We had dinner on the terrace, enjoyed some drinks, and smoked a cigar. The food was excellent, and the waiters were attentive and very professional, explaining each whisky. The atmosphere was relaxed.

Great service and amazing drinks! Servers were very friendly and attentive. They refilled our water, snacks, and came over whenever our drinks were low. I ordered Love or Fear and Gimmie Rest. I forgot what my friend ordered. All the cocktails were really good!! Highly recommend!

As a cocktail lover who has tried cocktails all around the world, I can say their drinks are truly delicious and beautifully crafted. 🍸 And serversare knowledgable as well🫶🏻 The prices are very fair, especially considering the location right on Dam Square. The quality, creativity, and atmosphere make it one of my favourite cocktail bars in Amsterdam. Definitely a place I would recommend to anyone who enjoys a great cocktail experience.

We had a splendid time at The Tailor with Fabio preparing our extraordinary classic cocktails. We know what we like and our choices were prepared to perfection. Glassware is frozen in advance, then liquid nitrogen is added to super-chill. We sat at the bar and were very well entertained by the crew and the barman’s techniques. We’ll definitely return. Great value if you’re into the art of mixology and appreciate the classics. We had several.

The staff is super friendly and make your dreams come true in terms of cocktails. They have a great cocktail menu, but you can also ask the staff to make their own interpretation of cocktails or even flavor you like. We went in with a baby and were treated super kindly and were well taken care off. Thank you to the team!

Good vibe inside and also have a smoking area adjacent. There is an option to buy cigars while you have a drink with friends. And also you can order some snacks. The bartender Samuel served our drinks and was amazing to explain how he prepared our drinks.

I’ve been looking for a cigar-friendly lounge or bar, and I must say The Tailor, which was recommended to me by a cigar shop, did not disappoint. We were looked after by Dimitri, who was outstanding—professional, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. He made the experience for me and my team truly memorable. Great food, fantastic cocktails, and a wonderful atmosphere. I highly recommend it. Thank you to Dimitri and the team for such a pleasant experience.

Last visited January 2026 Tend to visit once a month. Great staff, I'm usually sat at the bar being entertained and intoxicated by the guys behind the bar. Solo Traveller: The bar is large enough to eat and drink at the bar. Major plus point. The staff will keep you entertained.

The Tailor is located inside the Krasnapolsky hotel in Amsterdam. I visited here to grab a drink before heading back to my own hotel. I had a mixed experience here. The service was great, after being seated down by the bartender, I was given water, peanuts and a welcome shot, and the menu had some interesting choices, while the prices aren’t low, I found drink prices reasonable to be in a premium, central hotel. I was originally confused about what to order, so I ended up speaking with my server, who asked me a number of questions to find the right drink for me. I ended up going for a drink with a pistachio foam. I did mention I didn’t want my drink to be too sweet, and I found the drink to be exactly that, it was so rich, and mainly foam, so I wouldn’t order this again. I did like the vibes of the interior, it was dark, comfortable, and definitely gave relaxed vibes, although it could have been cleaner, as there were some crumbs on the seating. I had a good time here, but my drink could have been better. I would return on future trips to Amsterdam, but it wouldn’t be my first choice.

Speakeasy bar of beautiful decor, located in Anantara hotel which already tells enough qualitywise. We were guests of hotel and there is nothing I loved more than having few drinks here and then going out. The bar was always almost full and the place is both elegant and vibrant considering its location. I loved it. Creative bartenders always met my needs and delivered every time. Saying hello to the entire team and one special thanks for Macedonian bartender!

a rare cigar bar in Amsterdam at night

Was there last month with my girlfriend for drinks. After paying my bill, the waiter told that the transaction did not go through and asked me to pay again. I gave him the benefit of the doubt and paid again. When I checked my bank statements both transactions went through. I showed him the transactions and he promised me they will refund it within a week. Now almost a month later they still have not refunded me and they ignore my email. So just skip this place or refuse to pay twice if you want to save a lot of headache and time.

Delicious food and mocktails but the service was so so. Wrong orders, forgotten orders. Maybe an off night by chance. Smoking room was not closed off, got smelly.

The moment you enter, the welcome and service was amazing. Selection of drinks and cocktails were perfect, they offer a variety of cocktails however if you have a special request they accommodate and make it perfectly. The bar bites and food were great quality and perfect for a couple of hours with drinks. The waiters were attentive and friendly, service was impeccable.

I really want to thank the staff, which are always so nice, so attentive and so welcoming. The cocktail menu changes by season, today I had the "Breakfast in Paris" and it was delicious. Quite a unique spot. I had a pleasant evening for drinks and a small bite. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The menu for cocktails is special with a very diverse and good selection. Even the offer of having cigars at the bar is unique. Staff are extremely friendly and always willing to help.

My friend and I stayed at the Hotel Krasnapolsky in 2018, and to our surprise the locals highly recommended the cocktail bar in our very own hotel. We went, and we did not regret it then, nor on our return trip in 2025. The service, surroundings, and drinks are all impeccable. A+

An absolutely beautiful bar inside an iconic hotel at Dam square. There's absolutely no urgency to seat you. I waited at the sign where it said to wait for 10 minutes. After no one came I approached the bar and was told to wait longer - I left. The sad thing is that the bar was empty. I guess they don't want or need my business. UPDATE... Visited July 27, 2025 and what a different experience. I was greeted and sat with a smile from a very friendly host I took my drink order immediately. I'm so happy this place got its act together it's a beautiful bar and a beautiful hotel and it's finally acting like the classy place that it is!

The guys made sure were always taken care of! Chris, Dimitris, Rocco, and Octavio were absolutely incredible. They explained all the menu and let us try all the cocktails, even the ones we didn’t order. Truly and incredible team. Be prepared to laugh, enjoy the beautiful atmosphere and drink and be treated like royalties.

Pricey but good cocktails on their menu. Where they lost the stars: supposedly known to be a bespoke cocktail bar but when I tried to describe a cocktail with mezcal base, got cut off by the waiter and instead told to pick one from the menu. So because of this I’d recommend going to a different place.

Nice bar in Amsterdam. Usually not that crowded

Even though my cocktail was just finished and my friend’s was still not finished, and I clearly said I wouldn’t be drinking anything else, they brought the menu 3 times at five-minute intervals and insisted that I had to order another drink. This is not an ordinary place, and such poor pushing service is completely unacceptable.

The service was perfect. They even took the trouble to create a cocktail to satisfy a request which was very appreciated. I can only recommend this bar with this magnificent atmosphere with my eyes closed!

I won a voucher on social media for 2 cocktails and a festive platter for 2. I made the booking and we visited yesterday evening. Upon arrival you are greeted and seated and offered some bar snacks, water and a welcome drink. Our drinks and platters were brought to us and I must say both were very impressive. We ordered some extra drinks, wine and truffle fries which were great as well. The bar and hotel are quite impressive and I must say I was quite surprised by how affordable the drinks and food on the menu was considering the beautiful location. Service was honestly the best I have experienced in the Netherlands thus far.

First night it took 40 mins to receive our first and only drinks (because we didn't want to wait another 40 mins for basic drinks). 2nd night received them in about 10 mins. Either way not worth it. We only went here to use hotel credit we had. Expensive and mediocre service/drinks. Better off going across the street.

One of Amsterdam’s best cocktail bars, on the more classy and sophisticated side rather than casual which I love because it is more professional and attentive in service. It is located inside the prestigious Anantara Grand Hotel in Dam square. Their menu is very creative and right now they are focusing on Chemical Elements, a cocktail menu inspired by the periodic table. Love it!

One of the nights we were in Amsterdam we went to this bar that was located in the hotel we were staying in, the staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. As you sit down, they bring you a couple of starters, a small glass of a liquor that we don't really know what it was and a style of small cake, both very delicious. After ordering the cocktails they also have the detail of bringing you a small assortment and a couple of glasses of water that come in handy. Our experience with the cocktails was not the best, we did not choose well and we did not like the ones we ordered. But in the end it is something that depends on each person's taste, the bar is not to blame. Of course on our next visit to Amsterdam we will stop by the bar again but this time to order something else and see if we have better luck! Or we will let ourselves be guided by the waiter.

When we go there, nobody said welcome and then employee asked inside or outside, when we decide to sit outside as 4 people. 5 minutes later he asked to change table. We said OK no problem. Then he said it is OK we solved, no problem. After all they never asked any order for 40 minutes. We went inside and said we are ready to order. Nobody cared. We just went out and passed other place. No service. No customer relationship. No pleasue. (They said : OK if you sit this table and we will not ask your order)

During our stay at the Grand Hotel Krasnapolsky we have been in the bar. The ambience was very nice. We ordered our drinks which arrived quickly. The bar has a big variety of alcohol all around the world. We had to wait longer for our second drink because the waiters were temporarily busy with themselves or obviously gave preference to regular customers. The nonsmoking area inside is divided with the smoking area outside by an automatically opening door. This door opens and closes slowly and with the movements of the waiters and guests in this smoking area, cigarettes and cigar smoke was blown in every minute. We canceled the third drink because of the smoke and the waiters which looked straight through us .

The quality of the service and the cocktails has significantly decreased since the last years. Very disappointing.

I recently had the pleasure of having some drinks at The tailor in The grand hotel Krasnapolsky and I must say, it was an exceptional experience, especially for those who appreciate finely crafted mocktails or for those who drink cocktails. What really sets this bar apart is their exceptional menu. Each drink was a masterpiece, showcasing a blend of unique, fresh ingredients that were both invigorating and delightfully refreshing. The "Naias " was a particular standout. Sweet, fruity and spicy. One of the best mocktails I have tasted after travelling 35 countries. The staff at the bar were also exemplary; knowledgeable, attentive, and genuinely enthusiastic about their craft. They were eager to recommend drinks based on personal taste and even shared some of their techniques. Overall, the experience was fantastic. Whether you're a local or just passing through, I highly recommend stopping here for a memorable evening of refreshing drinks.

The best the best the best (say 3 times what matters) 🥹 the best bar I have ever been too. I have been to 35 countries FYI. This is comparable to The aviary. Well I can say the aviary is exceptional in both presentation and taste, but this place is also very creative!! Come and collect their cocktail card!

Fantastic bar, as soon as you enter you are welcomed warmly. We chose to sit at the bar and they welcome you with bar nibbles and water. The drinks menu is brilliant and the staff are very helpful. The prices are very reasonable when considering the atmosphere, quality and service. If you want a nice place with friends, and especially a date or your partner, this place is a must. Very chilled place too. Would definitely return in the future too.

Why have a cocktail menu if half the cocktails are missing? Stick to the simple stuff. Staff were nice enough if you are able to get their attention. Underwhelming and over priced but seems like that’s a running theme with this hotel

Visited on a Saturday night after having a fantastic dinner in a nearby restaurant. It was quite busy and we were sat at the bar. Decor is nice and in general the vibe of the place was good. Mostly tourists. The cocktails were good and came with some nibbles and a glass of water. The biggest issue we had was the awful service. We were served by the bar tenders themselves who were making the cocktails. One barman a smaller guy was ok but the other barman - taller with tattoos- was extremely rude and unpleasant and had zero people skills. He is in the wrong industry. We left after one drink

Terrible experience, mice infestation problem and despicable attitude of the staff, who are aware (“it’s Amsterdam!”) and are only worried if you’re a hotel guest. Please someone get them kicked out of the Amex Fine hotels + resorts program

So first on the negative side, no coffee, and cigars have to be smoked outside, and there are no gas burners outside. Still 5 points otherwise it would be 7! Why? Because the cocktails 🍸 are delicious! Because the staff is really amazing, because every snack is a taste bud explosion

Proper cocktails made with care. The bartenders know their craft, have great attention to detail in what they do and are happy to make suggestions based on your taste. I had a top-notch Whisky Sour (very smooth) and then a Morgenthaler’s Amaretto Sour, as recommended by the bartender. Superb. Also, great madeleines that they serve you at the bar. But then, I do like a good madeleine.

The waiter was not honest, and over charged the bill, also he refused to show a copy or declare that there was a minimum charge, 3 ginger ales cost was 50 euros, the most expensive in country, also he mentioned that a cuban cigar minimum 3 times the charges on the bill of its cost, while that was achieved with his minimum was met, and he dictated without prior announcement at the end, he refused to provide the cigar, what a shame for Ananantra as a international hotel to host such unprofessional employees to their clients.
