It was authentic Sichuan cuisine, full of flavor, and the spiciness level could be adjusted, so even those who can't handle spice can try it. Here are a few dishes I consider must-orders, each one leaving a deep impression: • Spicy Chicken: The chicken pieces were fried until crispy, with a perfect balance of spiciness and numbing sensation. It was the most popular dish at the table. It was completely devoured within ten minutes of being served—it was incredibly delicious! • Spicy Stone Pot Fish: The fish was very tender, and the pot was still hot when it arrived, with the broth still boiling. The scalding heat gave the dish a smoky, comforting quality. Many of my friends don't eat fish, but they couldn't resist the aroma and started eating. • Dry Pot Shrimp: The shrimp seemed to have been fried. It was a standard dry pot dish, and the flavor was good. One thing I really want to highlight is that the shrimp shells were already peeled off, so eating them was completely mess-free, and taking big bites of shrimp meat was incredibly satisfying. • Stir-fried Green Beans: I highly recommend this. It's on par with the spicy chicken as an MVP. I could taste some Chaoshan preserved olives added during the stir-frying process—a very unique and original method I've never tried before. The two flavors blended perfectly, making it exceptionally delicious. The cooking time was also perfect; the green beans were still crisp. The portions were generous, and the food was served quickly. Overall, the dining experience was excellent. I've tried the other dishes before and feel confident ordering them as well. No wonder this restaurant is on Amsterdam's must-eat list.

This time in Amsterdam, I finally checked out the Sichuan restaurant Fulu that my friend had been raving about. After eating there, I can only say one thing: it’s really not an exaggeration—this is definitely one of the must-eat restaurants in Amsterdam! As an authentic Chinese restaurant in Amsterdam, their Sichuan cuisine is seriously on point. The numbing and spicy flavors are bold and fragrant, but not harsh on the throat at all—it’s the kind of spice that makes you want to keep eating more. Since there were quite a few of us, we ordered nine dishes, and every single one was perfect with rice. The chili chicken was crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, spicy but not overwhelming—such a pleasant surprise. The fish-fragrant eggplant and dry pot green beans were also totally on par with Sichuan restaurants back in China. A special shout-out has to go to the stone pot fish. I’m usually not a big fan of fish, but this dish was unexpectedly amazing—no fishy taste at all, and the broth was fragrant, numbing, and spicy. I couldn’t help but have a few extra bites. The restaurant is located near Dam Square, very easy to find. The environment is clean, and the service is friendly. In terms of food, this is the real deal. Excellent quality and flavors. Portions size is also decent for the money. Service was friendly as well. Only drink prices are a bit “touristy “ and to be careful with. We loved it overall.

The interior is clean and comfortable, with a warm, familiar Chinese restaurant atmosphere that makes you feel at ease the moment you walk in. The food focuses on classic Sichuan flavors: the mapo tofu is rich, spicy, and well balanced with a pronounced numbing kick; the dry pot shrimp is fragrant and bold without being greasy; the dry-fried green beans are perfectly cooked and incredibly addictive; and the chili chicken is generous, aromatic, and satisfying. Finding such genuine and well-executed Sichuan dishes in Europe is truly a pleasure.

During my recent trip to Amsterdam, I made a special trip to Fulu Mandarijn, a Chinese restaurant located in the city center, just a 1-2 minute walk from Dam Square. Although tucked away in a narrow, old building, the restaurant exudes a strong Sichuan atmosphere – the shared dining design is perfect for groups of 4-8 people. The large, generous portions of Chinese food make it ideal for gatherings or parties. We ordered stir-fried green beans, spicy chicken, Mapo tofu, tofu with beef, and a spicy fish dish. Every dish was incredibly fragrant, spicy, and perfect with rice! The stir-fried green beans were crisp and crunchy, the spicy chicken was numbing and fragrant, the Mapo tofu was rich and flavorful, and the tofu with beef was tender with smooth beef. The fish dish was the most amazing – the fish was fresh and tender, soaked in the spicy broth, and every bite was irresistible. The staff were also very friendly, proactively adjusting the spiciness for us, and speaking Chinese, English, and Dutch. The only minor drawback is that the restaurant is a bit cramped and the service is slightly slower during peak hours, but overall the experience is excellent. Compared to the bland Western food I'm used to in Europe, the Sichuan cuisine here is truly satisfying and comforting. If you're in Amsterdam looking for a "home-cooked" Chinese meal to share with friends, you should definitely consider Fulu Mandarijn – the atmosphere and the food are both highly recommended!

Fulu Sichuan Restaurant is absolutely amazing! The moment you step inside, you're enveloped by the rich aroma of Sichuan cuisine – the atmosphere is fantastic! Today we ordered the dry-fried green beans, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with the garlic and chili peppers bursting with flavor, leaving a lingering fragrance in your mouth. The spicy stone pot fish sizzled as it arrived, the red oil broth was incredibly fragrant, the fish meat was tender and easily separated from the bone, with absolutely no fishy taste, soaked up the spicy sauce – so satisfying! The spicy chicken was the soul of the restaurant; the skin was fried to a golden crisp, and each bite was bursting with juicy goodness. The dried chilies and Sichuan peppercorns pushed the spiciness to its peak – one plate after another! The dry pot shrimp were large with thin shells, the shrimp meat bouncy and sweet, the wok hei (wok aroma) and spiciness perfectly blended – you couldn't stop peeling them! The portions were generous, the flavors authentic, the layers of spiciness and aroma building up, leaving us sweating but bursting with happiness! The waiters were incredibly friendly, constantly refilling our rice and helping us take photos. The environment was clean and bright, and the value for money was phenomenal! I have to recommend this restaurant to all my friends who love Sichuan cuisine. I'll definitely bring my whole family here next time!

We had a big dinner here and every dish ended up being a total rice killer — Spicy Chicken, Kung Pao Chicken, Spicy Stone Pot Fish, Dry-fried Green Beans, Mapo Tofu, Fish-flavoured Eggplant, and Twice-cooked Pork. The Spicy Stone Pot Fish was the highlight for me — especially comforting on a cold, windy Amsterdam winter day. This place happens to be right next to our school, so whenever we don’t know what to eat, we just come here by default. It’s not the type of restaurant people line up for, but it’s consistent, convenient, and the flavours are always reliable. The space works well for groups, and the round tables make sharing easy. I don’t even have a single picture of it because I can never wait a second before eating it. The sauce is incredible — if you like sour flavors, you will definitely love this dish! Their mapo tofu is also amazingly delicious. I call it a “rice killer”, because I can easily eat three bowls of rice with just their mapo tofu. The other dishes were also very good. One of our fav’s in Amsterdam. We love the Beef Tenderloin in Sweet & Sour sauce as well as the Chicken in Bali Sauce. Gyoza are sensational, too. Service is fine, though atmosphere (no music, sharp lighting) and interior decoration could be improved.

Two brothers who met on a trip to Scandinavia! Our first get-together in Amsterdam! The food was great, and they even set up a table for four (because we're both big and take up a lot of space), which was very thoughtful. The younger sister even poured us beer (she's quite pretty). I checked out Fu Lu, a popular Sichuan restaurant in Amsterdam recommended by XHS. It was a bit pricey, but the portions were decent. As a native Chengdu resident, I wouldn't say the taste was amazing; it was just okay. It seems the online reviews were exaggerated. We had made a reservation beforehand. When we entered, we were shown to a four-person table near the back, but the owner wouldn't let us sit there and instead put us at a two-person table near the entrance where it was drafty. We sat there for a while without anyone attending to us until we called out before they brought us the menu. A couple who arrived later—an Indian and a Chinese couple—and an elderly Cantonese-speaking couple were all seated at a four-person table. Why the discrimination? Simply because we looked Chinese. Furthermore, the menu stated that they only accepted cash. The waiter explained that they didn't accept credit cards, only debit cards. Accustomed to carrying credit cards and a small amount of cash, I was stunned. Before the food even arrived, I rushed back to the hotel in the rain for over twenty minutes to get cash. Later, just before paying the bill, I overheard the waiter telling the next table that Apple Pay was accepted. You should have said so earlier! You made me come all this way for nothing. Sigh, I was hoping to experience the feeling of home while working in a Chinese restaurant in a foreign country. But it turns out I'm a little disappointed.

I had beef stew and eggplant tangsuyuk and they were so delicious... The oxtail stew had a slightly spicy flavor and was even more delicious. I eat it every time I come here. It was my first time trying the eggplant tangsuyuk and it was crispy and sweet, the perfect combination!!
