Eating outside in a heavy rain shower isn't exactly ideal either...

Ekkelkamp is known for its ice cream and beautiful location, but unfortunately, the restaurant was not a success for us. On Friday at 7:00 PM, only one meat dish of the day was available. We both wanted this. As a result, one of us had to choose a more expensive dish, without consultation or compensation. I do not believe that a restaurant should offer what is on the menu and then have to say that the dish is no longer available. The service was also disappointing. The bread roll had just been brought and we had only just started eating when the starter was already served. Around 9:00 PM, while we were just starting dessert, we were already asked if we wanted coffee, and the staff were busy clearing up and shouting at each other. The restaurant is open until 10:00 PM! When paying the bill, we were asked if everything was to our liking. We honestly indicated that it was not, but there was absolutely no response to that. The ice cream and the location are fine, but we found the service in the restaurant to be poor. Not recommended for us.

Nice spot with good tea and coffee and, of course, delicious pastries. The hot dog bun tasted very good, but unfortunately the sausage was just a fried chipolata or something; that is really quite different from a hot dog. The service is very friendly and really goes out of its way for the guests! That probably has to do with their age, but it is still worth mentioning!

Everything is always perfectly organized there. It is a pleasure to always drop by.

Delicious ice cream, always busy.

Delicious ice cream! 🍦🍫 I ate chocolate dip ice cream here for the first time more than 10 years ago, and since then I haven't been able to find anything this tasty anywhere else. 😍 We happened to stop by again during our vacation, and of course, I had to try this ice cream again. And sure enough… it was still just as delicious as I remembered! ❤️ Do allow for a wait of about 10 minutes, because apparently everyone here loves this ice cream. But the wait is absolutely worth it! 🍦🍫✨

Had a delicious soft serve ice cream, just plain vanilla with a nut dip. Price, quantity, and taste were just right. I will definitely come back again if I am in the area.

Pure nostalgia for me. Back in the day — and I’m talking about nearly fifty years ago now — we would occasionally go on a day trip to the north. A day at the Afsluitdijk, Emmen Zoo, or just somewhere else. Even just such an outing was something special back then. On the way back to Nijverdal, my father always made sure we stopped in Ommen for a big ice cream. And a day out was special enough, but such a huge ice cream in Ommen made it complete. When my sister later moved to Groningen, there was naturally a good reason again to regularly ‘grab’ an ice cream in Ommen on the way. Even when I was an adult, I would sometimes come back here specifically for that. And now, many years later, I took a beautiful bike ride through Overijssel. The signage almost automatically guided me back towards that nice little ice cream stand in the now somewhat small parking lot in Ommen. So there I was again. Almost sixty years old, with a big ice cream in my hand, and for a moment that little boy from the past again. Still a real treat. :)

Soft serve ice cream here is amazing

The service is extremely friendly and attentive. The cakes are not recommended; they have little flavor. The cake is even blander than my friend's jokes.

The cappuccino was okay, but it should be for that price. Went inside myself to pay. The food was okay too, but not cheap.

We ordered the 3-course menu for 42.50 p.p. There was plenty of choice, but there were extra costs if you chose the steak from the 3-course menu (9.95). If you wanted fries with it, there was an additional 2 x 4.50, and you also had to pay extra for a small salad. So all in all, it costs much more than 42.50 because fries and vegetables are not included. The steak was still raw, not medium. We spent 121 euros for the two of us, including 2 beers and 1 white wine. We will go to a different restaurant next time.

Stop during the drive for a delicious oat cappuccino. Great service and a nice atmosphere inside.

No more than 2 stars today. Apparently holiday staff. They do not meet the otherwise fine standard. We had to walk to the counter ourselves to place our order and were then given a cold sausage roll 🙁. We will come back again after the holidays, because the coffee is delicious.

Best soft ice cream in the area

The food in the restaurant was not what we were used to here. Four sadly small leftovers of fish. The service was slow and inattentive. We were served wine when we had almost finished our meal.

We were sitting on the terrace at 8:30 PM to order a cup of coffee, but we didn't get one because we were told that the coffee machine had already been cleaned; they wanted to go home earlier because it wasn't busy. We were allowed to order a Radler, though, but people were already cleaning up vigorously all around us, so we didn't feel comfortable. Even though the website states that they are open until 10:00 PM! This was already the second time this has happened.

Enjoyed a beautiful ice cream sundae here on the terrace in the sunshine; good ice cream with real whipped cream, generously filled.

Great restaurant. Nice menu, super friendly staff, pleasant atmosphere. Dishes are well prepared. Suitable for both lunch and dinner. Highly recommended. Also great for an ice cream by the roadside!

We ate here on King's Day, and as a result, there was a modified menu. Nevertheless, there was still a reasonable selection on the menu, but only a few vegetarian options. The food was good but nothing special. The service was inconsistent, ranging from very friendly staff to a seemingly uninterested lady who placed the order on the table rather roughly.

As usual, we had a delicious meal in a cozy atmosphere.

First of all, Ommen is a very impressive town. After strolling along the riverbank and soaking up the town's peaceful atmosphere, I highly recommend stopping by for a delicious ice cream. There's a small car park across the street, but it's also accessible on foot. A big thank you to the friendly staff.

At the ice cream parlor, located outside the restaurant, I enjoyed some incredibly delicious soft serve ice cream with my family. The mocha flavor was fantastic, wonderfully creamy and with a real mocha flavor. I'd never had such delicious mocha ice cream. It should be like this everywhere. The young woman who helped us, Tara, was extremely helpful and friendly, and a real asset to the company. In short, get your soft serve ice cream here. Next time, we'll definitely visit the restaurant. Given how busy it is, I think it's highly recommended.

Unfortunately, the kitchen closes at 4:30 on Sundays. But luckily we were still able to order a small snack.

Driving through Ommen, we came across Ekkelenkamp restaurant. The word "patisserie" on the facade was the deciding factor for us to go inside. The display of pastries looked very good. We decided to have lunch: the "de luxe, fish" snack is highly recommended. Soup I had the mustard soup, a salad roll, and two large slices of brown bread. One with a delicious croquette, the other with smoked salmon. It also came with a delicious glass of milk (or coffee, tea, or buttermilk), all for well under twenty euros. Now I just need to choose some pastries for tonight.

The ice cream is amazing. We've had lunch there a few times, and it's also good!

Great, what a super cozy atmosphere and staff

We ordered a satay plate at the takeout counter. It wasn't what I expected. We paid €12.95 for a few fries and a chicken satay stick, served in a large container. A few weeks earlier, an acquaintance ordered this. Satay stick served separately in a container. Large fries were included. I mentioned this. According to the employee, the way it was served now was normal. Well, the price and quantity didn't match. I'll only go back to Ekkelenkamp for ice cream. (Lunchroom is good, though.)

We had another delicious lunch today. The service was friendly and the order arrived quickly. We frequent Ekkelenkamp because it's always good.

Nothing wrong with that, but you're sitting on a terrace overlooking a busy road. For me, it's an advantage because you have a good view of your bike.

Voor een ijsje naar dit terras gegaan. Niet helemaal duidelijk qua rijen, maar dat werd al snel duidelijk. Eerst aangeven wat je wil, afrekenen en dan door naar het loket waar je je keuze qua smaken kan doorgeven. Het was druk, maar liep prima door. Meisje maakte een fout, maar zette dit meteen en netjes recht. Genoeg zitplek op de vele terrassen. Ijs was heerlijk!

The restaurant only serves dinner menus in the evenings. No salads are served. They are open until 10:00 PM, but the kitchen closes at 8:00 PM.

And the ice cream is really delicious, go there once, highly recommended.

I traveled 65 km specifically for this on a scooter. Turns out they don't clean the ice cream scoop between trips. Luckily, I got good advice about my nut allergy. Oh well, I'll have a milkshake then.

Not the prettiest but one of the best locations in Ommen. It is also almost always busy. The service is good and the food as well. Reasonable portions and quality. The coffee and specials are also quite good.

06-25 Had a nice lunch. Quality was good, food tasty. Also a lot of gluten free options. Carpaccio sandwich was tasty and no problems.

Had a lovely lunch. They also have many types of very tasty pastries. You can also just eat an ice cream after cycling.

Coffee was lukewarm. Could be drunk immediately (lukewarm). We reported this, but it was not compensated.

Wat een heerlijk ijs kun je eten bij Ekkelenkamp. Mijn favoriete keuzes zijn ssoftijs met de smaak Yoghurt Limoncello en van het schepijs Hazelnootschuimtaart. Ondanks de grote drukte wordt je altijd snel en goed geholpen.

You won't find tastier ice cream than here. Really great!!!

Delicious ice cream after a long walk

Very busy. The ice cream takeaway was far too busy, so we had a coffee and a sorbet on the terrace. Had a nice piece of lemon meringue cake with coffee and Amerena sorbet, both very good. Helped quickly despite the crowds

Het was in 1 woord fantastisch! We waren er om met onze ouders te lunchen voor de 90e verjaardag van onze vader. Enorm vriendelijke medewerkers, heerlijk eten, snelle bediening, gezellige sfeer. Het is en blijft een mooie en unieke locatie. Niet voor niets is het er altijd druk. Vergeet ook het ijs niet te proeven, te lekker... En het belangrijkste: onze ouders hebben genoten!

Hier hebben we genoten van een ijsje, net als enorm veel mensen. 2 counters met ijs, lekker romig softijs of Italiaans schepijs. Wij komen terug

Had the first soft ice cream of this season. Enjoyed it immensely. More than a great ice cream parlor with a large terrace. Too bad about the few parking options. Especially since the season hasn't actually started yet.

Wat een geweldig restaurant en heerlijk ijs! Het restaurant is mijn favoriet om lekker te lunchen, goede koffie, goede grote van de porties, super lekkere gebakjes, alles is gewoon lekker! Vlotte en vriendelijke bediening die oog hebben voor hun klanten. De ijssalon ernaast krijgt ook een dikke 10, in de zomer onwijs druk maar dat brengt ook veel gezelligheid met zich mee. Kortom, top zaak!
