Restaurant Puik in Ommen

Hospitable atmosphere. This guy knows what he is doing and can tell passionately about the food.

I ate satay skewers, which were dry and overcooked. The fries were okay. I think they're very expensive for the quality they offer. I think the food was €21.95, which adds up to €4 for a drink. They came by three times: once to order drinks, once to bring food, and once to clear the table. (The staff weren't unfriendly, but they could use a bit more service and hospitality). The staff were generally young.

Never again! I initially contacted them and they said they could easily eat gluten-free here. In the end, there was no gluten-free menu, and only one appetizer (a bread board) was gluten-free. Main courses were only available with satay without sauce, ribeye, or salmon. The plain pancakes (not the specials) were also gluten-free. I chose the satay without sauce. It ended up being served with fried onions that weren't gluten-free, so the whole dish had to be returned. I chose a pancake with bacon and cheese as an alternative. This arrived long after everyone else had finished their food. The pancake was super thick and therefore not fully cooked in the middle. Absolutely awful. I will never go back here and I don't recommend it to anyone (with a gluten allergy).

The service was abysmal. The food wasn't great. They ended up playing games... and we, the guests, were forgotten. We left. Such a shame.

Cozy family restaurant. If you're looking for Michelin-starred food, you're in the wrong place. But if you like no-nonsense food, with heaping plates, delicious (draft) beer, and an extensive wine list, then you've come to the right place. We dined here on a Wednesday evening at the end of October, so outside the (sailing) season. We had made a reservation, but it wasn't necessary. There was plenty of room, and we were allowed to choose a table. The waitresses were friendly and up for a joke. Absolutely fantastic. We had a hamburger and schnitzel. Absolutely excellent. The fries, which we upgraded with pulled chicken and Parmesan cheese, were also really delicious. And all for a fair price. Highly recommended!

The kibbeling here has no herbs

Yesterday, after a funeral, a family of 16 had a wonderful time chatting and eating at Puik. The staff was super friendly, everything was arranged, and the food was delicious. Thank you, Puik, for your flexibility and making this possible at short notice.

The food was very good in taste and quality, and more than enough.

The monchou desert is HEAVENLY.

The carpaccio was soaked in a mayonnaise-like substance accompanied by salty nuts. This is absolutely not how carpaccio should be. The schnitzel was limp and greasy. Truly inedible. The fries were overly salty and burnt.

The food itself was okay. The only difference was the rib-eye, which was very thin and cooked way too quickly, barely 1.5 cm thick. Not what you expect from a rib-eye. This one was just bad; otherwise, it was okay. Perhaps I'll choose a different restaurant next time.

We had a cup of coffee and a piece of cake. We found the apple pie so-so, even though it was from Van der Most. Custard on the bottom, jelly on the top. We prefer a traditional/farmer's apple pie to a pastry-style one. The lemon puff was decent but not delicious. The whipped cream looked promising but had very little flavor. The coffee was delicious, and the service was excellent.

We booked the high cocktail for two and were really surprised at what we got for the price of €29 per person! Three drinks per person, a snack platter, nachos, and a small bowl of appetizers! We were also given the option beforehand to choose between a surprise drink or to choose from the menu. The service was super friendly, really great!

Had a delicious lunch with friendly and attentive service. Only the pancake was very thick, so you couldn't finish it all, and that's a bit of a waste if it has to be thrown away... After a long time, I went back and tried the pancake again. This time it was the farmer's pancake. With poached eggs and rutabaga. Unfortunately, the pancake was still too thick, resulting in a slightly undercooked center and crumbly batter. The poached eggs turned out to be fried eggs, and the rutabaga was a sour morsel. Neither the eggs nor the rutabaga added anything special; better to leave them out! I mentioned the eggs to the staff, and they said they would pass it on to the chef. (A few days later, I suddenly noticed that the "poached eggs" on the online menu had been replaced by "fried eggs"?) It's a shame: if you first mention that the pancake is too thick, nothing is done with it. Would you rather throw away leftovers? The pancake itself was good, but again, too much; I gave the fried eggs on top to my partner. Too bad, they should do something with the reviews!

Another delicious meal at Puik! We've eaten there a few times now (dinner and lunch) and we keep coming back. We love the pancakes 😍👌🏼Super friendly and helpful service! We don't understand the negative reviews at all. Our experience was completely the opposite. Thank you and see you next time!

We went there with two children. On the first occasion, one drink was forgotten. When I asked about it, it was all a hassle. I got a comment from another guest because I said out loud that it was taking a long time. Luckily, I'm not married to him. Then I waited and waited for the food. After an hour, I asked. The receipt wasn't correct; you come at the back of all the orders. I didn't have to pay for drinks, and I couldn't because we left quickly. So many staff and such poor service.

We ate a great burger here that was really bad. The menu mentions a tasty real burger. However, it was clearly a ready-made dry burger with a bit of raw vegetables, dried out cheese and hardly any burger sauce. Moreover, the fried egg was missing! Moreover, the fries were really salty! Really bad! And that for 21 euros!!

We went to Puik for lunch today. We would like to thank the waitress Anja for the good and fast service and the nice chat! She is a great asset to the restaurant!

Lousy inhospitable service... Chef who can fry a ribeye to a shoe sole. Didn't send it back because we waited long enough for it. And an employee who, during the entire evening, comes up with the wrong order 5 times. And finally throws a glass of beer over my girlfriend. Chapeau really a great shitty experience...

Had 1 drink in 2 hours. Ordered a starter and main course, after the starter that came after 45 minutes, waited 45 minutes for the main course in between. Service was bad. Every time you have to start yourself

Really nice lunch! Bread smoked salmon was great and also the fried eggs with shawarma was very good. Nice price for a big meal with good taste.

Today on King's Day I bought 2 cones of fries with mayonnaise at Wig. What a dirty, greasy fries with half of the pieces fried black. Very old fat, you can taste it immediately. Too bad they used to be good, the people behind the stall don't even know what frying fries is. Yet another place in the area where it is better not to eat anything...

We waited for an hour before a waitress came to us

Meh. The vegetarian Old Amsterdam burger is not much more than a too small piece of grilled cheese on a too large and mediocre bun. The menu was not very clear about vegetarian options (I can now see the version on the website). Staff didn't pay much attention to us.

I have eaten several times now and the last three times it has been a real disaster. Burnt pancake, hamburger without bacon and onion comes with bacon and onion. Ordered the hamburger today in the same way and now it came with onion again. Sent back to the kitchen. It turns out that the pieces of onion were sorted out because they were still missing a few pieces. What a drama tent.

Poor customer service, problems are not resolved

Had lunch here for the 2nd time last Saturday. This is highly recommended, super tasty sandwiches and super tasty pancakes. If we are in Ommen again we will definitely come again.

The food was very disappointing. We had a delicious and enjoyable meal here 7 years ago. Now the quality of the food was downright bad. The hamburger was tasteless and had a limp bun. The schnitzel was burnt and soggy. The spaghetti sauce was very watery. The service also left much to be desired. We were not asked if we wanted anything else to drink and even after asking for something else to drink, nothing came. In short, we were outside again after 1.5 hours, very unsaturated.

Today we first went to the Sahara in Ommen and then went especially to this attractive restaurant. It had been a while since we were here. It is beautifully decorated, spacious and the specialties here are really too delicious not to try once. Today we went for a supersized pancake topped with pulled chicken and a pancake shawarma! The size was just a little too big for me, so I took a small remainder with me. It really tasted wonderful. The taste of the Pancake itself was a sensation in itself. This restaurant invites you, with its friendly service, to come here more often for a snack or dinner. After a nice walk in the woods in the beautiful nature reserve of Ommen, Puik will be a pleasant ending.

What super bad service on the terrace. This girl did not invent working and certainly has no potential as a catering tiger. She trudged around on the terrace, all the tables were still dirty, she didn't notice the hands that the guests raised. Our ordered drink did not arrive until after 20 minutes, after she had already made us wait 15 minutes. By the way, the coffee was undrinkable and had probably been left to waste for too long when it was served. Food was tasty and it was fast. But that's all there is to it. Even the people around us became grumpy and that was not conducive to the atmosphere. People have left themselves... This is the 3rd time here and 3 times the service was bad. Never never again. Girl, if you don't feel like working, then stay home.

Unfortunately yet another bad experience. Sunday, September 8...Puik really doesn't live up to its name at the moment. Sat for three hours. I had to wait half an hour for the menu to be delivered and I finally got it myself. After the order was finally taken, it took almost two hours for the main course to arrive. (And we were definitely not the only ones who were just waiting and waiting and waiting.... Seeing many customers come and go without being able to eat anything because no one came to serve. So sad) But finally the main menu. ...pancake badly burnt. Then tears almost well up in the eyes of disappointment... unfortunately this was also the case last time. Finally we were asked how they could help us. Free dessert was promised. Finally paid the bill and to our great surprise the dessert was simply calculated. We were completely done with it then... We just paid everything. No more Great for us for the time being.....

Elten is delicious! Only some staff members are not friendly. They do not come to you, you have to look for the menu yourself and then order again.

We normally have lunch here and that is always great. Now we went to dinner. Spare ribs were dry, buns were hard (I also saw other customers coming back with hard hamburger buns), vegetables had no idea what they had done with them but they were still raw. The only thing that was good is the fries. They are just really tasty. Price quality was really very bad. It really disappoints me, even though I can normally always eat well there. No idea what happened. Luckily the waitress would pass it on to the cook. (It probably didn't happen, I didn't see her walking to the kitchen.) So no more dining.

Always good food and fast service. Things go slower on the terrace during the weekend and they don't visit enough. Young weekend staff should be monitored more closely.

Very nice restaurant! Unfortunately, the service leaves something to be desired. Slow service, disinterested. Busy with everything, except with the customer. Don't listen. Remove all empty tables and let the customers who are still there sit at a table with empty plates.

We were 4 people, 3 of whom first received a non-homemade schnitzel, 15 minutes later the salad from the 4th person arrived and our fries with 1 small piece of flat and limp cauliflower and 1 of the same broccoli. The fries were limp. Before we could eat our schnitzel was cold. The staff can't see anything and all the empty tables were full of plates and junk. The staff indicated that the cook was angry and only cleared a few tables when we wanted to leave and the table was wiped clean with a cloth. This was my personal first experience with this dirty and bad "restaurant". While they are in a nice location, this is going to cost them a lot of customers. For the €22.50 they ask for the schnitzel, they would be better off cutting the price in half. We will never go there again. We had desert at Brasserie Tante Pos, where the quality and staff were perfect

After not being able to get gluten-free nachos on another terrace, we moved here. Neat inquiries were made in the kitchen and it soon became clear that this was not a problem. Enjoyed a cocktail and the basic nachos. A great dining opportunity!

A review is of course based on a snapshot, but it really justifies a low score. The location is beautiful and the terrace attractive. The food was not very special but certainly not bad either. A bit boring perhaps, but the taste is ok. The bad experience is in the staff. We had to wait a long time for absolutely everything as the terrace was almost empty. No one checked/asked whether guests wanted anything and there were tables everywhere that were not cleared. There were also guests who rightly walked away who were not helped at all. The boy serving outside stood out in particular as a negative. Young and inexperienced? Fine. Rude and disinterested? No! All in all a very chaotic, disorganized scene. This way you can walk through it better.

Update ✨ Beautiful "tent" but a fifth star still needs to be earned in service and enthusiasm!!!! It has now been a few years and I regularly come here when we leave North Holland 🙃 everything has gotten better and everything is catered for. Hope to be able to come often to enjoy a "club sandwich" for example 😋

Good food, ordered diamond hare but unfortunately 2 small pieces on the plate with more rabbit food than the product itself you ordered. It doesn't matter otherwise, but for 27 € you expect a bit more. And 1 meager bowl of fries which could be supplemented if you wanted to pay, in other words: you only find out later. Never again: poor price/quantity ratio. Too bad because the food tastes good

Had been here before but now took friends out for dinner. Unfortunately this time it was very disappointing. Everything was very meager. Price was quite disappointing. Too bad because the first time was great, now a flop!

Had Christmas drinks from work, can't say anything about the food.

Due to celiac disease I have to eat gluten free. That is possible in this restaurant. Many dishes can be adapted gluten-free, such as pancakes. If you indicate when ordering that you want the dish gluten-free, everything will be fine. I personally had the beef capaccio, tournedos and crème brûlée. Fries, sauces and butter came in separate containers for me. Fries are prepared in a gluten-free fryer/oven. Knowledge about gluten-free seems great! Had no complaints. The others, who sometimes ate high in gluten, also found the dishes delicious.

For us, this is certainly not the first time we have gone here for fries, but it is certainly the last time. I have often experienced that the order was incomplete. Also today. Sauce but also snacks are often forgotten, even with a simple takeaway order for just 3 people. The frying fat was old, which resulted in gray, soggy fries. These errors were reported twice, but nothing seems to be done about it. No apology, money back or anything like that. Staff is friendly but seems inexperienced. In my opinion, there is also little staff retention. Mistakes can happen, but for us the size is now full. Shame.

We had a drink here in the afternoon and then asked if they had room for 4 people in the evening. What a delicious meal we had. Extremely friendly staff and good and quick service. Also helped a lot with making a choice. We even forgot to take a photo. I can recommend everyone to eat here.

Not so great. Club sandwich with thick chunks of bread. Tomato soup watery, not home made and basil cream missing. Pancake was fine and so was tuna salad, but that too was on too thick chunks of bread. Service mediocre.

Food was tasty, some service was a bit slow

Had Rib eye here yesterday, was not asked how it should be prepared, and when I asked if it could be rare to medium, the waitress said that they were all prepared medium because the chef thought that was best. I think they were all already medium baked and just warmed up 🙄 When this was served I received a small piece of meat which was not in proportion to the price, something to say about this. The quality of the food was otherwise fine.

We arrived here on Tuesday... We waited for 10 minutes at a dirty table.... There wasn't a single clean one, everything was full. Staff kept walking past us, people who came later were helped, their table was cleaned... That was the final straw for us. We crossed the street to the pavilion restaurant.... I can highly recommend it to you!! But it's better to pass by.

Just got fresh fries. Was re-fried 3 times while waiting. Looked like black chips. Never again and a waste of money. The reason was that the service was too young, one of which seemed to be there for the first time. No advertising and I was really looking forward to real fresh fries.
