I had a delicious grilled meat and vegetables here. The draft beer was also very good. A busy but very cozy cafe! 🤗❣️

"Great place for a weekday bite." Cozy and always pleasantly busy—as if everyone here has spontaneously decided that cooking is overrated. The menu is concise, nothing earth-shattering, but just right for a weekday meal that doesn't require a culinary rollercoaster. In short: nothing special, but perfectly fine. And sometimes "perfect" is exactly what you're looking for. 🍽️🙂

On October 26th, I ate there, and the atmosphere was good. Unfortunately, after eating the sole at 6 p.m., I had a severe reaction and vomited six hours later. I'd rather not eat here again.

Great food, and despite—or perhaps because of—the football crowds, it was a very enjoyable time. It brings back childhood memories; I've been there many times in the past and haven't really changed since.

Quite possibly the finest example of a friendly neighborhood pub "where everybody knows your name" in the original (Old) Amsterdam style or " brown bar". Great atmosphere, delicious pub menu..everything from soup to salad (great steaks & burgers!) Local, Belgian, German beers on tap..And yes, they have a well selected wine list! Live jazz on Tuesday nights.

It's a crappy place. The staff is rude and charged for a drink that was not consumed. We always come for a team outing, but now DEFINITELY never again!!

There is 1 boy who works there and is very arrogant, thinks he was treated great, the customers were treated very poorly, we were regular customers, we never really come there to puke

Ik was in augustus 2024 naar dit cafe gegaan omdat het bekend staat als een AJAX cafe en er was die avond een wedstrijd in de Europa League.Ik wist niet dat het ook half een restaurant was,totdat ik daar binnen kwam.Een groot deel van de avond in de meest walgelijke eetluchten en tijdens de eerste helft werd er flink gekwekt tijdens de wedstrijd,wat wederom ook zeer storend was!Daarnaast was vooral de bareigenaar zeer denigrerend over mij naar zijn personeel.Er werd onder andere een opmerking gemaakt,dat ik het in de Johan Cruyff Arena niet zou overleven en nog ergere denigrerende opmerkingen werden gemaakt,door deze onbeschofte,arrogante en ongelikte beer!De tweede helft had ik nog op het terras gekeken,om daarna gauw keurig af te rekenen en de pleiterik te maken uit deze verschrikkelijke ballentent met een gekke uitbater!Dit was eens,maar nooit meer!

The exquisite escalope at 18 euros. No need to be full of cash at Elsa ´s. The footballer Johan Cruyff lived 50 meters away. Vibrant atmosphere during Ajax matches broadcast live. Last tip: the top terrace of Elsa’s.

Cozy and delicious!! When the weather is nice, the terrace is also lovely and the terrace sits comfortably on the side of the sun 👌👌👌

We had not made a reservation and were lucky that there was still a place available to eat inside. It was busy with many people at the bar. The beer from the 'T IJ brewery is delicious and despite the crowds you will be served quickly. The sandwich beforehand was a white baguette with herb butter, which was okay in itself. We both ordered the Elsa's burger. This was disappointing because in some places it was too raw for our taste.

Nice selection of draft beers which included Straffe Hendrik. Portion spareribs was below average and not enough for me but they tasted all right but I would recommend them.

Had a nice meal with a Russian friend I hadn't met in years. Young staff on duty, a bit sloppy and uninterested... the two of us and then given 1 menu, no napkins etc.

We have been coming here since we were 25, now 57, but it always remains pleasant and delicious. I hope the old atmosphere will never go away.

Very friendly staff - they didn’t mind us splitting the bill in a million different ways. They were often coming to check on you - ask if you needed another drink or an ash tray etc. The tomato soup was very nice 🥣- so too were the mussels 😋 this is also a good spot to watch important football matches.

Good beer selection on tap. Good service. No more that young male grumpy waiter.

Excellent café located at the entrance gates of our capital. Also in combination with a walk in the Oosterpark or the Frankendael Garden opposite the establishment. The Tournedos tasted wonderfully tender and the beers flowed well. In addition, the tram stops are also nearby, which is an advantage for convenience. To visit...

This is a great restaurant just one atop away from Amsterdam Central. Take the time to go.. We were the only foreigners there. Give this place a try.

Good selection of beers, large portion of chips and a chill oldschool vibe.

There are drunken regulars walking around there at night who terrorize other guests on the terrace and threaten and want to beat them up for no reason!!!! People who just came for a cup of coffee simply walk away. Called 911 and the police had to come. Company manager refused to provide names and images of those guests to the police. Really a nightmare that alcoholics case. Never go there again and will take the owners of 3 wo seriously to task about it. A big 1 from a colleague.

Een pareltje in Amsterdam Oost/Watergraafsmeer. Een super gezellig bruin café/ restaurant waar je heerlijk kunt eten! Ook heeft het een groot terras. Hele vlotte, behulpzame en vriendelijke bediening. Prijs/ kwaliteit is top! Een aanrader!!!

Last Thursday around noon: - service curt and sullen - cup of cappuccino filled 2/3, lukewarm and with collapsed milk - she charged 3.20 instead of 3 euros as stated on the menu There didn't seem to be any point in her saying anything about it. She really wasn't busy at that moment.

I went to Elsa cafe with family due to the cremation of our dear cousin 😢😞 then we commemorated him with some drinks and snacks. I think it is a cozy cafe. The atmosphere in the cafe is absolutely great. Never been before, but if I come to Amsterdam again I would like to go again.

Just a great lunch (ball sandwich, tuna salad sandwich, croquettes, shrimp croquettes), no spectacle, what you see is what you get. Nice service, cozy cafe-restaurant.

Top cafe, been coming there for years

It had been six years since my last visit to Amsterdam and old friends invited me to dinner at Elsa's Café, a short walk from their home. What a great place. Very lively and wonderful atmosphere. The service was excellent, a plus given how crowded the place was. The food (salmon for me) was excellent. Definitely a neighbourhood place. I think that my husband and I were the only non-Dutch people in the place. One of the very best restaurants I visited during my vacation in the Netherlands.
