Deventer's only Christian student association, CHBOV Pro Deo, had turned 33. Hans en Grietje had the honor of hosting the joyous gala to celebrate this milestone. The owner was very flexible, and we were able to organize everything according to our own wishes. Whenever necessary, the venue was very helpful in finding solutions. Naturally, we greatly appreciated this. Hans en Grietje is an atmospheric venue in the beautiful historic center of Deventer. It is certainly highly recommended for you to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a first-class red wine if you ever find yourself in the magnificent center of the one and only Deventer. We had a delicious meal with super friendly staff. We went for lunch and immediately made a reservation for dinner. Highly recommended if you are in the area!

Disappointment Don't go there. Seriously, in 2026 you really expect better. I got a sandwich that looked terrible: the bread wasn't fresh and the filling tasted stale. The apple was brown and tasteless. The fries seemed to have been re-fried several times, rock hard, and truly inedible. The croquettes were also incredibly greasy. Additionally, the service was downright bad. I really don't understand how anyone dares to serve this in a restaurant these days. Very disappointing experience.

Annoying: the kitchen is only open until 5:00 PM and there is a private party upstairs! Okay, then we’ll sit in the conservatory and order a bit faster. Anyway, at 5:30 PM several tables in the upper section are full (where we weren't allowed to sit) and the table opposite us just ordered food at 5:45 PM, which was served around 6:00 PM! That makes you feel somewhat ripped off. The food was tasty, just a shame they forgot the salad for us too. Next time we’ll have to look for something else in Deventer 🥴

The cleanest restroom I have ever been to. Almost all hospitality establishments fall short in that regard. This place absolutely does not!

We had a delicious Hansel and Gretel sandwich this afternoon (TopBroodjes). We were able to recharge our batteries while we ate. That way, we could head back home to Bronkhorst. We had a good meal and our batteries are fully charged. See you next time.

Had a delicious meal today at Hans en Grietje in Deventer! 🍴 From starter to dessert, everything was top-notch – and there is a really wide selection, so there is something for everyone. Also a compliment for the service: we were served by a cheerful and nice young man who made it a real treat! 👌 Nowadays you are quick to see negative reviews online, but this is exactly the kind of place you want to say something positive about. Highly recommended!

We had a lovely lunch; we were lucky that a table had just opened up. Lunchtime is always busy in Deventer. They have an extensive lunch menu. The flammkuchen was on the drinks and appetizers menu. Service was friendly and fast.

Friendly service: we had coffee and pastries, then walked 12 km through and around Deventer, and after returning, we had schnitzel and fries. We even got a free soup beforehand. That's what good service is, isn't it?

Even on a super busy evening, the service was still excellent; despite the crowd, we weren't forgotten! The lady on the terrace had everything completely under control. The food was good, hot, and delicious.

A nice and cozy place in Deventer. The staff took the time to think along with us and gave good advice: the German burger would be a better choice than the American one. It turned out to be a hit – a delicious burger, well-seasoned and beautifully prepared. It was great to receive such friendly service and go home with a delicious lunch.

Lovely restaurant, large, with a terrace and conservatory, as well as inside. Fast service. Coloring sheet and gift for children. Children's menu and high chairs. Very generous portions and not too expensive.

We had a surprisingly delicious meal with a wonderful mustard soup. I'd put it in my top 3, and I've already had a few. The portions are generous; the children's ice cream is even quite generous and very tasty with all the variations on the plate. It was busy at lunchtime, so sometimes it took a little longer. Nicely centrally located on the square, easily accessible after our visit to the toy museum. Our granddaughter was thrilled to get a surprise from the treasure chest. She was busy with it on the way home.

What a gem this restaurant/cafe is! The restaurant may look a bit old-fashioned/simple, but it's still worth a visit. We had lunch here and tried everything: I had the carpaccio salad, while everyone else had soup, a sandwich, a burger, and croquettes. All of this came with delicious country bread (white or brown) and/or deliciously seasoned fries. The staff was prompt, polite, and very friendly. I will definitely recommend this to friends!

Delicious, well-filled salad with freshly baked bread. I think it would be even better with whole wheat bread and a bit less dressing. The coffee is excellent, and the atmosphere is casual, café-like. There's also plenty of room inside if the terrace is full. The price-quality ratio is excellent.

Here you can sit outside with a view of the city scales and the market square. Friendly service, good fries, and cold drinks. The interior is reached via three or four steps. A nice bar and dark wood furnishings. Clean restrooms.

Very nice place to sit down for a drink or lunch. From the outside you can't see how much space they have inside. You are also helped in a friendly way, there are quite a few steps and we had 2 strollers and they also helped with lifting. That surprised me positively. The only downside is that it is not really wheelchair accessible.

Today we sat down at the terrace of Hans en Grietje. We were helped in a friendly way – the staff was attentive and helpful, which we certainly appreciated. We ordered a piece of cheesecake and coffee. The cheesecake tasted good, really good. The coffee, on the other hand, was a bit disappointing. It wasn’t bad, but not really good either – in my opinion on the mediocre side. All in all a great place to sit for a while, especially because of the friendly service. The coffee could be improved a bit, but the cake made it worth it.

Dinner Smurf and Peat is not tenderloin but tough steak and the shrimp were tough. Layers on the steak instead of nice and crispy. Don't come here again.

Last week we enjoyed our lunch in the sun on Hansel and Gretel's terrace. Friendly staff, very quick service and the food was delicious!

Wij zijn hier gekomen om een leuke avond uiteten te hebben. Eindstand onze orders opgenomen en een uur gewacht, hierop hebben wij een medewerker aangesproken om te vragen hoe ver het eten al was. Het antwoord hierop was oh sorry er is iets misgegaan met het opnemen van de bestelling. We hebben ervoor gekozen om het van het huis te laten komen. Voor ons hoefde het eigenlijk al niet meer maar toch maar gedaan uit beleefdheid dus ook niet hoeven te betalen. Het zou inderdaad kunnen dat er een miscommunicatie is geweest maar wij hadden vooral het gevoel dat we een beetje gekleineerd werden door het personeel Vandaar helaas 1 ster moeten geven

A restaurant with a spacious layout and tables where you can place something, feels like a relaxed atmosphere and you can hear each other without having to drown out. Sufficient options on the menu and the service is quick.

Currently has insufficient experienced staff. The supposedly experienced person who has to take the order has no overview and is not exactly customer friendly.

A company is always as goods as its’ staff. Though I have been here multiple times, today I need mention that service level on a Friday at 1pm has been better. This is a tough one because we were serviced by three different people in staff. Where two are fairly okay, the other serving drinks, without saying too much displayed utter “could care less” attitude. I do hope management will work on this as good as possible, will make this place better again.

Dit is een leuke zaak aan De Brink. De koffie met Deventer bijtjes en het gebak was lekker. De bediening was vriendelijk.

Had a salad, nice portion, especially the steak was very well cooked. Super tender. The Caesar could have been a bit more exciting, it had crispy chicken lettuce and 2 sun-dried tomatoes.

We had a few drinks but we are a bit disappointed. €1 extra for fake whipped cream and mediocre chocolate milk. The chai was also full of cinnamon powder lumps. Waste of money. #no-slay💅🏻

Today we had a delicious lunch at Hans and Grietje's. Very nice and fast service, you don't see that much these days. Took the time for you and the food was delicious. To start, we first had a hot chocolate, which looked very nice with mini marshmallows on top of the whipped cream. Then we enjoyed a delicious pancake with bacon and a hamburger. If we are ever in Deventer again we will definitely come back!

Bij Hans en Grietje hebben we heerlijk gedineerd, de mensen zijn uitermate vriendelijk en het eten is voortreffelijk. Mochten we ooit weer in Deventer komen dan gaan we er weer heen!

Een goed adres voor lekker eten. Het personeel is erg vriendelijk. Het is belangrijk om van te voren te reserveren. Het is er nogal druk.

Op 22 november ‘s avonds bezochten wij met 4 personen vanaf 19:00 Hans en Grietje. Van te voren via de mail gereserveerd en een plekje gevraagd aan de raamzijde. Wat schetst mijn verbazing: dat plekje was precies zo gereserveerd! Wij kwamen uit het Amsterdamse en daar in de omgeving probeer je zo te reserveren en dan gaat dat heel vaak mis. Hier dus top geregeld; een pluim! Wat ook top geregeld is, dat 1 dezelfde tafelserveerster de hele avond dezelfde (onze tafel) bediende! Helemaal top ook weer. In veel restaurants komt dan de ene en dan weer een andere langs; waardoor vaak ook veel miscommunicatie ontstaat. Hier ook weer een pluim! De derde pluim is voor de serveerster zelf die onze tafel werkelijk Uitstekend bediende! Preventief zorgde er steeds voor dat wij voldoende water op tafel hadden (naast de prima rode Merlot wijn). En dat alles op een zeer prettige en vriendelijke manier geserveerd. Ook het eten was top; alles goed warm geserveerd en prima, meer dan voldoende hoeveelheid! Een zeer geslaagde avond en veel dank aan uw organisate EN de vriendelijke medewerkers! Ga zo door; zeer aan te bevelen!!
