Nice tent, cozy and excellent food. It's just a pity that if you make a reservation, there will be a sign on your table upon arrival that says 'reserved from 12 noon to 2 p.m.' After that, this spot is reserved for someone else. It's not a wok restaurant, is it? A bit strange. So after a good lunch you can't just have a nice cup of tea, coffee or a drink. You can, but you have to drink and chat quickly. The tent was quite full, so you can also say no if there is no room left. Quality before quantity.

Weer prima gegeten en gedronken! Wat mij opvalt geen snitzel of varkenshaas als je gezelschappen krijgt is het ook lekker als er niet alleen verschillende soorten biefstuk op de kaart staat! Positief bedoelt maar niet iedereen vind biefstuk lekker brede kaart houden. Prima avond gehad trouwens complimenten 😀👏

The food is simply good, good atmosphere and friendly and efficient service. We always come back here. Make sure you make a reservation for lunch because it is always busy!

First of all, it's been a while since I had a rib-eye steak that was this good! I enjoyed it a lot! 😋 Secondly, the service was on point! We were supposed to come with more people which changed last minute but it was no worries at all. And we originally would've had the full meal bundle for everyone but it was possible to switch to à la carte which was very welcome for the people who can't eat a 3 course meal! Thirdly, the restaurant itself was quite beautiful. Nice lighting, not to bright or to dark and the the tables were nicely spaced so I couldn't hear other people speaking at their tables. I've been to restaurants where this wasn't the case. Lastly, Google Maps limits me to giving 5 stars but I would've given more stars if it was possible.

What a Grand Café. The welcome was friendly. Beautiful appearance of the interior. Spacious layout of the tables. The lunch menu was well presented and extensive. Each dish stated which ingredients it contained, for allergies. Service was very friendly. The drinks were on the table in no time. The lunch dishes were really perfect. The garpaccio (or bread) sandwich and the goat cheese sandwich were great. See photos. Compliments. Keep it up. We will definitely come back

Top tent. Very atmospheric, delicious food. Portion size could have been a little larger. But that was the only disadvantage. Friendly staff too!

Great restaurant. The food is good, but not exceptional. It is a large restaurant, which makes it feel less cozy, but it is attractively decorated. Service is alert, but not pushy.

Had to wait a long time for the starter.. then had to wait even longer for the main course.. and the receipt for the dessert was lost so we ended up waiting an hour for that too. In the meantime, they could have made more money from us by asking for another drink... this didn't happen... a shame because that's what they need. The food was delicious! And worth the wait! The atmosphere and staff are also great!

I have now sat here on the terrace for the 2nd time in six months. Food is really good. Had a generous snack board for the first time, super tasty. Today again (in the sun) on the terrace. With wonderfully warm cushions in the back! Had a super tasty grilled chicken sandwich. It took a while but it was very tasty and (I think €10.95) so still reasonably priced for a very generous portion of chicken. I'd love to come back. Definitely recommended!

Delicious food!! A cozy place to go out for a nice meal. A bit noisy but hey, what do you want with all those happy guests haha. Friendly staff. Only downside; the fries we got were all hard ends, not tasty fries.

Yesterday we ate at this restaurant with two friends for a birthday. As a starter we had a sharing board for three people. The board was well stocked with delicious snacks (carpaccio, salmon, croquettes, shrimps, etc.) There were two croquettes on the board, so it was a bit of a fight, but as grown men we were of course able to solve this (rock, paper, scissors). As a main course I had a Ribeye with pepper sauce. Can only say it's the best ribeye I've ever had! Super tasty and served with tasty fries and some vegetables on the side. Fries came a little later than the main course and I thought the vegetable portions were a bit meager, but that certainly didn't spoil the fun. For dessert we had a cheesecake served with mint ice cream. I'm not really a dessert expert, but the dessert was delicious. All in all we had a very nice and tasty evening. I can recommend this restaurant to everyone. Despite a few minor points, I definitely dare to give this five stars!

A beautiful place, but we had to wait so long for our food without being told ... the burger was disappointing and partly cold ... the staff was partly friendly but not warm or attentive ... for the amount of money I have really eaten better and nicer elsewhere then here...not worth repeating for me...a pity because you radiate elsewhere...

Had lunch with a group of 30 people following a special family gathering. Nice secluded spot in the conservatory at the back of the business. Good choices on the menu and very tasty. Not just any sandwich: beautifully served. Pleasant and smooth service. Compliments.

We spent a very pleasant family evening in this cafe. Very cozy atmosphere both inside and on the summer terrace. Incredibly delicious food and good service. The dishes are very large and filling. Dinner for 3 people with wine cost 56 €. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Mooie inrichting, uitgebreide kaart en het eten is goed. We waren met een grote groep op zaterdagavond en moesten veel geduld hebben: na anderhalf kwam het hoofdgerecht. 🫤 als het terras vol zit kan de keuken het niet aan.

The attendant was very friendly and even gave us a tip about the chef’s special for the day, which we ended up ordering. It turned out to be the highlight of our day, and we had a wonderful time. For us, the prices were quite reasonable considering what we ordered and the quality of the food.

Ate with 5 people. 4 were satisfied but the chicken slices in port gravy were tasteless. Shame

Gezellig zitten. Redelijk vriendelijke bediening. Prima kaart (aan de prijzige kant) met smaakvolle gerechten. Ze bieden cocktails aan maar weten daar vrij weinig vanaf. Pornstar martini schenken ze zonder prosecco / mousserende witte wijn en aperol glas zat half vol voor serieus bedrag. Wij waren een weekendje weg en voor een keer was dit prima. Zou er niet nog een keer naar toe gaan

Leuke locatie, leuk terras, nette en attente bediening en lekker eten. Voor ieder wat wils, goeie vega opties, lekkere salades. Komen zeker terug!

We enjoy coming here and are always satisfied with the quality of the food and service. This time we ate a large goat cheese salad and surf and turf. The prawns in particular were very tasty and the round steak was wonderfully tender and cooked just right. The fries served with it were also delicious. The service was smooth and attentive. We sat in the conservatory, which is a lovely and quiet place, especially because our dog can lie inconspicuously under the table there and no one will be disturbed. It was very thoughtful that a bowl of water was immediately brought for the dog. We definitely recommend this restaurant, even if you just want to have a drink on the terrace.

We always thought it was a wonderful place and visited often. However, the last 3 times the food has not been good for the price you pay. And the food is deteriorating. Unimaginative and tasteless. Too bad because the place is cozy. Nice on the terrace with a drink, but we don't need food anymore. The charm has now worn off somewhat.

How can you lie? See your response to my review. No one spoke to us and no one said to check where our order was. We were ignored. What is so difficult about non-alcoholic beer and a non-alcoholic cocktail. But speak the truth and don't lie. You'll never see us again. Waiting a long time for our drink. 5 people after us got their drinks much earlier. We also ordered food. We asked the waiter what we wanted to ask, and the answer was: the person from your table will be there shortly. When we told her that we wanted to ask something, she just walked away. Then we got up and left. What a worthless staff. So 1 star is still too much.

Een erg leuke plaats om te zitten en het personeel was erg vriendelijken snel! We hebben Kabeljauw en een Bavette steak gegeten. Deze laatse was goed van smaak, maar er zaten echt te veel spieren in. Jammer voor een gerecht van € 33,00. Daarnaast verwachtten wij eigenlijk naast de gebruikelijke patat, ook iets van groente. Dit was er, op een heel klein schijfje mais en een groene peper, niet.

Service good, but strange that you always have to check if there is room... even when there is hardly anyone there. There is plenty of free time during your stay... otherwise okay... nice service.

Ate here yesterday. It was very good. Not much you get besides your meat. Unfortunately, there is little that is possible if, for example, you are on a diet and are not allowed to eat certain things. For example, asked for just some strawberries for dessert. That is not possible because they will not have enough for other desserts. These wishes are possible at other restaurants.

First we sat on the terrace and then we had a delicious meal. Excellent service.

One of my table companions suffers from a gluten allergy. Few other options were offered to her. Still, my personal experience with De Wheem is excellent.

Mooi interieur, zit heel gezellig. Voorgerecht was helaas smakeloos en het duurde veel te lang tot hef hoofdgerecht kwam. Dat was superlekker en maakte veel goed!

We just had a delicious lunch together. Nicely decorated, good staff and delicious food! If we are in the area again we will definitely come back here.

When we got to the terrace we were not greeted, waited awkwardly while the waiter stood next to us. Food was expensive for the amount you get. Took a long time before we could order, pay, etc. We were not asked if it was satisfactory. Service was slow and unenthusiastic. Shame! Was well regarded and the menu looked good!

Came to eat with 3 people, 1 of whom was vegetarian. The vegetarian poke bowl was without inspiration, it was all separate products put together, but there was nothing that brought it all together. The guacamole was tasty though. The salmon sandwich was okay, but compared to the carpaccio sandwich, it was a bit poor. The latter was very tasty! Service was okay until we finished the food. We went without drinking for a while while she walked by regularly. When we did get drinks, our glass was warm. Beautiful thing indeed!

An attractive restaurant with friendly service. It was quite busy but the service handled it well. The vegetarian pasta was tasteless. The pasta was overcooked, there was a hint of something "tomato-like" somewhere, but the taste was otherwise unrecognizable. The curry was good. Received a request via email to report positive feedback if you had a good experience. It is of course good to report positive feedback, but perhaps something less positive is also helpful 😀.

Very attractive grand café in a beautiful building in a beautiful location in Meppel. You immediately feel "at home" upon entering. The staff is very friendly and fast. The food is delicious. Highly recommended if you want to eat out in Meppel.

We wanted to try something new and accidentally came across De Wheem, upon entering it was already very atmospheric. We waited less than a minute and staff already arrived to ask what our wishes were. We wanted to have lunch if we could. We were allowed to choose a table, the waiter came to our seat quite quickly to ask for something to drink. Which was also served quickly. Then they soon came to ask what we wanted to eat, and our choice quickly fell on the De Wheem drinks board. And the bacon fries. That is highly recommended! We have never had such a delicious lunch as here. I would like to give my compliments to Roos, what a great person! Sees what needs to be done and is already at the table when the glass is just empty. Until next time!

Had a very nice evening and delicious food. The hamburger (black Angus burger) remains the tastiest burger in Meppel, for me personally.

Reservations online did not work so I had to contact them by telephone. After we had eaten our main course, we were told that the table had to be available again after ten minutes! Not exactly customer-friendly of course. The portions are small and the side dishes have the same quantity regardless of how many guests are at the table. Nothing was said about possible additional orders.

We celebrated my mother's 90th birthday here last Sunday. Everything was very well organised. The food was delicious. Good attention was also given to the smallest children with a coloring page, lemonade and plenty of food choice. Everyone enjoyed it.

Had lunch here with a friend who was visiting from Germany, great sandwich! We paid €28 for both sandwiches and 2 drinks, which is very reasonable in this company when you go out for lunch. I've been here before, and have been satisfied every time so far!

What once started out promising has now become a grabber. As an example I will give two simple things. 1. The sandwich used to be reasonably decorated, now it is poor and smaller, and mainly made approximately 60% more expensive. All in all: twice as expensive, I estimate. 2. Four weeks ago you received a reasonably strong double espresso in a cup, 5 to 6 sips of good espresso for approximately €3.60. Now you are served with a small glass, at most two sips of prulespresso that barely has any taste, the price?: €3.95€€€. The catering industry is doing poorly, during the corona period people were still begging for help, but now they are riding the waves of so-called inflation. I avoid this greedy eatery.

What a beautiful location! When the weather is nice you can sit outside, but now the terrace was full so we sat inside. It was very quiet here, but with the warm weather it was nice and cool inside. The service was very good and smooth. Delicious food for a very reasonable price.
