, omdat we alleen wat kwamen drinken.

Erg gezellig restaurant, inclusief een leuke speelhoek voor de kids. Vriendelijke persoon en lekker eten. De tonijnsalade was helaas matig en in een restaurant hoop ik toch een lekker oerbrood of iets vergelijkbaars te krijgen, in plaats van een ‘standaard bammetje’. Vandaar de drie sterren, maar al met al is D&B een aanrader voor een lekkere lunch!

Friendly service and fine tea. Even came with a nice complimentary micro-muffin. The extra muffin that I ordered (wouldn't have if I had known about the micro with the tea) was decent in flavour but ice cold in the middle as if it only recently came out of the fridge.

Ik kom regelmatig bij Donker & Blond. De sfeer is goed en het eten is zeker lekker. Ik heb het eten wel maar 4 sterren gegeven omdat ik het jammer vind dat de kaart nooit veranderd. Als je dan regelmatig gaat wordt de kaart saai. Ik hou van nieuwe dingen uitproberen en heb elke keer wel ergens anders zin in. Verder ben ik heel tevreden, ook de bediening is goed!

Een gezellige plek om even een bakkie te doen of om te lunchen. Prijs kwaliteit verhouding is goed.

2 koffie een Irish en een Italian coffee, er staat 6,25 per koffie. Is 12,50. Je geeft 53,50 en zegt 40 euro terug . Je krijgt 36,55 terug want ze dacht dat 3,50 fooi was . Terwijl wij nog extra fooi wilde geven. Puur asociaal . Mocht niet terug van mijn man voor uitleg. Maar hier komen wij dus niet meer.

Alles was prima en goed verzorgd zoals altijd op 1 ding na. De chips bij de club sandwich was echt taai en dat zou niet de bedoeling moeten zijn. De koffie, uitsmijter en service waren echter wel goed.

We komen er heel graag een fijne sfeer leuk personeel en erg lekker eten hier
