New Season Chinese Restaurant in Burgwallen-Oude Zijde

Super cozy and authentic Chinese restaurant - rare find!! Wasn’t able to take photos of the food (because we gobbled everything up right away) but I ordered the basic yang chow fried rice and wonton soup. Reminded me of home 🏠 really kind staff as well.

I visited this restaurant late in the evening when the city was winding down, and the air was filled with the scent of spices and fresh food. From the start, I knew it would be a great meal. The wonton soup had a rich, flavorful broth, and the dumplings were soft and delicious. The chicken udon had perfectly springy noodles with a tasty, umami-packed sauce. The chicken curry was creamy and well-spiced, just right. But the real star was the baked dumplings with sesame sauce—crispy outside, juicy inside, with a deep, slightly sweet sesame flavor. The atmosphere was fine but could be cozier with warmer lighting and small details. Still, the food was so good that I’ll definitely be back—maybe even late at night again!

Pretty average food and service. Fried chicken pretty bland and jasmin tea wasn't fresh. There are so many good Asian restaurants in the area. I would only go here if every other restaurant in Chinatown is closed.

Overpriced for the quality of food.

A quiet place and the attention was adequate. The taste of the rice is really delicious, it brings enough protein for the amount of rice they serve. You are really satisfied and the prices are appropriate to what they sell. I recommend this place.

I have been a regular there for over 12 years now. A few things have changed, but you can still count on very tasty food there. If you can handle spicy I recommend Kerry Laksa. New Season is my favourite place in the whole of Amsterdam. Good food, good service, convenient location and reasonable prices. Drop by and say hello.

Love this place. Warm and welcoming most of the time, except my last visit. I faced a ridiculous problem last week; when I want to split the bill with my friend, they charged each of us extra 1€.. for what? Just because we wanted to split the bill. It is unbelievable..

The takeout was on time, the staff was very friendly, the food was delicious, and the rice was just enough.

A hidden gem in the heart of Amsterdam!! Singaporeans/Malaysians and maybe Hongkongers, This is as close as it gets to find taste of home! The restaurant is cosy, staff are friendly, and food is legit good!! My good-to place to satisfy my craving for Singapore food when i revisit Amsterdam again.

Customer service non existence, had to endure a very stressful, embarrassing situation. Dining with 4 of my friends, 2 of them asked for a CHICKEN! Chow mein dish. Waitress comes out with Prawn. My friends suggest putting some chicken in it as ordered. But no waitress insist a new meal will be made by Chef then states we will have to pay for another meal and pay for leftover prawn chow main as per boss instructions. Obviously not familiar with customer service. My friends politley decline this requests saying we’re not interested in the leftovers they just want to pay for a chicken chow mein as ordered. Long story cut short they try putting the leftover chow meins on the bill 😂 we state we’re not paying we never asked for it nor eat it. Waitress constantly going back to chef/boss in kitchen saying we have to pay. In the end we just left the cash for the meals we ordered and left. But unbelievable experience!

This store is literally hot! The food is really delicious and what I would assume to be authentic. In any case, a kind warning should be given: In the menu there are one, two or three chili peppers as an indicator of the level of spiciness. Please don't overestimate yourself - my palate has already ridden a roller coaster with one pod 🙈 (but that's not a negative point for the restaurant!). The portion sizes are also very good and the price is really good! The employees were very nice and courteous, quick and attentive, everything was wonderful! Don't expect miracles when it comes to the ambience - there are nicer locations. And because this shop is no longer an insider tip, it can be difficult to even get a table. So you need a bit of luck - but if you do, you can expect a really great taste experience!

Very tasty curry laksa is excellent

A small far eastern restaurant in the center of Amsterdam. We ordered Malaysian noodles and beef udon. Both were very delicious and the portions were quite large. We ate some of it when I took this photo :) I recommend it.

cute little spot but absolutely gross. i watched the chef microwave 4 or 5 dishes before he realised and closed the curtain. service was poor - i was served my soup and then my partners dish didn't arrive for another 10 minutes. food was very plain and average. i also watched the waitress use a nasal spray and then sprinkle spring onions on a dish, really gross.

Red curry tofu was solid. It seems like a decent place. A bit expensive for what it is, but I guess that’s what you get for being in the center of town. Nice, efficient staff. I can recommend.

Tuve que pasar por uno de mis lugares favoritos en Amsterdam mientras estaba de vuelta en la ciudad. Y por supuesto quiero decepcionarme. La comida y el servicio eran tal como recordaba de mi visita el año pasado. Y volveré la próxima vez que esté en la ciudad. Las albóndigas de sopa eran increíbles.

Wonton noodles = Jixiang wontons with dried noodles...the wontons are also mushroom-flavored. Hold and eat.

Last day in Amsterdam and I found this little gem, the place is small and that's what I loved, the service and the people who serve are incredible. Everything was very delicious and I would definitely repeat.

Excellent food, fast service and good value for money.

Several times visited Amsterdam and always walked from Amsterdam Central Station to this busiest area. Tried my luck to find Asian restaurant with good rating here. And I was in love with it's Kerry Laksa which is Chef's recommendation. The prawn toast is also a must try here. Love all the food we ordered.

The Laska and fried rice and other things were all really really great! We were Asians and we all thought it was super tasty! Only that the Laksa took a long time to come (Maybe it should always be like this? I have never been to Malaysia)

Great food. Went back for the second time to make sure it was as good as we remembered. This is the best Asian food we’ve had in Amsterdam period. It’s a small place but they know flavors!!!

Worst Chinese restaurant I ever been

I have had the opportunity to visit this place twice, the first in 2022 and now in 2024 and boy is it an excellent place to eat ramen in Amsterdam. The service, the attention of the staff and the food are a gem, I would love to return in the future. Don't hesitate to order the ramen Tom Yam rice noodle soup. I highly recommend it!

very bland chicken "fried" rice. The rice and chicken were the same color (white) and i had to drench it in siracha and soy sauce to make it taste like anything.

Inconspicuous restaurant that you could easily walk past...but you shouldn't!!! Sensational soups, fantastic starters, authentic cuisine and super nice service. The prices are really cheap for the area, we ate here twice within 3 days even though there are hundreds of restaurants here. Thank you, great concept.

Some of the best Chinese food I’ve had. We got soup, gyoza and the sweet and sour pork with fried rice. Soups were amazing, the broth was beyond any others we’ve had. Sauce for the gyoza was also amazing. Perfect portions and kind service! We will be back.

Went there yesterday and ordered 2 bowls of curry noodle. The portion was huge, shared by 3 of us yet make us super full. Waiters are friendly with big smiley face, after close to 2 weeks of western food, the curry noodle here warm my tummy and spice up my days. Nice one

Used to come here very often. Now I moved away and try to eat here whenever I’m in the neighborhood. Their Laksa is the best I ever had. Great ingredients and the soup is amazing. Staff was friendly and attentive.

great portion sizes, food was nice I had sweet and sour chicken it was nothing to scream about but was nice, my boyfriend had the new season noodles and loved it. Quite a small place so it can be busy and rightly so, the food is excellent. The noodle soup is better than anything in Wagamamas by a country mile.

Very tasty and authentic restaurant. It was so delicious that we ate here twice during our vacation. The Salt & Pepper Chicken and Ramen are highly recommended. There was also delicious, fresh ginger tea and fresh mint tea. In terms of price, the restaurant is probably unbeatable. Everything else in the popular area is significantly more expensive. The restaurant is simply furnished. Small things could probably be improved here to make it visually more inviting.

I have eaten at many noodle shops and they are either very salty or very oily, and the noodles in Amsterdam are also very salty. This is the most comfortable restaurant I have ever eaten. The saltiness is just right. I would like to go there again. First choice for business trips And the waitress is also very kind.

A pleasant surprise that satisfied our cravings. All 6 of us loved what we ordered. We got #3 (pork wonton noodle soup), #4 (shrimp wonton noodle soup), #7 (Curry laska with chicken), #8 (seafood laksa), and #10 (tom yum soup). Great portion sizes for all dishes and everything tasted great. Service was attentive and food were prepared very fast.

My friends and I ate at this restaurant during our travel in Amsterdam, and we absolutely demolished the food! The portion size is huge, price is affordable, and the food is so so delicious. I highly recommend the Kerry Laksa and the Peking Duck. Eating here is worth your money, you will not be disappointed. We love the food so much, we came back the next day for lunch. We left this place both times feeling full and happy. I would come back to Amsterdam just for this.

One of the highlights of my Amsterdam trip. A much needed break from the burgers and chips that floods the city. This place left such a mark on me and my friends that we came two days in a row and still talk about it to this day. Shoutout to the chefs and waiters for providing us one of the best meals we have had. Very affordable given the prices in the city & the portions are quite generous too. Would come back to Amsterdam just to eat this food again!

Tried their Black bean beef and Singapore noodles. What I like most is the black bean beef. The beef is tender and very saucy. And tasty, as well. The prawn in their Singapore noodles is better than the glass prawn used for such fried noodles in Singapore unless you go to an expensive restaurant back home. However, there are very few vegetables in the vegetarian spring roll. The skin is a little thick, by comparison when the ingredients inside are less. On the whole, I still enjoy the meal.

Found this on our last day waiting to go to the airport. The food is freshly cooked, piping hot and delicious. We loved it. Really good, can’t fault it one bit. Quiet place which was lovely and very attentive and polite waiter. Wish we found it on our first night.

Reasonably priced cafe-style restaurant. We had excellent food, noodle soup and Ma Po tofu. Full of fresh ingredients. Pretty busy but tables came and went quickly, so I don't think anyone waited too long.
