Had a few 🍻 and some food there , really good. First time there and will definitely be back. Friendly staff

Upon arrival it was already very warm inside the restaurant, mainly due the high demand of cheese fondue on the tables. The cheese fondue was lovely, but not the greatest I've ever had. Would recommend it, just keep in mind the price/quality ratio. The terrace outside is great when the sun is out, the wine is good!

We had a wonderful evening; the cheese fondue was delicious. The cheap bread they served with the fondue after an hour was a real disappointment! It was as if they didn't know how many people would be there!

The three of us ate cheese fondue here through Social Deal. What a disappointment. Mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, bell peppers, and raw cauliflower florets were the four vegetables. The cheese fondue and bread were okay. The additional meat platter we ordered was completely ridiculous. These meats—mortadella, salami, and something else—don't taste good with cheese fondue at all. The restaurant couldn't do anything about it when a customer became unwell and had to vomit (not even half a meter away from us). My appetite had vanished. The waiter's response: "Well, there's nothing we can do about that either." That's true, but a bit friendlier would be nice. Definitely not worth repeating, which is a shame.

Nice setting, very pleasant decor. But a major drawback is the food: the ground beef was frozen, very tough, and had a very peculiar taste; the crème brûlée was runny and not at all crispy on top. Very expensive for the quality of the food.

Nice place to enjoy a drink, we didn't eat there, it was quite busy in the late afternoon, but a place was made available, the service, the staff, all very friendly, the drinks were taken quickly and I must say, the gin and tonic, was as it should be and as for the price, it was also good, it was a pleasant stay there for a while👍👍

Nice seating area by the water, but ordering gluten-free drinks isn't an option. They don't know anything about allergens, and there are no options. It's a shame you can't think of anything to serve your guests gluten-free snacks.

Beautiful location! My father and I wanted to go out for something to eat after a short tour of the city. We were looking for a restaurant with a nice atmosphere and found this one. Even though it was just the two of us, we were allowed to choose where we wanted to sit and sat near the canal. We were immediately served in a friendly and courteous manner. We both ordered the Scarlatti burger and were extremely pleased with the quality and the delicious taste. The price was reasonable for the location in the heart of Leiden. We highly recommend this restaurant and are looking forward to our next visit!

We thought our cake and cappuccino were soooo delicious. The staff was very friendly. We were served quickly. Beautiful view. Nice little shop. We would come again.

My wife and I dined here on Saturday, August 2, 2025. The service was friendly and helpful with sugar-free alternatives to the iced coffee. The food was excellent, as was the presentation. The price-quality ratio was excellent. Highly recommended. The only point for improvement is that the weizen (seasonal draft beer) isn't available in large glasses, only in 0.30 liters. Perhaps add an option for 0.5 liters.

Lovely view right by the canal; peaceful place to sit and watch the ducks. Friendly service. The tuna melt, croque monsieur and iced coffee were all exceptionally tasty!

Had a slice of apple pie and a flat white, both were ok. However, the pie was a bit too sweet and too soggy in my opinion.

Bij het hoofdgerecht frites besteld, werd niet geserveerd ook niet na nogmaals vragen. Het duurde zolang dat wij het hoofdgerecht al gegeten hadden om te voorkomen dat het een koud hoofdgerecht zou worden. De frites hebben we geweigerd. Ook de bestelde glazen wijn kwamen niet, ook niet na dit de tweede keer gevraagd te hebben. Bij het afrekenen was het : sorry, enige miscommunicatie en ik heb vanavond mijn avond niet!!!! Kortom zeer teleurstellend.

The reservation itself went fine. When we arrived at the restaurant it turned out that our request for a preferred seat had not been honored. A solution was found for that. The cheese fondue itself was absolutely perfect, the service friendly, but the vegetables consisted of celery, peppers, tomatoes and mushrooms. During previous visits there were cauliflower florets and other more digestible vegetables. The old baguette had also been replaced by simple sandwiches. A shortage could be reported and then the bread supply was replenished. Such a shame that the package from a year ago (maybe two years) has changed so much that a next visit is not likely. The staff was as friendly as ever, it's not their fault. The menu has been adjusted, and how! The sliced ​​sandwiches made way for a good quality baguette. After half an hour the staff came to ask if the baguette needed to be refilled. The vegetables were lightly blanched and were easy to combine with the cheese. The taste was perfect. This was our brunch haunt in our student days, so for sentiments sake we lunched here after years. Still the same laidback vibe, just a cosy and reliable cafe for a decent meal. Great spot for a casual lunch or supper.

**Restaurant review: Inhumane behavior and unprofessional service** I experienced by far the most inhumane behavior I have ever experienced in this restaurant. The urgent question arises as to whether the basic values ​​of the employees are still being taken into account here. After a long journey of three hours and a tiring sightseeing tour in Leiden, my girlfriend and I were tired and hungry and hoped to take a well-deserved break at this restaurant. We were assigned a sunny table, but during our afternoon stay many tables were unoccupied. As I looked through the menu, I explained to the waiter that I was pregnant and on a vegan diet and because of my nausea I couldn't eat everything and couldn't find anything suitable on the menu. So I politely asked if there could be an exception so that I could bring a bowl from the restaurant opposite and eat it here. The waiter congratulated me on my pregnancy and assured me that in my particular case this was permitted as an exception. While my friend ordered a drink and a meal, I opted for a drink and brought my bowl from the nearby restaurant. While we were eating, several servers passed our table without complaining. But as soon as my friend had emptied her plate, a waitress came to our table and explained in a stern tone that there were house rules that forbade eating food that she had brought with her, and immediately asked me to leave the restaurant. Completely stunned, I explained why I had received permission from the waiter in charge, but the waitress reacted rudely, walked away without a word and called the waiter over. His reaction was hard to believe: without making eye contact, he stared into space and, in a shaky voice, stammered something about “house rules” that he had “misunderstood” and urged us to leave again. This treatment was not only unprofessional but also deeply disrespectful, especially towards a pregnant woman. I wasn't allowed to finish my meal and my drink was left untouched on the table. In every respect this was unacceptable behavior. I will never enter this restaurant again. The service staff behaved unprofessionally and inhumanely and as a manager there is no justification for this event. There is an urgent need to train employees in dealing with guests and to convey basic values ​​and norms. Until this happens, no one should visit this restaurant.

The salmon wasn’t cook and that was twice that happened. The waitress could not have been more helpful lovely service . Have a dairy intolerance. So choose the salmon. It looked very hot but the middle was cold and uncooked. So handed back. They did give me another piece but the same thing. They did give us free glass of wine. On the end I left hungry. Chef should check with a probe thermometer surely. No good enough. My partner later said his hamburger wasn’t hot either. Disappointed. Also this is not true Italian restaurant

Waardeloze zaak 2 broodjes truffelsalami a € 12,50 besteld dan mag je toch wel iets verwachten nou het was een kaiserbroodje met veel sla en 2 plakjes Jumbo truffelsalami. Toen ik er wat van zei werd er gezegd door de ober ja is beleid van de eigenaar alles is duur tegenwoordig en het is duurder omdat we op een toeristenplek zitten. Jammer het is een leuke plek waar je dus word opgelicht.

We were in Leiden on the 27th April and they were celebrating King's Day (Koningsdag), which involved people wearing orange, and drinking, very similar to St. Patrick's day. We stopped off at Scarlatti Restaurant for an early meal, recommended the burger, apple pie and a espresso martini. Staff very friendly, great atmosphere, a good opportunity to watch the world go by.

Nice place, professional and fast service. The soup of the day was delicious, but the steak could have had more vegetables sides. The portion was definitely too small for a guy.

Put a damper on a weekend away. We first got a drink and bread. After the hand we asked for the card ourselves. Taking the order also took a while. Tables that came in later also had their food earlier. Then came the plates of food, one with the wrong dish. My wife finished and then my food arrived. The portions are very small. Even my wife, who is not a big eater, wanted to go to McDonalds afterward. The quality is also disappointing, you can quickly make it better/tastier yourself.

Ik was met een vriend voor een museumbezoek in Leiden. Op Social Deal zocht ik naar een gezellig restaurant om te dineren. Ik vond dit restaurant, dat kaasfondue aanbood tegen een heel redelijke prijs. De kaas van de kaasfondue was lekker, de groente ook, maar ik had wat verse groenten (worteltjes en zo) verwacht. Wij namen géén voorgerecht, maar welk een lekker toetje. Het was gezellig druk, maar niet erg gehorig en daardoor hebben wij goed kunnen bijpraten en lekker gegeten.

Heerlijke kaasfondue. Een prettige sfeer en aardige bediening. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

De verhouding tussen het eten en de prijs is abnormaal. Voor een kaasfondue bijna 50 euro moeten betalen. Met als argument dat de kaasfondue per persoon betaald wordt. Wat je dan krijgt voor die 50 euro is om te janken. Als het enkel per persoon kan worden afgerekend, mag wel het dubbele geserveerd worden.. Dit was de eerste en de laatste keer hier.

Leuk restaurant in Leiden. Wij waren met 5 personen waarvan 1 persoon glutenvrij moet eten. Bij binnenkomst hebben wij gevraagd of die mogelijkheid er was en dat was zo. Echter bij doorvragen werd er niet 100% glutenvrij gewerkt in de keuken. Geen aparte oven om broodjes in af te bakken, geen aparte glutenvrij werkplek om het gerecht klaar te maken. Wij hebben het risico genomen om het te eten, met het gevolg dat diegene die glutenvrij moet eten er toch ziek van geworden is. Het eten wat geserveerd is was overigens prima. Klaarmaken van glutenvrije gerechten moet echt verbeterd worden als je dit daadwerkelijk aanbiedt op de menukaart.

Heerlijk gegeten en geborreld. Wijn en borrelhapjes waren top. Bediening en sfeer waren gezellig!

We had a table for 6 persons. Food was ok but nothing special. We had burger, tuna salad, ossobucco, raviolis and risotto. Service was good and they allowed us to stay almost one hour after official closing time.

Het is een mooi plekje in Leiden om te zitten maar het eten viel ons tegen. De bolletjes waren te hard overgebakken. Je betaalde veel geld voor een kleine hap en eten dat niet lekker over het broodje verdeeld was. Zo had ik een een hap honing terwijl de honing op de rest van het broodje amper te proeven was. De bediening deed nog wel zijn best om een nieuw broodje te geven nadat we ons onvrede hadden uitgesproken. Het broodje smaakte iets beter maar nog steeds niet heel goed. Ondanks de fijne bediening eet ik de volgende keer toch liever ergens anders.

Voordat ik kwam eten had ik mailcontact gezocht omdat ik Coeliakie heb. In de mail werd aangegeven dat wat betreft de hoofdgerechten alles, behalve de hamburguesa, glutenvrij gemaakt kon worden. Dat maakte me erg enthousiast. Eenmaal zittende aan een tafel bleek dat 1 gerecht glutenvrij was. Weg keuzemogelijkheid. Op de mail die ik als feedback stuurde heb ik nog geen reactie ontvangen. Jammer dat dit zo gelopen is. Heb nu het gevoel gehad dat ik niet serieus ben genomen.

Dagje cultuur snuiven in Leiden en bij Scarlatti lekker gelunched. Prima en toegankelijk restaurant en op het terras voldoende plek. De Spaanse Plancha is een aanrader en goed te doen om met z'n 2'en te delen.

Als locale bewoner van de stad is dit niet de eetgelegenheid waar je gaat zitten. Het eten is "net als thuis" en de bediening is vriendelijk, maar gehaast. Toeristen zullen hier hun vrij normale broodje voor net iets te veel geld prima kunnen bestellen maar zullen zich ook realiseren dat je elders in de stad ook heel lekker kunt eten.

We zijn daar geweest voor borrel op terras. Gezellig terras, deels aan het water. Vriendelijk personeel en lekkere bitterballen

Sowieso een toppertje in Leiden! Zelfs met het hete weer goed te doen door veel parasols. Vandaag was de service helaas trager dan normaal. Misschien door de hitte?
