A nice cozy place with craft beer, near the central train station!

The prawns were delicious but spicy. I had the steak, which had quite a bit of tendon on it, which made it not very tasty. The rest of the steak was good, though. The fries and salad were delicious.

It was a wonderful evening! We arrived at 4:30 pm... and asked for "some time to ourselves"... So, first, we enjoyed a leisurely drink and then a delicious three-course meal. There was no rush... everything at our own pace. The food was delicious, carefully prepared, and above all, wonderfully hot!!! Highly recommended for an evening of quality time!!

There aren't many options for vegetarians. I ordered the "beet steak," but it was truly inedible—tough as chewing gum and hard to swallow. I thought it would be made with beets, but it wasn't. It was supposed to come with a salad, but I had to ask for it myself. I ended up leaving the whole steak and only ate the fries and salad. When I pointed this out, I received little attention or understanding. They simply said the beets had been "aged for a long time" to achieve that texture. For me, it was simply inedible. A truly disappointing experience.

We had a delicious meal, but...I'd take the pil pil salad off the menu. "Pil pil" is what it is, right? Olive oil, garlic, parsley, and prawns??? These prawns were drowned in a cream sauce with soy beans and were very bland. I'd replace it with a carpaccio sandwich or salad.

During the relief of Leiden, we wanted to have a drink and perhaps a bite to eat here. Upon entering, we weren't greeted very warmly by the host. He looked us up and down, gave us a smart-alecky remark, and barely looked at us when he told us to sit all the way in the back. Service took a very long time, but hey, it's a busy day for everyone. The young woman who finally came to take our order was super friendly and made up for a lot. Kudos to her! The food and drinks were fine, nothing special, but certainly not bad either.

The atmosphere and service here is great, but I cannot recommend the vegetarian options. I had the Avocado entree and Aubergine Caponata main. The avocado dish is really not very inspiring with its flavours - the most prominent elements were cubed avocado without much dressing and the creme fraiche. The aubergine dish was bolder with flavours, but the aubergine cookery was not great - for example, roasting it to bring out the sweetness could have been better, but the way it was cooked the aubergine was more rubbery and watery. The prices are equal to other places in the city but for these dishes specifically I don't feel that the price matched the quality.

Unfortunately, it wasn't a very good experience: despite clear communication, something went wrong with my allergy, leaving me with a stomach ache the entire evening of my bachelorette party. We came with a large group and informed them of my allergy well in advance (capsicum allergy, so not a "standard" allergy). Because of the large group, we also had to make choices from the menu beforehand (which was fine). On the evening itself, we arrived and only then did they realize my choice wasn't possible due to my allergy; I was then given a replacement dish, but it was ALSO included. I even requested it halfway through after feeling a reaction, which wasn't well received either. We ended up getting fries. The dessert also arrived too late, so we could barely eat it (we also informed them of our plans in advance). The food was okay, not particularly exciting. The atmosphere was fine, though. But the service and the allergy made it a bad experience. Not recommended...

Excellent offer, a 3-course menu for just under €30. Excellent food, excellent service, friendly and to the point. Definitely worth repeating.

Service was smooth and friendly, but the atmosphere wasn't great. This might also have been due to the fact that there were hardly any people there. A slightly warmer decor would also have contributed to the atmosphere.

Freddy's is a real must-see in Leiden. It's a 5-minute walk from the station. Friendly staff, fast and efficient service. A lovely atmosphere and, above all, delicious food, served like a true work of art. Fantastic!

I come here often. Lunch is really great, atmosphere good, but other things a bit less. Service: As a lactose intolerant person I didn't find it so chill that my oat cappuccino was made of milk. That's because the person who takes the order was not the same one who makes it and serves it. Everything you order arrives very quickly. The service is always polite, professional and friendly. Coffee: Not expensive but also really not tasty. From the brand Illy, the same as you often find at stations such as Julias. Friends who ordered cow's milk coffee noticed that it was long-life milk. Atmosphere: Quiet music, no noise. The vibe is a bit like wannabe fancy clothing store. Jazzy hipster music. The location is spacious, many different seating options, nicely decorated. Suitable for small business meetings, and you can also hear each other well. The food is really great, coffee not special but also not expensive. Lunch: This is where Freddies excels. No greasy food, but a big slice of well-filled bread where attention has been paid. Too bad there are no whole wheat or low carb bread options instead of 'brown', and you have to pull everything apart with a big knife, but those are details. Cocktails: Limited options, and only 1 0.0% mocktail. But they are good. If you are really looking for the best cocktails you should go to restaurant Tabú. Dinner: If the beetroot is still on the menu, leave it far behind! Really not tasty. Dinner is otherwise ok. Deserts: I tried the crème brûlée and it was too big and way too sweet, because under the sugar layer the crème was also very sweet. That's not how it should be. Not tasty. On weekends at night: pay for entrance. An overcrowded wannabe club vibe for teenagers with rich dads, so better stay away.

Loved the homebrew beer and great selection of vegan dishes

I had lunch here when the place had just opened and we had to wait a very long time so I wasn't planning on having lunch here again. But last night I had dinner here with a friend and it was very cozy, the service was very nice, the atmosphere and decor very nice etc, but unfortunately I didn't enjoy the dishes I ordered (beef tataki, salmon, carrot cake). For me actually three stars but because my table companion had a nice meal (crab salad, tuna, cheese board) still four stars. I think it's fine for drinks.

I had a cappuccino and an apple pie. Both were decent. Service was quick and smooth. Overall, nice experience.

Great atmosphere, really nice industrial interior with comfortable seats. The Apple pie we had with the 6€ deal was amazing, fresh, tasty, crispy. The Avocado bread was the best there is out there. We come back regularly for the atmosphere, great location and excellent food

Good food, modern interior only the service was a bit less. Just a bit angular and not very talkative. Still a good restaurant!

Casual but elegant place, friendly service, a little expensive.

My visit was disappointing on several points. First of all the prices: 6.50 to 7 euros for a simple beer is really absurd, especially considering the quality. I had ordered a homemade IPA, but that was a big disappointment, little taste, flat and not at all special. The chairs were uncomfortable, I even got backache after sitting for a while. In addition, the atmosphere was nowhere to be found: loud music that made it difficult to have a normal conversation, and the interior was cold and uninviting. Not a place I would return to anytime soon.

Semplicemente perfetto! Gli stuzzuchini fritti erano ottimi, ma il salmone è stato veramente spettacolare, anche il Crème brûlée ottimo (era simile alla ns crema catalana ma con zenzero e cannella che davano un tocco in più). Lo staff estremamente gentile e il servizio veloce. Unico "complaint" il costo dell'acqua da 75cl a ben €7.

Nice place accompanied by good service. I took the Burger Freddy's, it's not what I prefer because the meat is too different from what I like but it's a question of taste, the fries very good, excellent beer, I recommend this address. Very nice servers.

We ate here once and had drinks a few nights on our recent trip to Lieden. I really liked this bar. it's quite large and a different style to many of the places more towards the centre of Lieden which are on average much smaller and more cosy but the atmosphere in here is great. The food was not the best out there, but for the money I felt it was really good (I had a burger). The drinks are great and the service is really good. They have a microbrewery on site & I think they were serving some beers from this. I had the 'triple' from their speciality beer selection, and it was very good. Just avoid the cocktails, they aren't great, but this seems to be a thing in all of the places we visited in Lieden. They are made very, how do I put it, '1990s'. e.g The Porn Star Martini's don't come with Champagne or proper passion fruit juice.

Hip place with friendly service. We drank delicious cocktails and had the cheese/meat platter. These were generously filled and tasted good. The only thing I thought was a bit of a shame is that the toilets looked mediocre. Very dark and lots of damage. Furthermore, the restaurant looked very good!

Verschrikkelijke tent. Heel onvriendelijk en ongeïnteresseerd personeel die niet denkt in oplossingen. Drankjes niet juist geserveerd terwijl het wel op de kaart staat. Geen aanrader. 3x om hetzelfde drankje moeten vragen en niet gekregen.

We went for drinks after work and the manager of the place started drilling next to our table. When we complained he didn’t offer not even an apology. Unacceptable service. There are better options in Leiden.

A nice place to have a drink with friends or colleagues. The place looks nice and the employees are friendly. I was having drinks with a group of +- 15 people. It was noticeable that something regularly went wrong with the drinks ordered. In addition, the burger I had, for example, was completely done. For the price and location you expect a little more.

It was a great evening. Even without a reservation, I was able to get a table spontaneously (but that was more of a happy coincidence). The ambience is really great. The service is very courteous and super nice. The dishes are also suitable for vegetarians.

There is nothing wrong with this place, but they charge “good restaurant prices” for OK food. They also happily lie about the availability of drinks if they don’t wish to serve you something.

I had dinner alone in this restaurant when I had limited time between trains. The service was friendly and fast. The food however, was unexpectedly bad and didn’t match with what’s on the menu. I ordered salmon and the listed ingredients on the menu were: soy, ginger, radish, red onion, sugar snaps, spring onion, and pepper. So you can imagine my shock as I was served salmon on top of seaweed water. The spoon was also brought in the last minute - so I had no idea I would be getting anything watery until the last minute. Since I can’t stand the smell and taste of seaweed, I tried to rescue the salmon as much as possible from the water to eat, and ordered bread. Fries and bread were good though! — I came here again between trains for a drink and it was pretty good! Also, service was friendly and fast again, and this time I also noticed how nice the atmosphere is. Will be back.

Heerlijk gegeten, vond het ook niet echt duur voor wat je krijgt. Aardig personeel en het ziet er van binnen ook leuk uit. Knolselderijsoep was heerlijk en de steak tartaar ook.

We walked in and it was pleasantly busy. We quickly got a table for the two of us. The ordered drinks arrived quickly, as did our order. Both the main course and dessert arrived quickly, the service was polite and polite and it all tasted delicious. Highly recommended. Unfortunately we live in the north.

Easy access for lunch from train station. Staff was friendly but took some time to get food. We were in no rush, but may be an issue if on a tight schedule. Food and drinks were good.

We were looking for a place that serves cocktails in Leiden. I’d highly recommend this place. Professional staff, fair prices, delicious cocktails. We didn’t have dinner, but the food served looked delicious.

We had lunch here. I had a mushroom sandwich here. Bun was so hard I could barely get my knife through it. Little filling, no butter. Mushrooms were quite tough and had little taste and not enough to fill the sandwich properly, which also made me miss butter. My husband ate bread with croquettes and liked this, but here too it was no more than 2 slices of bread and 2 croquettes, with butter here by the way. However, here too, no decoration in the form of sauce, salad or the like. Still, we came back here in the evening for coffee and a drink, because the atmosphere here is very cozy and the staff is very friendly.

Poorly lit, noisy place, with lousy value for money. They appear hip and fancy, but the chicken was dry, the portions small and tasteless. I sat next to the kitchen and could not hear myself think or my companions talk. If you ask top price for mediocre quality because of the location, at least make sure it is enough.

Had dinner at Freddy's on Sunday evening. The restaurant area is attractive and cozy, I personally find the bar area a little less attractive for dinner. The food was better than expected! Although I didn't really know what to expect, let me say that it was above average. As a starter I had the tuna tartare. Beautifully served and good in taste. The main course, the salmon, was very good. The combination of flavors, salmon with a sweet layer on top and a somewhat spicy soup/bullion (if I may call it that) with vegetables was excellently chosen! For dessert I opted for the cheese board with a port on the side, delicious! The service was pleasant and fun. I will definitely come back here!

This is our favorite place in Leiden to dine and we go here regularly. The food is great, there is plenty to choose from and the portions are perfect. Deserts are fabulous. Staff is also very friendly.

The beer was flat. The food was ok, but not great.

Gelukkig betaalden we via een zomerdeal 25 euro voor 3 gangen, de normale prijs van 37,50 is het namelijk niet waard. Helaas voor ons dan ook een eenmalig bezoek, terwijl we anders hoopten. Vooraf waren de Boneless Ribs een hele goede keuze, en ook het beste gerecht van de avond. Mijn bavette kwam erg rare terwijl medium gevraagd en kon dus terug (tijdens deze avond zagen we meerdere gerechten terug richting keuken gaan). Mijn partner had de Entrecote gevraagd rare, maar die kwam bijna richting doorbakken. Dessert tartelette was erg droog, cheesecake was wel ok. Kortom voor het geld dat we betaalden was het ok, maar ook niet meer dan dat. Zonde!

Food was tasty, drinks also fine; good prices for what you get. Not the most inspiring location in Leiden, right on a busy road, but beautifully decorated on the inside. A major lack of air conditioning or ventilation. We were there on a hot day and it was unbearable inside. Service was friendly but not very efficient even though we had booked in advance and told us what we wanted to eat. Also plenty of options for diets. Fortunately, fun knows no time :)

Freddy's was a surprise during our repeated visit to the beautiful city. Friendly, dedicated service, great cuisine: everything was just right. The summer specials were deliciously prepared. Koffie met appeltaart was also worth the money. Especially since the proximity to the city center and the train station means short distances. We'd love to come back.

The “Freddy's burger” was unfortunately very disappointing. No seasoning used on the burger, was very bland. Desert was very tasty (cream brûlée and the cheese cake)

We had a 3 course meal (summer special) and all the food was amazing and the service was exceptional. I had a burrata and steak bavette and then the chocolate mousse as dessert. Really cant complain about them, recommended.

Enjoyed a delicious High Beer with tasty snacks. High Beer is a bit more typical for men, so the snacks were a bit small. But what was more striking was how empty the place is on Saturday afternoon. Their own home-brewed beer is excellent, the service is great (with a chat if you want) and everything looks neat and clean. This certainly deserves more audience. It is not a 'tent' sent from the Heineken factory.

Tonight the 2 of us had dinner for the summer promotion price of €25.00 for a 3 course menu. Free choice of dishes from the menu, with the exception of a few dishes for which a small surcharge is charged. Delicious dishes so really worth the money. Friendly and smooth service. The only downside was that the red wine was too warm for our taste. Serving temperature should be a maximum of 18 degrees. Will definitely come back again.

Excellent! Rly nice menu, with some non-standard options. The service was good, the food was outstanding!

Maar 1 vegetarisch gerecht op het hoofdmenu, en dan is het ook nog is Prei van de BBQ. Ook maar 2 vega voorgerechten, waarvan 1 gefrituurde feta, de andere buratta, en 1 vegan gerecht (dimsum). Wat ontzettend inspiratieloos. En ontzettend teleurstellend in 2024. En dit was net een nieuw menu, want er stond nog heel groot “summer special” op ook.

When your entire main dinner menu has 1 vegetarian dish that’s a leek from a barbecue, then you should really be ashamed of yourself. Yes, there were vegetarian starters (3), but come on guys. Also no symbols on the menus to make it easier to spot vegan or vegetarian dishes. Or even any allergy related symbols.

Good coffee promo of 2 euros before 4 PM. I was only passing by and needed a coffee but it looks like a great place to work remotely or have a nice lunch, dinner or beer at the bar.

Recently ate here with work. The atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy and the staff is super friendly, well trained and helpful. So a big enough pass. However, the kitchen is barely 6 and ready for another chef. The plates were unimaginative, the bavette looked like a piece of leather and could not be cut through even with a steak knife. The gravy was watery and clearly came from a carton. The staff did not bother me when I asked if I could get something else. The chicken I got next was ok.

Super tasty food with good service. Not booking a few tables full on a Friday and then joining without a reservation is somewhat unique.

We enjoyed the summer 3 course meal for 25 Euro! The cheesecake was the winner of the 3 courses. Yummm. It was creamy and perfectly sweetened. The chicken was good but over salted and the sauce was tangy and acidic. Not my favorite.
