East Bar & Bites in Schiphol

After long overseas flight and a long layover I decided I needed a drink. Found this place that served both drinks and some food. Had a Heineken (medium) and an apple bandit cider, never heard of it, but it was fantastic. And the small pizza hear was tasty. Great little stop to refuel for your flight.

Didn’t actually eat anything here due to the two obnoxious staff members working. Avoid at all costs. A simple question about the menu and had an awful condescending response, to which they then whispered and looked me up and down whilst walking away.

Wrong prices on already overpriced food, staff say there's nothing they can do about it.

Avoid at all costs, the food I got which was reheated in a microwave came freezing in the middle. I then saw one of the staff use their unwashed hand to pick up food to add to a dish. Guaranteed an upset stomach the next day. It’s one of the few non-bread options and could be good but it’s disgusting.

This review is for Frames Bar&Bites at Amsterdam Airport. There were 8 of us with 16 vouchers worth €7 each, going for a snack. We ordered some sandwiches and drinks, and the waitress charged us over €50 in addition to the vouchers. We thought it was odd, but we couldn't check the bill until we paid, which was when she gave us the receipt. She had done it wrong. She undercounted 5 vouchers and added one more sandwich, for a total of €45 more. She told us she couldn't refund the vouchers or the money, but that we could eat and drink as much as we wanted. We ate and ordered coffees and another orange juice. There was no more juice, but they insisted (not just the waitress who served us, but the other two employees, male and female) that we could eat and drink whatever we wanted. The problem was that we didn't want anything else, and we were already in a hurry to board. During the discussion, they told us that if we had paid in cash, there would be no problem, but that credit card payments couldn't be refunded. Until we realized the other person in our group had paid in cash... we told them, and they had no more excuses. They refunded us €45. We were almost scammed... with the excuse that the system wouldn't let them refund us anything... I asked for their names, because if they hadn't refunded us (even if we had paid by card, it was their fault) I would have reported them for fraud. They refused to give it to me.

Staff didn't bother to even take orders. Went to an other place after wasting 20 min.

I visited this place after deciding not to wait 45 minutes for an opening at Lounge 41 in Amsterdam Airport. I must say, I enjoyed my experience here. Although the food was mediocre, the restaurant was vacant, and the service was great. It’s worth noting that you have to order your food at the register first and then find a vacant seat. If you just sit at the bar (which I initially did), you’ll be met with a very long wait.

The East Bar & Bites outlet on B concourse in Amsterdam's airport — also called Big Bites & Beer — would be a good place for a weary and jet-lagged international traveler to slake her or his thirst with good Heineken beer. Except for one thing: when we arrived at this place, there was a line of people who seemed to be buying take-out items, with a sign over the line saying it was a take-out line. To be sure we were doing the right thing, we asked a man sitting at the bar if we needed to get in line or if we could sit down and have the bartenders take our order. He told us the latter was normal, that the bartenders routinely served people sitting down at the bar. We did just that, only to be told very rudely by a man who seemed to be the manager that we were supposed to stand in the take-out line and order there. So we did that, with the man who had told us we could sit down apologizing to us and saying that same bartender had been serving others who sat down at the bar. We stood in line, got our glasses of Heineken, sat down, and the man who had rudely told us to stand in line then came up and served two people who sat down beside us. Rules that apply to some customers should apply to all customers. The essence of discrimination is to treat some people in a group differently from others in a group with no reason for the distinction. Why that man chose to discriminate against us, I don't know. But after that experience, I'd advise anyone seeking to have a glass of something cold and/or a sandwich at Big Bites & Beer in Amsterdam airport to look elsewhere. It's no fun experiencing discrimination of any kind, let alone the blatant kind we experienced at Big Bits & Beer/

The food is tasty and it is worth it. The service is terrible.... too slow ( it is an airport) and absolutely no kindness. Just order, take your bill... that is it. It took us 8 min to wait for somebody to take our order at the cashier... and the place was not even full. A service courtesy training to the people attending would do wonders to the place.

Expensive! A coffee Americano 4.95......

Best coffee! And a cheese plate was perfect for a low-sugar breakfast. Prices are good compared to what is around in the airport.

Our glass for a beer was not clean Cleaner came to clean a table and only clean half of it Watching the same cleaner.. she then proceeded to just dunk glasses in Soapy water No rinsing She's only a young girl but needs correct training

Wow, what a huge shock coming to this place. You order from the bar and then pay once you leave. They charge you more than what is on the menu ...order a rum and coke, you have to pay for the rum separately. Hideously overpriced space, ripping off transit passengers. I won't bother with this place again. Would rather drink water than their overpriced drinks

Never again What a joke...ordered gin and tonic, have to pay extra for the tonic? Outrageous prices, like EUR 12.50. Don't bother. No wonder their ratings are sooo low. Please reas the reviews before going, unfortunately I didn't and paid the price

Fantastic service and such a great team behind bar. MAATJE AND JAI Amazing. Was only in transit but made my visit very comfortable and 10 out of 10 for service. Well done team.

This place is away from the main restaurants so was much quieter. Service was ok, the large poke bowl is fairly expensive, but big enough to share. Ours was odd with warm rice but super cold, borderline frozen salmon, which just didn't taste right, so we left most of it. I would stick to just drinks here.

Bad. The oven is not working, but offering something different (that does not need to be in the oven) does not occur to the ladies. Would rather be looking at your cell phone all the time. Good job (not!).

My husband and I were looking so forward to a good cup of coffee. The coffee we got was bitter as gall. My husband asked for them to pour some out and dilute it. The two staff members behind the counter looked at him as though he had stepped off mars. The coffee was still bad and so was mine, so bad so, that we couldn’t drink it. I thought it was poor customer relations in still charging full price. The staff were unfriendly and not interested

It is absolutely scandalous that Frames Drinks & Bites staff continues to work during the 2-minute silence. Unacceptable!! No respect and a gross insult!

This place is suitable for those who are looking for just a coffee and a small bite and no long lines. It’s cozy here, and actually when I sat there for a moment I forgot I was in the airport. And the white leather seats are really soft and comfy ☺️

Not overly friendly service where you buy a bottle of Prosecco and: 1. It dumped in front of you, unopened (your drink your job?) 2. you get wine glasses and need to ask for Prosecco ones 3. you need to ask for the bucket of ice because it’s not given to you Honestly I am baffled. I always thought Schiphol is one of the better airports but it seems changing for worse? I hope it’s just a bad day.

Very bad service here, staff does not speak Dutch. Buy your beer, ask for a glass (while everyone was drinking a glass) got an answer from a Chinese lady "boss says no glass allowed, I can't help" Madam, first learn proper Dutch So ridiculous.

Very unwelcoming gay at the door is telling me there is long wait but he has no idea how long.That person is not at all customer friendly actualy looks like he hates to see customers.Overall the place is small and look not comfortable, if you are paying for the visit total waste of your money

Not customer service oriented. My flight was cancelled and I'm stranded for 7 hours but you can enter Aspire Lounge only 3 hours before your flight take off, knowing that the boarding take place 1 hour before the time the flight take off. Hence, I can enjoy the Aspire lounge only for 2 hours.... This is nonsense

When I fly from Schiphol, after check-in, security and passport hassle, my holiday always starts with a beer in this bar. Tasty.

The poke bowl I had was surprisingly good and generous portions, although very expensive, but that’s to be expected from an airport bar. The price is the only reason I wouldn’t give this five stars. Long waiting time for lounge access

Best coffee at Schiphol, if you travel internationally. My favorite bar. I can just sit down, order, drink, relax and pay afterwards. Never too busy. Great cappucino.

I was there putting my coat in the suitcase, not even 10 seconds later the woman came and said I don't know if I'm saying something strange but have you also thought about drinking or something in a strange tone. It is better not to work in these kinds of places if you show arrogant behavior without reason

I was not helped at all, they were slow and just chatting with each other. The kitchen was already closed at 1900 and when I wanted to order at the bar I was initially not acknowledged. When I asked for the menu I was given an arrogant look and told that the kitchen was already closed

The place is okay, you can grab something to eat while waiting for the plane.

What a mess they serve here! A real tourist trap! Ordered a poke bowl. You get a lukewarm bowl of rice with some peas, seaweed sludge, and tasteless salmon. But don't you dare say you don't like it, because then the lame management will turn on you. They don't really care about it. What a terribly bad store this is. Sad bar and terrible service! Bah. I recommend never going here, horribly bad food, it's pure deceit.

Por supuesto que todo en Schiphol es un poco caro, pero la calidad es muy buena. El poke bowl y el sashimi estaban muy buenos. Recomiendo las galletas crujientes de algas y arroz. Y si no tiene prisa, tome el edamame, eran de muy buena calidad y cantidad.

Ubicación muy popular ya que la gente hace cola para sentarse. El restaurante está muy bien decorado pero el servicio es bastante caótico. La comida es normal, pero frente a los altos precios del aeropuerto. No estoy seguro cuando estás en un aeropuerto tienes mejores oportunidades para una comida.

Good snack option at the airport. With a varied menu, East Bar & Bites caters to all tastes. Good service, however prices are high.

We normally asked the blonde lady if we could enter as well, since an older man was allowed and was eating. She responded and shouted THAT'S WHY! Bah, what a dirty arrogant blonde woman. Very customer unfriendly and what an attitude. Definitely got into bed on the wrong side.

This restaurants looks very tiny from the outside but actually it's very huge form the inside. The employee were very nice and friendly, i had a drink with some colleagues and we had a nice time.

Felt like I got cheated . Paid 17.50 euros for a small salmon bowl that was filled to the brim with rice which is not even Japanese rice, half a SLICE of avocado and only 5 pathetic pieces of salmon. Would have abit expected more. Service is hard to get even with the bar empty.

My wife and I just wanted a drink before our flight. Tried to order at the bar but were told it was table service. Spent 10 mins trying to catch eye of waitress who cleared tables and served customers arriving after us. So gave up and left.

Most salty ramen noodles and the sushi is terrible. The rice is so hard and you can tell it’s been frozen over night. Service is equally terrible. Server named Hus lied and told us there was no tap water. 2 minutes later another server brought tap water to the table next to us. Avoid this place.

Great place to hang out in the airport, right next to the smoking area and you're allowed to take your beer to it. Medium prices, great service and super friendly staff if you need a chat! Get drunk and travel on my friends!

Great spot with some eastern menu options. Sushi, yakitori, and some Japanese beers mixed with Croissants and Heineken. Conveniently located in terminal 3. Friendly multilingual service.
