Today I picked up over €100 worth of food. The order was completely wrong. I called, but they said I ordered it myself. There was no better answer. ANOTHER CUSTOMER LOST, ASSHOLES

Attentive service. Excellent steak, medium-rare as requested, served with fries and vegetables within the requested 45 minutes. We ate, paid, and left satisfied, all for a reasonable price.

The first round of spareribs was tasty, but certainly not the best ever, as the menu suggests. The second round was downright awful: dry and burnt. A cozy atmosphere and excellent service.

We made a reservation a week in advance for eight people and two grandchildren. It was in honor of our daughter's birthday. This was also mentioned when we booked. We had to wait an hour for our appetizer. We weren't asked if we wanted to order drinks, and the grandchildren didn't receive a children's menu until an hour and a half later. The service was terrible; they just chatted with the bartender. The service was terrible and completely lacking in customer service. My husband complained when we paid, but he didn't say anything and didn't offer a single apology. This was the last time we ate here. Never again!

The ladies were really trying their best, but that wasn't the problem. Two ladies was a bit short on this Monday evening. They also had to make the drinks. We mentioned twice that the satay sauce should be separate from the satay. The satay was already taking a while, and then the sauce was poured over it. So, an even longer wait. We went to the server ourselves because we really wanted some of the all-you-can-eat spareribs. The staff was too busy. The steak could only be medium?! Also, do something about the awful smell coming from the scullery. At 5 to 10, the lady came by to say she was very sorry, but they close at 10 pm, so she asked us to leave. There were nine of us. It wasn't our first time here, but probably our last.

Unfortunately the food was very mediocre. We are used to eating well here and being served well. We had not been there for a year and now it was so bad that we are considering not eating here anymore. 3 people out of 8 got sick from the food and 1 threw up the food outside. For the others it was really disappointing. The service was bad. There was a girl in the service who tried very hard to do it right but who had either just started working or had a lot of trouble writing down the orders due to her lack of knowledge of the Dutch language. It was not busy yet so one of her colleagues could/should have helped her or the menu should have been in English on the computer for her. The bowls of water for the spare ribs eaters were forgotten. The table was also cleared while there were still people eating. All in all a very bad experience while it was always so good and cozy.

It's unbelievable how much your prices have gone up...You've really gotten expensive. The food is still super good, but way too expensive compared to before...

Ate spareribs here for the first time after a recommendation from colleagues, delicious spareribs! I'm always a fan of spareribs with a marinade that compliments a dipping sauce and the homemade garlic sauce did it for him. We will definitely come back 😋

met 7 mensen mijn verjaardag daar gevierd met een etentje was weer erg lekker het eten en drinken voor een mooie prijs er waren veel jonge meisjes in de bediening die deden het top tot gauw weer

Disappointing this time. Spare ribs were tasty and served quickly, but the children's menu and fries arrived 5 minutes later. The potato gratin was also missing. I ordered a bit of everything, but it was kind of waved away. As if they decide the side dishes themselves.

Op zondag maar weer eens een avondje spare-ribs . Deze zijn altijd goed . We waren er om 19.00 uur , redelijk vlot geholpen met een drankje en wat brood maar na de opname van het hoofdgerecht duurde het wel tergend lang en ook het nabestellen van wat stukjes extra spare-ribs bleef de tafel lang leeg . Dit mag zeker vlotter want ook het nagerecht duurde lang. Normaal ben ik wel van de fooi maar dit keer mocht het vaan mijzelf niet. Als de keuken niet toereikend is voor het aantal couverts maak er dan een afhaal punt van .

The starters are not normally expensive, around 15 euros per dish. This resulted in high expectations, so we were curious. The fish palette was tasty and prawns were fine. Still less than expected. Then the spareribs. I don't recommend that. Too much marinade and to my surprise slightly spicy which is not on the menu. The piece in the middle was black on top. The meat was easy to cut off. Unfortunately, my girlfriend and I honestly had stomach aches after this evening. The question is of course whether it comes from the spareribs. It was busy so we had to talk loudly to hear each other due to the acoustics. What I had never experienced before is that we were asked to pay while our main course had not even been served?! Mistakes can happen, but it is strange.

I have enjoyed and enjoyed eating here many times, indeed for the tastiest spare ribs, but unfortunately this was very disappointing. Didn't taste nearly as good as before, looked different too, new cook/recipe? The steak was also a gray piece of meat and the chicken livers were not great either. No more salad with dinner, except for that little bit of coleslaw. Hopefully you will do something about this.

Although I agree with the slogan "tastiest spare ribs in the whole world and Leiden", I still have a bad (and wet) feeling about this evening out. It all started because 2 portions of spare ribs came out of the kitchen too few, even though we clearly indicated the desired amount of portions. The service quickly arranged this with the kitchen, except for "sorry for the wait", there was no apology for the wrong order. My table companions' plates were also cleared, even though not everyone had finished eating yet. I find this extremely bizarre. The extra ordered ribs took a very long time to arrive, this was reported to the service twice, only the last time there was an action to follow up on this. The extra ordered fries also did not arrive, not even when the extra ribs arrived. were finally there. Finally we told them that the fries could be canceled if they were not ready. The only response was that it was removed from the receipt, but no admission was made that something went wrong with the transfer to or from the kitchen. As icing on the cake, the waiter poured five bowls of lemon water over my trousers and sweater, by accident (I assume), in addition to an apology and a wet tea towel, without any empathy or compensation. I think this is a shame, it would have been to her advantage if she had come back to this. She did not serve us again for the rest of the evening, this was not necessary. I had wet pants for the rest of the evening and was annoyed by the lack of service from this place. So next time just pick it up again, because there is nothing wrong with the spareribs themselves.

I have been to Eigenwijs several times this year, as a student the all you can eat ribs are definitely worth it and super tasty. Howev er when I went for dinner yesterday(28 November 2023) it was an awful experience. I got asked what I would like to drink and patiently waited for my menucard or to be offered a breadbasket, as this was what was offered and served to all the tables around me. After about 45 minutes I started to trying to get the waiters attention and it was as if he tried his best not to look in my direction but would help other tables in the proccess. I then decided it was best to leave as I felt uncomfortable and unwelcome there. I proceed to leave with half a bottle of wine in hand and was not asked a single quesion as to why this was the case, and of course the waiter who was 'serving' me was busy somewhere else. I paid the bill and left, but I am sad to say I will never be returning after that experience.

Zoals altijd heerlijk gegeten en een geweldige service. Echt een top avond!

Afgelopen jaren al behoorlijk wat keren hier gegeten. Menu kaart verandert niet vaak Verwacht geen moderne trendy gerechten Gewoon goed traditioneel eten zoals je kan verwachten bij het aanzien van dit restaurant. En overduidelijk worden alle gerechten super vers gemaakt en precies dat laat mij al heel erg vaak terug komen.

Simpel kan leuk en ook lekker zijn, maar een boos kijkende mevrouw vol onafgemaakte tattoos, die de borden willekeurig neergooit, met daarop dan wel heel grof eten, inclusief supermarktatjar, opgewarmde satésaus en rare groenteschaaltjes is net een stap te ver. Van anderen op dezelfde avond hoorde ik dat de spareribs en de slibtong niet te eten waren.

What a nice discovery. The restaurant is so cute and comfortable. We were greeted by a very nice hostess and made to feel very welcome. The menu has a number of items that I wanted to try, but I had to go for the ribs. They did not disappoint. They were perfectly cooked and sauced. There were too many of them for us as we are not big eaters. The french fries were also just right. The prices were good especially for the wine. The escargots were amazing.

Spareribs afgehaald. Helaas wel erg duur inmiddels. 2-3 jaar geleden 15 euro. Inmiddels 20 euro en portie friet verkleint. Marinade is heel erg goed. Spareribs zelf zijn best vet en de friet was hard en gebakken in oud vet. Laatste keer voor ons. Personeel is altijd zeer attent.

Lekker restaurant, gewoon goed eten. Vriendelijke bediening, normale prijzen. Interieur is wat aan de donkere kant maar dat is het thema van dit restaurant. Zitplaatsen kunnen wat comfortabeler, de houten bankjes met een los kussentje is niet echt meer van deze tijd. De kaart is heel duidelijk, ook de allergenen informatie is zeer uitgebreid. Aanraders zijn: Spare-Ribs Biefstuk Kobus Mosselen (in het seizoen) Open keuken, wat voor mij altijd bijdraagt aan de belevenis. Je kunt hier ook afhalen maar wanneer je in het restaurant zit merk je daar helemaal niets van.

Blijven super. Haal er al zo lang spareribs en nimmer teleurgesteld. Kwaliteit bereiken is lastig maar nog lastiger om het niveau te houden. Chapeau!

Superfijne plek, goed sfeer en prima eten. Prettige service ook. Enige jammere is de wachttijd, duurde (helaas weer) erg lang voor het eten er was.

De allerlekkerste spare-ribs gegeten

Het was jarenlang een begrip maar heb het idee dat het de afgelopen tijd wat slechter wordt. Minder patat minder saus en kwalitatief mindere spareribs.

Vanwege rokend personeel (erg stinkend) voor de smalle ingang en heftige rioollucht bij binnenkomst zijn wij direct omgedraaid en weer naar buiten gelopen.

We waren bij Nog eigenwijzer, een dependance tegenover Eigenwijs. Twee jonge dames die fantastisch vriendelijk behulpzaam leuk ons bedienden. Kwaliteit van het eten is redelijk goed. Maar de bediening haalt de tent er bovenuit.
