We were completely satisfied! The restaurant has a very cozy and inviting atmosphere where you immediately feel at ease. The service was exceptionally friendly and attentive. We were particularly pleasantly surprised by how quickly our food arrived – yet everything was fresh, delicious, and beautifully presented. We truly felt comfortable here and will definitely be back! A definite recommendation for a visit to Callantsoog! 😊

Another restaurant on the market square in Callantsoog. We were served quickly and both found something to our liking on the fish platter. We enjoyed it with Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon. The wines were really good for Dutch standards, and the fish platter with plaice, salmon, prawns, a side salad, and potato wedges was delicious. All this in a very pleasant atmosphere... Of course, it comes at a price... We found it reasonable and would gladly return.

Wonderful atmosphere, great attention to detail. There's something different to discover at every table and in every corner. Some tables are illuminated with large candlesticks.

The food was unfortunately bad. There were five of us, and we all ordered kibbeling, which was tasteless and as dry as a pancake. The only positives were the fries and the friendly staff. For the price, it was very disappointing, and we could have gotten better fish from any fishmonger's on the corner. We won't be going back to that restaurant.

We were there with our son (1.5 years old). The high chair was filthy (which can happen). Ordering and service were good, but unfortunately the food was very bad. My wife had a skewer with peanut sauce and I had a burger. The skewer, including the sides, was okay, but really "only" okay. The burger was bad. The bacon had been grilled for far too long and wasn't fresh, and the meat was completely burnt. It was prepared without any care. The fries were cold.

Had a delicious meal, highly recommended if you are in the village. Good service, the food was top-notch, and a cozy atmosphere. If I had to mention a downside, it is that the tables are quite close together. One less table would be better.

We were there on our last day of vacation. We spontaneously called at lunchtime to reserve a table and received immediate confirmation for the evening. We've been to Callantsoog many times before, but unfortunately never to Dorpszicht. I got a table outside even though we had originally wanted to go inside. It had a view of the town. For starters, we had the Dorpszicht platter; the homemade dips were delicious. And for the grand finale, we had the Beef Steak Bali as our main course. It came with a very tasty soy sauce and flavorful fried potatoes. So far, it's the best meal I've had in Callantsoog. The service staff were friendly and attentive. All in all, a wonderful end to a lovely vacation. We'll be back.

⭐ 1 Star – Absolutely Disappointing 🇩🇪 German Unfortunately, our visit was a huge disappointment. In our opinion, the food was of very poor quality. The schnitzels were anything but good – the quality of the meat was very disappointing. The fries were completely soggy and slimy and had nothing to do with crispy fries. The scrambled eggs were particularly disappointing for our son. They contained black bits, which we found absolutely unappetizing and definitely not what we expected. Overall, we expected significantly better food for the price. For us, it was a very disappointing restaurant experience. We would not eat here again and unfortunately cannot recommend the restaurant. 🇳🇱 Dutch Lachely, our visit was a huge disappointment. In our opinion, the quality of the food was really poor. ... The schnitzels were absolutely not good and the quality of the fleece was extremely high. The fry was slap and gooey and totally not skimpy. Before our zoon we order. In this there are black pieces that we have never seen before. For this prize we had prayed and watched. For what it's worth, there's a teleurizing restaurant service. We don't have any options here and we can see the restaurant here.

The food was not what we had expected. My wife ordered a glass of wine, but they serve a bottle with measurements on it. The waitstaff poured just over the line for the first glass the first time, meaning we had to pay for two glasses. Tip: pour your own first glass.

The wait for four meals was endless, then they forgot the appetizers, then the drinks, so we had to wait again. The difference between the food served live and the menu was like night and day. Unbelievable. Never again, sorry, not like this!

We felt a bit cheated… There were three adults and one child. We ordered drinks (no prices listed on the menu) and studied the food menu. The selection looked promising and varied, but not exactly cheap. We ordered one steak, one schnitzel, and one fish salad. The menu stated: "Each dish comes with as much potato dish and salad as you want." The three dishes arrived… with one dessert bowl of fries and one dessert bowl of "salad" (minimalist dressing, more like raw vegetables). When we asked if that was for all three dishes, the server said: "Yes, but you can order as much as you like." 😳😳😳😳 We immediately ordered two more orders of fries (two of the adults were men 🤷🏻‍♀️). These arrived after 10 minutes… If we had waited, the food would have been cold. See photo below for my fish salad 👇 Smoked salmon, mackerel, AND king prawns 🍤 When the salad arrived, there was only ONE prawn on it! I looked around... maybe they were under the rest of the salad... Nope... I must have looked confused, because the server came and asked if everything was okay. Nope 🙂‍↔️ I asked where the rest of the prawns were. She said I could order as many as I wanted... That confused me, because I was actually talking about the potato dish and the salad. She said she'd go get some more for me, no problem at all... After 15 minutes, she came back (my salad was almost gone, sorry, I was hungry), with a tiny bowl, and there were only 2! There were shrimp in there! She said there were only three shrimp on the salad 😳😳😳😳😳😳 Those were my leftover shrimp that should have been on it 🤣🤣🤣🤣 Seriously... 3 shrimp????? I'm totally understanding about rising costs, etc., but THIS is going too far. Then please explicitly state that it's GARNISHED with 3 shrimp 🍤🍤🍤 and not "Salad with king prawns." I don't want to comment on the taste, but I don't like being ripped off 😠 Unfortunately, we were so annoyed that we forgot to take pictures 🥴 So, we won't be going there again! Too bad 🤷🏻‍♀️…. Otherwise, it's a comfortably furnished restaurant. Oh, and you have to wait about 30-45 minutes for the food itself.

We were a party of six and ate at the Dorpszicht restaurant. We reserved an outdoor table for six by phone. The staff was very friendly. The interior ambiance is very nice. We ordered, among other things, Holstein schnitzel, plaice fillet, burgers, and tagliatelle with seafood. We rated the food as good. Nothing more, nothing less. The side dishes, like fried potatoes and French fries, were also okay. Nothing more, nothing less. I think if I were looking for a really good meal, I wouldn't go there.

I returned the grilled meat twice, which was very black, both times nicely covered with satay sauce. Since the restaurant should have known that this is very unhealthy, I was surprised to receive it again the second time. Therefore, I did not eat there; an apology from the management would have been appropriate.

There were four of us eating there. The ambiance was perfectly fine, and the service was very friendly and pleasant. Unfortunately, the food was absolutely terrible. The crayfish tasted only of water and nothing else. The onion soup was completely inedible and bore no resemblance to a French onion soup. It was more like Asian spices and a lot of MSG. When we pointed out that it was inedible, the waiter reacted kindly and made us some schnapps. I think it's a real shame because the ambiance is truly lovely. But they should pay more attention to the food.

The salmon fillet and kibbeling were excellent. The service was also very friendly. I enjoy eating here.

Since I wanted to enjoy my meal and not take photos, here's just the text: A lovely restaurant with a menu that whets the appetite. The food: Pepper steak with fried potato pieces, peppercorn cream sauce... a delicious salad on the side tasted absolutely excellent, was perfectly cooked, and melt-in-your-mouth tender. All this at reasonable prices makes you want to come back again. This restaurant is highly recommended.

We went for dinner with three people on Boxing Day. I had the Christmas menu, and the price-quality ratio was excellent, especially the Grand Dessert. Despite being incredibly busy, it never felt chaotic, and the waitresses provided excellent service. All in all, a fantastic evening and well worth the 5*!

Last week we unexpectedly dined here on a weekday. Even though the restaurant was quiet, there was a good atmosphere and it was very pleasant. The food was delicious and the portions were generous. We asked the staff why the portions were so large, and the answer was: Germans eat more... 😂 In short: nice restaurant, good food, good atmosphere. We will definitely come back.

Just had a delicious meal here. Super friendly service and a cozy, homey atmosphere. I had three sole. Deliciously prepared with fresh vegetables. My wife had the schnitzel, which was also perfect. The portions are generous, great value for money. And there were baked potatoes and salad, unlimited! For dessert, a mandarin cheesecake, which was also delicious. 😋 In short, highly recommended; we thoroughly enjoyed it.

Worst food and service since I've been on holiday in the Netherlands. Typical tourist spot where you only go once and already regret it.

We went out for lunch for the first time with our 11-year-old son, who has significant difficulties with music due to his autism. So far, we haven't been able to have a nice meal or coffee anywhere because turning off the radio isn't an option. We thank the people at Dorpszicht so much; they have no idea what this means! What a wonderful experience for him and for us as a family. And the food was truly fantastic 🤩! Thank you so much for letting us turn off the radio for a bit!

If you have a peanut/tree nut allergy, I absolutely do not recommend this restaurant. I can't eat pasta with pesto, so I ordered the pasta without pesto... But guess what... that also has pesto in the sauce. The spare ribs... no, they were also made with a peanut marinade. I shouldn't have had the fries either... so I had fried potatoes and half a chicken. 🤷🏼 Finally, I was glad I didn't order dessert because it had a peanut "kletskop" mashed into it! This restaurant is completely unaware of the dangers of having such an allergy!

The atmosphere was decent, but the background music was a bit loud. The food (vegetarian) wasn't good. The veggie burger was overly seasoned, and the fries were decent. They also looked strange, as if they'd fried defrosted fries. The taste was decent. In short, I wouldn't go back.
