A must while in Amsterdam, even though it’s a small space they were super kind trying to accommodate us. Really creative cocktails so worth trying more than one!

Only giving a 4 because we made a reservation for NYE and did not get a heads up that there would be a limited time on our reservation until we were halfway through our first round. It was a bit of a bummer but the staff gave us a fun parting gift - a cool compass - and their great service throughout and great cocktails offset our disappointment.

The guy at the floor was super friendly and kind, than a lady switched him and was also attentive and always filled the water glasses and checked regularly if we needed anything. The drinks were great, well-made and inspiring. Great experience!

Best cocktails and amazing staff!

Not what it once was. Used to pay 12 euro for a cocktail with complimentary snacks, now 18 euro for a cocktail and just paid olives. At least it's not full all the time any more

there’s a lot of cocktail bars with the ‘theme’ that sounds great on paper, but drastically fails to deliver when it comes to the actual taste and quality of cocktails. this, my friends, is not the case! i went with my husband, and everything we ordered was positively delightful. but what made it truly special was the attention and friendliness of the staff - i truly never felt so welcomed in a bar in my life! thank you so much for the wonderful experience, you made our visit absolutely special!!

The curly-haired waiter called all the girls “mamacita”, which is not his profession… I'm not your mumy! I ordered a cocktail with him, and besides being rude, the cocktail never arrived…

The cocktails were delicious. The welcome was excellent, and they provided information about the cocktails. All the staff were so sweet and friendly, and we were so happy we came here. We recommend it to everyone. Thanks again to the entire team for this wonderful experience. 🤍

I am late with my review, visited in September, but this place!! It was recommended as one of the best bars in Amsterdam and trust me it is!! It is small and elegant and the atmosphere screams chic, sophistication. All this while still being warm and inviting. Impeccable service and expertly crafted cocktails! It is a must stop while in Amsterdam!

Spectacular. The Flying Dutchman is a fantastic spot for cocktails in a unique, historic atmosphere. I particularly love the intimate interior and the welcoming staff—so much so that I found it hard to leave three nights in a row. I highly recommend for a one of a kind, world class cocktail experience.

Great vibe and friendly bartenders. However, Classic Cocktails tasted average and I find the non alcoholic cocktails too pricey for what they are (17€)

Perfect for a romantic getaway! Speakeasy atmosphere upstairs, delicious cocktails, not too sweet… and good music! Note that it's best to book in advance.

The staff is exceptional. The knowledge and depth of experience in crafting drinks for the guests was 5 star. My friend and I went several days in row and each experience got better. The changing drink menu is the start, and once the staff knows you like rum, whiskey, mezcal, etc. The experience and drinks get better! Well done and thanks again for great times.

Fantastic cocktail workshop on a Sunday afternoon with Kostas. An interesting, humorous, and friendly introduction to the world behind the bar. I also got to know the other team members and heard some great anecdotes. Great location; we'll definitely be back in the evening on our next visit to Amsterdam!

The atmosphere is wonderful. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu design and signature cocktails are also delightful. Another great thing is that they prepare not only the cocktails on the menu but also all the classic ones if you request them.

Shout out to Alina and Kostas for taking care of us during our recent visit! FDC cares deeply about their craft and each drink we had was a testament to their passion. The entire experience felt like being welcomed to an old friend’s house while catching up over delicious drinks. Our favorites on the menu were Flying Dutchmen and Umami Margarita. And because FDC is a true cocktail bar, you can let the bartenders know what you like and they will make it happen. Really glad we got to check out FDC and can’t wait to be back soon!

An absolutely charming, little bar. Make sure you reserve in advance as they are small and extremely popular, a must-visit bar should you ever venture into Amsterdam. I'd rank this bar to the likes of Satan's Whiskers in London for the uniqueness along with the amazing bartenders (plenty of humour especially if you get seated in the bar area), they conjure up amazing drinks beyond the quirky menu and classic cocktails.

Rather bizarre experience. 40 min to get in and then 1 hour trying to get attention of the barmen to get a second cocktail while sitting in front of him at the bar (didn’t succeed). All in all 2 hours to get one cocktail, a nice one though. You’re not in a hurry, aren’t you?

We sat at the bar and totally loved all the staff. Everyone was kind and friendly, and we got plenty of recommendations for more fun things to do in Amsterdam. Highly recommend sitting at the bar as it allows you to watch as each cocktail is made, and you might even get some bonus Haribo gummies out of it 😌

Reservations definitely recommended! Small little spot, somewhat loud but not rambunctious. Drinks were great (many options, they can essentially make any drink a mocktail) and staff was very friendly.

We made a reservation, and it was a busy saturday night, so I recommend making a reservation. We were welcomed very friendly, and our table was ready for us. The bartender was very considered of my friends citrus allergy, and made a surprise cocktail for me since I didn't know what to get. It was absolutely delicious, and we were seated right at the bar, so we could see all the bartenders working their magic. Every single bartender had a little chit chat with us, which felt so welcoming and friendly! I also had a mocktail, and that one was just as delicious as their alcoholic drink! We had a fun evening! 100% recommend going here!

An original cocktail menu with seasonal specials that are definitely worth trying. My drink with pear, cinnamon, and bourbon tasted like liquid autumn. The staff takes the time to explain things and smiles genuinely. The interior is modern, warm, and well-maintained. The music is subtle, just right.

There was no place at the bar despite having made a reservation, but to be honest, we were a bit late. The host/bartender did everything he could to make us feel welcome. Delicious cocktails. Small but pleasant cocktail bar with a beautiful interior.

We had an amazing experience last night thanks to the lovely bartender. We went on 28/9. The variety of cocktails makes sure there is something for everyone. I had the milky oolong soda cocktail it was so unique and delicious. But most of all the service was what stood out to us most. Thanks to this place for a memorable evening!

A small and charming place serving perfectly prepared cocktails with the right ingredients. Comfortable atmosphere and excellent service. Reservations are essential given the limited seating available. Prices are reasonable.

We had reservations on Sept 10, 2025, and the staff was able to change my time to a later time. We did not have any food but we enjoyed the cocktails - excellent cocktails (Flying Dutchman and Rocky Rumhattan). I had a folding wheelchair and the staff was able to help me bring my wheelchair inside and they let me use the toilet on the same level as the bar. I truly appreciate the staff in accommodating my special needs. We had a wonderful experience, I highly recommend this cocktail bar.

REALLY great cocktails. The professionalism mixed with how well crafted these drinks were, impressed me very much. I loved all the different spins they put on classic cocktails. It was tiny but still made for a great time. For sure give Flying Dutchmen your business!

This spot is pure vibes.. Cocktails.. Next-level, like legit liquid art. The bartenders know their craft and keep the energy flowing all night. The whole place just radiates good times — chill, classy, and fun without trying too hard. Hospitality? 100/10. If you’re in Amsterdam and don’t hit this place up, you’re seriously missing out.

I hosted birthday drinks for my partner here, with a group of 11. Everyone was super helpful, especially when it came to cutting the cake and handing it out! Cocktails were great too, definitely will be back to try other cocktails. One thing that was a bit sad ( but totally understandable) is that we had to leave exactly after 2 hours as another big group was coming and we couldn’t stay in the bar area. Regardless, it was a great experience!

So far it was the best bar when it goes to cocktail quality that I have been to. Also their infused water was something unexpected and incredible. It is small and has very nice atmosphere. They try to use all the space available, which may make sitting not 100% comfortable. One of the bartenders/ waiters was a little bit chaotic but the rest of the stuff was amazing. Overall, even with some minor flaws I can recommend the experience in 100%!

It's a nice bar, with unique and delicious cocktails. On our last visit, my wife's cocktail was spilled and arrived half-full. We noticed it when the same cocktail was served to the table next to us.

The bar is actually really impressive. Well-crafted cocktails and an insane selection of spirits. Unfortunately you can only book slots and the service personnel is quite harsh enforcing them. We‘ve been a group of 8 and would have spent plenty more, but had to leave after our time was up. Also, next to our group there was a table that has apparently been reserved and people were sent away multiple times despite no one showing up for the entire 2 hours we‘ve been there. The seating area also isn’t very comfortable and inviting. Rather tight, especially for larger groups. I would recommend taking one or two of their fantastic cocktails and then moving down into the Belly of the Beast. Way more atmosphere, fantastic snacks and service and overall an amazing experience!

The drinks were very good. I really liked the atmosphere and vibe. You should probably call ahead as the place is very tight with a bar section, 4 tables and 2 couches. We were lucky that there was space. You can get everything from affordable drinks to drinks that cost $500+ The flying Dutchman drink was a good choice. Starts sour and ends crisp.

We had a lovely time at Flying Dutchmen! When we arrived at our appointment time, they didn’t have a table ready for us due to an oversight. The server immediately sprung into action and more than made it up to us by providing us free sparkling wine at the bar downstairs (Belly of the Beast) while she waited for a table to open up upstairs. She made sure we got the best seat in the house, right by the open window which was lovely, and also gave us free shots of the house punch (delicious!). Thanks for treating us so well on a surprisingly busy night!!!

I went for a drink at Flying Dutchmen Cocktails late one afternoon. The place is renowned, ranked among the best cocktail spots in town, but unfortunately my experience didn't live up to the hype. When you arrive, the backbar, with its huge selection of bottles, is impressive. It's small, very small. The space is confined: a few high tables or a communal bench. You quickly feel cramped, almost cramped. And the ambient sound doesn't help: the music is loud, which makes conversations difficult. My cocktail left a bitter taste, nothing exceptional for the relatively high price. I found the place suffered from a significant contrast between its reputation and the reality. The place is clearly overrated: between the lines (some people even drink their cocktails in the waiting seats), imagination starts to take over from the real experience. The music is loud, the atmosphere noisy, the space cramped—it's far from the soothing and immersive atmosphere expected for enjoying elaborate cocktails. Clearly, some regulars enjoy it, but I came away disappointed. Ultimately, despite some good cocktail ideas, nothing outstanding. Perhaps you should opt for the ground floor space where the menu is different but the atmosphere is much calmer.

Wonderful experience! The team working on 6/29 were very welcoming, friendly and clearly loved their craft. They made masterful cocktails, at a level you’d expect in any great cocktail bar. This is a real gem in an already exceptional cocktail city.
