Ristorante La Gioia in Centrum

We had been to the "old Prestige" at Zuideinde several times, and it was always a great place to be. Had dinner at Prestige last night at the new location. Really great place! The owner happened to be outside, where we were welcomed very friendly. But once inside... the appearance, the atmosphere; how beautiful! It really invites you to take a seat in the restaurant! Fortunately, there are no more lounge benches or high tables, like in the "old" restaurant, but only nice tables and chairs. The menu is clear, varied and indeed seems slightly shortened compared to before. But that's been a general trend in the hospitality industry over the last few years. But the menu can certainly not be called "sparse"; there is enough choice to enjoy a delicious meal for a few hours. The quality of the dishes is very good! A true taste experience again and again. The service was extremely friendly, polite and correct. Worthy of compliment! Everything works just as usual at Prestige. The familiar concept of yesteryear was well appreciated by guests; namely simply order via the service, and no hassle via tablets or telephone. And the owner understood that very well! The price level, the quality of the food and the service are all nicely balanced. Highly recommended. We will be back!

Good food, nice and friendly staff.

We got this for almost €100: We ordered a bottle of wine, which was no longer in stock. Another wine chosen, put bottle of wine and glasses on the table, do not open or pour. Starter finished, 5 minutes later my partner gets his main course! I watch and wait... 5 minutes later I get my main course. They don't use salt and pepper in the kitchen here. A good bolognese sauce wouldn't be that difficult to make, I don't recommend it. Final conclusion, once way too expensive without service and never again!

Nice meal My visit to La Gioia was fantastic. The pizza is a real treat, with a crispy crust and rich, flavorful toppings. I chose the salami pizza, which was perfectly balanced with fresh tomato sauce, creamy mozzarella and spicy salami. The staff are friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere in the restaurant is warm and inviting. For anyone who loves authentic pizza, la Gioia is an absolute must.

We had a very delicious meal at this Italian restaurant. Beautiful modern but attractive decor. Very attentive and friendly service. As a starter, a Caprese salad with extra balsamic vinegar that the owner came by with, a very tasty addition. Then a well-filled and delicious Pizza Quattro Stagioni. Enjoyed the homemade tiramisu for dessert. The house Limoncello was also included. Definitely come back soon.

We ate delicious pizzas. We arrived spontaneously and fortunately there was still room on the Friday evening. Friendly welcome. My pizza was not too salty as is often the case. Just pure flavors and a perfectly baked base. A jug of water on the table was no problem. Nice spacious tables and space to sit. Beautiful decoration of the restaurant. In our opinion, highly recommended!

Went here for a 3-course dinner via Social Deal. Friendly reception. Delicious food here. We had to wait a while for the main course, but it was definitely worth it.

Poor service takes a very long time for people with allergies you don't have to come here and the food is tasteless

March 2024. Ordered salmon/tomato pizza. The tomato could not be found. It was a white bottom that was not warm. Everything was dripping with oil. The owner was called and he took it away and indicated that it did not have to be paid. However, you can simply pay the full price at the cash register. The pizza with spicy salami was okay but not great. We won't be coming back here.

Food was mediocre. Risotto was hardly surprising. Shrimp were dry. No, not worth repeating for us.

Have pizza delivered but it's terribly bad. Very little toppings! Even dominos is better! The Pizza special with salmon is absolutely worth crying over (see photo). You get a dry bottom on which salmon pieces (from a package from the supermarket?) are fluttered on top with lots of arugula on top. Decoration is missing, taste is missing and with a pizza you can at least expect sauce on the pizza instead of a dry mess.... I would like my 34 euros back!

Delicious pizza! As if we were in Italy, I have never had them this good in the Netherlands. Furthermore, a nice atmosphere and the limoncello was delicious.

What an asset for Meppel! Young and enthusiastic owner knows his trade, real hospitality. Restaurant tastefully decorated (those lights on the tables!). Excellent pizzas and the tenderloin was wonderfully tender. We will definitely come back here.

The pizza itself was tasty, the restearant looked nice inside. Only, there was a hair in my pizza, passed it on to the waitress and she said she would pass it on to her boss. When we left, I spoke to the "boss" about it, he didn't know anything about it. Nothing else is done with it, the only thing that is said is that no one works with blonde hair and so the blame was actually placed on myself. So I don't recommend this place, never again. Nice day.

Not good. Very small portions. Main course just like dessert. Waited a very long time for the food even though it wasn't busy at all. And you no longer get the much-praised limoncello. The food was tasty.

Rarely have I had such a bad experience in a restaurant. Bizarre prices for some dishes when you look at what they serve. 2 simple slices of bruschetta, €6.50. Another example, €7 for a slice of zucchini, 2 slices of eggplant, a piece of onion, and a strip of pepper. But hey, we live in an expensive world right now. Now things went wrong for a group of 7. Forgot 2 main courses (pasta). I indicated several times that it was coming, but it took and took... The rest were almost finished with their main course. The staff did offer an apology and a bottle of wine, but that won't save the evening. When the food was finally served, it turned out to be undercooked. Once for me but never again!

The food is average. We ordered three different pizzas. All tasted like margherita. The plate of antipasto with cheese and ham was supermarket quality too. The service was nice but they brought the pizzas only luke warm.

Delicious food, friendly service and a super homemade Tiramisu! To finish, a delicious espresso. Recommended for espresso lovers. And to end it all nicely, we received a delicious Limoncello/Limoncino on the house. Thank you for a nice evening.

I ate a delicious pizza here at La Gioia! Helped by a very friendly lady serving, with matching Italian red wine. Tastefully decorated restaurant. All in all an asset for Meppel.

Had delicious dishes. Beautiful starter platter, a good artisanal pizza and a delicious chocolate mousse! The inside of the restaurant is tastefully and modernly decorated. Highly recommended for lovers of Italian food!

Food was mediocre. There were few customers but the main course took a very long time to be served. That started with cold potatoes, fries and cold vegetables, there also turned out to be a bowl of vegetables that was insufficient, which was neatly repaired but too late. After these dishes it took 5-10 minutes before the main course was served. The sauce served with the meat was just warm and not all mushrooms were warm/hot. In short, a big disappointment, especially for the prices charged. Small compensation was that we were given a glass of limoncello

This is highly recommended. Nicely decorated and friendly staff. Today I wanted a pizza for our 11th wedding anniversary haha! And it worked. I will definitely come back here. Next time I'll have to order a whole pizza for the youngest 😅

Price-quality, the tenderloin is too expensive for what it is. And you still have to order fries yourself. The fries arrive half cold and well-fried they still arrive half red.

La Gioia is a new restaurant in Meppel. We love Italian cuisine, so we are curious. Staff and service are really great! The menu is surprising and inviting. There is still room for improvement in terms of preparation. But hey, a good 4 for a first time in a new restaurant is certainly not bad and leaves room for improvement. Very good restaurant in the heart of Meppel. Delicious food, so good that I am now there for the 2nd day in a row. Beef tenderloin with orange is highly recommended! Beautiful wines and a good range of everything Italy has to offer.
