The salad is nothing special. Otherwise good

Unfortunately, a very disappointing experience at Freddy’s. The toilets were dirty and smelled strongly of urine. We reported this, but received a surprised reaction instead of a thank you for letting us know. Additionally, we found the staff particularly rude and distant. We were given the menu, and just one minute later, we were asked if we had made a choice. The food was practically “thrown” onto the table, which came across as very unprofessional. Normally, the staff is supposed to come by to ask if everything is to our liking and if we would like to order another drink. This did not happen a single time. The steak was so salty that it was practically inedible. Moreover, when we mentioned this, we were accused of having eaten almost the entire steak, even though we had barely tasted it. We found this very annoying and certainly not customer-friendly. Perhaps the staff was new or untrained, but we felt completely unwelcome and not taken seriously. Freddy’s, please train your staff better in terms of customer friendliness and service. It's a shame, because we often come here for a drink and have never had such an unfriendly experience here before.

Last Friday evening, I had dinner with four girlfriends. The cutlery looked dirty and greasy. The glass I drank from was greasy. The food was cold and too salty. The girl who served us was unfriendly. She just threw the plates of food on the table. I also thought she behaved rudely! The toilets were filthy and stank. After paying the bill, I didn't even get a thank you! Scandalous!

We sat on an empty terrace for just over half an hour and after 25 minutes walked inside and asked if people are supposed to order inside for the terrace. The girl at the bar said she was coming to take the order, but more than 5 minutes later she still hadn't arrived, so my wife and I just left. We thought that with almost an hour to go before our bus, we could still grab a nice cup of coffee, but we decided to skip it due to the absence of staff and the fact that we only had an hour and were reasonably sure the coffee wouldn't arrive on time for us to still catch the bus... The place looks nice, but that's about it...

We really enjoyed ourselves yesterday. Food a solid 10. Service a 10+ Relaxed atmosphere, staff up for a joke! The price-quality ratio is disproportionate, the food is too delicious for that price! ❤️❤️❤️

Aperol Spritz for 5 euros, still better than that 16.50 at Eindhoven Airport. Very tasty food and a nice place. Good value for money, indeed.

Bad service, wanted to pay in advance to use the toilet but wasn't even allowed inside.

This was my second visit here. My first experience was very pleasant, but unfortunately today started on a negative note. When my friend and I asked for a table for two, the older gentleman behind the bar seemed unfriendly and reluctant to seat us where we requested, despite us explaining that we were there for dinner. The interaction left us feeling unwelcome. On the positive side, the waitress was extremely friendly, and the rest of the service was very good. It’s a shame that the welcome did not reflect the quality of the service that followed. Upgrade: 3rd time now good service

We spontaneously got a table for five on the terrace. We originally just wanted to take advantage of the great offer of €5 for an Aperol Spritz and €10 for a pitcher of beer. But then we also came across the fantastic offer of €25 for a three-course meal. The quality of the food was phenomenal. The dishes were truly top-notch. The service was also incredibly friendly. We were very happy!

We just had a very disappointing lunch experience at Freddy's. My avocado mash sandwich tasted bad, like the avocado used in the mash was a bit old. There was an off-putting fermented taste to the tomatoes as well. The kitchen disagreed with my opinion, and the server did not comp the item on the bill. I think this place is only good for a spritz or a beer.

Does not allow dogs which I massively appreciate. Staff were very friendly taking us in with lots of luggage and not as smartly attired as many other clientele, and with a small child. The food and beer are excellent, and it's very reasonably priced. The 25 euro menu represents spectacular value.

Nice spot to sit near the station; lots of people walk by, so plenty to watch. The view from the terrace isn't great because you look at a construction site at the moment, but that doesn't bother you in the evening. Friendly staff and good service!

Early evening meal on a Monday so relatively quiet. World Cup game on the big screen, service and food was great. Pork belly pastrami with Fries and mayo was delicious.

What a fun place as far as the vibe goes! Interesting interior with a bit of an industrial but funky vibe. Quite unique in my opinion. We had a lovely dinner here before Museumnacht. We were mostly surprised by how fast our drinks and food came out despite the restaurant being absolutely packed, we really appreciated that especially considering we had 1 hour 30 minutes before Museumnacht started. Aside from that they’re very attentive and friendly, but importantly not pushy either. The cocktails we had and the Mexican beef birria were amazing. We’d definitely recommend that dish!

Place itself is ok, selection of comfy booths, tables with high chairs or tables with armchairs. Toilet via spiral stairs - for ladies cubicles with full size, top to bottom, mirrors - I absolutely hate this idea. I didn't ask, but hopefully they also have more accessible toilet on the ground floor. We ordered the 3 course deal - and it was hit and miss on my part (vegan). Starter (veggie gyoza) - nice and fresh; dessert - rhubarb (ginger ice cream with yazu) - delicious; main (crispy tofu with veggies) - the saddest tofu I have ever had (thin, soggy, no flavour). My husband had meat meal and it was good, all three dishes he ordered (sushi, steak and cream brulee). I'm taking two stars down for the service - we waited way too long for drinks and then again ages to make food order (restaurant was not busy, barely few tables occupied). I guess I could recommend this place for meat eaters, but not necessarily for vegans.

Awesome food ,drinks and staff. One of the few places here thst have longer operational hours so if you want lunch/ dinner post normal hours,it's should be your place. People are nice and smiling. Food is gr8 . Prices reasonable too !!@

This is one of the restaurants I’ve been treated awfully. The waiter was trying to ignore me . After I was trying to talk with the waiter in English as a foreigner. He was really rude and then giving me a Dutch menu even he knew that I only speak English. At the same time, he did something racist , because he gave me the menu and told me that this is DUTCH menu! Excuse me??

Terrible food and disrespectful manager (Milou) with the most unfriendly, despicable attitude ever experienced. On the contrary, the staff is nice and the atmosphere relaxed, in a post-industrial decor. What went wrong: we were served rotten/spoilt/old food. The guacamole, tomatoes in the salad and the beef birria were inedible, we risked food poisoning. On top, we waited more than one hour since the manager (who took the order), forgot to include kids menus. In addition, when the food finally arrived, the crispy chicken for kids was spicy, kids could not eat it. Imagine managing two little hungry kids after a long sightseeing day getting spicy food…Parents with small kids will perfectly understand. Given our exposure to food poisoning risks, we will unprecedently file a complaint to the consumer protection authorities and before Dutch bodies responsible for licencing horeca activities. As for immediate recommended, managerial activities, the manager (Milou) should be urgently replaced, she destroys the potential of a really nice place. The kitchen would be in major need of reshuffling too.

Good food reasonably priced and a wide selecton

We received a very friendly welcome for lunch and then had a delicious meal that was, by the way, very well prepared. The portions are generous, allowing the ladies in our party to share a dish with the kids, who had plenty to eat.

A lovely and cozy restaurant with friendly service and delicious food. A great menu with home-brewed beers and cocktails. I was in Leiden for work this time, so I only had a quick bite, but I'll definitely go back for a nice meal and a drink.

Good food but very bad service from someone who doesn't seem to care at all

I ordered a burata salad. The lettuce wasn't fresh; it had rotten leaves in it. Large, thick chunks of lettuce from the inside, not just one, but several, with some tomato wedges and a burata on top. The salad was a disgrace.

The food was very good and the cocktails were excellent. The service was friendly, and the restaurant is beautifully designed. If we're ever in Leiden again, we'll definitely be back.

We booked a high beer at Freddy's. After being shown to our table, the host told us we could choose a beer from the menu for each course. However, all Freddy's beers were unavailable, and another IPA wasn't available. To our surprise, the selection was limited to about five beers, which should have been more than double. When booking the high beer, they even "advertised" their own Freddy's beers, so if none were available, it was a major disappointment. Perhaps this could have been communicated beforehand by email or phone? The food was fine, but a bit monotonous. The Fuet had a very gray/odd color, so we passed on it.

I come here often, but only for meetings and drinks! Today I stopped in hungry and ordered lobster bisque, which I love. And... lo and behold, I received a huge bowl of liquid... apparently the lobster ran around it for a long time, hesitating to dive in. Then they served cold buns with frozen butter, apparently I was supposed to lure the lobster into the plate with them... such a shame. The location is great, near the train station, but I left hungry. Long live, lobster!

Stopped by Freddy yesterday just for drinks. The location is excellent—right next to Leiden Central Station, making it a very convenient spot if you’re in the area. The atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. We didn’t try the food, so I can’t comment on that, but for drinks it’s definitely a nice place to visit. Worth stopping by if you’re near the station. We had a wonderful meal at Freddy's today. They were very busy with us because, without my boyfriend and I knowing, we'd requested a surprise for each other (a heart-shaped appetizer and fireworks for dessert). We received excellent service, and the food was delicious. At the end, we were even surprised with a low bill because they were running a special where the second person ate for free! In short, we were incredibly well looked after. Highly recommended!

3-course menu; lobster soup was diluted with water. tuna main course tasted a bit bland, luckily we had fries. 3 stars are due to the vanilla mousse for dessert.

Freddy would be turning in his grave if this place were named after him. We arrived at 10:00 AM, and it was supposed to be open until noon. The last round had already been held. By God's grace, we were given a drink. Halfway through our drinks, they decided to turn off the music. Incomprehensible and unworthy of the Heineken name. The waitress was friendly, though.

A nice cozy place with craft beer, near the central train station!

The prawns were delicious but spicy. I had the steak, which had quite a bit of tendon on it, which made it not very tasty. The rest of the steak was good, though. The fries and salad were delicious.

It was a wonderful evening! We arrived at 4:30 pm... and asked for "some time to ourselves"... So, first, we enjoyed a leisurely drink and then a delicious three-course meal. There was no rush... everything at our own pace. The food was delicious, carefully prepared, and above all, wonderfully hot!!! Highly recommended for an evening of quality time!!

There aren't many options for vegetarians. I ordered the "beet steak," but it was truly inedible—tough as chewing gum and hard to swallow. I thought it would be made with beets, but it wasn't. It was supposed to come with a salad, but I had to ask for it myself. I ended up leaving the whole steak and only ate the fries and salad. When I pointed this out, I received little attention or understanding. They simply said the beets had been "aged for a long time" to achieve that texture. For me, it was simply inedible. A truly disappointing experience.

We had a delicious meal, but...I'd take the pil pil salad off the menu. "Pil pil" is what it is, right? Olive oil, garlic, parsley, and prawns??? These prawns were drowned in a cream sauce with soy beans and were very bland. I'd replace it with a carpaccio sandwich or salad.

During the relief of Leiden, we wanted to have a drink and perhaps a bite to eat here. Upon entering, we weren't greeted very warmly by the host. He looked us up and down, gave us a smart-alecky remark, and barely looked at us when he told us to sit all the way in the back. Service took a very long time, but hey, it's a busy day for everyone. The young woman who finally came to take our order was super friendly and made up for a lot. Kudos to her! The food and drinks were fine, nothing special, but certainly not bad either.

The atmosphere and service here is great, but I cannot recommend the vegetarian options. I had the Avocado entree and Aubergine Caponata main. The avocado dish is really not very inspiring with its flavours - the most prominent elements were cubed avocado without much dressing and the creme fraiche. The aubergine dish was bolder with flavours, but the aubergine cookery was not great - for example, roasting it to bring out the sweetness could have been better, but the way it was cooked the aubergine was more rubbery and watery. The prices are equal to other places in the city but for these dishes specifically I don't feel that the price matched the quality.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a very good experience: despite clear communication, something went wrong with my allergy, leaving me with a stomach ache the entire evening of my bachelorette party. We came with a large group and informed them of my allergy well in advance (capsicum allergy, so not a "standard" allergy). Because of the large group, we also had to make choices from the menu beforehand (which was fine). On the evening itself, we arrived and only then did they realize my choice wasn't possible due to my allergy; I was then given a replacement dish, but it was ALSO included. I even requested it halfway through after feeling a reaction, which wasn't well received either. We ended up getting fries. The dessert also arrived too late, so we could barely eat it (we also informed them of our plans in advance). The food was okay, not particularly exciting. The atmosphere was fine, though. But the service and the allergy made it a bad experience. Not recommended...

Excellent offer, a 3-course menu for just under €30. Excellent food, excellent service, friendly and to the point. Definitely worth repeating.

Service was smooth and friendly, but the atmosphere wasn't great. This might also have been due to the fact that there were hardly any people there. A slightly warmer decor would also have contributed to the atmosphere.

Freddy's is a real must-see in Leiden. It's a 5-minute walk from the station. Friendly staff, fast and efficient service. A lovely atmosphere and, above all, delicious food, served like a true work of art. Fantastic!

I come here often. Lunch is really great, atmosphere good, but other things a bit less. Service: As a lactose intolerant person I didn't find it so chill that my oat cappuccino was made of milk. That's because the person who takes the order was not the same one who makes it and serves it. Everything you order arrives very quickly. The service is always polite, professional and friendly. Coffee: Not expensive but also really not tasty. From the brand Illy, the same as you often find at stations such as Julias. Friends who ordered cow's milk coffee noticed that it was long-life milk. Atmosphere: Quiet music, no noise. The vibe is a bit like wannabe fancy clothing store. Jazzy hipster music. The location is spacious, many different seating options, nicely decorated. Suitable for small business meetings, and you can also hear each other well. The food is really great, coffee not special but also not expensive. Lunch: This is where Freddies excels. No greasy food, but a big slice of well-filled bread where attention has been paid. Too bad there are no whole wheat or low carb bread options instead of 'brown', and you have to pull everything apart with a big knife, but those are details. Cocktails: Limited options, and only 1 0.0% mocktail. But they are good. If you are really looking for the best cocktails you should go to restaurant Tabú. Dinner: If the beetroot is still on the menu, leave it far behind! Really not tasty. Dinner is otherwise ok. Deserts: I tried the crème brûlée and it was too big and way too sweet, because under the sugar layer the crème was also very sweet. That's not how it should be. Not tasty. On weekends at night: pay for entrance. An overcrowded wannabe club vibe for teenagers with rich dads, so better stay away.

Loved the homebrew beer and great selection of vegan dishes

I had lunch here when the place had just opened and we had to wait a very long time so I wasn't planning on having lunch here again. But last night I had dinner here with a friend and it was very cozy, the service was very nice, the atmosphere and decor very nice etc, but unfortunately I didn't enjoy the dishes I ordered (beef tataki, salmon, carrot cake). For me actually three stars but because my table companion had a nice meal (crab salad, tuna, cheese board) still four stars. I think it's fine for drinks.

I had a cappuccino and an apple pie. Both were decent. Service was quick and smooth. Overall, nice experience.

Great atmosphere, really nice industrial interior with comfortable seats. The Apple pie we had with the 6€ deal was amazing, fresh, tasty, crispy. The Avocado bread was the best there is out there. We come back regularly for the atmosphere, great location and excellent food

Casual but elegant place, friendly service, a little expensive.

My visit was disappointing on several points. First of all the prices: 6.50 to 7 euros for a simple beer is really absurd, especially considering the quality. I had ordered a homemade IPA, but that was a big disappointment, little taste, flat and not at all special. The chairs were uncomfortable, I even got backache after sitting for a while. In addition, the atmosphere was nowhere to be found: loud music that made it difficult to have a normal conversation, and the interior was cold and uninviting. Not a place I would return to anytime soon.

Semplicemente perfetto! Gli stuzzuchini fritti erano ottimi, ma il salmone è stato veramente spettacolare, anche il Crème brûlée ottimo (era simile alla ns crema catalana ma con zenzero e cannella che davano un tocco in più). Lo staff estremamente gentile e il servizio veloce. Unico "complaint" il costo dell'acqua da 75cl a ben €7.

Nice place accompanied by good service. I took the Burger Freddy's, it's not what I prefer because the meat is too different from what I like but it's a question of taste, the fries very good, excellent beer, I recommend this address. Very nice servers.

We ate here once and had drinks a few nights on our recent trip to Lieden. I really liked this bar. it's quite large and a different style to many of the places more towards the centre of Lieden which are on average much smaller and more cosy but the atmosphere in here is great. The food was not the best out there, but for the money I felt it was really good (I had a burger). The drinks are great and the service is really good. They have a microbrewery on site & I think they were serving some beers from this. I had the 'triple' from their speciality beer selection, and it was very good. Just avoid the cocktails, they aren't great, but this seems to be a thing in all of the places we visited in Lieden. They are made very, how do I put it, '1990s'. e.g The Porn Star Martini's don't come with Champagne or proper passion fruit juice.

Hip place with friendly service. We drank delicious cocktails and had the cheese/meat platter. These were generously filled and tasted good. The only thing I thought was a bit of a shame is that the toilets looked mediocre. Very dark and lots of damage. Furthermore, the restaurant looked very good!

Nice modern restaurant with quick service, we just had something small to eat there. But you can also eat á la carte.
