A really lovely place where the food is also excellent. The croquettes were delicious, the bread fresh. Nice space and good service.

Had a good meal on a Saturday. The spicy chicken sandwich is very tasty and they are absolutely not stingy with the chicken. The goat cheese salad also looked good. The children had American pancakes which looked good too. A plus point of this place is that they have games.

We had brown bread with two veal croquettes and the spicy chicken. It was a day of fighting. I thought the prices were a bit on the high side for what you get. The spicy chicken really wasn't spicy... The service for such a busy day was good and friendly.

Nice little place where you can enjoy a delicious meal or have a cozy drink. There is a beautiful terrace outside. The staff is very friendly, and it is perfectly fine to eat here after a gastric bypass! It is very nice to know that I can come here without them making a fuss about smaller portions, etc. ☺️

We reserved a table in the garden for five people. Because the surface is uneven, the tables wobble, and when I rested my arm on the table, a glass of beer spontaneously fell over. This was replaced with a free new glass of beer. We ordered 3 portions of spareribs, and according to the menu, fries were included as standard. A hamburger with fries and a kids' meal. Upon delivery, we only received 2 portions of fries, and according to the waitress, we were supposed to share, even though the menu states ribs with fries with every meal. We ordered one extra portion for €4.75. We then checked with other tables and saw that fries were included with every meal separately, even at a table with 2 portions of spareribs. Apparently, this is how the spilled beer is compensated for. Furthermore, the spareribs were poorly prepared, just barely undercooked. The hamburger, however, was highly recommended.

Finding this café was a real stroke of luck for us! They had delicious drinks and snacks, and the staff was incredibly friendly. We sat in a very cozy corner with sofas. We also loved that there was a shelf with board games. We also noticed that they apparently hold regular painting classes at this café, which we, as creative people, thought was fantastic! Overall, we highly recommend this café.

My favorite spot for coffee and pastries! The fried egg, nachos, and homemade lemonade and iced tea are always amazing too! You can also get a delicious matcha or chai latte here.

We dined here on a Saturday night with five people. First, it took ages for someone to come and take our drink orders. Then, when the menu was handed out, they mentioned that the schnitzel was already gone (at 7:00 PM) and the salmon appetizer was almost gone. My mother ordered the salmon and, after just five minutes, was told it was also sold out. Another five minutes later, they told me the onion soup my father ordered was also sold out. Then, when dessert arrived, it turned out the apple crumble was already sold out. It's incredibly bad for a restaurant, especially on a weekend, to have so many sold out. We also sat at the back of the restaurant, where the staff kept leaving through a sliding door, which meant we were always in a draft. The door wasn't always closed properly, so we were sitting right in the draft. Not recommended!

The food was delicious! The salmon sandwich is especially delicious! If you, like me, have a GBP card, they'll happily halve the portions. A great service, something they don't have to offer, but are open to! Very helpful!

Vanmiddag een flamkuchen besteld. Deze was zo sompig/nat dat deze niet te eten was. Mee laten nemen door de bediening, het enige wat deze dame kon zeggen was " oja ik begrijp het" , nam het eten mee en verder werd er niks gezegd/gevraagd. Na tien minuten wachten zijn we opgestapt, zelf verzocht de flamkuchen van de nota te halen, aangezien deze terug gestuurd was. Betreffende bediening kwam eraan lopen en zei, er word een nieuwe gemaakt.... Had dit gewoon gecommuniceerd/overlegt...

This afternoon we ordered a flambée. It was so soggy/wet that it was inedible. The server took it away, and all this (older) woman could say was "Oh yeah, I understand." She took the food away, and nothing else was said or asked. After waiting ten minutes, we left and even asked to have the flambée removed from the bill, since it had been returned. The server in question came over and said, "They're making a new one..." Should have just communicated/discussed this.

Na lange tijd toch maar eens terugkomen hier, de locatie is gewoon gezellig maar het bedienend (oudere) personeel kan alleen maar op haar apparaat kijken en een goede middag kan er niet af, het was alleen maar bestelling opnemen en weer door, het was er niet druk maar jammer dat het zo onprofessioneel is.

Service : you have to call the personnel to take an order even if they are crossing you 1000 times without nothing in the hands. they will never spontaneously come to you … A old waitress is really not friendly, she brought at our table a wrong drink, we told her and she answered “I don’t know what did you order, and she left” she came 5 min later “was not for you but an other table and she took it back” … The same old waitress, when I asked for the bill it was not possible to have the Bill ticket to check before paying, she told me I have to pay first then I’ll can have the Bill ….i have never seen that all my life in a restaurant Property: the toilet for woman in restaurant is dirty, smell so bad, water everywhere on the floor. All time someone is opening the toilet door all the bad smell is spreading in the restaurant... Not really nice and you are eating.. The table are not cleaned up after departure so when come in you don’t know where to sit because you are not sure if the guests are gone or not .. the floor of the restaurant is full of dust… Food : it s okay Ambiance : like the kids corner that was the positive point !. Maybe an extra small table can be added on this part then 2 small family can share the small space

I regularly visit this Grand Café with friends and family. You can have a delicious bite to eat and drink here for a small price. (Also for vegetarians and vegans) It would be nice if there were changes to the lunch and dinner menus, the chefs can prepare delicious food and yet I am curious about something new. (Unsolicited tip) I always find the staff very friendly (except for a few new ones). I immediately notice when new staff work, because they do not bring the same friendliness and atmosphere as the staff who have been working there for a longer time. Which on the one hand is logical, because people may still "have to" learn that and on the other hand I sometimes find that annoying. Atmosphere determines a lot for me. I think the decoration of this Grand Café is really fantastic! It is a colorful and open tent with beautiful and large plants, nice background music and you can play games here or work on your studies, etc. They also have a very cozy garden where you can enjoy in the summer! This Grand Café has a city feel to me, which I personally really like! You can take orders through the tent employees, but you can also do this (easily) by scanning the QR (located on the table) with your phone camera. What I personally also really like is that the employees don't immediately start breathing down your neck when you just walk in and haven't even been able to take off your coat yet. The only drawback (1 star less) is the name "Sons & Daughters" For the Queer, Trans & Non Binary people among us, this can feel very annoying and not inclusive at all. We are all people and we all feel and identify differently, so I don't think the name is worthy of 2024. Perhaps a nice tip for cocktail lovers; There is Happy Hour every last Friday of the month, with a discount on cocktails!🍸 I end my review with 4 very nice stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Een zogenaamde ‘hidden gem’ in het centrum van Meppel. Het restaurant zelf is ruim opgezet, maar de grote verrassing is de terrastuin aan de achterzijde. Wanneer je naar buiten stapt denk je eerst dat het terras niet zo groot is, maar even linksom de hoek en je stapt de grote stadstuin in met veel gezellige zitplaatsen. Echt een aanrader! En wanneer het eten dan ook nog prima is, dan weet je zeker dat je er nog een keer terug komt.

It looked very promising and the place is also nicely decorated, but we were still disappointed with our lunch. My 11-year-old son ordered pancakes with powdered sugar but only received two small pancakes on a small plate. He came in hungry and left hungry. I went for the quesadilla myself and although it tasted quite good, I thought it was a bit sparse in fillings, and there was 0 garnish on the plate, which made the whole thing look a bit sparse. Still had to pay almost 50 euros for a lunch with two adults and two children, with only 1 drink per person. Not worth repeating for that amount of money.

Wij waren 's morgens naar Meppel gegaan om Sinterklaas inkopen te doen, goed geslaagd en inmiddels ruim na 12 en nog geen koffie gehad. We hadden de inkopen weer in de auto gegaan, nog wat parkeergeld erbij en zagen de achteringang van Sons & Daughters. Dan daar maar koffie en lunch. We liepen over het vanaf de lente vast prachtige terras achter de zaak in, zochten een lekker plekje op de bank en bestelden. Prettige bediening lekkere koffie en ik heb genoten van de flammkuchen met zalm en prei. Mijn lief had een heerlijke flammkuchen met spinazie en ei en we konden lekker delen.

On a chilly Saturday evening we enjoyed some delicious alcoholic refreshments here, the Long Island ice tea is definitely recommended. The atmosphere is warm and homely, enhanced by pleasant, cheerful music (not always, sometimes the music is somewhat sparse). The service is exceptional, the waiter brings your drink with a smile from ear to ear, a young lady named Noé and a young man named Maxander are certainly the standouts here. The prices are quite high, but the service and quality of the refreshments more than compensate for this. Very cozy tent, definitely recommended!

Food is absolutely great, not much choice, but luckily delicious. Service is also absolutely great! Staff is super nice and just wow! Sometimes you have to wait a while until someone comes and asks for your order, it takes a while, but fortunately you have a super cool QR code with which you can order food, which is much faster and 10 times easier!
