Cozy and delicious. My son and I enjoyed the delicious food and friendly service. There are many games and children's activities at the back of the store, which makes lunch with children extra enjoyable.

I regularly visit this Grand Café with friends and family. You can have a delicious bite to eat and drink here for a small price. (Also for vegetarians and vegans) It would be nice if there were changes to the lunch and dinner menus, the chefs can prepare delicious food and yet I am curious about something new. (Unsolicited tip) I always find the staff very friendly (except for a few new ones). I immediately notice when new staff work, because they do not bring the same friendliness and atmosphere as the staff who have been working there for a longer time. Which on the one hand is logical, because people may still "have to" learn that and on the other hand I sometimes find that annoying. Atmosphere determines a lot for me. I think the decoration of this Grand Café is really fantastic! It is a colorful and open tent with beautiful and large plants, nice background music and you can play games here or work on your studies, etc. They also have a very cozy garden where you can enjoy in the summer! This Grand Café has a city feel to me, which I personally really like! You can take orders through the tent employees, but you can also do this (easily) by scanning the QR (located on the table) with your phone camera. What I personally also really like is that the employees don't immediately start breathing down your neck when you just walk in and haven't even been able to take off your coat yet. The only drawback (1 star less) is the name "Sons & Daughters" For the Queer, Trans & Non Binary people among us, this can feel very annoying and not inclusive at all. We are all people and we all feel and identify differently, so I don't think the name is worthy of 2024. Perhaps a nice tip for cocktail lovers; There is Happy Hour every last Friday of the month, with a discount on cocktails!🍸 I end my review with 4 very nice stars! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Een zogenaamde ‘hidden gem’ in het centrum van Meppel. Het restaurant zelf is ruim opgezet, maar de grote verrassing is de terrastuin aan de achterzijde. Wanneer je naar buiten stapt denk je eerst dat het terras niet zo groot is, maar even linksom de hoek en je stapt de grote stadstuin in met veel gezellige zitplaatsen. Echt een aanrader! En wanneer het eten dan ook nog prima is, dan weet je zeker dat je er nog een keer terug komt.

It looked very promising and the place is also nicely decorated, but we were still disappointed with our lunch. My 11-year-old son ordered pancakes with powdered sugar but only received two small pancakes on a small plate. He came in hungry and left hungry. I went for the quesadilla myself and although it tasted quite good, I thought it was a bit sparse in fillings, and there was 0 garnish on the plate, which made the whole thing look a bit sparse. Still had to pay almost 50 euros for a lunch with two adults and two children, with only 1 drink per person. Not worth repeating for that amount of money.

We come here often, but we also went for brunch at Easter. We got a lot for the price, delicious! 1 drink, 1 cup of coffee and a carafe of water were included in the price. Sweet and savory brunch, we only missed some fruit, otherwise everything was perfect!

Nice garden behind the restaurant where you can sit in the sun. Good cocktails. Unfortunately, the snack card is incorrect. We ordered Asian snacks and didn't receive half of them. Asked the waitress, but she reacted strangely and grumpy. Pity. In the end we didn't get what was on the menu. (No mini spring rolls, no wontons and no samosas).

My favorite café in Meppel! super cute furnishings with a beautiful "terrace" at the back where you can sit in warm weather. There are games and you can order your food via the QR code. Feb 14...Wednesday lunchtime. 1st time in your business. 2 ladies serving. It's already quite full, we can pick a spot. Entirely right. Ordered via the app. The girls were very friendly despite the crowds. Kept laughing. They even helped in the kitchen. It just kept going. Compliments to you ladies and chef! The only downside was that the herb butter was still very hard. Furthermore, that's fine and nice that you have spekkoek. We would love to come back for that. 👍👍

Made a very tasty choice regarding the daily menu; a delicious ball sandwich. This big juicy boy was floating in the delicious gravy and was absolutely delicious. Very friendly help. Spacious place to sit. Cappuccino was also fine.

Wij waren 's morgens naar Meppel gegaan om Sinterklaas inkopen te doen, goed geslaagd en inmiddels ruim na 12 en nog geen koffie gehad. We hadden de inkopen weer in de auto gegaan, nog wat parkeergeld erbij en zagen de achteringang van Sons & Daughters. Dan daar maar koffie en lunch. We liepen over het vanaf de lente vast prachtige terras achter de zaak in, zochten een lekker plekje op de bank en bestelden. Prettige bediening lekkere koffie en ik heb genoten van de flammkuchen met zalm en prei. Mijn lief had een heerlijke flammkuchen met spinazie en ei en we konden lekker delen.

On a chilly Saturday evening we enjoyed some delicious alcoholic refreshments here, the Long Island ice tea is definitely recommended. The atmosphere is warm and homely, enhanced by pleasant, cheerful music (not always, sometimes the music is somewhat sparse). The service is exceptional, the waiter brings your drink with a smile from ear to ear, a young lady named Noé and a young man named Maxander are certainly the standouts here. The prices are quite high, but the service and quality of the refreshments more than compensate for this. Very cozy tent, definitely recommended!

Food is absolutely great, not much choice, but luckily delicious. Service is also absolutely great! Staff is super nice and just wow! Sometimes you have to wait a while until someone comes and asks for your order, it takes a while, but fortunately you have a super cool QR code with which you can order food, which is much faster and 10 times easier! Super fun atmosphere to chat with your friends, learn/work and of course enjoy good food! The music here is really great and the games you can grab from the cupboard and play with your friends!! Highly recommended, my favorite place in Meppel.😄

The restaurant used to have a great concept where you could scan a code and order and pay with it. It is inconvenient that you now have to oder and pay with the staff members. Additionally, on the drinking menu there are NO prices which is annoying. Please change back to the old concept to get a 5-star rating! Xoxo

The Cappucino was more coffee than cappucino. That really needs to be improved. The foam layer just wasn't there. The service was friendly.

What a super nice and cute place. We came here for a nice breakfast and the toasties were perfect! Also delicious coffee in combination with too service. What more could one wish for :) I definitely recommend this place if you want to drink coffee somewhere affordable. Unfortunately I don't live in Meppel otherwise this would be my regular spot from now on!

Good food, good price quality ratio.

We only had a drink here. You could order your drink by telephone, which we found very impersonal. First find out how this worked and with an 11 year old it was less fun. You paid immediately. So after drinking we left without speaking to anyone. So I miss the experience. Cappuccino was also not tasty. It was more like a coffee with lots of hot milk in it. Staff were sitting in the front having lunch which I wouldn't want if it was my dining option.

Very nice tent in Meppel with a great terrace garden. There are many international students, so you hear a lot of English. In a medium-sized town like Meppel, I think this is a nice development.

Ate here last weekend with 2 friends, it looks beautiful, especially outside in the garden. You can order drinks via your phone and I think that is very original here in Meppel. However, I thought the food was a little less, I ordered the fried spare ribs for €19.50, which tasted fine, but there was a lot of breadcrumbs, I also got a salad and fries with the salad were fine, only very little dressing and the fries were still half raw. The staff who helped us was very polite. Personally, I thought the ribs were excellent, but the fries were inferior and quite overpriced. The iced coffee with caramel is highly recommended, it was very tasty.

For 4 people and 4 x a full menu, 1 basket of fries and a little salad is very minimal. This was indicated at the operator, but no response. Only when paying is told that this was part of it... Of the three ice cream desserts, one of them turns out not to be of any kind, and we decide to skip the dessert because the other two do not appeal to us. Not a problem in itself, until you hear the waitresses say to each other that we are not nice and that they think it is strange that we don't want anything anymore. This costs their turnover. When they found out that we had heard this, they quickly walked away with red faces, not really nice, so to speak. When asked whether everything was satisfactory at checkout, an honest answer was given that the quality of the food was fine. However, it was somewhat minimalist, little choice and somewhat sparse in explanation. We received a lame excuse/answer that it was busy and that we should come back and that it might be better next time. That can be fine, but you can remain correct and not talk bad things about your customers behind our backs. It can happen that things turn out differently, but then you solve it, do something with it, but not with a weak answer without substance Disappointing experience.

Beautiful restaurant in the center of Meppel. It has a beautiful, attractive, enclosed courtyard with nice seating areas where you can enjoy a meal. The fact that there is ample parking makes it very attractive to visit more often.

You can have a nice lunch here in the garden when the weather is nice. Recommended spicy chicken sandwich. That one is really spicy.

Went to lunch with a friend this afternoon. I ordered a latte, unfortunately it tasted very much like milk and the coffee flavor was lacking. Ordered the food, it took almost half an hour while hardly anyone was there. Also, the people next to us, even though they ordered later, received their food earlier. Finally the food came. Salmon sandwich with cream cheese and avocado. The avocado was not ripe and was cracking hard. The salmon was also strange in texture and hard. The staff was just chatting and did very little else. Last time I was there my chicken was also raw. Been 3 times now, but this was really the last time. It's a nice tent, but that's about it. Oh yes and laughing is free :)

Top place for breakfast, lunch, dinner or drinks. I have now been to Sons & Daughters 3 times and every time it has been just as fun and delicious. Sons & Daughters has a great concept with ordering via QR code, so you can order when it suits you. The decor is modern and cozy, making you feel immediately at home. There are plenty of places to sit comfortably. And there is a games cupboard so you can always have fun. The food is also great! Everything is fresh and tastes good. The breakfast board is definitely recommended to start the day well. The coffee is something to write home about, which is certainly not the case in every restaurant. The staff is super friendly and if possible they are happy to go the extra mile for you. There was a large group just before us, which made our food take a little longer. The employee came to us to report this and offered us a free drink. Great service! We would love to come back to Sons & Daughters!

I recently visited Sons & Daughters and I must say I really enjoyed my lunch there. The spicy chicken sandwich that I ordered was delicious, full of flavor and just spicy enough to tantalize my taste buds and there was plenty of chicken!! My partner had the Dutch lunch platter and it was also very tasty. One of the things I really appreciated about Sons & Daughters was using the QR code on the table to order. It was so convenient and efficient, and it meant I could place my order quickly and receive my food quickly. And as a coffee lover, I was also happy to discover that the coffee there was incredibly tasty - a perfect pick-me-up to start the day. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also very pleasant. It was warm and cozy, and the service was friendly and attentive. I felt really welcome and comfortable during my visit. I will definitely come back to Sons & Daughters for more delicious food and a wonderful experience. All in all highly recommended!

What a disappointment. The ladies in the service were very friendly and helpful, but the food was quite substandard. Chicken quesadillas were cold and had a strange taste and smell. My husband had a Dutch platter, the flavors and quantities were also very substandard. For us it was once and never again!

Thank goodness this café appeared in Meppel, because at least we have something to show to visitors😂. The café is really pleasant, has a nice atmosphere going on (outside in the back for summer😉). The prices are pricy but keep in mind that they opened around the time when everything got expensive🙃. There is a pool table inside and different kind of games to play. The WiFi works💃🏾💃🏾🥳 and you can work in the back on school or do things for your work. Toilets are also nice. It is close to the Action, the station and the supermarkets.💁🏾‍♀️

Wonderful place where you are welcome any time of the day. I have been here twice now and have been more than satisfied both times. Very good price/quality ratio, enough menu options for any time of the day, and delicious food/(hot) drinks. It is also very cozy, not too busy and beautifully decorated. We were also able to play the games that are available for almost an hour while enjoying the cake. The staff is very friendly and behaves pleasantly and politely.

We sit for 15 minutes and staff see us but never came to table to serve. Bad sevice lazy staff. First and last time for us.

I just had a coffee but the coffee tasted rather sour. As the coffee was extremely hot, the only reasons for coffee tasting sour are either too much coffee in the espresso machine, the grind might not be fine enough or the extraction time is too short. Would be good to have the staff taste the coffee once in a while during the day to make sure that all is still functioning correctly.

Nice place to sit. It is possible to have a drink, but apparently it is not possible to order nachos on your own at 6 p.m. In an almost empty shop, every customer seems to me to be one. Anyway, go somewhere else then.

Invited for dinner in this fairly new restaurant in Meppel. It looked pretty neat. Only our places were quite close to the entrance. With the cold this is not a pleasant place. The food was good, but a limited choice. Children had not been considered, because there were no children's dishes on the menu. But this was resolved. Serving the dishes took a while. Removing the dishes also took quite a while. We also had to ask for the menu for the desserts ourselves. It took a long time to take the order, so we decided not to order anything anymore and pay. So you could not speak of attentive service. So there is still some room for improvement here!

Had dinner tonight with colleagues on the occasion of retirement. Unfortunately the food was lukewarm/cold. We had to wait a long time for additional food to arrive, which was also not very warm, no serving spoons, we were rarely asked if we wanted anything else to drink, desserts were not great... All in all a bad first, but also last experience with Sons and Daughters. The ambiance was good. Good atmosphere. The food also looked good, but unfortunately not warm.
