Grand Cafe Winston Restaurant in Wijk 10 Binnenstad

We had to wait over 45 minutes for our drinks to be brought to us. We even mentioned that we wanted to order something else, but nothing was done about it. We also ordered two "uitsmijter" (fried eggs with ham and one without), because one of us can't eat ham. When the food was served, they didn't tell us which one had ham. We were also seated at a table that was completely dirty, with an empty salt mill and no drinks menu. All in all, it was a very bad experience.

We always enjoy coming here. Outside on the terrace when the weather is nice, or inside on colder days. The service is quick and friendly.

This used to be the place to be for loaded fries, but after several visits in recent months, the recipe changes each time we've been. A huge disappointment. Addition: the kitchen staff went out for a smoke and came back in without washing their hands, immediately starting to eat again.

This is the only place we go in hoorn because we are in love with their loaded fries. Last couple of months they changed the recipe 3 times. In mid november was best. Today we visited again and.probably last time we will do that. Our family weekends tradition there is over. It came very bad. Smushy french fries, very bad taste. Kids also got fries and they were so soft like made long time ago. Most importantly we saw kitchen personnel went for smoking and before washing hands he just started touching food! It was big disappointment. I hope they will make things correct again and we can enjoy our family weekends there with our favorite food again.

After waiting half an hour for the menu, without being spoken to, I got up and left. The restaurant was very quiet.

They'll undoubtedly do their best, that's what they say. But you have to be incredibly patient. Better to keep going.

A very cozy establishment, both in winter and especially in summer. The atmosphere is great, the staff is always friendly, and the food is always hot. From the café, you have a beautiful view of the square. A great place for a bite to eat and a drink. Highly recommended 👍. Today we were surprised by waiter Hassan—this man performs his duties to 10,000%, truly top-notch! He deserves a bonus! I've been to this restaurant over 10 times and have no complaints whatsoever!

Quite a nice and charming restaurant or bistro. Excellent service. The mixed snacks and nagios cheese were delicious, more than enough.

What slow service! Want to have a few beers with the guys on the patio, and after two hours of sitting there, you can only have three. I feel a bit sorry for Winston, because they're missing out on so much revenue.

Lovely, relaxed atmosphere, friendly service. It's just strange that you're practically forced to pay and leave if you indicate you don't want to order anything else (even though the terrace is practically empty, which I understand if it's full). But it's still highly recommended: good coffee, amazing nachos.

It was quite busy during the fair, which is good for business. Unfortunately, the staff just couldn't handle it. We ordered drinks and snacks. The drinks arrived fairly quickly, but we had to wait a very long time for our snacks and cheese soufflés, while other people who sat down later than us received them first. A real shame. The menu also doesn't state how many snacks you get.

Nice terrace at Statencollege on Rodesteen Square. I had a pork belly sandwich and a chicken panini. It was delicious. It looked fantastic.

Lovely terrace with plenty of seating. Friendly staff with reasonably quick service. I ordered the carpaccio salad and specifically requested it WITHOUT tomatoes. According to the staff, it didn't contain any tomatoes. Once the salad was on the table, it turned out that at least 200 grams of tomato had been hidden under the carpaccio. It was as if extra tomato had been added when I requested it WITHOUT tomatoes. After dissecting the salad, it turned out to consist mainly of large chunks of red onion, some lettuce, and a lot of "liquid"/oil. Little flavor and poor value for money. People with specific preferences and allergies: make sure your preferences are properly executed! Don't blindly assume it will be!

A highly addictive spicy chicken with bread or fries. We come here about every three weeks for this dish.

Service was very fast. Great food, a friend enjoyed the salad with fish and my flat Iron steak was tender, juicy and well medium rare.

The hot chicken is highly recommended. I have never eaten such delicious hot chicken, divinely delicious!

We ordered a capaccio meal salad. Price quality not in proportion. Lots of lettuce and onion. Little tomato and hardly any pine nuts. No bread or anything like that with it. It did not take away the hunger. But 16 euros.

Nice spot with a view of the statue of Jan Pieterz Coen. It took a while for your order to be taken, even though there were a lot of staff around. With the 2nd order, within 5 minutes, we were asked twice more if we wanted something to drink..... by the same person who had taken the 2nd order????? Nevertheless, it's a chill place.

I don't understand some of the reviews, I always get a lot of food for little compared to other restaurants.

Great place dog friendly too. But it’s all about the food when jacks out. Well had a Flat iorn steak with chips. The steak melted in the mouth and the sauce was divine with onions mushrooms and red wine I think. Pudding was also good. Well worth a visit

If you’re looking for a place for a quick drink, I would recommend it. But if you’re looking for a bite, stay away. The food is horrendous. We got a burger and a sandwich and both were awful. The presentation was ok, but they used the wrong patty for the burger and they added way too much sauce so you can’t taste anything else. Service was really good once we sat down. It took them a while to realise that we were waiting to be seated.

Tasty lunch in a cozy restaurant. Friendly service and everything went smoothly. Enjoyed a delicious lunch. The hot chicken with bread is highly recommended. Well filled and indeed tasty and spicy. Not overpowering but just tasty. The spicy chicken is also a good combination with loaded fries. Definitely worth a try.

Great terrace. Nice and full in the winter sun.... First a cup of coffee and mint tea, rubbish for women, then fries with parmesan cheese, delicious! Wife had an onion soup, which was a bit less, too thick and no broth. It was nice to have the fries again 😁 To top it off, a nice glass of Roija wine and continued walking. Oh yes... Nice girl at the counter, cheerful and genuinely attentive.

Never again will I go here. Ordered a pulled chicken panini because after asking what I could do given my allergies, I was allowed the paninis and 3 other sandwiches. After indicating that the sandwich tasted like old fat/frying because I got fried chicken on bread, they did nothing except a lame excuse. I felt nauseous, but I went home and moved the day out with my partner early and had to say stop. Phew, I still feel bad 3 hours later. The allergenic things have probably not yet been properly examined

Smakeloos en taai. De pasta was echt niet lekker en de kip was smakeloos. We moesten zelf kruiden toevoegen voor een beetje smaak.

There’s improvement needed for the food and it’s a bit pricey compared to quality. However, service is good. Staff are friendly.

The wait staff was clearly inexperienced. At least in this cafe. But they did their best, that was clear. As for the food: the taste was fine, nicely seasoned, we have no complaints about that. But the chicken pieces were generally too dry, which is a shame.

Niet naar toe gaan!!!! Bakje friet moet je delen met je vrienden want je krijgt geen eigen friet bij je bestelling. Ik moest bijna 20 euro betalen voor 1 sate stokje. En de rekening klopte niet. 46 euro te veel op de rekening van gerechten en drankjes die we niet besteld hadden. Gelukkig kwamen we er bijtijds achter en hebben we ons geld terug gevraagd. De ober zei dat er per ongeluk een fout gemaakt was. jaja..

Lovely terrace, delicious Aperol Spritz and a well-stocked drinks board to share. Almost all of the worse reviews of this cafe are because of the mediocre dinner, so we skipped that. But a great cafe for a drink on the terrace.

Our regular spot for a terrace. Whether it's for lunch or a drink in the evening, it's always fun here. In bad weather with a heater and blanket. Very nice staff. 5 stars from me.

Cozy sitting in the old center of Hoorn

Had a drink on Tuesday evening after dinner at La Guapa. On Wednesday we wanted to eat at another restaurant but ended up at Winston's, which was delicious!

No, not recommended. There was 1 experienced employee, unfortunately he just got a break when we ordered food. After more than 1.5 hours we received dry chicken satay and fries.

Long wait to contact service. This despite this seeing us when we sat down. Still, first help others who arrived much later. Also no contact at checkout and had to go inside to pay.

Ordered 2 croquettes with bread. According to the menu including a small salad. To my surprise, the salad turns out to consist of a few (small) leaves of lettuce and 1 slice of tomato. When asking the staff, this appears to be correct. My partner's omelette came with no garnish (or small in their words, small salad). The croquettes were tasty and the bread was fresh as was the omelette.

We enjoyed coffee and cake together with the duo bike under the awning (because it was raining). Super friendly help, really warm welcome; even the patio heating was turned on for us. Thank you! Lia and Gery.

Cozy atmosphere and friendly staff. Due to the mostly wooden interior, it is difficult to say whether it is very clean. Normally quite a struggle with restaurants with a "pub bar" but the staff were friendly and helpful. The loaded fries with pulled pork tasted fresh, seasoned and was a generous lunch.

Food, service, everything perfect, but what dull knives... a struggle to cut my bread. My friends also turned out to have experienced the same thing afterwards.

I come here often, but today I think was the last time. First the person I was with got a hair gift with her croquette sandwich. We indicated and the waiter apologized and she got a new one. We looked in the kitchen. One of the chefs was eating there. Licked his fingers and then continued preparing food without washing his hands. My healthy sandwich was delicious by the way, a bit much for me to eat it all. But after the hair and the cook, my appetite was gone.

Beautiful shop on THE square of the VOC city of Hoorn, "De Rode Steen". We like to visit Winston, both on the terrace and inside. Always good food, tasty pastries and excellent service. In short, a nice place to stay.

Een van weinige cafes waar je maandag ochtend een terrasje kan pakken.

Wij waren even in Hoorn om het historische centrum en de haven te bekijken. Op het plein even hier gezeten voor een drankje. Het was heerlijk weer dus buiten op het ruime terras gezeten. De bediening is vriendelijk en vlot maar niet opdringerig. De espresso smaakt prima en de IceT was een flink glas vol (met veel ijs).

Plaats binnen, groot terras buiten. Heerlijke hamburger voor lunch. Hij was op voordat ik een foto kon maken...

Cappuccino besteld Er was wat over de rand gegaan bij het vervoer. Dit werd later opgemerkt door de medewerker die het gebracht had. Hij wilde zonder probleem een nieuwe brengen. Waar vind je dat nog? We bestelden ook kip yakitori spiesjes, lekker van smaak, maar mag volgende keer iets warmer.

Dinsdag 20 juni mocht ik in het restaurant oude boeken en handschriften taxeren voor het publiek. Alle lof voor het vriendelijke personeel. Leuke ontvangst en de bezoekers waren allemaal zeer tevreden. Zaterdag 23 december hoop ik weer terug te komen.

Super lekkere lunch gehad! Gezellig zitten. Fijne bediening, fijne kaart met genoeg keuze.

Even neergestreken voor een bakkie koffie en ja als je gebak hebt van Holtkamp is het al gauw goed natuurlijk. Het was ook erg lekker weer wat ook veel doet met je beleving maar al met al een leuk tentje waar ik zeker een keer wil eten.

Lekker eten, aardig personeel gewoon terrasje

Het eten was echt heerlijk en smaakte echt goed, het zag er ook echt lekker uit. De bediening is ook erg snel en het eten kwam dus snel aan. Het personeel is ook heel erg vriendelijk en dat is echt gewoon top. Zeker een aanrader om een keer te gaan eten.

Gezellige plek voor een hapje en een drankje, vriendelijk personeel.
