Spacious, playful layout that complements the rest of the building. Friendly service, though the main course portion (ravioli) was a bit small. The food was delicious, though!

We were here for a birthday party and had a section of the restaurant to ourselves. Delicious appetizers were served as an aperitif. The staff was very attentive and friendly. The meal concluded with a three-course dinner. The first two courses were small, sharing-style bites. Very tasty and ample. A slightly different dining experience, highly recommended.

It's a shame that Leidse Lente has become a glorified snack bar. Everything served was wholesale and only moderately warm. The bitterballen (bitterballen) were still cold inside. The concept of sharing has permeated the menu, making it superficial and dull. The service was busy preparing a party, and we were asked to be ready by 8:00.

The food was ok, not too many options. Our server was nice but the man who i think was the owner would not allow us to split the bill. We were 12 people so it was ridiculous for 1 person to pay. Edit for reply to the owner: Tikkie is for dutch accounts, so basically if anyone is coming from abroad... don't bother.

There's a singer until 5 p.m. We arrive at 4:30 p.m. The week before, we ordered a bottle of bubbly that we had to down, knowing...it closes at 5 p.m. sharp. Now we wanted to order another bottle of bubbly. We're told they close at 5 p.m. Okay, just a glass then. The whole place is packed, there was a lot of looking around, and we had to ask if we could get a drink...?! You get the idea, we went somewhere else.

I celebrated my PhD defence at Leidse Lente, and it was a wonderful choice. The staff and service were friendly, attentive and engaged. The location is spacious with lots of light and perfectly suited for the event. They helped to make the special day very special. Thank you!

All three of us had the Waldorf salad. It was advertised as a main course salad, but it was a really small portion. More like a starter than a main course. A shame. We only ordered two extra portions of fries, which weren't on the menu, and that was enough. Dessert took too long because there was a large group of people who, like us, had to go to the show. Therefore, dessert was canceled, otherwise we would have been late. They waived the drinks as compensation. Now that's what I call service! The waitress was really nice and fast. It wasn't her fault.

A really great place! The art on the walls is gorgeous, the three-course surprise menu was super chill, and the staff really goes the extra mile. They clearly enjoy their work, and I appreciate that :)

A true gem in Leiden! We had a shared three-course dinner here on Saturday evening. The restaurant is located in a former trade school. The service is very relaxed and pleasant. As a starter, we had, among other things, a baguette with spreads and prawns. Delicious!! The second course was just as delicious (with, among other things, Albondigas). The dessert, Tartuffo Classico, was superb. A cup of coffee rounded it all off. What was also very pleasant was that we automatically received a carafe of water with ice with our glass of wine. Very pleasant service!!! In short: we had a wonderful evening.

Highly recommended for any occasion, but for us, we chose Leidse Lente to be our wedding venue, and we couldn't be happier with how things turned out. From the first meeting, owner Beau made it clear he wanted us to have a personalized experience that fit us. Together with chef Jan we created a delicious menu for our guests (some items which are on the regular menu!). And Beau was impeccable in his role as MC. Leidse Lente has a welcoming atmosphere, some of the most friendly and pleasant staff anywhere. They made this incredibly special day perfect, and we'll be regulars for all time.

For our company outing, we had the opportunity to dine with the entire group at Leidse Lente, and what a wonderful experience it was! The owner opened the doors especially for us, which we really appreciated. The food was delicious – fresh and carefully prepared – and the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A place with character where you immediately feel welcome. Definitely recommended for groups or a fun night out!

We came to eat with a group and really enjoyed it. We had incorrectly communicated how many we were coming to eat (eventually half) and yet we were perfectly taken care of and we were not charged anything. The atmosphere was nice and at the end of the evening sea shanties which was surprisingly a nice addition. We may have lowered the average age a bit, but the atmosphere was good.

I went to a Rogier show and it seemed extremely homophobic and I didn't feel welcome. And then this is a cultural café

Had lunch here today, on the lovely terrace in the courtyard. Food mediocre. I took the Hoisin prawns. Very small portion with 5 shrimp-like things, very small and in too thick a crust. Certainly not what you mean by gambas. I indicated this afterwards and it would be passed on….

Geweldige locatie in de oude ambachtsschool, voor een ongedwongen hapje en drankje. Verrassend leuke kaart met bijzondere gerechten zoals zeewier bitterballen. (Echt een aanrader by the way). Super vriendelijke bediening, scherp op lege glazen en uiterst behulpzaam/gastvrij. We gingen spontaan naar binnen, niet gereserveerd op zaterdagavond en gelukkig was er nog een plekje. Iets buiten het centrum, waarschijnlijk mis je daardoor de grote menigte, voor ons perfect. Parkeren is geen probleem aangezien ze net naast een grote parkeerplaats zitten (betaald). Goede prijs/kwaliteit en we gaan hier zeker nog een keer eten.

The atmosphere is nice, a bit like a living room, and the service is very friendly. Only the food is very pricey for what you get and unfortunately many dishes were just not particularly tasty. 'Loaded fries' consisted of fries with a few slices of chili pepper, truffle mayonnaise and some parmesan cheese on top. Fine, but the term 'loaded' really raises different expectations... (at least for me). The spinach curry looked more like stir-fried spinach with some tomatoes in it, but had little curry flavor. Snacks were good, I would stick with that next time based on my experience here.

Nice cafe & restaurant with art from the resident artists. Service was very friendly and helpful. A new shared dining concept has recently been launched where people can choose from different (world) dishes. We were pleasantly surprised with the chosen dishes, although some things still need to be perfected. All in all highly recommended!

The food just wasn't tasty. The bickering was not good, it gave me a lot of pounding pain. The hamburger was not made from a hamburger, but from pulled pork. Someone in my family didn't get their coffee. We had to ask extra about it. The toilets were really not clean, they smelled a lot. It is better not to eat here in the evening

The place looks pretty but is a pity that the service is so bad. Yesterday I asked for a beer and the girl appart from ignore me at first then she looked at me with a disgust face and gave me a small bier that was half foam. As I said, a pity because the place is nice.

Wd hadden hier s'ochtends al koffie (met appelgebak) gedronken, maar besloten er ook maar te gaan eten. De inrichting is zeg ouderwets, allemaal verschillende tafels met verschillende soorten stoelen, maar op een leuke manier gedaan. Je kan binnen, voor het gebouw of aan de achterkant beschut gaan zitten invdit oude schoolgebouw? Anyway de koffie was goed, dus nu diner. Ondanks de gedane aanbeveling voor een voorafje kozen aĺleen wat brood vooraf en allemaal 2 gerechten als hoofd (11 euro50 per gerecht) 1 * friet en 1 * gemengde salade. Ik had de kip en buikspek (de gerechten werden keurug na elkaar geserveerd. Smaakte prima, buikspek goed gegaard dus top. De aanbeveling 2-3 gerechten,maar we hadden goed gelunched dus 2 gerechtjes was voor ons genoeg. Als desert heb ik meegegeven met de eton mess, ook super. Al met al mooie ambiance, heel goed eten en ook nog betaalbaar, kortom een aanrader.

What makes this grand café so good is the freshness of the products, the wide range of vegetarian and vegan options, organic wines and all in a relaxed atmosphere. Quality is top, but price is on the high side.

Very nice place. Had a few drinks and a bite to eat. But the food was really not okay. Raw vegetable salad was some rotten lettuce without dressing. The mushroom schnitzel really just has a thick crust without any filling. Fat. The rest of the dishes tasteless and boring. I won't be going there for dinner again anytime soon.

Hello, a very nice place that we (Ina and Michel) found by chance and spoke German with the chef. He totally spoiled us with his cooking, the fish plate was so good, colorful, tasty 👍, the salad bowl so colorful 👍, dressing 👍 and the sweet potatoes ..... all in one, the restaurant is one of the top 3 in our area , We'll be back, even if it's tomorrow. A very original place. We sat upstairs in an alcove decorated with stuff from the 70s. Very atmospheric. Both meat and vegan options on the menu.

It couldn't be more appropriate. Have lunch at Leidse Lente on the first spring day of the year. A welcome stop on this city walk from Voorschoten. Both the kitchen and the service did not disappoint. Recommended!

Visited for the first time to pick up a surprise meal and I must say it was a good surprise. The food was nicely packed and tasty and the place itself...I need to go there again and reserve enough time because it really looks like a gallery...piece of art everywhere you look.

We had a pleasant evening here with nice live jazz music. Made a reservation at 7:30 PM but the food was just bad. I think it was under a heat lamp for fifteen or half an hour. The puff pastry vegan dish was not crispy but limp and collapsed. Taste nothing special. Ditto the fries. How dare you present it like this. So I won't eat here a second time. The cocktail 0% was delicious. Too bad, nice location.

Good restaurant/bar place with great corner for music 🎶. Very nice decorated with theme and vibe. Lights are just suit for the purpose. The restaurant has options of soft drink, bottle beer and fresh tap beer. Alcohol and bevarage are also on the menu with coffe and hot chocolate. There are possible to reserve the place for your party 🎉

Normaal eigenlijk altijd wel goed gegeten hier. Helaas waren ze vandaag ineens onverwachts gesloten. Er kan natuurlijk altijd iets gebeuren, maar wel heel vervelend als je met een grote groep voor een dichte deur staat terwijl je gereserveerd hebt. Geen bericht gehad over dat ze niet open zouden zijn en de reservering werd een aantal dagen geleden nog netjes bevestigd.
