Delicious food, very friendly service. I don't understand some of the negative reviews. I had veal liver, perfectly cooked, with four different vegetables, al dente! My wife had scampi pasta, which she said was delicious. One comment: add a few more good Belgian beers to the menu, and it would be perfect.

Na wat Google kwam ik hier terecht wilde gaan lunchen in de buurt van Reuver en Zwalmen. Dit is een goede keuze geweest en staat nu dan ook in onze favoriete lijstje.

After a bit of Googling, I ended up here, wanting to have lunch near Reuver and Zwalmen. It was a great choice and is now on our favorites list.

It's outrageous that they refuse to serve water without batting an eyelid. A bottle of still water costs a whopping 10 euros!!!! The restaurant is located on the Pieterpad, so it attracts many (thirsty) hikers. A gentleman next to me asked for a glass of water because he takes medication. He ended up getting a small, half-full glass. I hope they change this soon.

The food was delicious, but the request for a glass of water alongside the beers (and main courses) was only possible with a €9.90 bottle of water. That was a bit much for us. It would be a good service if a glass of tap water could simply be placed alongside the other drinks. Of course, the staff can't do anything about this; they just do what the owner asks. I'm not asking for a free glass of water; it's perfectly acceptable to charge a bit. But forcing customers who ask for a glass of water alongside their coffee, wine, or beer to put a €9.90 bottle on the table isn't very service-oriented.

Als antwoord op mijn opmerking hierover zegt hij dat we 'slechts' een hoofdgerecht namen, en dat hij niet kan beginnen aan 'dat soort vragen'. Voor een doorsnee-restaurant als dit een ongelofelijke misser. Ook een ander stel dat naast ons zat gaf aan dit een zeer slechte zaak te vinden. Het restaurant ligt aan het Pieterpad. Mensen denken daar gezellig te komen eten, na een lange wandeldag en dan krijg je te horen dat je niet met je glas naar het toilet kan, omdat het niet onder de kraan past. Ik vind dit soort service (en de agressieve reactie van de eigenaar op mijn verzoek dit aan te passen) om te huilen.

Had a great meal on the cozy terrace of this restaurant. Inside many places and cozy, with air conditioning! We will definitely go back there.

A brief account of our experience: It was beautiful weather, a Sunday. We were out with the kids and wanted to grab something to eat on the way home. We spotted this restaurant. Everything looked good from the outside until we asked for a table outside. Unfortunately, there was only one table for six, and we understood that we couldn't really sit there with five adults and three children, as the restaurant only has a small outdoor area. The table next to us kindly agreed to give up their seat and move a table so the children could sit right next to us. Unfortunately, the staff didn't like this, and apparently, neither did the "chef," so we were asked to go inside. We politely declined and spent our money elsewhere. Not all tables were occupied, and the staff were very unfriendly. After our meal at another restaurant, the table was still empty. You're punctuating your answer with lies that presumably serve the purpose of justifying behavior that, with some distance, can only be described as inappropriate. To clarify: Contrary to your statement, we didn't scare away any guests. Rather, an extremely friendly couple proactively offered to move us a table closer so we could sit together. The two tables weren't put together without being asked, but rather after consultation with one of your employees. Meanwhile, another of your employees performed the obviously important task of looking at our children with a look that oscillated somewhere between disdain and an almost admirable lack of friendliness. One wonders whether this is part of the service concept or simply an expression of internal frustration. But hey, at least we can laugh about something afterward: your response.

We had a great meal. The restaurant has a cozy atmosphere and the service is friendly. The atmosphere was relaxed and we could take our time between courses. Highly recommended.

Lovely restaurant where you can also eat with a little one

We bought a house in Swalmen so now explore the restaurants and other catering establishments! Just like we're on vacation! We enjoyed ourselves at 't Kesjotje!! (It was our first choice because there is liver and rabbit on the menu) It was wonderful! The liver is super crispy on the outside and creamy pink on the inside! The meat of the rabbit leg fell off the bone. Super tender! The slightly sour sauce made it a great whole! The soups were tasty and hot! The way we like it: you don't get the feeling that you have to spoon it quickly because otherwise it will get cold quickly. And that's a shame. Right? An intense Irish coffee completed our evening. The girls in the service did their best. Enough moments of attention to ensure that everything was to your liking, but this in a delicate way, not at all intrusive. Cheers! See you soon!

Very tasty food in a good, friendly Limburg atmosphere, with nice attentive service. Small point of criticism, in my opinion the menu could be a bit more extensive, but it is very nice that the menu is drawn up in Limburg dialect.

In een jaar tijd nu verschillende keren geweest eten. Mooi en gezellig ingericht, fijne stoelen, vriendelijk personeel en bovenal zeer lekker eten met een redelijk grote gerecht keuze. Zeker een aanrader als ooit in swalmen komt.

A very warm welcome. It was surprisingly busy on a Saturday afternoon, even though the street was deserted. Friendly staff! I had a goat cheese salad with beets, which was absolutely delicious! The waitress wasn't overly generous with her recommendation. I'm gluten-free, and there weren't many options. It was mainly a main course salad, which came with bread, but not with a gluten-free option. I could order fries, but it was an extra charge. I thought that was a shame, as you already have very little choice in what's available. Bread and butter aren't served, so a few fries to compensate would have made it a bit more friendly! I'm writing this mainly because gluten-free food is often neglected in the Netherlands. Still, it deserves a solid 5 stars!

Had a great meal at this nice restaurant! It is an old police station converted into a restaurant. Definitely recommended if you are in the area!

Ate here with 11 people. Great thing! Tasty food. Atmospheric. Nice staff. Everything with attention! A 5th star would have been given if the dessert had been just as tasty. This didn't really stand out. Too bad for the price asked for it. I would have made different choices here. Would love to come back!!

Nice restaurant in Swalmen. After the Pieterpad walk, we settled here for an excellent dinner: Carpaccio, Spareribs and various beers. The menu was in Limburgish, so a translator had to be involved to show me around. It was busy on Sunday evening and all tables were occupied, so they must be doing something very right.

The meal salads are very nicely prepared and richly supplied with fish and meat. We thought the price was reasonable. The fries that I got were too well done and hard for my taste, but my girlfriend ate them with relish, so that was resolved. A table further away, people were smoking. Very dirty to have to eat in that smoke smell.

Mediocre quality does not deserve top prizes. Coffee €2.80, pie that was certainly not fresh + strawberry cream cake together for the nice amount of €14,- Service was friendly on the terrace that faced the public road. Upon entering the cafe, there was no greeting from the gentleman who was busy with his phone, probably the owner or the cook.

Great service, nice place too. But the fact that you can't order a separate portion of fries is really a mystery to me. The portions of fries, a small bowl, are only served with main courses. Even if I say, what is possible, just charge €5 and give me a fries (purchase €0.50), the answer is still no. What is your revenue model then? Knowing that you serve fries all the time? We paid for the soup and went to the neighbors for a beer and a portion of fries. Simply because it was possible there. At De Mert

Heerlijk gegeten. De bediening was goed, maar het aangeraden eten(lam), overheerlijk. Jammer dat ze af en toe dicht zijn.

Had a delicious meal on Saturday evening. Super cozy and sooooo beautifully decorated for Christmas, outside and inside. The service was very good and pleasant. The food was delicious and I definitely recommend eating there. Worth repeating.

De gezelligheid begint buiten al en eenmaal binnen, omarmt de warme en gezellige sfeer je meteen. De bediening is heel vriendelijk en het eten, met ruime keuze, 'non-de-pie Lekker'! 😋😉👍🏼

Super leuk restaurant...meer een bruin cafe uitstraling. Wij waren onderweg naar huis. Voor dit restaurant van de autosnelweg afgereden. Nou helemaal de moeite waard. Erg fijne leuke sfeer. Super fijne bediening. Heerlijk zuurvlees gegeten...echt top. Het was er super druk, maar alles verliep soepel. Geen mega lange wachttijd. Zekers een aanrader!!!

Voor friet met zoervleisj ben je hier aan het goede adres. Vooral na een weekend Pieterpad lopen.

Ben er als pieterpadwandelaarster super onthaald ( ondanks de weekenddrukte en niet gereserveerd te hebben) Ik was welkom en liet mij verassen door de keuken. Een aanrader: heerlijk gezeten op het terras. Goed getapt biertje en een heerlijke salade met bietjes en een broodje Veldwachter gegeten. Super spontane vlotte bediening.

We moesten even een pauze inlassen in onze Tour de Maas. Een stop ingelast in Swalmen. We kwamen uit bij dit vriendelijk Cafe/Restaurant. Heeft een basale kaart. Maar dat wat geserveerd wordt is lekker.

Heerlijke asperge maaltijd met een verrukkelijk stuk vlees. Prima service. Enige minpuntje dat er terwijl wij op het terras zaten redelijk wat autoverkeer langs kwam.

Ribs were amazing. Probably the best i've ever tasted. Staff members are really polite, cheerful and friendly :). Keep up good work!

Lekker gegeten in een rustig en gemoedelijk restaurant in Swalmen. Hele aardige bediening en zelfs de mensen die er ook zaten waren vriendelijk. Al met al een absolute aanrader.

Ontzettend heerlijk gegeten! Leuke gerechten op de kaart. Lekker anders en super van smaak en zacht mals vlees. Heerlijke toetjes en lekker speciale koffies. Leuke tentje, sfeervol en vriendelijk oplettend en attente bediening! Zeker een aanrader

Een sfeervolle zaak met goede stoelen aan de tafels. Wij wilde graag om 18.30 reserveren maar dit kon niet, 19.00 kon wel. Uiteindelijk bleek dat er binnen maar 3 tafels bezet waren, dus wij begrepen niet zo goed waarom we niet eerder konden komen, misschien personeelsgebrek oid. We hebben hier heerlijk zuurvlees gegeten en een fris getapt biertje gedronken, de bediening was alert(daar houd ik van) Eigenlijk was alles hier goed, alleen tijdens het eten werden wij overvallen door sigarettenrook welke van het terras af de zaak in werd geblazen, dat is jammer.

Je wordt hier heel hartelijk ontvangen door moeder & dochter, de kaart is echt geweldig (niet alleen qua gerechten maar ook qua tekst) en de sfeer is heel goed. Wij westerlingen vonden de porties erg groot dus als je van lekker veel houdt ben je hier aan het juiste adres.

Wij hebben gisteren met onze familie, 9 personen heerlijk geluncht bij eetcafé het Kesjotje. Zeer sfeervol, heel vriendelijk personeel en de lunch was voortreffelijk. Wij hadden erna nog een andere activiteit, het personeel heeft er voor gezorgd dat we mooi op tijd klaar waren. Het was heel relaxed. Wat ons betreft een dikke 10.
