My best Amsterdam café. Their coffee is very awesome :) Even after years from my very first visit, here is my truly best coffee place in Amsterdam, probably in the entire Netherlands.

I can’t talk enough about how good this coffee shop is, it has such a cool, relaxed vibe. The coffee is by far the best I have tasted: smooth, rich, and clearly made with care. And the staff is very friendly! Our trip to the netherlands is never complete without coming here!

Extraordinary ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Literally one of the reasons we took a trip to Amsterdam, and we weren't disappointed. The coffee was incredible, and the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. My favourite coffee shop that I've visited in the world so far!!

This place is just COOL! Period. From the edgy packaging to the way the coffees are presented, down to the laid-back vibe: Fuku doesn't just serve coffee, it sets the mood! The lineup? Massive! We're talking 20+ coffees on offer, plus a “Super Specials” section with competition-grade beans and funky experiments that will blow your mind. Feeling lost? Don't stress, the baristas know their stuff and will steer you right. I went for the Peru Dreyde Delgado as a filter: delicate, intense, and absolutely memorable. And hey, don't skip the pastries! The croissant is legit, and the yogurt with granola hits the spot too. Prices? Totally fair for the quality and the vibe. Coffee nerds, casual sippers, or just anyone looking for a cool hangout: this is your spot! Everything here is COOL, in the true sense of the word! From the packaging to the presentation of the coffees, to the atmosphere itself: come and see for yourself. Unlike many other specialty coffee bars, the selection here is vast: at least 20 different coffees to choose from, with a section dedicated to "Super Specials." But don't worry: the baristas are knowledgeable and ready to guide you in making the best choice. I tried the Dreyde Delgado Peru filter: surprising, delicate yet intense. Also noteworthy are the croissants and granola yogurt, truly well-made. Prices are absolutely in line with the quality. For coffee lovers, it's simply a must-visit!

Ordered iced filter coffee, very bright and you can feel the fruity flavor, but inside it’s too hot.

It's been a few months since I've been but I keep getting reminded of how good the cappuccino was here whenever I drink a coffee, to my disappointment. It's a Flowers for Algernon situation but for coffee.

My visit to Friedhats FUKU Cafe was a mix of highs and a single low. The coffee itself was outstanding. My iced latte had a lovely, subtle floral note that was perfectly balanced, not at all overpowering. My friend's iced filter coffee was equally impressive, with a delicate, vinous flavor profile that was truly unique and enjoyable. Both coffees were a testament to the quality of their beans and the skill of the baristas. ​The only drawback was the wait time. We had to wait over 20 minutes for our coffees, which felt quite long. While I understand that great coffee can't be rushed, it's something to be aware of if you're in a hurry. ​Overall, I highly recommend Friedhats FUKU Cafe for anyone who appreciates a meticulously crafted cup of coffee and has the time to spare. The flavors are worth the wait!

Good quality coffee, although pricey, and they charge an additional fee for you taking your order away. I am giving it three stars because I have noticed baristas systematically having a 'sip' of my coffee (this happened three times, and once, two different baristas each took a sip). The slurping sound they make when having a sip with their teaspoon is absolutely disgusting. And why?... They do not know how the coffee they sell taste like? Or they do not know how to make coffee, needing to taste every single cup?

While visiting Amsterdam from NYC in November 2024, my husband and I made it a priority to stop by this café he’s a big fan of their coffee roaster, so we couldn’t miss the chance to experience it in person. I ordered a cappuccino, and to this day, it’s still the creamiest, most memorable one I’ve ever had. Perfectly balanced, smooth, and rich without being overpowering. I would love to visit Amsterdam again for this café.

We order flat white , cappuccino and croissant. The croissant is so good, so crispy. Flat white coffee bean is different to cappuccino. Both are good.

If I lived in Amsterdam, I would go there every day. The smell, the vibes, and everything about this place are amazing. I ordered a flat white and it came out perfect. I really like their coffee packaging. It’s unique, and you can’t resist buying from them.

Slowest service on earth, 30mins for a coffee

This was my second visit to FUKU, and once again, it lived up to its name and reputation. It’s no surprise this spot ranks among the best specialty coffee places in the world. Their coffee selection is diverse, thoughtful, and expertly brewed — a true celebration of quality beans. Even the croissant is exceptional — flaky, buttery, and fresh. If you’re someone who wants a cup that never disappoints, FUKU should absolutely be on your list. Top-tier service, clean setup, and consistent quality.

This place was recommended to me by the barista of a friendly cafe. The flat white was great and they offer two types of beans to choose from. This cafe is let down by the overall cleanliness of its crockeries. There was a pile of water glasses next to the drinking water tap which presumably were clean, but didn’t appear to be.

Exceptional quality. Espresso, tea, pastry, it is all wonderful and expertly prepared. Cozy cafe to sit down, and you can buy beans to make your own espresso at home. This place set the bar, and it is high! My partner claims it is the best espresso in the Netherlands!

The coffee they serve is excellent, quite nice to choose any beans you prefer. I had a Cortado, beans from their main hopper and a croissant which was a lovely pair. Quite busy in the morning when I arrived but still quick.

Serves a very delicious cup of coffee at a reasonable price. It was hard to get a seat, and the place was crowded when I visited on a rainy morning. I picked up a couple of bottles of beans to bring home—this was a recommended stop by a friend, and it never disappoints.

It's okay, I've been to 1000's of cafes all over the world and I'll give this a Genuine review instead of all the hype influencers. The main issue I had is that they use the wrong oatmilk, this doesn't go well at all with the coffee. Besides that the quality was good. Nothing special though so don't get the hype really 🤷🏼‍♂️ Also 100s of options but no dark roast ?😆

Service 1/5 Coffee 2/5 We ordered a filter coffee and the personal behind the bar complained: “I have to make filter coffee the whole day I’m so done with this”, maybe this field of work isn’t something for you then, advice to fuku, have a talk with your personal of last Saturday. It didn’t make us feel welcome and appreciated to order your coffee, love your beans we brew with it weekly.

The second time being here the comments is just like the first time. “The coffee is overrated”, i ordered a filter coffee gesha clouds, the bean is okay but not worth or 10 euro a cup. “No laptop policy”, they should put this sign near the window before people start ordering :) To add, i found there are one two people using laptops and they didn’t warn them but only to me… don’t know what’s happening here

They're quite famous. We tried their coffee when we were nearby the area and we purchased beans to try. Their coffee is good & beans are high quality as well. They're not the best but most probably on top 10 in NL.

Simply the best filter coffee I have ever had. Come here, buy some pots, follow their instructions - give the coffee some time in the hot water (mineral, they'll tell you) as if you were giving the ground beans an onsen bath. And, enjoy. The favorites for home are the Rwanda and Guatemala - my personal preference - Anaerobic. Good work guys. ❤️

Such a nice place! It feels like sitting in an Australian surfbar where all the surfers are baristi, too. Your Rwanda Gasharu Intego Espresso is the best coffee I have ever tasted. Please keep it in your portfolio forever! I will come to Amsterdam on a regular basis to pick up my stash. I am wildly amazed. Thank you so much!

One for the real coffee lovers out there. Plenty of flavours to choose from and all of the staff members are true magicians into making the best coffee. Gets quite busy and it's not too big, so we took our coffees on a walk in the neighbourhood - can't get a better Sunday than that.

What a nice place! I was invited here and I was immediately struck by the atmosphere — a mix of rock, blues, country, gospel and folk. It felt warm, creative and a bit rebellious, exactly what suits me. What was also immediately noticeable were the coffee notes from all corners of the world. You notice that there is real passion behind this. What really surprised me were the wrapped coffee beans that were just lying in the refrigerator. Never seen it before, but apparently you can order it under the Super Specials option — that name alone makes you curious. My cappuccino was great, super smooth and full of flavor. But what completed the experience was the short but nice conversation with Borris. Great guy, and when I heard that he participates in coffee competitions, I thought: yes, you can taste that. Coffee is not just made here, coffee is lived here. In short: nice atmosphere, nice coffee choices and people who take their profession seriously, but don't take it too seriously. Recommended.

Tried coffee at about a dozen places in Amsterdam and this was the best by far. So good I went back. No trip to Amsterdam would be complete without coming here. We bought beans to take home.

A legendary speciality coffee shop well deserving of it's title as one of the best. All the baristas are friendly and informed about their work. A must visit for any coffee enthusiasts.

I ordered and ate Rwanda Intego with iced Aeropress and was very satisfied. Arrange coffee beans in a medicine container It was packaged and sold, and the cup design was very cute. I guess it's popular among locals, and I've seen these coffee containers all over Amsterdam. I think I'll have coffee here tomorrow too.

One of my favorite cafes in Amsterdam. The coffee quality is very good, you can choose different types of coffee. You can also buy coffee beans. They serve some food, mostly pastries and cakes. The place is not very big. I usually like to order a coffee and go for a walk when it's very sunny ☀️

I came here because of its reputation. The coffee is really great and the packaging is very novel. However, the whole store is not so comfortable. I personally feel that it is not suitable for sitting for a long time. The location is not very central.

Great in house experience. On a busy saturday they still served us a great pourover in an impressive timeframe. I have to take a point for some of their roasts tho, gotta say despite their flashy and good looking bottled coffees, some are underwhelming.

Not bad of spot just not very comfy for my liking. I did enjoy the coffee and the pain au chocolat.

I had this place on my list for about 3 years and finally got to visit when I went to Amsterdam. It was worth the 5k walk from my hotel for it!n When presented with a menu of coffees to choose from you know you're at a true artisan coffee house. I went for the Ethiopian which was a long fermented bean, boozy and funky flavours. If you love specialty coffee, this place is a must. If your idea of good coffee is Starbucks and Costa, then go here and elevate your taste and you'll understand what the real thing is!

I’m giving this review because I’m disappointed by the experience. I asked specifically the barista an espresso that is balanced: nothing acetic and not too bitter. I followed his recommendation and got served a pure lemon juice. The acidity was so overpowering, it hid any other notes. That was only what you could taste. For some pricey 4€, in a popular area, for an espresso. Such experience for me is a text book example of the gentrification process happening in Sloterdijk.

Was very excited to check this place out, however drinks were very mediocre. There are several cafes offering better drinks and pastries in my opinion

I’m a coffee roaster who has sampled many of the best coffee spots in Tokyo, NYC, Philadelphia, San Francisco, London, Stockholm, Prague, and several other major cities. Friedhats is absolutely amongst my favorites. This cafe refuses to romanticize our favorite drink with elaborate tasting cards and wax poetics. Here, they let the coffee speak for itself, and their coffee definitely makes a statement! At the time of this review they have +15 coffees from around the world, featuring a good mix of processing methods to choose from. I cannot recommend highly enough!

Really good customer service. I casually mentioned how I had a sub par coffee on my last visit and they were genuinely interested in knowing what went wrong and making it right.

Avoid going here if you would like to use the time to do some remote working while actively enjoying 1 or 2 cups of coffee. Staff members do not know how to speak to their customers when conveying the message a no laptop policy is applicable.

As someone making my own coffee for many years (and way too deep in the rabbit hole), I can say that the impossible happened at fuku. Someone else made me coffee that I thought was delicious. There are maybe a dozen cafes in Europe that could do this and fuku is one of them.

I’ve given this place the benefit of the doubt a couple of times and have concluded that while the coffee is good, the service is poor and they are sooo slow. Seems to be commonplace to be ignored upon arrival. I understand they are busy but to be standing there for a good few mins without so much as a smile or acknowledgment is just not ok. This happened today when there were 3 people behind the counter. Not sure if it’s pretentiousness or just a lack of care but it just creates an unwelcoming atmosphere. On top, they ask for a tip for a takeaway coffee.. I’ve found the service neither fast nor friendly on any of my visits, it certainly does not warrant close to a tip!

Washed Ethiopia espresso is a must! Awesome place with good coffee quality

I have been buying coffee beans here for years now. However the quality of the coffee beans compared to the price has gone significantly down. I went there a couple of days ago and spent 14 euro on 250g of coffee that even the person there was saying: yeah it's like a classic coffee. Tried it at home, and it had nothing special about it, probably it would be half the price in another place. They do have great coffee beans, but now they cost 40 euro for 250g! The same coffee beans used to be 20 euro a year ago.. Doubling the prices with an excuse of inflation is just unaceptable and just profitting from their notoriety. I will personally start looking in other places and hope to find more reasonable people. Also, as a side note, they provide the beans in heavy plastic bottles, which I am personally trying to bring back every time, however many people are not as there is no incentive from them to bring that bottle back. Why not just use paper..

Genuinely fantastic coffee and lovely staff. Very hip Bolo comes here for coffee. But as an unhip person like me, I also feel welcome 😉
