Beautiful place, delicious food and friendly staff! Recommended this place, especially with children.

For years I cycled past Fort de Gagel towards Maarssenveense Plassen. It has now been transformed into a special restaurant and you can enjoy drinks, food and a party here. A friend celebrated her birthday here and it was dancing!! In a nice room with its own DJ and bar. We were also allowed to visit all the other rooms. Through old corridors and stairs, via the restaurant to the terrace. A really accessible and attractive place. Afterwards, a nice Jeep was ready to drop you off at the parking lot further away. Really nice! I will come back soon for a delicious meal!!

As a wedding photographer in Utrecht, this was the first time I visited this location. Fantastic place for a wedding. Excellent fast cuisine and great service.

We celebrated our wedding here, a completely vegetarian walking dinner and drinks prior, for 40 guests, on the mezzanine. Due to unexpectedly nice weather at the beginning of April, we asked on the day itself if we could hold the reception outside for the first hour. This was arranged spontaneously. The service and food were fantastic, we had a great day and will definitely come back to enjoy our wedding day!

Na een wandeling gingen we weer eens bij Fort de Gagel wat drinken en iets kleins eten (nachos). De nachos waren erg lekker en de rose ook en we wilden nog een rose bestellen maar hoe we ook zwaaiden of op een andere manier de aandacht probeerden te krijgen van het bedienend personeel...., niets lukte. We waren al niet onder de indruk van de service maar nu was het abominabel slecht. Afgezien van het feit dat je als restaurant meer omzet kunt genereren door op te letten als de glazen op tafel bijna leeg zijn en dan beleefd te vragen of de gasten nog wat willen drinken, geeft het ook een zeer onprofessionele indruk. Daarnaast is het ook attent om even te komen vragen of alles naar wens is. Gebeurde ook niet. Toen ook de pogingen mislukten om personeel aan onze tafel te krijgen met een rekening en een pinapparaat (personeel zit op zijn/haar telefoon te kijken of is in gesprek met een vriendin die langs komt) zijn we maar naar buiten gelopen, want dan komen ze vast wel achter ons aan, maar nee hoor.... Beste restaurant de Gagel : ik wil graag betalen voor onze twee rose's en de nachos. Laat een bericht achter op deze site en dan kom ik langs om te betalen. Zoals u wellicht zult begrijpen, zonder fooi.

Fraai restaurant gesitueerd in oud Fort. Heerlijke en fraai uitgevoerde gerechten voor iedere smaak. Gezellige indeling met ronde tafels en mooi zicht op het buitengebeuren. Vriendelijke jonge bediening met aandacht voor de gasten.

Good food, nice setting, and friendly staff. However, portions are too small for what they cost. 26 euros for 1 fillet of sea bass with some samphire is really too expensive. And then you don't even have fries with it. Please increase the portions a bit because price/quality is under pressure.

Nice place, in nature and you can still clearly see the original fort. Lunch was very tasty and the apple crumble for dessert was delicious. Also great that it was accessible by car.

We hebben weer fijn gegeten bij Fort De Gagel. Het eten wordt mooi opgemaakt en smaakt heerlijk. De sfeer in dit eeuwenoude fort blijf bijzonder en de persoonlijke aandacht van het personeel voor ons en het feestje dat we vierden maakte de avond heel speciaal!

Excellent salad, but for 19.50 there was relatively little trout. In the photo it looks like a lot... but it isn't. Especially (farm-fresh lettuce). I understand that you want to make a margin...but this? shame and unfortunately.

De ambiance is aardig. De kwaliteit is goed, De prijs is iets aan de hoge kant maar geen reden om een lage waardering te geven. Die lage waardering geven wij omdat bij het afrekenen bleek dat bijna 20 euro in rekening gebracht werd voor gerechten die wij helemaal niet genoten hadden. Dat zou een misverstand geweest kunnen zijn maar de reactie op dit "misverstand" was dusdanig dat het bij ons een onprettig gevoel van onoprechtheid achterlaat. Onze conclusie: Ga daar gezellig en best wel lekker eten maar controleer je rekening zorgvuldig.

We had a wonderful brothers and sisters day at the Gagel. The staff, and especially the lady who took care of us in De Wachterij, made for an unforgettable day. The shared dinner was of great class! Kudos to the cook. The location was also a pleasant surprise; The Waiting Room was specially designed for us so that even guests who had difficulty walking could fully enjoy it. All technology (screen, stage, etc.) was in perfect order and this made the live music of the duo Alice and Jip stand out even more. This is certainly a location that I will recommend to friends and acquaintances. Thanks again.

Adjusted my review after your kind reply. My experience as a vegan yesterday wasn't very good. There weren't many options on the card and the staff that served us didn't seem to know about it, they were kind and young though. The owner adjusted the menu and reprtinted it. I think that is very thoughtful and is fine service. Thank you very much. I might return with this knowledge.

The afternoon was beyond our expectations. There was a relaxed atmosphere. The service was quick, cheerful and polite. We enjoyed the drinks and snacks. The kitchen was done justice. Everyone was full of praise for the entire ambiance. Thank you for this wonderful afternoon.

When we entered we noticed the commotion. It's quite noisy. This restaurant is well visited and all tables were occupied. We had a gale platter with various snacks as a starter. The fried snacks were not even warm, but lukewarm. This led to the suspicion that the drinks board had been on the expedition for a while before it was brought to the table. Then we had to wait quite a long time for the main courses (about an hour). The Steak fries were supposed to be medium-rare, but turned out to be quite rare. A smart vet could have resuscitated the cow, so to speak. This (very small portion of bavette, estimated at 80-100 grams) was also not warm, but again lukewarm. Very unfortunate. Taste was ok, but not really pronounced. the children's American pancakes were very poor and the children collectively did not have enough of these, so we ordered a portion of fries. The desserts were good.

Nice location on the edge of Utrecht. The food was tasty, but lukewarm when served. We also had to wait a very long time for the main course. We got there at 5 p.m. and started with a snack board as a starter. Main course didn't arrive until 6:30 PM, followed by desert which was served quickly at our request, so we finally left at 7:45 PM. The portions are not very large and I am not a big eater. But the flavors of the food were really good.

What a nice spot in Utrecht. My mother turned 82 and had reserved lunch for 3 o'clock. Delicious food, the white wine is very tasty and was included in the package. Nice environment, well cared for and very friendly staff.

I know this Fort from my youth. Played and fished on and around this fort. It has been beautifully renovated. It still remains an exciting place and even more surprising than before. Terrace, jeu de boules court, sandpit, catering. And everything can now also be viewed inside. The restaurant and bar still breathe the atmosphere of the fort. Many original details have been preserved and the atmosphere is enhanced by the furnishings. The children have also been thought of, who are given plenty of space and activities here. Lovely place....we walked in the Gagelpolder and had a few drinks here and will definitely come back again

The food (hamburger) is reasonable to good. Somewhat sober in the decoration. Could use a little more love and surprise. Staff friendly but somewhat inclined towards (business) aloofness. Atmosphere and environment (the space and the audience) are very good. More than sufficient.

Group event, unfortunately not enough place for everyone to be seated. Luckily the dishes where small bites where you can stand and eat, but it wasn't the most comfortable way.

What a bad tent this is. Meager portions. And if you leave a critical review, they will call you. You don't call customers after a review. There is a reason that customers leave a review online because it has not been taken seriously on site.

We have been working together with our quizzes and bingos at Fort de Gagel for years. The vaulted cellar has great AV so that the events come into their own. Switching with Laura is also very nice!

A great location on the edge of Utrecht. The dishes were varied and nicely presented on the plates. I thought the smoked mackerel (open sandwich) was a bit on the cold side. Barely finished, the plates were taken away while I indicated that she could wait a little longer. When I asked for the bill, the employee with an ATM came without the bill. She then mentioned out loud what we had used including the total amount, which could be heard by our guests (not okay!).

Leuke locatie om naar toe te gaan. Er is voldoende gratis parkeergelegenheid (kan moment afhankelijk zijn uiteraard). De inrichting van het restaurant is sfeervol ingericht en heeft geen vervelende akoestiek om een gesprek te voeren. De lunch was heerlijk en de bediening was keurig en prettig in het contact. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

Het eten was heerlijk in een ongedwongen omgeving met vriendelijke mensen in de bediening. Zeker aan te raden. Ook voor de lunch kun je hier goed terecht.

Wat een prachtige plek! Wij zijn hier nu meerdere keren geweest en de ervaring is altijd super! Vriendelijk en professioneel personeel, smaakvol eten en de elderflower cocktail en Gagel Weizen zijn zeker aanraders! Wij komen terug!

Nice location! Especially if you come from further away, it is good to travel. We made a reservation around half past four for a drink and a bite to eat. Around 5, without saying anything, a sign was placed that our table was reserved for 6 p.m.... a bit strange of course. Then you know you're back in the city of Utrecht haha! And when we made the reservation, it was specifically stated that there was a stroller available, and we were put at bar stools... not convenient either...

Where you used to have dinner with a plate of nachos, portions have now been halved. The place is nice (fort converted into restaurant/activities place), food tasty, staff friendly. However, it is a pity that it is becoming more and more expensive (logical, but it is really skyrocketing) and the portions are becoming smaller. Mainly affluent crowd. Nevertheless, a nice place to have a drink after a walk with the dog in the off-leash area behind it or with the family or a large group (it is easily accessible). A special building with a special atmosphere. In my opinion, the architecture of the steel and glass on the old fort is tasteful and interesting. This restaurant also has a cozy terrace and good facilities for children. The menu may be a dime a dozen with the Italian and oriental influences you see everywhere, but the quality of the dishes is good. The price is also excellent. The staff was friendly, sharp and decisive, very nice. What is a disadvantage of this building is the acoustics when it is busy. Somehow the sound of people talking is amplified to such an extent that you can hardly hear each other.

We had the Shared Food concept with a group of 19 people, the food was great quality and the potions where more than enough. Great vibe and very nice few in the old Fort and bunker. Great event, I would recommend this place for everyone. (Also very nice that the dog we brought was very welcome)

Casual atmosphere, delicious food, friendly service, in short, highly recommended for a meal with loved ones in a unique location. Everything is top notch, the food is good and the price-quality ratio is good. We have now had dinner with family twice on Christmas Eve. It's wonderful to be pampered and not have to cook (or do the dishes!) yourself. The kids even got to roast marshmallows. What a party! We will definitely come back here more often. A family brunch in this establishment was undoubtedly a success. Upon arrival there was coffee/tea/soft drinks and cake and we sat a little apart from the rest of the people in the shop. That, with the friendly service as the perfect 'lubricant', created the right atmosphere for a nice meeting after a long time. After some time we were allowed to go to a floor higher where the tables were set for brunch. Again, all the drinks that were desired and then planks with delicious bread (including tuna, cheese, meat, but fully dressed with vegetables, tasty things and such), followed by a mini-yet-very-delicious soup and bread with croquettes. Ideal for such a family party. We had to drive 2 hours for it, so we booked a hotel in the center of Utrecht and after that nice brunch we had a nice afternoon and evening there 😃

The three-course shared lunch was a true taste experience and was taken care of down to the last detail. Was here due to. a 40th birthday with a group of 20 people (including children) for both drinks and dinner for 3 hours. It was fantastically arranged, first a joint reception with drinks and then on to dinner. The setup can be discussed and there is even a craft corner for children. There is plenty of room to bring your own game/coloring page and the children can help serve the dessert, for example. The diversity of wine meant that there was something for everyone in the group. This also applies to the 3-course shared dining, which is neatly served and consists of sufficient portions. Moreover, the drinks can be purchased and the invoice was received a few days later, so that you receive maximum relief on the evening itself. The decoration in the Fort gives the whole thing that extra unique touch, in short, we had a great evening.

It was a really great place. Lots of light, little bother from others. The food looked delicious, but wasn't as tasty as I expected. Had a Gagelburger. The fries were delicious, the burger looked just as delicious but wasn't necessarily very tasty. That's a shame because a burger with really tasty meat and cheese is worth its weight in gold. What also struck me is that I asked for spa blue. Then the lady brought me a glass of water. I asked, is this spa blue? From a bottle? Because then I would like the bottle. I wanted to use spa blue for my baby's milk. She said she could pour it into the milk bottle, that wasn't my concern. I wanted to put the water in myself so I assumed it wasn't tap water. I received a coffee jug to pour the water into the bottle, very sweet, but the front was still covered in coffee so not very useful for baby milk. And was there tap water on the receipt? I only knew this when we were already outside, when my girlfriend told me that she had paid €1.50 for tap water if she remembered correctly and I had not looked at the receipt inside otherwise I would definitely have said something about this. Because I definitely don't need or want maternity water for my baby's milk! So this was a real shame and I thought it was a downside. My friend also got her Pepsi in a bottle so I still don't understand why she wasn't just given a spa blue or whatever brand of water there is. If I wanted tap water, I would have asked for it.

Heerlijk gegeten en super vriendelijke bediening. Het is een leuke en originele plek. We hadden gereserveerd met twee baby's en de kinderstoelen stonden al klaar toen we aankwamen. Echt top! Aanrader.

Eerst aan de borrel en daarna lekker gegeten. Superleuk ook de aandacht en hondenkoekjes voor de hond. We hebben een heel gezellige avond gehad voor een redelijke prijs.
