My wife and I dined here last night. After a very warm welcome, we enjoyed an excellent meal! We had a wide selection from the menu and plenty to eat. Not too much, not too little. The plates were beautifully presented. The restaurant itself has also undergone a fantastic metamorphosis. Cozy, modern decor with beautiful light colors. All in all, top-notch!!

We had a wonderful meal at De Flater, and the new owner has done a beautiful renovation. The service was excellent, and we'll definitely be back!

Eaten here years ago, also ate there last year and on Tuesday September 23, 2025 we ate at Flater again and it was delicious again, this time I brought my granddaughter who got a very nice children's menu. I highly recommend this restaurant. If you are in Ommen, go eat there because the food is really delicious and not expensive.

The atmosphere has gone downhill due to misplaced budget cuts, among other things. They've adopted a fast-paced business model. After the renovation, far too many small tables have been crammed into the space, making it impossible for three people to sit at them. Portions have become considerably smaller and are no longer of the quality we were used to with the previous owner. The pork tenderloin was overcooked and tough. A 50cl beer costs €10. We will definitely not be returning.

Yesterday, August 16th, my wife and her three sisters had a wonderful meal at Flater. What a cozy atmosphere and great service! The food was delicious. They will definitely be back!

The staff here is super friendly and helpful, and they have a lovely terrace. However, we were a bit disappointed with our dinner. The chicken satay seemed to be ready-made from a wholesaler. The main course salad with brie contained cold cooked pasta and a boiled egg, and the brie was scattered across the salad. I didn't understand the egg-pasta combination, but otherwise, it was quite tasty.

For our department outing, we started with a fun scavenger hunt through Ommen and ended the day at De Flater. They were incredibly helpful with the 3-course meal, ensuring everything was perfectly arranged for our group. We started inside at a long table where we all enjoyed a delicious meal, and then finished outside with drinks and a relaxing chat. A fantastic place, super welcoming, and definitely recommended for a larger group! :-)

We had a wonderful meal on the beautiful terrace. The service was quick and friendly. The food was delicious, and the kids were thrilled that their mini pancakes were served in a car! We'll definitely be back.

Last Saturday, the two of us enjoyed dinner and drinks at Flater. The terrace looked cozy and clean, and we were quickly helped by the staff. For starters, we had the carpaccio starter and the salmon tartare. These were beautifully presented, but more importantly, also very tasty. The main courses were a market burger and a salmon fillet with skin. The latter was a dish that changed daily. Both were served with a salad and fries. These dishes were also very well received; the burger was especially delicious. The service was friendly and attentive without being intrusive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant felt relaxed and informal. All in all, we had a lovely evening.

Wow, what an upgrade from Flater! We had a wonderful meal there today in honor of our anniversary. The schnitzel, the devilish chicken, and the salmon were top-notch. To top it all off, Arne-Jan served me a truly delicious iced coffee. Highly recommended and a great addition to Ommen!

Sat on the terrace again with coffee and a Radler 0.0. As I'm used to, the service was top-notch and that means I'll definitely come back again.

I almost never write a review, but I did about this blunder. They waited over half an hour for lunch. They then served our 3-year-old a burnt grilled cheese sandwich and our 4-year-old poffertjes (mini pancakes), which weren't enough. (Not a big eater.) We sent the sandwich back, of course, and I find it particularly objectionable that they put the burnt side upside down, so deliberately! The adults had roast beef and an avocado burger for lunch, but it wasn't nearly enough. So, the four of us had a nice regular lunch at home. They have a nice patio, so despite the food, it's probably often full, but the value for money is truly appalling.

We first sat outside and asked if we could eat inside. That was very nice. Brought to a table inside. It took 20 minutes before we got our drinks. Then more people came in and they were helped immediately and got the menu right away. In the meantime we had been waiting for 35 minutes and just as we wanted to leave, the table next to us came to take the food and then finally came to ask what we wanted. This was another friendly lady who did speed up and asked us a few times if there was enough. She also asked several times if we wanted drinks. This lady makes up for it again. The food was delicious. We had pork satay with fries and salad. Definitely worth the wait.

1 of the oldest restaurants in the city of Ommen.. Good food in nice old skool style.

Quality has fallen considerably short of what I am used to. First you call to order by phone, they ask if you have a moment. Then I wait 6 to 7 minutes on the phone and hear at least 5 customers being helped in the background. Then I hung up the phone and called again and said that's a long wait? What do you mean, it is said, I say to the person on the phone. I'm the one who had to wait a moment. Then I was told "ow shit" and no apologies for that. (I understand that you can make a mistake, I don't worry about it that much). Then order was taken. I order a meat croquette, 2 frikandels and a bag of fries. When I pick it up I see that they throw the fried fries back into the fryer for half a minute to 1 minute and then put them in the bag in my bag and so do the rest of the snacks. When I arrive home I discover that the croquette is still cold on the inside, and guess what? the fries were inedible. Don't think it's strange if you reheat your baked fries and give them to the customer. (Dirtiest thing there is). I really regret that night I ordered there. Flater was one of the best in Ommen in the past, quality and price were always good. But now it's a complete mess in my opinion and I won't be back there again. A waste of money, you pay enough to eat out these days, so it should be decent "warm and not reheated stuff"!

Enjoyed a nice sitting on the terrace on a sunny afternoon. After reading the reviews, we thought we would have a nice lunch. Nothing could be further from the truth. The farmer's pancake was mainly dough, the filling was minimal and therefore the taste was substandard. We also indicated this at checkout, but the waiter responded blandly and nothing was done about it. To compress! Never again!!!

We came for fries but it was cold, then we sat down in the restaurant and even though it was not on the menu, children just got fries. We also ate delicious nachos. Friendly staff.

I ordered a healthy Italian roll here for breakfast/lunch. I got a fairly small white ball. For €8.95 I want a regular Italian bun with a nice crispy crust and with Italian herbs. On the other hand, the breakable bread was very crispy and well priced. Almost rusk bread, so crispy... dry. Oh yes, a spoon for the latte? It is more convenient if it does not disappear into the glass. Service was smooth at the start but not really proactive afterwards.

Came here by chance tonight. Nice girls in the service who took good care of us. The spareribs were delicious!!! The meat fell right off the bone, good marinade. Maybe it would be nice to add a cloth to clean your fingers? The nachos were also super tasty.

Both the spare ribs and the schnitzel were inedible, it looked like it came out of the microwave! My mother had ordered ribeye but she was served a sirloin steak. What a terrible tent this is! Never again

On Friday, at the end of the afternoon, we stopped in Ommen to have something to eat somewhere. There was still a spot available at the "Flater". The service was top notch, the service was cheerful, attentive and fast. There was plenty to choose from on the menu. The food was tasty and the plates were well filled. If I ever come to Ommen again, I will eat here again.

Been here for lunch. When we were just sitting on the terrace, it didn't take long before the rain started falling from the sky. Fortunately, we were able to move in quickly. Even though the staff occasionally had to go outside because of the rain, this did not spoil the mutual atmosphere. Inside we enjoyed a delicious omelet. Eating gluten-free was no problem here. Recommended!

We stumbled in after driving from the ferry, having not yet got our bearings or even got our land legs back. This place was perfect - really friendly kind staff with excellent English when we were too tired to try more than a word or two of Dutch, and really great simple food - I had chicken satay, my husband a farmers pancake, and our daughter an absolutely enormous and delicious ceasar salad.

Weekend in Ommen. In the afternoon on the terrace, for lunch. Delicious bouncer, but above all friendly and helpful staff. So we went back inside in the evening for dinner. We both had a schnitzel with different sauces, farmer's vegetables and mushrooms with onion... We sat at the back of the restaurant in a kind of train compartment, which was really nice. But when the food and service were great again, our evening couldn't go wrong. And with all drinks and starters around 70 euros. Very nice there at Flater. So they don't live up to their name. 😉

Pleasant afternoon after a long walk, the food was hot, crispy and tasty. Spacious and decent chairs. Neat and clean toilet.

A very nice cafe to eat. We had veal entrecote and salmon. Unfortunately, the salmon turned out to be undercooked, raw and cold in the middle. Can happen, so they took it back and I got a new moot. Staff was very friendly and we got a drink on the house. It didn't deprive us of the fun, we had a nice dessert and we really enjoyed our meal here. Recommended; good food, friendly and good staff and cozy seating!!

It is a cozy restaurant, nice decoration. Good morning food, I had apple cinnamon pancake, it tasted good, a little too much cinnamon for me. It has a spacious toilet, but no wheelchair toilet, but it does have supports to pull you up and a changing table for babies

For an afternoon drink and food after the walk. A great cafe, nice place, nicely decorated, okay staff. The food was fine, a large schnitzel and garnish were sufficient. For such an eatery, the beer selection on tap could be wider, but otherwise nothing wrong with that.

Was a great tent. But the food was a bit simple. A bit of a chip shop. Also the vegetarian options were a bit mediocre. We had the vegetarian wellington and it is not worth its 18th price. The bread with spreads that would normally not be exposed to much damage also had soft spots. Not really nice crusty bread.

Ate at a goof snack bar (I live in Ommen), normally top service. But this time the fries were still raw and the frikandel special was without mayo and the container was filled to the brim with curry. Bad thing.!

Had a terrible experience there. The food resembles compressed meat remains. In one word, it was unedible. The boss was not able to take any precaution when filing a complaint. Here it is all about making as much profit as quickly as possible. By the way, we ordered satay. This is the biggest mistake ever for me. The restaurant lives up to its name. One big mistake. And absolutely not recommended.

Had dinner last night and lunch this afternoon. Correct, old-fashioned friendly service. Flatter deserves to be earned. In terms of service and food. Pancakes in a perfect price-quality ratio. Strawberry cut ditto. Delicious, tasty tomato soup this afternoon. Each and every one of our staff is great. A modest example of what catering service should be without exaggeration. Less is more and a kind word costs nothing, but is certainly not self-evident! Keep it up ♡

Ordered at twelve o'clock. For what you pay for it, I think they pay very little attention to it and try to keep it as cheap as possible. Ordinary cheap white sandwiches, cheapest square slice of ham and the plate not nicely decorated with salad. Had twelve hours in Hellendoorn last week and it was well attended. Quite a difference. After taking a seat on the terrace I was helped quickly. The service was friendly. The terrace is pleasantly located on a central square. Many cyclists use this facility. The coffee was tasty. The apple pie is significantly of lower quality. Lots of dough and little apple, that could be better.

The only good thing about this place is the service, we waited almost 2 hours for the food. The food came lukewarm, one of the group ordered a dish of 22 euros received 3 pieces of chicken, the quality of the food is terrible here. We will never see our group here again.
