€70 per person for the privilege of being wedged into a sardine tin, eating dreadful food, and receiving non-existent service. Hard to call it dinner — more of an endurance test, really. I had a 7 pm reservation and arrived precisely on time. I was seated on the first floor which, judging by the layout, seemed more like a game of human Tetris than a restaurant. There were diners to my left, right, and behind — close enough to borrow their cutlery if I’d fancied a different dish. Attempting to stand up to go to the loo felt like planning a minor military operation. As for the food: utterly forgettable. I’ve had far better Chinese meals in random small towns across Europe. I ordered the Tofu Beef, which turned out to be thick slabs of meat masquerading as steak, swimming helplessly in a gloopy, overpowering sauce that smelled rather questionable. Service? I wouldn’t know — I never actually experienced any. The waiters managed to check in with every table around me, switching charmingly between English and Dutch, yet somehow skipped me and the other Asian-looking table entirely. Perhaps being Asian in an Asian restaurant is an offence now? When asking for the bill, I politely mentioned that the dish was quite unpleasant. The waiter looked at me with the enthusiasm of a tax auditor, offered no apology, no explanation — not even the traditional “we’ll do better next time.” If you’re looking for a good meal, avoid this place. If you’re hoping to experience Chinese culture, avoid it twice.

Great atmosphere! Food is authentic :)

The restaurant’s menu explicitly said water is refilled for free if you order a drink, and that’s what we asked for when we added a beverage to the order. The bill comes back with a charge for hot water, when we explicitly asked for a free water refill for the beverage. The hot water costs €2.5 so it’s a small amount since we spent over €80 on ordering food, but this additional charge for hot water and refused to take it off the bill (staff repeatedly says since we have 2 people and only one ordered drink) makes me feel I was forced to pay for something I didn’t order and the restaurant being really cheap and just push its own mistake onto its customer.

The portion is huge and the spicy fish is delicious😋

Located on the main street in downtown Amsterdam, this restaurant specializes in Sichuan cuisine, boasting two or three floors with a pleasant atmosphere and excellent service. Garlic White Pork: The presentation is beautiful, with the pork belly sliced ​​to the perfect thickness, topped with cucumber. The spicy dipping sauce is flavorful and garnished with cilantro. Delicious! 😋 Spice Chicken: The chicken is stir-fried until crispy and fragrant, sprinkled with green onions, and the chili aroma is palatable upon chewing. Boiled Beef: The beef is thickly cut into chunks and boiled in chili water. The spiciness is just right, and you can actually feel the numbing Sichuan peppercorns. It's a pleasant surprise to be able to enjoy such authentic Sichuan cuisine abroad. The flavor is every bit as good as in Sichuan, and it's truly authentic and delicious. The only downside is the price! The per capita price is about five times higher than in China. 😛

Delicious and generous portions

A real taste of Sichuan, I'm a regular for 10 years, consistent kitchen performance. Most people probably don't mention it, but it matters that their facilities are always very clean and well maintained. For example, the toilets are always very clean, there is always soap and paper, and the smell is always fresh. Also the entire restaurant has never had bad smells like mold, which is difficult to achieve especially during winters in the Netherlands. It's not only the dishes and services, but also their attention to details, and staying true to their words. In my opinion they are the best Chinese restaurant in this country. Additional review after 4 years: I'm still a regular, and their dishes are still tasty! And the facility is still clean.

I was here with a friend. We both got food poisoning, I was throwing up, and him the other way. Probably a coincidence, right? Food and beer was definitivelys on the pricier side. Food came fast.

You can’t imagine how many times I’ve been to Fulu! It’s honestly one of my go to spots, and I’ve tried most of the menu by now. My absolute favorite appetizer , without a doubt is the cold boiled sliced pork belly with garlic sauce. I can’t even sit at a table there without starting with it! I always ask for extra smashed garlic on the side, because that little kick just makes it perfect. One thing I really like about Fulu is how presentable the dishes are. Some of them even come with dry ice and a smoke effect, which makes the whole experience feel a bit extra in a fun way. Portions are huge, and prices are fair considering what you get. The steamed fish is outstanding, and honestly most of their seafood dishes never disappoint. It’s the kind of place where you can try something different every time and still walk out satisfied. Service-wise, the staff are friendly, but because the restaurant is usually packed, they sometimes seem a little distracted. It’s understandable though, and overall the service is more than okay. But when the place is packed , you feel you are eating with the other guests on the same table, and the noise is high specially when there is big groups on big tables! And that affect the atmosphere a lot.. and just as an advice for the managers, please be sure that the wooden corners next to the tables are wiped frequently, since in most of my visits it was really dusty, and i even showed it to the supervisors several times ! For me, Fulu isn’t just a restaurant !! it’s my spot for celebrations. Most of my special occasions have been spent here, and that says a lot 🥰 I’ve added some of the photos I took during my 92737292 visits, so you guys can get a better idea and maybe it helps you choose more easily from their biiig menu, hahaha!

Stumbled upon this restaurant while searching for good Chinese restaurant. Taste is definitely authentic. Looking at the crowds and long queue, this is definitely the place to go if you are looking for real Chinese food.

Just great food! Great presentation and great food. Once again: great food. When walking around in city centre, there are soooo many restaurants that are not worth its price at all, but FuLu definetly deserves your visit!

FuLu Mandarijn is hands down one of the best spots in Amsterdam for authentic Sichuan flavors. The Dry-fried chicken leg fillet with dry red chili peppers was perfectly crispy, spicy, and addictive. The sautéed spicy sliced lamb burritos were equally outstanding—flavorful, tender, and packed with heat. Great food, lively atmosphere, and friendly service make it a must-visit!

Nice place and delicious food, the dishes are very generous, just take a main dish to share between two with a portion of rice, we spent 75 euros for a dish of beef and tofu in spicy sauce (if you like spicy it's perfect, otherwise ask for the spicy to be reduced), two portions of rice, dumplings, two Chinese beers and a dessert (the only thing the dessert wasn't very good) Fair quality price.

The food is delicious and the service is good. At the beginning, we ordered too many dishes and the boss told us that we ordered too much. We can order and eat slowly. It is very good. The meals are very large and suitable for many people to share. It is recommended to make large and small portions.

Fulu is hands down one of the best Chinese restaurants in Amsterdam! The Sichuan dishes are authentic, flavorful, and perfectly balanced with just the right amount of spice. Don't let the individual menu prices put you off - portions are designed for sharing and excellent value. The eggplant and sweet tofu easily fed four of us with two bowls of fried rice. The eggplant was beautifully soft and silky. We wanted to try the coconut rabbit pudding but it was sold out, so settled for spicy ice cream instead. This isn't a place for solo dining - come with a group and order family-style for the best experience and value.

The food was served incredibly quickly in Europe (those who understand will understand). It was greasy, and the ingredients weren't great. We barely touched any of the dishes, and my friend immediately ran to the restroom after finishing. I think it's definitely a pre-prepared restaurant. They don't accept credit cards or UnionPay, so I had to go across the street to withdraw cash.

Terrible. Disaster. Extremely salty chicken, we didn’t touch that dish after tasting it. Telling this to the waiter, and just got a nod saying that, yes that dish is salty. What about warning us like you warned us that it’s very spicy? If you’re chinese, that may be obvious to you, but it certainly is not for us. We payed (in full) and left as soon as we can. Spoiled our evening. Never ever again!

We coincidentally walked by one evening while looking for a dinner place. There was a short line but wait times were averaging 20 mins as we didn’t have a reservation. It was definitely worth the wait. But I recommend going there in bigger groups. The dishes are generous and with more people you can try more things. Everything was tasty and displayed superbly.

A word of warning to regulars at the many Chinese restaurants in France: you'll find dishes here you've never had before. It's an explosion of flavors. We had two beef dishes; the meat was tender, the preparation delicious, and the presentation beautiful. If you eat there in the evening, plan to skip lunch and walk all afternoon to finish your dishes because not only is it delicious, but it's also really filling. 10/10 ❤️ Book on their website to be sure of getting a table.

Highly recommended! This place is renowned for its authentic Chinese flavors, and I came here specifically for its reputation. Besides Sichuan cuisine, the Cantonese dishes are also excellent, perfect for those who don't like spicy food. The generous portions are also very filling, and the value for money is great!

I came here because of its reputation and ordered the taro stewed oxtail. The meat was soft and glutinous, the soup was rich, and it was super delicious with rice.

The chili oil of garlic white meat is very fragrant, and the spicy chicken is also very authentic.

The grilled fish was amazing! The flavor was rich and spicy, just the right balance. The tofu on the side was super crispy outside and soft inside. Really enjoyed the meal and would definitely come back again!

I ate here with my girlfriend, and the person who brought the food poured sauce into a boiling hot pot, and it sizzled in my face and eye. The employee splashed oil on my face.

We ordered the fried dim sum with chicken and vegetables and was tasty. For our main, we ordered a chicken dish, and it arrived swimming in oil and not tasty. Found the place to be very expensive also…they even charged €7.50 for some water. Definitely place is a tourist trap.

It used to be much more delicious than it is now. The chopped pepper fish head tastes exactly like stinky mandarin fish. Seriously? I feel like I'll remember it forever.

No visit to Amsterdam without a diner at FuLu Manderijn. Discovered it more than 10 years ago. Real authentic Chinese food. Perfect quality and taste. A lot of Chinese people eat here. Beware : Duck blood curd (鸭血) and Tripe (毛肚) are on the menu too. (Not for everyone 😀) The service is perfect. Looking forward to our next visit.
