I stumbled upon this ramen shop quite by chance. I'd never eaten ramen before and thought, why not give it a try? The place was only half full, so I got a seat right away. I found the atmosphere cozy, and the service was very friendly. I ordered the Fou Fow Udon Classic, which arrived nice and piping hot after a short wait. It was delicious!

The food was extremely bland, the textures were not it. things on the bowl were cold whilst others were hot, very unpleasant experience.

The food was really good. Good flavour and texture. The Curry was very mild but with the spicy sauce it's so nice. Just a nice little Udon place. Would come back.

Simple, inexpensive, quick, uncomplicated

Got the Fou Fow Udon. Broth had good dashi flavor, tempura shrimp could have been a little lighter and crispier. Udon wasn’t bouncy enough. Overall I still enjoyed the meal and would recommend it

My friends and I visited Fou Fow Udon in October 2025. While the service was friendly and welcoming, the restaurant appeared to fall short of acceptable hygiene standards (e.g., the appearance of a thick, slimy thread coming from the tap system). Here is our feedback on 5x Niku Udon: • The broth tasted bland and lacked depth. • The meat was tough, sinewy, and barely edible. • The noodles were undercooked – too al dente. All of this came at a steep price of €19, which offered no value for money. Don’t get us wrong – we’re not Udon connoisseurs, but we do know how to appreciate a good soup. Conclusion: Unfortunately, the soup was simply flavorless and overpriced. For the first time, despite being very hungry, we had to send back half-full bowls – a real pity.

Broth too bland, toppings too salty. Cucumber salad even saltier. Unorganized service (I prefer not to go into the details on this). I was expecting something good, given my great experiences at Fou Fow Ramen and the high prices on the Udon menu, but…. ingredients were average quality and execution of the dishes unfortunate. Perhaps it was just a bad day. I will give it another chance in the future.

We had already been to the ramen place, and when we passed by this one we had to go too. It's delicious! The richer, stronger broth is a delight with the thicker noodles.

I ordered the vegetarian curry udon dish, which also included a kind of vegan schnitzel. About 10 minutes after I finished eating, I got terrible stomach and intestinal problems. The dish also cost over 18 euros. I think that's way too much. The server was friendly, but also somewhat lackluster. It wasn't the best experience.

This was truly an awesome experience!! It was late, we were all VERY hungry & the delicious food REALLY hit the spot!!

We ordered a vegetarian curry and Sichuan udon. The curry was delicious, but the Sichuan udon was just spicy and lacking in flavor. The service was okay, but it took a long time for the dishes to arrive, which is understandable considering the place was quite busy.

I always walk past this place and it’s always packed full! I went for lunch, so there were many spots open and quick service. The ingredients are amazing, and very tasty broth. I will definitely be coming back! Everything was 10/10! I understand why there is always a line…

Delicious food and good selection of dishes!

The cutlery was dirty, the Chinese chopsticks were reusable: they were very old and looked very dirty, the food didn't taste very good and there were a lot of veins in the meat that were impossible to chew, and the price was high.

The flavor and portion were both good. The udon noodles were apparently made in-house, but unfortunately they were a bit firm, perhaps undercooked. A minute longer would have made them a bit more chewy, and the broth wasn't overly salty. The Sichuan Spicy Udon was spicy enough, but lacked the umami flavor of the shiso. Luckily, the cilantro added a touch to the flavor, making up for it.

Oh my god, this is the BEST UDON in the Netherlands ever!! Such a hidden gem in Amsterdam. Really delicious, you can taste the quality and the portions are generous too! Hard to find this type of good food 😍😍

Nice ramen place, though I can't quite count it among the absolute best in Amsterdam. The classic ramen I had was a bit too ordinary for that. I prefer spicy, creamy broths. The noodles, however, were truly delicious!

We waited one hour for our dishes to arrive. They started to clean everything around us to close down the restaurant while we were still eating.

This is a great restaurant to visit when you're tired of Western food. I wasn't expecting much from Asian food in a foreign country, but it was crowded and popular, and the food was better than I expected. The udon noodles really cleared my stomach.

The best udon noodles I've ever eaten!!

Unfortunately, I didn't find it that good. The fried tofu was just those sweet, ready-made tofu bags you put rice in when making sushi (not freshly fried tofu, which is cheap to make). The broth tasted like the broth from a bag, like the kind I sometimes make when I'm in a hurry. The wakame salad was just cucumber with some seaweed. It was a bit bland and not fresh at all. Too expensive for what you get and it took too long. It's a shame, because I'd heard good things about this place and really wanted to eat there. The staff was friendly.

A MUST VISIT FOR UDON LOVERS Fou Fow Udon is a gem for anyone who loves udon noodles. The broth is rich and full of flavour, and the noodles are freshly made and absolutely delicious. It can get busy, so you need a bit of luck to grab a seat. Inside it’s a little cramped when it’s full, but that’s part of the charm. If you’re a noodle fan, this spot is a must.

I am not a food critic, but the fou fow next door is five starts better than this toko

The veal ramen wasn't terrible, but the meat was a bit tough and the broth lacked flavor.

I was recommended this place by several people. Nevertheless, I was dissapointed. The dish I ordered was supposed to come with mizuna, but it came with salat. When I pointed this out to the waiter, he simply replied, is there a difference? I recommend that you are upfront with the customers if you run out of an ingredient, not just substitute it with a completely different one. This and the reapons by staff leaves a rather bad aftertaste.

We wanted something warm on a rainy day and Fou Fow Udon delivered! I got the rayu udon, it was delicious and the udon was soft but firm. Although it is listed as spicy on the menu, to me it wasn’t spicy at all! (Probably to cater to the local crowd) Nevertheless, the broth was very flavorful.

The dish I ordered wasn't really my thing, but the homemade udon noodles were delicious :) Still, I personally found the food a bit overpriced. However, the restaurant was cutely decorated, and the staff was friendly.

I had high hopes, but unfortunately the experience was underwhelming. We waited around 40 minutes for the food, which already set the tone. The udon had a great texture, and the atmosphere was pleasant, but that’s where the positives end. The dish lacked depth—no umami, barely any seasoning. It was just spicy from the chili oil, and the minced beef tasted plain. Overall, the flavors were bland and didn’t live up to the expectations.

Nice place with good food, just the options of seating are not so great, especially in the cold weather - the door and all inner interior is vibe of old Asian restaurant, but when wind is blowing through it’s not so pleasant. When the most of other seats are close to kitchen and bathroom where is pretty loud and stuff are working around.

I visited as soon as the evening service started and was able to enjoy a quiet meal. It is an udon specialty restaurant and I ordered the bukkake udon. It felt expensive at 18 euros, but since the bread was no longer available, I didn't have to think about other options. The taste was okay. It was located right in front of the canal, so the view was nice. The song Black Skirt came on and soothed the tired hearts of Koreans.

Staff are friendly and kind. As a fan of udon, personally both udon options are ok but not the best. I would prefer the soup to be a bit sweeter and the soy sauce to dip cold udon to be less salty

Amazing place for fresh udon. The vibe of the place is nice. The staff is also really chill. And the price to size ratio is great, i left completely full after some karage chicken with wasabi dip and a bowl of dashi broth udon.

Nice pipela with a view of the kitchen Apparently popular, it is well attended. My Udon was okay but the dashi could have been a bit stronger. But I must say that my taste is not that subtle.

Very cozy place, got seated right away even though we forgot to reserve. Food was amazing and very filling and the atmosphere was nice and cozy. Some people have trouble closing the door but that's not the owners fault, the others are just illiterate and can't read the big sign on the door

What is the hype of this place? Who would put a shrimp tempura in a broth? What’s the point of ordering a tempura then? It was already soggy when we got it. The egg wasn’t cooked properly. The broth does not have taste. Service was horrifying, the waiter does not even look at our faces.

Delicious simple comfort food made with love and attention. The restaurant is small and service is innatentive and slow, however I tend to overlook details like this when the food is made correctly. The food and beverage menu is well made, plenty of options for people with all kinds of food preferences. Had a great time dining her with a friend, will be coming back!

Unfortunately, the service was disappointing. The staff forgot our order, which we understood, but when we reminded them, they responded rudely and placed the food on our table in an unkind manner. They ignored additional requests, and there were no chopsticks provided. Overall, the customer service was lacking.

Une excellente adresse recommandée par notre hôtel. Pas de réservation possible mais nous avons peu attendu. Nous avons dégusté 2 plats ultra goûteux : Niku udon et Rayu udon. Des saveurs fines et typiques. Vraiment excellent.
