Lovely coffee shop. Initially, I thought everything was just for social media posts, but I gave it a try on a quiet day. It was delicious, and the coffee was well-flavored and hot.

Not sure why, but this plain croissant already makes me happy — you immediately feel that rich buttery taste and it’s just great. There are plenty of other desserts to explore too, and the coffee for here comes in a fun cup that at first looks like a takeaway one but is actually ceramic. Nice touch!

Nice bakery. The pastries were fresh, had a good texture and flavor. Not much room for sitting inside during a rainy day, but if the weather is nice you can sit outside and enjoy the sun. The products are a bit overpriced for what they are, but the quality is good nonetheless.

The baked goods are delicious and very refined, with interesting flavor combinations. The matcha is the best I've had in Amsterdam, with a variety of syrups to choose from. The place is beautiful and decorated in an interesting style.

We had breakfast at this place. It's very nice, and you can easily find a seat pretty quickly. We had two large cappuccinos, a classic flaky croissant, and a chocolate one, for a total of €21-23. I'm not a fan of flaky croissants or croissants in general; I'm more of a brioche person, but this one was really good. I recommend it above anything else. The chocolate one was also good, but I preferred the classic one. Finally, the cappuccinos are good, with a slightly more frothy milk. As for the Italian version, I wanted an espresso. The only thing I wouldn't recommend about this place is the espresso. It's a far cry from a real espresso in flavor, a little acidic and watery. For a coffee-free breakfast, it's a perfect place.

Super delicious croissants and pastries. It's already busy in the morning, so definitely don't go too late. Once you've been, you'll definitely be back for more.

Highly recommended pastry shop in Amsterdam. The pastry chef prepares the products daily, and you can see the precision in everything. The service is friendly, and the products are excellent, especially the apple and mascarpone pastry. Prices are high, at €7 per pastry, but they are worth it. The chai latte is delicious, with a hint of cinnamon, for €5.50.

This bakery is popular among social media. Pastries are bit on the pricey side, but they have a wide variety of options, so it's worth a try.

Go to France... it'll be cheaper. I understand Amsterdam is expensive, but here it's overkill. Perhaps downtown would be more convenient given the tourist traffic. At 4 pm, the counter didn't offer much variety.

I orders two pastries, they were quite okay, the strawberry, was a bit burned, but crispiness was still there. Anyways I liked the matcha, it has a very strong taste. But besides that I didn’t like the vibe of the people who were working there. They looked quite cold and it felt genuinely a bit awkward.

Tried 4 different pastries. The fig one was okay but the pistachio, apple and pain au chocolate were quite dry. Food looks amazing but didn’t deliver in taste or texture.

6 euro for a small cappuccino in a paper cup, which was too hot to be consumed immediately . Pastry was a 4.5/5, good leavening and fresh, but way too little custard inside, almost empty. Small dirty tables…

Used to love this place, but the quality has gone downhill. Paid €6 for a cappuccino (even Starbucks is cheaper). It was scalding hot, and the barista didn’t care when I mentioned it. Pastries are also worse now, with barely filled croissants. For these prices, the quality just isn’t there anymore.

Wow, so much hype here! Coffee? Meh, not recommended. Matcha is "okay-ish." The pastries are good... if you like it dry 😅. Seating? Good luck, because it's always busy. Prices? Ridiculously high. And Oud-Zuid... gray, boring, and a bit corny. Seriously, you only come here for the staff and the matcha, which is excellent!

I got the matcha mango with coconut milk here last weekend. Halfway through, I got these strange, gel-like lumps in my mouth. I initially thought they were mango chunks, but they weren't. They were transparent, small, and stringy with a gel texture. I'm genuinely curious what it was.

Great food in a handy location, but can get very busy, so be prepared to wait for a table, or take away if you are going in peak times. Staff were very nice and the fit out is modern and stylish

The food was incredibly delicious, and I couldn't stop eating! Every flavor looked so tempting. The staff was also very friendly 🥰 I definitely recommend trying this when you're in Amu. There aren't many seats, but people come and go quickly. If you're not eating inside, they'll even give it a nice takeout box.

the pastries look amazing and i believe there is a lot of work behind them. i missed the more intense flavour of the butter..the coffee was honestly pretty average, the madeleine was good

Pastries are great in shape, but as a person who has tried the best patisseries worlwide, it could be better in flavor. The crew doesn’t have a welcoming attitude. I went to this place several times, and each time, the crew was either rude or has that attitude of “let’s get this over with”. That’s why I don’t feel like going there even though I live in the same neighborhood..

We came specifically to try croissants, but at 5 p.m. there was nothing left Although the cafe is open until 6 p.m. You need to calculate and make enough desserts so that they will last until closing

Well executed but I do agree with se real comments the cost quality ratio is not the best. I will continue going to the other French pastries of Amsterdam like Grammes or l’abeille they are more generous and less costly.

Very good and very pretty. The flavors are innovative and you can feel a real taste research. One point less for the prices which are still really high.

Last Sunday around 2:45 PM, I bought an iced caramel latte. Made with oat milk. The first few sips were okay, but then a sour taste emerged. Was it the milk, or was it new milk mixed with old milk in the jug? Or had the spout not been cleaned properly? You were all sitting behind the counter chatting and interacting, and there was no action. You should pay attention to the product you're giving away.

It was my first time in this wonderful bakery. I think what these people are doing here is very positive. The croissants are really great on a Parisian level. The service was also quick. The drinks were delicious and beautifully prepared. Everyone was very, very friendly. Unfortunately, the pistachio filling hardly tasted like pistachios.

More like bread not croissant. Very disappointed.

Excellent breakfast pastries. The desserts are incredibly fresh and delicious. The puff pastry is incredibly crispy and fragrant, with a perfect balance between the buttery flavor and the lightness of a well-made dessert. Personally, the dessert with cream and strawberries had an excellent puff pastry base, and the cream filling with strawberry jam underneath was truly spectacular. The rest of the pastry is excellent, though a little pricey even for Amsterdam. You have to factor that in and be honest, but the quality is worth the price.

It all looks pretty, but the taste isn’t what you hope it to be

The price of Matcha is incorrect. The sign says €6, and at checkout, I paid almost €9. I've never paid this price before; the employee said the price on the sign is incorrect. I used to come here regularly, but I don't plan on coming back. You now have to pay extra for the syrup and the plastic cup. They should put the extra prices on the sign. They've lost me as a regular customer anyway.

Don’t believe the hype. Ongezellig (ie. not cosy, not friendly, not helpful or welcoming), laughable service - four members of staff with a half full café and terrace and needed to wait over fifteen minutes for a tea we had ordered to drink with the pastry. Staff’s attitudes even less engaging than the most disinterested and more self conscious than the most cliché self important Parisian waiter (possible the most truly French detail of the establishment) Pigeon inside the premises to boot. Four pastries sampled by our group; only one was anything close to “excellent” (but absolutely nowhere near outstanding) and the others were either slightly stale and / or insanely sickly with little discernible taste (the pistachio cream was decidedly disappointing) or any other detail worth savoring or even commenting on; aside to share hours later still feeling nauseous from said sickly, sugary overload. Four pastries and two drinks, almost forty euros - to then feel hurried out without any pressure of the time of day / people waiting; make it make sense. Save your time, energy, expectations and taste buds - head around the corner to Le Fournil and the coffee bar next to it for a takeaway; that’s true artisanale skill, flavour, texture, taste and experience. Et Claire - simply overblown, pretentious social media hype. So very disappointing.

There was some confusion about the price of the matchas, and as a true matcha lover, it was unfortunately a huge disappointment—absolutely undrinkable, and we left full cups untouched. There were flies on the pastries; we chose the ones without, but they weren't anything special either. For three drinks and two pastries, we paid 50 euros. Absolutely not worth the hype.

Terrific desserts and good coffee

et CLAIRE is a stylish patisserie with friendly staff and a beautifully designed space — no doubt, it’s an Instagram-friendly location. But when it comes to what really matters — the pastry — it doesn’t fully deliver. The location is a bit far from the city centre, and the prices feel overinflated for the quality you get. I tried their signature pistachio croissant, and while it looked great and tasted fine, it lacked the depth and texture I expected. Compared to something like Andersen & Maillard in Copenhagen — which sets the bar very high — et CLAIRE’s version just doesn’t compete. A nice place to visit once, especially for the aesthetic, but not worth going out of your way for if you’re chasing truly exceptional pastry. Good, not great.

First time I went to Et claire, I went 16.30 and there was no more pastries, but I went more times, earlier and got to tried them. They were really good. That’s why I am changing my review to 4.

We ordered 6 pieces. They were tasty. They were light. We didn’t feel very full as we usually feel after having pastry.

Wow, what delicious pastries! I tried several, but the caramel and pecan filled croissant really stood out! It's truly the best thing I've had in my drive, and I'd love to go back tomorrow!

The place is overhyped; after some positive comments on social media, I'm not sure if these are truly honest opinions. The place is small and minimalistic, at first glance. The prices are too high for the quality you get. It looks beautiful, but it tastes terrible. The homemade drinks, including the iced tea, were so bitter I couldn't drink it. Unfortunately, we didn't finish it. Unfortunately, we won't be returning... a shame.

Amazing passion fruit croissant cube!

Since Et Claire opened in Amsterdam, it's become one of my favorite coffee spots. The cortado here is simply one of the best in the city. And madeleines are a chef's kiss (only available on weekends).

For the price of €5, the cappuccino should be offered in a bag and not in a take-away cup

I couldn’t resist trying the pastries at et Claire and didn’t mind paying for the experience. The rasberry pastrie and cappuccino that I ordered were excellent. The staff were efficient and friendly. The premises was spotlessly clean. Definitely recommend tryibg et Claire if only once.

Let’s be clear, this is NOT a French place. It’s one of the many « French Washing » places of Amsterdam. I wanted to buy a Pain au Chocolat there and the price was not displayed. When I asked for the price, I had a bit of a shock and the arrogant salesperson told me that I can go somewhere else. Good tip actually! Le Fournil de Sébastien and other authentic French bakeries make it so much better, for half the price! 👍🏼

The passion fruit cube and mango danish are delicious. As soon as you enter, you are filled with the aroma of freshly baked goods. The flaky layers are crisp and baked to perfection. Must try.

Passed by this cute bakery a few times, finally visited it recently. I'm a little disappointed by the experience because it looks like it has a lot of potential. The regular croissant is over €3, it is lovely but not 3 euros kind of lovely. I've had better croissant in other places in Amsterdam and they areless pricey. The other pastries fit in the same bucket of looks amazing, tastes ok and overpriced.

What a conceptual ‘staircase’ this is! I paid 14 euros for two filled croissants, one savoury and one sweet. That’s okay, if they really are those ultimate ‘butter-layered pastry’ pastries. That’s what they look like… but they don’t taste like that at all. The pastry lacks the sweet/fresh/flaky crispiness and is not much better than that of a supermarket croissant. The fillings were also bland in taste and structure. I would say: Claire, go and taste Grammes, Niemeyer or Saint Louis to see how it should be done.

Pastries were already dry at 2pm. Price on the high side for something that doesn't taste fresh.

It was once great when it first started and I was impressed by the head pattiserie chef. Now, not so much...coffee is very average as are many pastries...but the prices - OMG are eye-watering, ridiculously high! Thank the 'sheep' who worship tik tok and social media without any clue about quality yet cash to burn. And I do agree with many others that the place is sometimes filthy and no one cares to clean it...just look at the mucky floor, yuk!

I came here not expecting much. I was advised to come here by a friend, who told me the viennoiseries were very good. Well they were simply among the best I've ever eaten. No useless sugar, no additional taste, just what they're selling. And they're good at that. As a French person I was surprised to find such qualitative viennoiseries in a foreign country, and would definitely recommend this shop to everyone. If you think you don't like viennoiseries, test this out. If you like them, you'll love it here. Thanks for this discovery, I'm glad I'm not living around because I would be there everyday.

Just the best viennoiserie in Amsterdam! Freshly baked and full of flavor! Very innovative also. I will miss this place a lot!

The visit should have been a party today… unfortunately it was a bit different, very unfortunate. We asked if there was a chair at the very last table so that we would not bother anyone. There was a lot of glass looking and no anticipation in any form. We were almost looked away. The price and the service are not in proportion to each other. Yes, the cake was really absolutely good as far as you can call it baked. I had brought someone along to treat her, for her it is the last time because the service was so bad that she said I really don't want to go here again, never again.

If you are okay to pay €9 for a strawberry matcha feel free to go. Nothing special, overhyped and overpriced

Way too crowded, a lot of influencers, and people who like to bud the line, the staff see this but don’t say anything. The food is good but the price also resembles what you’re paying for. My main issue was the over crowdedness and therefore making the store quite messy.

7 months ago during my visit I was very disappointed as I had to stay in a long queue to see that most of the desserts were sold out. However, I decided to give it another chance and I was very much satisfied, there were only 2-3 people in the line on Saturday afternoon, there were wide variety of desserts, I could finally try passion fruit cube and it was amazing. All pastries were fresh and tasted delicious. I can definitely recommend this place :)

Very honest, I know better bakers. Strawberry pastry was very hard! The cream filling of the other one was tasty. However, 3 pastries and 2 drinks is not worth €60. Really expected the quality of France.

Was there today with my 2 nieces and they previously had a problem with one of the employees (had ordered 2 pastries to go and they were stacked on top of each other in the same small container, so that all the cream on the bottom cake was everywhere, when they asked if another container could be given, she did not want to give it and after asking 3 times it was only given) today the same employee was there as last time and he probably recognized my 2 nieces. When we wanted to order she stayed quiet and waited until we started talking, we stayed quiet because she was the first to greet the customers in front of us in a very nice and friendly manner. After a long silence, the lady said irritatedly "you can order" well we had ordered and received our matcha. This was not matcha but a cup of milk with a mango aftertaste. We saw that she put less matcha and mango syrup in our cups than others, very unprofessional and sad. If I pay 9.65 for a matcha (which is actually ridiculous, but good) I want to taste matcha. Staff who have just started working are starting to become more and more arrogant, because I have never had a bad experience with et Claire before. Hope you do something with this

Today we went to et CLAIRE in Amsterdam South and what a nice place! Everything looks beautiful — from the interior to the presentation of all the goodies. We spent about €20 on a croissant, a passion fruit dessert, a cappuccino with oat milk and a fresh mango-orange smoothie. Everything super fresh, tasty and beautifully served. You really notice that they work here with love and attention. It feels like a moment of pampering, just as they promise with their motto “ne vous contentez pas de moins”. Nice to see how they make all the delicacies (at the back of the store but clearly visible). We would love to come back here again! Please note: not suitable for wheelchair users due to the step

I really like the shop. I go there almost every month. Today I went to there to buy a gift for my friend for her birthday. But the service people put wrong bread and cakes in the box and also broke the box without tell me and changing to a new one. I found it is not nice especially I indicated it is a gift. Besides that the paper bag always break and the rope often through from the hole and led the bag fall down on the ground so that the bread and cakes are also drof down on the ground

really good viennoiserie with very high quality products but quite high prices

I received dirty looks from the staff and was outright denied service until I asked for a manager. I had ordered the Pistachio Cube, but was only given half of it because another customer who made a racist remark about me being Asian, also wanted the last one. I was clearly ahead in line, but the staff didn’t step in or address the situation at all. One employee even put in their AirPods and ignored everything until I took my half and left. To be fair, the pastry tasted amazing hence the second star but that’s the only good thing I can say. With service like this, I absolutely do not recommend coming here.

Very good croissants. We tried the cinnamon bun and the one with cream and raspberries (very good cream, the cinnamon one particular). Is the €7 worth it? Maybe not, but in Italy we are used to other prices. Let's say that for €20 of breakfast it wouldn't be bad to have ceramic cups and not paper ones. The place is tiny, you order independently and bring the tray to the table.
