Eetcafé 'De Ouwe Blauwe' in Wijk 00 Monnickendam

After an afternoon of sailing, we went here for dinner with the whole family. It was quite busy; the place was packed, even the terrace. Despite that, the service was adequate. Everyone shares their meals, but you just get an extra plate. A wonderful and delicious way to end the family day.

Cozy restaurant. Even though it was completely full, the team managed to serve everyone on time. A huge compliment to this team!

The food is delicious and plentiful. It also has a beautiful view of the water. Highly recommended.

Always a pleasant experience here. It's charmingly decorated by the harbor, with several indoor areas and a lovely terrace. The staff are friendly, spontaneous, and service-oriented. The food is always good, beautifully presented, and more than enough. The shared fish lunch was delicious.

Highly recommended. The food is very good and plentiful at a very good price. The service is attentive and friendly. We had lunch one day, and when we returned for dinner the next day, they were fully booked, but they did their best to make room for us. They also have a highchair for babies.

We visited the restaurant on an August afternoon and easily found a table outside. The menu is extensive and offers good options for vegetarians; I opted for the Portobello and my partner opted for the fish & chips. Both the food and drinks arrived promptly. The service was very friendly, and the staff spoke Dutch, English, and a little German. Paying by card was easy. One minor criticism is that some birds were searching the tables for food scraps and defecating there; our Tosch was also affected. This may be normal on the waterfront, but the tables could have been cleaned more often. Apart from that, I was very satisfied.

A very pleasant setting, and the homemade moules frites are a must-order specialty 🍽😛 The staff is friendly and welcoming, and they even speak a few words of French 😉 But English is still recommended for a good understanding. A restaurant that's definitely worth the detour 😃👌

Very nice shop, located by the water. The staff was very friendly. We had to wait a little longer for our food (which we didn't really notice). The staff approached us and thanked us for our patience and brought us each a free drink (we were allowed to choose what we wanted).

Really good food. Ordered fish plate which came with Dutch shrimps with pairing sauce, tuna salad, tomato soup, Tempura Shrimps with a pairing sauce which was delicious and smoked salmon. Everything great. The forest ginger tea was also really good which came with a mini stroopwafel. Had ordered some fries too but took really long to come, nevertheless it was so yummy.

Delicious food and a great setting. Fresh, excellent quality and friendly, welcoming staff. We had a grilled cheese, smoked salmon broodje, and warm goat cheese salad. Highly recommended for lunch in this charming town.

The restaurant and terrace were full. Luckily we had made a reservation for 13 people. The food was good, (everyone could order alacarte). The service was very friendly and professional and we didn't have to wait long for our food. In short: TOP!

Great atmosphere and delicious food

First you got a lot of salad and now very little. That's why I ordered extra salad but received a tiny microscopic bowl of lettuce. I think that's a shame! Lettuce is very tasty and important!

Went for dinner with the four of us on Saturday evening. Discussion necessary. Nice place, good atmosphere, nice service. In addition to the normal menu, they also have a menu with specials. We started with picking bread with aioli and herb butter. Delicious bread but quite salty. Tuna carpaccio and steak tartare were chosen as starters. The tuna carpaccio wasn't very much. The steak tartare was delicious, nicely prepared and sufficient. As a main course, the entrecote medium rare from the specials. Well baked and big enough. As side dishes: fries, peeled potatoes and salad. Service regularly refilled the glasses. Tasty scroppino. Tasty lady blanche that had been given attention. Of the panna cota with liqueur 43, the liqueur 43 was not really tasted. After this was said, some liqueur 43 was added. Good restaurant.

Also a regular guest here over the years, beautifully situated on the old harbor, in the old Monkendam city, walk through the old part after dinner.

Delicious food, large portions. In the conservatory you have a nice view over the harbor. It was very quiet inside, some music would be nice. Service was smooth and fun. Worth repeating!

We showed up with a group of 7 and no booked table and got flexible service, good food and drinks in a nice setting. All our menus where very good, except the burger - that had a very dry bun and not very tasty patty. Nevertheless a very good dinner experience.

Nice and attractive cafe. I chose the tuna carpaccio and then venison steak. The tuna was very cold, so you couldn't taste it very well. The slightly too large amount of sesame seeds was too dominant in my opinion. The venison steak was good, tasty and cooked just right. I didn't like the sauce so I left it alone. For dessert I had Tiramisu, which was really disappointing. Way too dry and a lot of mascarpone. The wine choice is limited. All in all, I wouldn't go there a second time. I think the price is too high for the quality. But I did have a nice evening.

€18 euros for a dry burger on a dry hard bun. Was very disappointing and inedible. I had to leave the sandwich because it was simply too hard. My friend had the cooked mussels and thought they were good but not special. For those prices you expect more... Answer: It was on August 4th, the review had not been posted for some reason, which is why it was only published now. It was also great atmosphere and service.

Quite a nice place to sit outside when the weather is nice.... Service excellent, latte macchiato and a wrong coffee ordered, we received a latte with only milk and no espresso, see photo, this was reported and we received a new latte, completely good.. While serving, the employee spilled the coffee over the glass, which she resolved by taking a napkin over it so that the coffee was off the glass, well those are certainly plus points for the company and of course the employee, so service is really 5 stars.. ..

We ate reasonably well, the bread roll in advance and our starters were good, although we had to wait an hour from the bread to our starter. (some people call it culinary, we think it is long) as a main course we had a mussel pan, we ate it but the cooked The vegetables and the cooking liquid were very salty, so you could no longer taste the mussels. We received a polite apology from the staff for this.

Just a nice café, where we and our 90 year old mother felt welcome. Nice meal, unfortunately a bit chilly on the terrace, but they have blankets.

Every year in August I go to the Ouwe Blauwe with former colleagues, fully enjoying the delicious food in a great ambiance with great service! It was again a lot of fun and so good. Thanks team, it was great again!

Nice location, good food and plenty of it. Delicious sirloin steak and Thai tenderloin tips. Just a pity that the ordered starter did not arrive, the young lady had missed it.

Fish platter was delicious with a nice mix of foods. The prawns were particularly good. Nice atmosphere outside, especially on a sunny day.

The place is located in an enviable area, with spectacular views of the port that really make the visit worth it. The atmosphere is pleasant and relaxed, perfect for enjoying a meal in a great location. In my case I opted for the hamburger, which I thought was very good and at a reasonable price, considering both the quality of the dish and the surroundings. Additionally, the staff was excellent, always attentive and friendly, which added to the overall experience. Without a doubt, this is a recommended place not only for its good food, but also for the incredible views it offers.

Was very disappointing. Carpaccio ice cold from the freezer. Mediocre fantasy-loose meal salad without bread. Aperol spritz in a wine glass, so too small and little ice. Service very nice. And beautiful spot.

We came here to have lunch. Dishes are super expensive, they don’t bring tap water but a bottle that they don’t even open in front of you. From what I know it could perfectly be tap water that they make you pay afterwards. And mostly, we waited a hundred years (30 min) for someone to take our order, honestly it could have been more but we’ll never know because we decided to leave.
