Excellent location but less cozy on Sunday evenings.

Surf and turf was easily the best steak I’ve ever had. Rare as hens teeth, as red inside as the Leiden city flag. It comes with smoked salmon on top which is an absolute game changer. Definitely top 3 meals of my life. The servers were excellent. We ordered Stroopwaffel without any ice cream as we’re lactose intolerant. Without us even asking, the server went out of her way to find a dairy-free alternative. She got us every flavour of sorbet they had. Don’t even get me started on the drinks… their house made lemonade is unreal. Their fruity mojitos, unreal. The port tasting option for desert, unreal. TLDR: Good food, good cocktails, good staff, good price, don’t miss out on going to this place

The food was delicious! The price-quality ratio was excellent. Where else can you get a three-course meal for this price? Compliments! I had the salmon with hollandaise sauce, and it was prepared beyond perfection. Compliments to the chef. The lady who served us was incredibly hospitable and very friendly. You don't see that very often in restaurants anymore. She explained everything very clearly and knew what she was talking about regarding the dishes on the menu. And when we paid, she even wrote a personal note on the receipt :-) In short, I highly recommend eating here if you live in Leiden or the surrounding area.

A very warm atmosphere for dinner, with a truly welcoming and friendly staff. The three-course menu for less than €30 is good value for money (but you shouldn't order dishes outside this menu as they would be too expensive, as the cuisine is decent but basic). Dogs are welcome, which is a plus.

We popped in here tonight. We first checked at the door to see if there was anything for our children, who unfortunately are picky eaters. Someone briefly explained the menu, but when I mentioned that our children are quite picky eaters, she immediately asked what they would like. Once I told her, she said she could make it. And indeed, everything was perfectly arranged. The food was deliciously prepared for us. Good service, nice atmosphere, quiet restaurant. Highly recommended.

The three-course menu contains a wide choice of versatile dishes. For the main course we both chose the trio fish with lobster sauce, it was finger-licking good! We also noticed the friendliness of the staff, with a nice personal text written on the receipt. In short, a nice place with good food for a nice price.

We stopped in here just 15 minutes before closing for a quick dessert, and were made so welcome! Crème brûlée and chocolate cheesecake were super good and our server was delightful. We truly appreciated the good food and service and would love to return again for a complete meal, as the menu looked great!

What a great restaurant. Last visited in 2017 and it was very busy and student-like. Now different ambiance and pleasant and 3 courses for 30 euros! The food was really great. Especially the prawn starter.

We enjoyed a delicious three-course dinner with a group of 22 people. Due to the size of the group we were given a separate room at the side of the restaurant, which was perfect. The table was attractively set. The food was delicious and the service was very friendly. A successful evening!

Had a great night out with my colleagues. We were pleasantly surprised to find a restaurant with such a great atmospheer, good food and friendly service, they even offered Vegan options for one of our colleagues and all that for only 24,95. We will definately be back!

We had a delicious meal, luckily we had made a reservation for Saturday evening because every table was occupied. We had the chicken satay and the surf and turf, nothing but praise for the chicken. About the surf and turf, we ordered it without a dairy product (potato gratin/bearnaise sauce) but unfortunately there was no replacement option, even though we had requested this. The final score was a bare plate with only a piece of steak and four shrimps. Still had a pleasant evening because the wine and beer tasted excellent!

There are a lot of staff who apparently do not communicate with each other. Management is downright chaotic. I ordered satay with side dish rice. Only 1 skewer of satay is served. This is the entire main course. When inquiring about the rice, the order appears not to have gone through and it suddenly does not belong to the dish. When I indicated that I was not okay with what was happening, the waitress made no effort to resolve the issue. Disgusting behavior and unprofessional staff. Sad experience. Eating with a group of people at Sijgje was the last time.

Both the shrimp and the sole gilet have little taste. Staff are very friendly.

Door chaotische bediening kreeg ik een hoofdmenu geserveerd dat bestond uit 1 sate stokje. Toen ik hier iets van zei tegen bediening werd probleem niet opgelost. Hier gaan we dus nooit meer heen.

Pretty nice tent for avg 25 euros pp without vegetables!! However, the following is my opinion. I was eating there and a couple came in with a dog. I don't like a dog in a restaurant at all.

Wat een ontdekking, dat een menu voor deze prijs nog aangeboden wordt is al bijzonder maar er dan achter komen dat er niet wordt beknibbeld op kwaliteit of grootte van de porties is in 2024 uitzonderlijk. Wij kozen beiden een driegangenmenu en alles wat we kregen was erg goed. Het menu bestond uit zoveel gerechten dat het eenvoudig kiezen was. De porties zijn ruim en de bediening is vriendelijk en snel. Hier gaan wij vaker naartoe als we in Leiden zijn.

If you want to sit on the toilet all night with stomach cramps, I would definitely recommend the shrimp cocktail!

Wanted to eat on Tuesday but turns out to be closed. According to the site they are closed on Mondays but I was there on Tuesday at 5pm. 15 for a closed case. Site clearly indicates that they are open on Tuesday😭😭

This was overall a pleasant meal with no surprises. I had the 'catch of the day', a white fish served on a bed of steamed vegetables and accompanied by a serving of chips (frites) and mayo. The fish would have benefited from more spice and salt (in my view). The service was good and the waiter was helpful. On the whole, I enjoyed the evening but, when in Leiden again, I will not go out of my way to visit the restaurant again.

My food was the only one on the table that was late, which wasn't strange until the waiter mentioned it 3 times and apologized in a passive-aggressive manner. Furthermore, the cocktails were more expensive than indicated on the menu, and the waiter regularly dropped things on the rest of the table (dirty spoon, menu, etc.). Bit of a strange experience and I would have liked more vegetarian options.

Ordered a children's menu and a 3-course menu, but the chicken was still pink when it was served, so it could go straight back into the kitchen. Everything else was fine, service was great. It was also indicated in advance that someone was sick, so they had fewer staff. We were asked if everything was okay and if we wanted to eat/drink something. Overall great dining spot in the center of Leiden

Good food, cheap and nice service

One of us has a lactose allergy, so we had to ask 3 staff members what she could eat, because they went to ask the cook and didn't come back, which was a shame.

It's a bit of a shame that they don't know much about allergies. It's not on the menu and if you ask if something contains lactose you have to ask 3 employees before you get an answer

Je kan hier heerlijk eten... A la carte of 3 gangen keuzemenu. Keuze uit vlees, vis en ook vegetarisch. Aanrader!!!

Driegangenmenu. Eten was van goede kwaliteit, de porties alleen soms aan de kleine kant. Aardige bediening. Beetje vreemd entree, twee deuren, vlak achter elkaar, waarbij de eerste naar binnen opent en de deur erachter naar buiten, waarbij je snel in een file terecht komt. Beetje onhandig.

Even though they were short on staff the service was very attentive. The menu is not pretentious and the food is good (in line with the expected price/quality combination). We will be back.

I was surprised that the restaurant was very quiet. They serve a fixed price 3 course meal for €23.95. Less than I had paid for a single course in Hamburg. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was very tasty and good quality.

Hartstikke goed concept om in deze dure tijden betaalbaar en lekker versssend uit eten te kunnen gaan.

Reserveren is aan te raden mede door aantal stoel plaatsen binnen en twee tafels buiten. Goed eten met timing voor service, er wordt gevraagd naar bv de grootte van portie sla leveren (je kan andere alsnog extra schaalvragen) om zomin mogelijk voedsel verspilling te krijgen. Goede keuzes in 3 gangen menu en naast menu kaart ook extra keus van de dag op een menubord.

Heerlijk gegeten voor een prima prijs!

Voor de prijs is het in orde. De kwaliteit is redelijk, helaas was er bij iedere gang een of meerdere gerechten verkeerd (totaal wat anders dan we besteld hadden), wat wel netjes werd opgelost met gratis koffie.

Heerlijk gegeten, goede porties en smakelijk. Super vriendelijke medewerkers die goed rekening hielden met dat we snel naar een optreden moesten. En waar kun je nog eten voor dit geld en deze kwaliteit? Absolute aanrader; we komen graag nog eens terug!

Heerlijk gegeten voor een schappelijke prijs, sweervol restaurant en vriendelijke bediening. vooral de sparerib viel gewoon van het bot af smullen.

Zeer slecht eten. We hebben nog nooit zo onsmakelijk gegeten. Vlees te droog, saus uit een pakje (en niet het beste). Je eten komt uit een vriesvak van de supermarkt én er wordt geen moeite gedaan om het goed te bereiden. Betaald, en nooit meer.
