Worst Food quality and taste.. ordered Chicken Madrasi and Prawns . Chicken was explosive hot , no taste or flavour..just heat, oil and red colour. Prawns is bland and coated in red colour. I will never recommend the restaurant . They have to understand that Indian cuisine shall be rich in flavour but not soaked in colour which is emitting pure heat.

Had a delicious meal, refined flavors

Unfortunately, our experience at Kohinoor was quite disappointing. The meat had a strange and unpleasant smell and taste. It reminded us of the typical smell lamb can sometimes have, but in this case, we found it absolutely unpleasant. Additionally, the meat was quite tough, difficult to cut, and certainly not as tender as we had expected. We also found the portions to be on the small side, especially considering the price of €20.95. For that amount, we had expected more, both in terms of quality and quantity. Furthermore, it was incredibly hot inside. It felt almost as if you were sitting right in the kitchen with the chef. Unfortunately, this made the dining experience even less pleasant. What also disappointed us was the bill. One bottle of drink had been charged too much. After discussing this, it was eventually corrected. In the end, we even received €0.50 more back, but it remains a shame that we had to point this out ourselves and that a discussion ensued. All in all, we were not satisfied with our meal and the overall experience. We hope that this was a one-time experience and that attention is paid to the quality of the meat, the portion size, the indoor temperature, and the careful checking of the bill.

The rice was not included, and it arrived at 8:00 PM while I had requested it at 7:00 PM. The owner even got into an argument over the delivery person's phone about whether it was true that the rice wasn't included. As if I would lie for an extra container of rice.

I picked up a Channah Masala. I got bone-dry chickpeas in a korma sauce. Unbearable! The lady on the phone speaks broken English herself and doesn't understand what you're saying. I always came here and gave 5 stars. But now..... awful. Last time for me.

The food was delicious. The service was friendly, but somewhat rushed and hurried. My partner received rice with her dish, even though she had ordered something else. It turned out afterwards that it was not possible to pay with VISA. This was not clearly indicated anywhere.

Had a veggie Thali dish. What tasteless dishes! None of the dishes were authentic at all.

If I may be honest for a moment, if you like curry I say… yes, go for it! And if you don't mind the meat being tough… I say go for it too! And also go for it if you don't mind the soup being bland. So if you generally don't mind having some “unusual” flavors and textures together… just do it! And then it is also a great place to sit outside for a while and just look around. The butter chicken is highly recommended!

If you don't like coriander, don't go to the buffet on Thursday. I found the buffet disappointing as well.

Ruin your Valentine's Day here. With a clumsy spot next to the entrance, you can enjoy the company of the other 10-12 guests who have reservations but are unable to accommodate them. Enjoy your drinks because it will be another hour before you can order. Speak to the staff, who then say "sorry" and walk away while you're talking to them. After an hour and a half, the appetizer starts. My first and last visit.

Had a delicious meal in a beautiful restaurant

We had the food delivered. We had to wait 40 minutes for it. It arrived promptly. It was delicious. It was just a shame the lamb was still too spicy. I had said I wanted everything mild, so not spicy. Both the lamb and chicken dishes were supposed to be made mild especially for me. The chicken dish was really delicious, mild, a bit sweet, definitely worth it. It looked like it had mango in it, quite tasty. It was in a yellow sauce or curry. Delicious fresh naan bread was included. And a tasty large, crispy papedum (it's a bit like prawn crackers, but without the shrimp flavor, but also a bit like salty chips, but very large and thin). I always find that very delicious. We got a bowl of basmati rice with a bit of orange rice mixed in. Also very tasty. And we got a fresh salad (iceberg lettuce, tomato, cucumber, and a slice of lemon). I ordered for two people, and it was plenty, just the right amount. We had another delicious meal tonight. We arrived a little late because the parking garage was full, but that wasn't a problem at all. The service is very friendly and the food is delicious! The atmosphere is also great. Indian food has never disappointed us, but they usually aren't as cozy as this one. Highly recommended.

Fantastic restaurant, very versatile menu, and excellent service

Delicious Indian food. Friendly service and a fairly extensive menu with all sorts of delicious spicy dishes and good curries. The building is beautiful, though the interior is a bit dated, but it still has a nice atmosphere. We were here for the first time and will definitely be back.

Large groups are too cramped at the table and the food is good, lots of variety, service could be faster, plates could be collected faster, for two or more people this restaurant has good food but not for large groups (20)

This "Mountain of Light" is, by the way, the name of a precious stone, and Indian food is noble. What's so special about Indian food? Well, it's very light and digestible, and doesn't sit like a brick in your stomach. So, if you're looking for an alternative to McDonald's & Co.KG, ARUSH is the place to be. Finally, I have to make one more urgent point! Eating out is great, but it's not essential. The only food that's essential to life is food that comes from the LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS ​​CHRIST. Believe me, that's the most important food there is. Anyone who doesn't "eat" this dish will remember with tears in their eyes the time they spent in the KOHINNOR OF INDIA, sitting in hell for not accepting the offer of the LORD AND SAVIOR JESUS ​​CHRIST. I visited this restaurant hoping for a warm experience and some good Indian food, but was deeply disappointed. As an Indian myself, I greeted one of the staff with a smile, saying “Kaise ho bhai, kahan se ho?” (How are you, brother? Where are you from?) only to get a dismissive reply “Does it matter” I came here expecting a sense of community, but instead found rudeness and an unwelcoming attitude. On top of that, the food was far from good. I would never return and I can’t recommend this place to anyone.

We ordered takeout from here once (not that long ago). It took a bit of time, but the food arrived warm. Overall the food was average, except the chicken curry which was really tasty. The second time, we dined in as we were in the area. We both had chicken dishes, they were flavourful and the portions were filling. Our food arrived quickly. The staff were polite but not particularly friendly, just somewhere in between.

Don't expect top-notch Indian food. The naan bread is fine, everything else is very average. The dal soup was thin and too sour due to an overabundance of lemon. The service was disinterested, and the beer pump hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Not good enough.

2 hours for delivering cold food

Waiters are very unfriendly, doesn’t smile at all. Kebab were dry and food was very disappointing. They served hot water for tea without tea bags. Good quality was not good. Terrible experience

Uiteten willen gaan ging niet zoals gepland. Het restaurant wat we wilden bezoeken lag pal tegenover een drukke kermis. Zodoende gezocht naar enkele opties op het Boreelplein maar deze waren ook niet mogelijk (verbouwing en helemaal volgeboekt) Zodoende kwamen we onverwachts terecht bij Kohinoor Deventer. Heerlijk gegeten, vriendelijk personeel. Aanraders: de mango lassi, murgh shahi kurma en kulfi (Indiaas ijs op basis van melk, mango en pistache. Complimenten aan de koks. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

Once, but never again! We ordered our food at 6:00 PM, but only got the starter at 7:15 PM — and that after asking three times. The price-quality ratio is also disappointing. All in all: no second time for us.

The food was always great, until now. My husband has been coming here for years. We had made a reservation on May 31, 2025 at 5:30 PM, at 6:15 PM we got our starter. The main course was still not there at 7:15 PM, when we asked (because people who came an hour later already went home with a full stomach) we were treated downright rudely, I have never experienced this anywhere. Unfortunately we even felt unsafe! This cannot be the intention, unfortunately never again!

A restaurant I've walked past my whole life, but never been inside. On Thursdays there is always a buffet for a fixed price. Well, what is it? In short: tasty! There was enough choice and it was also clearly food from the Indian kitchen. The staff is also completely fine. There are vegetarian options, but there is also a lot of chicken and lamb (very tasty). I certainly thought it was worth it, but I also had good company and sat with an evening sun. I don't think reservations are often necessary, so it can be very spontaneous. Go there on a Thursday!

Great food, been there twice now but really tasty. The decoration of the restaurant could be better and more cozy.

Appetizer: raw mushrooms, second time also when we said something about it the first time….Not tasty in short. My pumpkin thali was also nothing. The pumpkin was cooked waaaaay too long, raw carrot in the rice that didn't taste fresh anymore.. In short, big disappointment. Good: The tea, the naan bread, and my company liked their lamb tikka.

I felt like I was in India. Friendly, genuinely cool people took care of our making times and they moved skillfully between all the tables and occupied chairs. Tasty, cozy and a feeling of freedom.

Tonight, 2/14, I placed an order via home delivery, namely: Main course: Vegetarian kurma and murgh sagwalla. This was delivered without the basmati rice. Fortunately, we had also ordered 2 extra rice, which was delivered. The two main dishes were floating in the liquid. The murgh sagwalla contained frozen spinach and dry chicken parts, not the purchased fresh spinach and fresh herbs and ginger. The vegetarian kurma contained undercooked glassy potatoes and frozen green beans and peas. So not cashew nuts, raisins and fresh coriander. We were very dissatisfied with this, especially considering the price, and immediately contacted us by telephone. The employee only knew that these were the standard sizes of the containers. And had nothing further to add. The dishes were tasteless and very substandard. You cannot offer this as a restaurant. And there was no service at all, even though we paid more than 40 euros for this on Valentine's Day... We look forward to your solution. Thank you in advance.

Just very tasty and good atmosphere

The food was fine, nothing special. If you want water, you will immediately get the largest bottle. In terms of atmosphere, the staff were talking loudly in the kitchen and laughing, very disturbing when you were sitting there. It bothered us enormously. This is also the last time I come here. The seats were also not really comfortable too stiff.

When we arrived here we were warmly welcomed and luckily we were able to eat something. Can only recommend it!! It is also positive that you can pay with Aexp.

Prachtig pand in Deventer. Het personeel is vriendelijk en niet opdringerig. Het eten was prima van smaak en werd mooi opgediend. Minpuntje was dat de kachel erg laag stond wat ons koude voeten opleverde. De Kulfi (ijs) wat aan de harde kant en met een klein toefje slagroom, aan de zuinige kant.

I found a hair in the potato dish, no problem mistakes happen. 3 days later I ordered again and this time I found a hair in 2 different dishes, disgusting, never again!

Wasn't what I would expect from an Indian restaurant.

The food was not good when I ordered the food i told them to be medium spicy . when I started ear the meal it was very spicy so I told them it was very spicy they didn't do anything !!!!!!!!so I didn't enjoy the meal . Also the prices was very high.

We have been coming to this restaurant for years when we are in Deventer and are usually satisfied. Yesterday, October 19, 2024, we were there again. Made a reservation for 6:15 PM and we got there right on time. We ordered soup and the main courses at the same time. After some insistence, at 7:45 PM (!!) we received the bowls of dal soup that had been thoroughly diluted with a lot of hot water and the only taste was the sour of the lemon slice in it. The main courses also took quite some time to arrive and clearly appeared to have been hastily put together. We didn't order any more dessert so as not to have to wait even longer. Very unfortunate, we have often recommended this restaurant to many people, but we now know for sure that last night was the very last time for us and our circle of acquaintances.

Always a buffet on Thursdays, very tasty and fresh. Staff nice and fast.

We were here on a Thursday and there was a buffet. The food itself was tasty, but unfortunately there were very few choices for vegetarians. Most dishes contained chicken, although it did not add much to the dish.

After years I drove to Deventer again to eat at Kohinoor of India. The atmosphere and service were as we remembered: friendly and not intrusive. My lamb tikka from the Tandoori oven was wonderfully seasoned and lay on the glowing dish between the sizzling onions. The meat was unfortunately a bit on the dry side, but the herbs made it a success. The quantities are certainly good and the price is perfectly fine. How nice that you can eat so well there for a reasonable price!

Very tasty food here. Dishes were really deliciously prepared and the portions were just right. The service was very friendly.

Sometimes less chicken at other Indian restaurants and not as much oil as if it floats. In other words, a nicely distributed portion and, above all, very tasty. Here too, compliments to the chef.

3rd time we have eaten here and it gets worse each time. Waiting almost an hour for the food, we were about to leave. The chicken was more bone than meat. Tables are really on the small side if you order a few side dishes. I think that after trying this restaurant 3 times it is time to look for another Indian restaurant.

We all agree, we had a delicious meal. We had three different dishes so we were able to share. Both chicken and lamb were buttery soft, portions sufficiently large. The restaurant was quite full, but we never had to wait long, it actually went quite quickly. In short, in our opinion, highly recommended.

My husband is a big fan of kohinoor. You can pick up good food here. He is always helped quickly and friendly. The food tastes great, the portions are large and it is well priced for the quality.

Voor de derde keer met m’n zus er gaan eten. We hebben helaas voor de tweede keer heel slechte ervaring. Het leek wel of het befaamde donderdagavond buffet ‘leftovers’ serveerde. Bij thuiskomst al meteen buikprobleem en volgende ochtend weer. Zo teleurstellend want in de omgeving is er geen Indiaas eten alternatief. Last week we ate a buffet at Kohinoor, it was a big disappointment. Only 2 containers of meat that looked very similar, 2 containers of chicken wings and a container of spinach with meat in it, then a container of gunk that passed for vegetarian korma! And also some raw vegetables and naans. What was there was quite tasteless, not spicy at all and even worse, the containers were almost always empty and were replenished piecemeal, with almost all tables occupied!! In addition, the buffet table was placed in an extremely awkward position, you had to squeeze through the waiters and people collecting your food. The staff was friendly but a bit poppy. We cannot judge whether the food you can order from the menu is okay. We won't go there again!!

We gaven dit restaurant een herkansing na een eerdere negatieve ervaring. Helaas nog slechter dan twee jaar geleden. Tafels staan veel te dicht op elkaar, zodat het lijkt alsof je met volslagen vreemden aan tafel zit. We moesten een uur wachten op de hoofdgerechten. De tandoori mixed grill bleek te bestaan uit een assortiment aan taai en onbestemd vlees met weinig smaak, de curry was on-Indiaas flauw. Er komt geen derde keer.

Delicious Indian dining near the center of Deventer. Traditionally decorated restaurant that looks luxurious, but where the price/quality ratio is very good! We ate alone on a quieter day later in the evening and therefore sat alone in the restaurant while the service was already cleaning up. There was nothing they could do about it, but that might have been less convenient.

Gezellig gegeten, gelukkig niet te scherp

Sinds jaar en dag goede kwaliteit eten. Bijzonder lekker.

Het eten is prima. De sfeer en de bediening zijn gemiddeld. Ik was er niet van onder de indruk. Voor echt gezelligheid hoef je er niet heen. Oubollige inrichting, hele kleine tafeltjes die te dicht op elkaar staan.

Buffet, Lekker en ongedwongen met veel aandacht van het personeel.

Prima restaurant, lekker eten, vriendelijke bediening. Paar aandachtspunten: de website moet echt een keer vernieuwd worden. Met name online reserveren is een must. Toiletten kunnen ook wel een make-over gebruiken.

Voor ons de eerste keer, wat onwijs lekker gegeten. Het was voor herhaling vatbaar. Ruime porties, veel keus op de kaart.

Elke donderdagavond is er een buffet. Eten is warm en wordt regelmatig aangevuld en prima op smaak. Wat ik mis is informatie over de gerechten qua inhoud en pittigheid. De service laat veel te wensen over.

heerlijk Indiaas eten met authentieke smaak....hele vriendelijke en correcte gastheer. Prijzen zijn laag en de smaak is prima..aanrader voor liefhebbers van de Indiase keuken.

Heerlijk gegeten! We hadden een beetje een idee wat we wilden eten en de ober gaf ons toen wat tips om voor bepaalde gerechten te kiezen zodat we allemaal konden proeven. Wat geweldig! Topadvies!
