One of the best cocktail bars we ever visited. We enjoyed the place 3 time in the course of 2 separate visits to Amsterdam, and would sure visit again. The cocktails are interesting and delicious, the staff is friendly and professional and the food is great. Love this establishment!

When we went in at first we weren't so sure...ended up enjoying every moment and every drink. It's not cheap but I felt it was worth it for what we got. Loved the cosy atmosphere.

Mi esposa y yo visitamos Amsterdam por 4 noches - 3 de las cuales pasaron aquí! Tuvimos la suerte de que estaba a solo unos minutos a pie de regreso a nuestro hotel (INK HOTEL). Los dos disfrutamos de bares de cócteles, siendo nuestros favoritos los bares pequeños, oscuros y de mal humor. Los cócteles son excelentes, así como el gerente / propietario y mixólogo (demasiado bueno para tener cualquier otro título). Realmente no hay ningún punto negativo para nosotros. También experimentamos Puerta 74 y barra de cócteles 27 - TALES & SPIRITS era sin duda nuestro favorito. Todos mis cócteles estaban fuera de carta, pero mi esposa simplemente explicó lo que le gustaba y cada vez que el cóctel era perfecto. Mi hígado se ha golpeado en los últimos días, pero ha valido la pena... mi bebida favorita es la MUERTE. El menú de cócteles establece que solo te dejarán tomar dos porque es tan fuerte (como con el Zombie). En nuestra última noche después de haber consumido media botella de vino, otros dos fuertes cócteles de antemano seguidos de dos Muertes; huelga decir que tanto mi cabeza como mi estómago no estaban en buen lugar a la mañana siguiente. Juré no volver a beber nunca más pero -disculpas a mi hígado- ya estoy deseando mis Margaritas caseras de Tequila y Mezcal en Navidad... y si alguna vez más en Amsterdam, TALES & SPIRITS será mi primera (y probablemente última) parada. . . . . . sólo vete.

Very disappointing experience. I visited this cocktail bar today with a group of friends, and we were treated horribly. There were plenty of empty tables, but they told us we couldn’t sit, without giving a clear reason. Meanwhile, other customers—clearly from a different background—were seated with no issue. When we asked for an explanation, they just ignored us. I feel completely discriminated against and let down. I’ve never encountered such behavior, and I will not be returning. It’s unacceptable for racism to be part of the experience at any venue, especially one that should be inclusive and respectful to all.

The bartender should probably re-take a course about good manners and customer service. Geez, the attitude and entitlement experienced were unprecedented.

Este es uno de los mejores bares de cócteles verdaderos no solo en Amsterdam, sino en el mundo. Muy pequeño lugar íntimo. Extenso y creativo menú de cócteles con nombres igualmente creativos, de hecho, humorísticos. El camarero es talentoso y amable. Lo mismo para el gerente y el resto del personal. Hemos vuelto dos noches seguidas y volveremos esta noche, nuestra última noche en Amsterdam. No nos lo perderíamos y esperamos volver! El clima invernal frío perfecto para el Abraham Lincoln Old Fashioned, uno de los muchos tipos de Old Fashioned. Si te atreves, ordena el Zombie (no voy a estropear la parte superior de la terminación como la bebida se sirve!) .

Super tasty cocktails. Good atmosphere. We had to wait a long time for our second drink but it was busy.

I won't come back here again. Every time I come to Amsterdam I make a trip here. This time I arrived at the opening time and the bar was empty. With an injured foot I asked to sit at a small side table for a drink, but was refused because I was just one person. As it is uncomfortable to sit a bar in a cast, I had to leave. The service ruined this once upon a time gem.

I had walked past this place earlier in the day and made sure to return when they were open. I was not disappointed. The cocktails were delicious, and after I ordered bitterballen, the folks there made sure I let them cool down a bit before biting into them. I'll gladly come back again the next time I am in Amsterdam, and I will recommend it to all my cocktail-loving friends.

We came here for after dinner cocktails. It is conveniently located in Amsterdam near central city. Decently priced cocktails that are all very well made. Both of our drinks were very delicious. Highly recommend for cocktails.

Best cocktails in Europe. Delightful atmosphere, entertaining menu. Espresso martinis are divine, not too sweet. Honestly they nail any cocktail you request. Yung is an exceptional server and won’t steer u wrong on recommendations. If u can find it and follow the rules… best hidden spot in Amsterdam. So so impressed. Will return every time.

Welcoming service and nice atmosphere. Cocktails were really great. They also offered to customize the taste on the menu as we wanted to drink something sour. Only recommendation is to have different snacks as nuts, popcorn or usual chips.

Dark but cool place...my friend ordered a gin and tonic ...it came with 3 different type of bugs in it...real BUGS....they apologized and got a new one...thought they might comp that one...nope....so maybe it's dark for a reason....check your drink before drinking...

Went to Tales and Spirits in 2011 when they first opened their doors... and to say they've upped their game (now being 2018) would be an understatement. There is plenty of choice for a great cocktail for anyone. The food is very good as well.... We will be back again soon. Thanks for the superb service as well! Our favorites: A New Hope (yes from Star Wars) and Il Viaggio... Enjoy! An update for 2024... Still on top of their game and creative. Excellent cocktails and great service!

Very inventive cocktails made with great techniques. I was a little overwhelmed by the menu so I asked the bartender for a recommendation and he really delivered! I was only there for a short time so I only got one drunk but would have loved to explore more of the menu.

For sure, Tales & Spirits is one of the best cocktail bars in Amsterdam and a must visit if you are into this industry. Both cocktails and hospitality are second to none. Menu is really good, I recommend trying either one of the house specials or the T&S favorites. My favorites: What if? and Little Miss Troubles. Excellent drinks and amazing service.

Great little cocktail bar in Amsterdam. Very casual and nice outside seating, good drinks and great small tapas style food to offer. The cocktails dont disappoint and are crafty, complex, potent and enjoyable!

The place with the rudest receptionist in Amsterdam. In our group of 5 friends, 2 of us came first and told them that there would be 5 of us. Even though the big table was available, he told us that we could sit at the table for 2 people until our friends arrived. After 5 minutes of waiting, he came to us for the 2nd time and said "you are waiting here and you are not drinking anything" it was “kindly” kicking us out. As we told him as well: he is the rudest person I have ever seen in Amsterdam. You don't have the right to treat people like this because you work in a popular place.

I wish we found this place sooner. Would have gone every night of our trip! Cocktails were balanced and service was exceptional. Some of the best food we’ve had in Amsterdam were the small plates we ordered here too! Ordered: truffle risotto, bao buns, chicken karage, the girl next door cocktail and the nutcracker.

Must go cocktail bar if you are in Amsterdam. Every drink was interesting and well balanced and delicious. The food was bomb. The atmosphere and music were fire. Highly recommend the Nutcracker Old Fashioned, The Girl Next Door, and on the food side the Chicken Karaage and Truffle Risotto.

Nice little bar! Interesting decor, but very impressive and beautiful. The drinks menu was also designed in an exciting way and although there were no non-alcoholic drinks there, they made me a special cocktail exactly to my taste and it was also very affordable! Gladly again!

Immediately welcomed by young and super kind, friendly and nice guys. Cocktail bar with interesting ideas and a great desire to experiment, just how I like it. The service includes, in addition to the cocktail of course, corn chips with homemade chutnay and a bottle of water to dilute the excess alcohol and enjoy a more homogeneous and correct drink. Much appreciated, it should be like this in every service. Excellent cocktails, well balanced albeit with an eccentric touch that doesn't hurt. If you love this world, you are at home here. PS: the menu itself is a small work of art

Ended up here by chance. Were warmly welcomed and provided with snacks. With homemade dip! The cocktail menu invites you to browse. Many creations with their own story. We have never had cocktails like this before! A little more expensive, but worth the price. Gladly again! The bar is an experience.

Tales and Spirits in Amsterdam is an absolute gem! The drink menu is second to none, offering an impressive variety of creative and expertly crafted cocktails. Each drink we tried was a masterpiece, bursting with unique flavors and presented beautifully. The ambiance is cozy and inviting, and the staff is both knowledgeable and friendly, making excellent recommendations. This place is a must-visit for cocktail enthusiasts. Explosive experience!! Sitting at the bar watching these lads shaking cocktails all evening while making you enjoy a wonderful variety of drinks. The experience starts with little bites of yuca, preparing yourself for the next step: a menu presenting you wonderful stories about each cocktail. Do you want a fire experience, try the cinnamon one and enjoy the flames. We tried half of the menu as the evening went on, just because the ambient carried on it. Each of the colleagues at the bar makes the experience unique. A must in Amsterdam!

This bar used to be good, I frequented it regularly for years, to the point where the employees recognized me. However, the stupid receptionist who doesn't know how to treat customers and never knew how to welcome people was the worst part of this place. It was extremely rude and he thinks it's cool, completely wrong. The cocktails were bad, watered down and unbalanced. Now there is no reason to return here, look elsewhere, in Amsterdam you will find better cocktails and a cleaner and more beautiful environment.

Excellent cocktail bar, with a unique menu. Quite a lot of noisy tourists. The staff just joins in and doesn't speak a word of Dutch. The female waitress in particular could still learn something about hospitality, bon was just not thrown off the table. I think there are plenty of other cocktail bars where you get better service for the same money.

This was a lovely bar full of character, with interesting decor and cocktail themes. We were served by a lovely bartender who made me my own personalised cocktail. The bar had a very friendly, relaxed feel and we would definitely have visited again if we were staying in Amsterdam for longer.

Super cozy cocktail bar with super friendly staff. When you enter they welcome you with a small snack, free of charge. In addition, the cocktails are super tasty and they are not the average cocktails that you are used to, they are more special cocktails. When you bring your cocktail you will also receive a free bottle of spa water, which will be replenished when it is empty. This way you stay hydrated. The cocktails are a bit more expensive as they are special.

We was told to wait outside but after a little bit we popped our head through the door and they welcomed us in. We sat by the bar and this place had the most friendliest staff, best drinks and atmosphere, my favorite bar. Honestly could not say enough good things about this place, the staff were fun to chat to, welcoming, the drinks were of a high quality, it was fun just being in there and soaking in the atmosphere. Great place and would recommend this place to anyone!

We were so lucky to stumble across this hidden gem. This is a serious cocktail bar with amazing menu us and ingredients. Taff were brilliant and the cocktails were the talk of the trip. The zombie was something to behold!

A great bar isn’t just made of great drinks - but great people too. This is one of the nicest places you’ll ever visit. And the drinks are great. Update 2024: Still, after so many visits, it’s high time to change up the menu a little, which seems to be a little alarmingly rooted in the past.

It would be great if they can mention on the menu which drinks are vegan and which drinks are not vegan! Also it would be great to have some vegan snacks on the menu, like vegan bitterbals. Great bar!

A cozy place with a dark brown interior and a bar with a huge chandelier above it. The cocktails at Tales and Spirits are very well and professionally made, making it a nice place to just have a drink! But the dishes at Tales and Spirits Amsterdam are also delicious and the plates are beautifully arranged into small works of art.

Super nice and cozy atmosphere! The cocktails are excellent (a little expensive... count on average €16 per person) but the welcome remains very pleasant with peanut chips, onion compote and a small bottle of Spa water offered to everyone.

Amazing cocktails and service in a very beautiful shop

(Review after visiting more than 10 times) In my opinion one of the best cocktail bars in Amsterdam. Their no-reservations policy is on the one hand annoying because you never know whether you will have a spot (for a date night, for example), but it is also helpful to know that the location is so popular that no reservations are needed to attend. to fill the bar. Each cocktail is well thought out and prepared like a show by the 10/10 bar staff. You always receive a warm welcome and the guests' coats are neatly accepted and hung up, so that the bar itself does not look like a cloakroom. Personal favorite is the 'Zombie' cocktail :) The atmosphere is pleasant and it is useful to know that apart from champagne and spa red/blue, nothing other than cocktails is served with every cocktail (so no beer/wine/soft drinks). What is also great about Tales & Spirits is that you can specifically indicate to the bar staff what kind of cocktail flavor you want and what you do not want in your cocktail, for example. The staff knows the menu very well and can give excellent advice (or you can be surprised). Extremely enthusiastic about this location and would recommend it to everyone (but you have to have the money for it).

Cozy and nice cocktail bar with delicious cocktails. Location is also funny, it doesn't get more Amsterdam than that. If you like tequila and mescal, definitely try the el morte (if I say correctly - see photo) Bartender was very knowledgeable and gave us excellent advice. We will definitely come back :)

The best cocktail place in Amsterdam. We always come back to it after 2 years living in the city. The personnel is fantastic. Very thoughtful, always with a smile on. Cocktails are well balanced and very original. Extra bonus: playlist won’t disappoint you. One tip: just give it a try you will not regret it. Only warning is that you might get addicted to it…

It's a really great place. The cocktails are amazing. Service is really good. Only downside is that it is very small. Getting a table is kind of getting lucky or wait until one is ready.
