Went here for Christmas eve, vibe was very cozy with waiters wearing Christmas hats and very joyful and enthusiastic

We arrived at 20:58 to quickly eat something cause we knew it was supposed to close at 21:30. We waited for 5 minutes until we had a waiter come to us and tell us they won’t let anymore people inside since it’s only / minutes before closing. Not acceptable to advertise 21:30 closing time yet not accept anyone more than 30 minutes before closing.

Came to the restaurant and waited for someone to serve us which is normal practice there but it ended up that my husband had to approach a young woman who told him irritatedly that she was busy and didn't have time to serve. As he said it was her manner and the way she said it that made us leave again. So sad because normally even though it is busy we have always had a good feeling about the place.

We had a delicious meal for a very friendly price.

We were here last night with five people. We arrived at 5:50 PM and were helped with drinks. 10 minutes later, our food was also taken immediately: three pizzas and two pastas. About 40 minutes later, still no food? I asked the manager if everything was okay, but he went to check and didn't get back to me! I then went forward and asked the same manager, who said, "I'll check." He said we'd be served next time, so about 15 minutes later. That was enough. I told them to leave and that an hour or so for two pastas and three pizzas was too long. I wanted to pay for the drinks, but the manager wouldn't let me.

Great menu with plenty of choices. The salmon pizza was excellent, and the bubble tea was delicious. But above all, the staff was very friendly. Romy in particular, very kind and welcoming. She even struck up a pleasant conversation with us. See you next time, who knows! 😃

We went to dinner with a group of eight people, and it took ages. We had to wait half an hour for our drinks and an hour for our food. There was also mold on the bottles of drinks we received.

The food was good, it was certainly cozy. But somehow it was sad that the dessert wasn't served on time and my partner got the answer 15 minutes after I had already eaten my dessert: another three to five minutes and then it would be there. I had three scoops of ice cream and my partner had the Italian mess. This is very poor.

I went out to dinner at Happy Italy yesterday. I went to the cinema that night to see the movie Wicked, but the most unforgettable thing about that evening was our waitress, Romy. We were served with effortless warmth and charm. And whenever I wanted to ask for something, she was there immediately to take care of it. I didn't even have to look for her before she was there to check if everything was to my liking. My experience at Happy Italy Alkmaar wasn't particularly remarkable, but Romy's service is something I won't forget for a long time.

Romy from Happy Italy is the epitome of service! She immediately seated us at the best table in the entire restaurant. I'd been feeling very depressed lately, but after Romy's kind and personal service, I felt a joy I hadn't felt in years. She also gave me advice that will finally help me turn my life around. I'm going to name my next child Romy after this wonderful evening!

Two words: never again. (Dec. 7) After an original review at the request of Happy Italy itself, here's my review: Our visit got off to a rocky start: despite ordering our drinks at 6:40 PM, we didn't receive them until around 7:10 PM—and even then, only after asking several times. Unfortunately, that immediately set the tone for the rest of the evening. The restaurant looks and feels like a typical American diner: crowded, lacking atmosphere, and focused primarily on mass production rather than quality. This was clearly reflected in the food. The pastas seemed to be made primarily with cheap ingredients, probably mostly frozen. The flavors were bland, watery, and completely unbalanced, as if the dishes had been hastily assembled without attention to freshness or flavor development. All in all, the visit was disappointing. Both the service and the quality of the food left much to be desired, and for the price and time invested, it's difficult to recommend this restaurant.

We like coming here, but last time we had to wait a very long time for a table (we had a reservation), the food, the service and the payment.

Tonight, my friends and I had a wonderful dinner at Happy Italy in Alkmaar! They had a great playlist of Christmas songs right away, and the atmosphere was fantastic. We had the Pane con Tre Crème as an appetizer, which was delicious. Afterward, I ordered the pesto pasta, which was also very well prepared. The waiters were very friendly and made it a pleasant experience. Overall, definitely recommended! 🎄😊🇮🇹

Very friendly staff, attentive despite the crowd. The waitress was excellent, attentive and relaxed, so to speak. I didn't particularly enjoy the pasta; it was greasy and not very Italian. The pizza was okay.

What a fantastic restaurant! The food was excellent, and the pizzas and pastas were delicious. A special compliment to Jacob and Samara, who served us. They were so friendly and attentive that we felt extra welcome. We were so pleased that we returned two days in a row! Definitely recommended for anyone who wants to eat well and be truly pampered.

Large group dining, everything took a long time. It was very busy on a Friday night. The beers were great, the pizza looked good. The spicy chicken pasta is definitely very spicy too... keep that in mind. Furthermore, due to its size and concrete, it's very noisy; especially when it's busy, you can barely hear your tablemates. The food is excellent, tastes good, and the service is very friendly.

Ordered pizza and pasta. Waited two and a half hours. The app keeps saying it'll take another 30-45 minutes at most. Nothing. Then I called, and got no apology or apology, just "yes, it's not our fault, it's delivery, it's busy, it's all sorts of things, there's nothing we can do..." They simply blamed the customer for the problem. Just wait, it'll happen... Then finally, the delivery arrived, but the delivery was incorrect. The restaurant is now unreachable (they were on the phone five minutes earlier. It's 8 a.m., and the store is open until 9 a.m., according to the website). Unbelievable... I tried to have the missing pizza delivered, but I couldn't reach them. I tried to file a complaint, but it wasn't possible. I asked for a refund, but it's still going on... Service 0, terrible customer service. We'll be giving this restaurant a wide berth from now on. Disgraceful!

After ordering, we waited over an hour and a half. I asked twice how much longer it would be, and they said 5 to 10 minutes each, but nothing. If you can't handle it, don't let so many guests in. Many people around us complained about the long wait. We left.

My daughter's birthday... 10 years... That deserves a spontaneous dinner with a few family members. The big celebration will take place at a different time. Unfortunately, spontaneous isn't always a successful move. We were greeted well and escorted to our table. Drinks were immediately ordered and brought. But then came the food... It took forever. After about an hour, I finally asked. After an hour and a quarter, we finally all had our food and could enjoy it. Some tips for Happy Italy: - If you know it's busy and it will take an hour because a big name is playing in Victoria, just let them know. That's called managing expectations. - If it's busy... Don't smoke a cigarette with your friends at the bus stop. - If you're going to smoke as a cook, wash your hands when you go back to work. - If it's so busy that you can't supervise or keep the children's corner clean, keep it closed. Well... when you have to wait that long, you get a good view of everything. I hope this helps. The food was great and the service was very friendly, so definitely a plus. Good luck!

I have to give a star, but this place doesn't deserve one at all. It's unbelievable how unfriendly they are to customers. We waited 40 minutes for our takeaway food, mind you, at an empty table. But the policy is that you can't eat here if you order takeout. Meanwhile, there are already tons of tables available, and we're still not allowed to sit down because you have to make a reservation. This is pretty insane. A sick storm outside; they let you order takeout and then go eat in the cold and rain, but oh well, if you eat inside at an empty table.

The service was terrible because we brought our own drinks, and they confiscated them, promising to give them back at the end. They only gave us three (we had six). Two women intervened and started filming us, so the police came, and Happy Italy blamed us. The food was very dry, and the dough was very hard. They hadn't even cut our pizzas and had to do it themselves. The taste was also very bland.

We had dinner at Happy Italy today. We had a cinema deal. For 15.95 you get a pizza or pasta, and then you can go to the cinema. We had a pizza carpaccio and a pasta carbonada. They were very tasty, especially the pizza carpaccio! We were seated at 7:30 pm and had our food by 7:45 pm. The service was good, and the staff were friendly.

After ordering, we left hungry after waiting for over an hour and didn't eat our food, so we went to a snack bar for a bite to eat...

What a terrible place! One star is even too much. The website says reservations aren't necessary. At the entrance, the employee almost scolded me for not having a reservation. Not exactly a warm welcome. We then waited 45 minutes for one pizza and two pasta dishes. When people around us who had come in later finally got their food, we left. Out of politeness, I wanted to pay for the drinks (two glasses of tap water and a 7-Up). I ended up paying over €16! When I got the receipt, I discovered I'd actually been charged for the pizza. The waitress had already left, and we had to catch a movie, so I just let it go. I'm definitely never going back!

Terrible place. The staff were generally friendly, but after waiting over an hour for our food and repeatedly asking if it was coming, we decided to leave. Extremely long waits, pizzas just sitting on the counter without being served, and tables full of dishes that weren't cleared. Food: didn't get to try. Service: very slow. Ambience: very noisy.

After being closed for a while, we were finally able to enjoy one of our favorite restaurants again this weekend. Or so we thought. Although the kids had a blast in the ball pit, we had to wait a very long time for drinks and our food. After about an hour, we were finally able to enjoy it. According to the staff, most of whom were very friendly, they've been short-staffed since they reopened after the renovations. The food was excellent, nothing to complain about. Exactly what we always came here for. We'll definitely be back in six months for another chance, then we can definitely go back to that 4th star.

We've been coming to Happy Italy Alkmaar since our daughter was born. It's a wonderful place to dine. Our daughter is now a year old, and it's become our regular spot. Every time, we receive a super friendly welcome from the staff, who are always helpful and attentive. The service is excellent, and the atmosphere is always cozy and relaxed, even with a little one. A special mention goes to Jacob and Djarajo, who always help us with a smile and make us feel truly welcome. Thank you for the excellent care and the wonderful moments. We will definitely keep coming back!

My friend and I had made a reservation for 7:15 PM. Unfortunately, we had to wait outside in the cold for over 20 minutes before being shown to a table. Once we arrived at our table, we immediately ordered food and drinks using the QR code around 7:35 PM because we were already quite hungry. After 25 minutes, we still hadn't received our drinks, so we approached a staff member. They were very friendly and had us sorted within a few minutes. My white wine was still warm, so I went back to the bar to ask for some ice. I politely asked if she could bring me a small bowl of ice cubes after noticing the woman at the bar was busy. She glared at me, put the ice in my glass, and then set it down hard in front of me without saying anything or making eye contact. I then walked back to our table. But that gave me a strange feeling. When the food still hadn't arrived at 7:30, I approached a staff member again to politely ask if it was being prepared yet. That staff member was also friendly and immediately arranged for us to receive our food 10 minutes later. While waiting for our food, we killed time by checking reviews to see if others had encountered the same problem, and we immediately realized it was a hit or miss situation. There were reviews with similar experiences to ours, who had had to wait a really long time, while others were helped quickly and were very satisfied. Many people who were there the same day as us, whom we spoke to while waiting, were also very unhappy with the wait times. We also noticed that there were strange things on the walls of both the men's and women's restrooms. In the men's restroom (my friend sent a photo), the abbreviation "kys" was on the wall. It stands for "kill yourself." There were also other strange messages, but he hadn't taken a picture of them. We were extremely shocked by this. There were also indistinct things written in lipstick/blood on the wall in the girls' restroom. It was a very unpleasant sight. We had two plates of pasta followed by ice cream, which were actually very tasty, perhaps a little better, although we hadn't had to wait an hour and a half. When we asked for drinks, the staff member already indicated they were short-staffed. Which, of course, was beyond her control. It's a shame, however, that on a busy Saturday night, the employer couldn't estimate the need for more staff, for example, by scheduling extra people for the service, kitchen, and an extra host to prevent the uncomfortable wait. This creates extra, unnecessary stress for both the customers and the staff. I believe there were only two-thirds of the chefs, and maybe three serving, with only one host. We all had to wait in the incredibly strong wind and rain, some even for half an hour! I hope this review is well-received to prevent more people from having a bad experience here.

Recently visited Happy Italy Alkmaar. The restaurant was closed for a while due to a possible leak, and according to the employee at the entrance, a lot of renovation work was being done (walls and floor were replaced), although we didn't really notice it. (We were told the renovation isn't quite finished yet.) Today (October 1, 2025) there was a nice opening offer: the first 100 guests received a free pizza (choose from the first five on the menu) and – which only became clear at checkout – free drinks as well. A nice gesture, but the communication about this could have been clearer. The service was polite and friendly. The food itself is excellent: the pizzas are fresh, the pastas are also good, and the menu seems a bit more extensive than before. Unfortunately, there are also some downsides: it remains a very noisy restaurant, even when it's not full. An alarm went off regularly, making it difficult to hear each other. In addition, the tables and chairs are very close together. You constantly have to ask others to move over to sit down, and chairs constantly bump into each other. This was clearly a source of irritation for several guests. All in all: the food is fine and the entertainment was fun, but the atmosphere and decor are cluttered and cramped. Personally, it's not a place for a pleasant dinner; at best, it's practical before a movie.

Happy Italy offers large portions at a good price. The pasta and pizza are delicious and served quickly. The atmosphere is relaxed and child-friendly. Sometimes a bit busy, but the service is usually fast. Ideal for a quick, informal bite.👍

Very good pizza. This Happy Italy is currently undergoing renovations, but the terrace is open, so we were able to enjoy our favorite pizza. It was well arranged that the restaurant could continue operating, and we received a complimentary dessert on the house due to the renovation. Our motorcycles could be parked right in front of the door. Perfect if you're traveling through. Good luck with the renovations!

What should have been a nice evening of reunion with my sister, turned into almost my last evening with my sister. I have a deadly allergy to nuts, now it can happen that cross-contamination has taken place that nothing can be done about. But their help/knowledge in these kinds of situations can do something! With the first bite of my pizza I suffered from my allergic reaction; my throat swelled, my mouth started to itch, my tongue and lips started to swell and I started to feel short of breath; I would not be able to breathe within a few minutes. Fortunately my medication was at hand and administered and the staff was informed as soon as possible, from that moment on I knew that I never wanted to go there again. When I reported my allergic reaction, the shoulders were just not shrugged, the lady stuck to it. "Oh... Yes, sorry." was what they said to me. She did not get help, did not report it to another colleague who had first aid or emergency response experience, she kept it to herself! We really didn't know what to expect, so we quickly went to pay without dining further and were allowed to pay the full amount! When writing this review I don't expect any compensation in the form of a "discount or/ gift voucher". I expect Happy Italy to teach its staff how to act in these kinds of situations and who to call when they don't know how to act themselves. I work in the catering industry myself and know that at least 1 person with BHV or first aid must be present. I also want to inform people with allergies not to eat here if you don't have medication with you... No matter how close Alkmaar hospital is, these are dangerous things to shrug your shoulders about.

The pizzas and pastas were very tasty. There was also a lot of choice and many different things to choose from. The quality of the food was really good. The place itself was also quite vibey, although it was sometimes a bit noisy due to the large dining room. Furthermore, there were only 2 or 3 employees present, while the entire restaurant was almost full. This caused us to wait a very long time for our food. Furthermore, we had to actively get the attention of the employees, because otherwise we would never have been helped.

What a sad affair here, it looks like an oversized food shack. The pizzas were limp and tasteless, the service was almost non-existent. We got a table upon entering, someone came to take the order and after the pizzas were on the table we didn't see them again. We had to wait almost 45 minutes for someone to ask for the bill. They were more busy yelling at each other. Looked nice on the website, but never again for us!

Today we got food again at Happy Italy: five pastas and a pizza. As always it was delicious and we all enjoyed it. I regularly get my dinner at Happy and have always been very satisfied with it so far. I usually come in, place my order, wait a moment, and then quickly drive back to Haarlem to enjoy a delicious meal at home with my family or friends. Today, however, was different. I was kindly but urgently requested to place my order via a QR code. After a long day at work, I honestly can't wait to scroll through a web page on my phone, click buttons and pay. If I had wanted that, I would have placed my order online in advance. I find the direct, personal approach in the restaurant pleasant and efficient: I place my order, wait with a drink if necessary, and then take my food with me. When I tried to order via the QR code, I discovered that I could only pay with iDEAL. Since I no longer use a Dutch bank, that is simply not an option for me. I also indicated this, and eventually, after another long wait, I was allowed to place my order verbally. It was said that this would be “the new working method” and that people wanted to get used to it. However, this approach doesn't work for me. I come to your restaurant because I appreciate speed, convenience and personal contact. If you want to keep customers like me, I would like to ask: continue to make it possible to simply order at the counter and pay with other payment methods. Not everyone wants or can work via QR and iDEAL and if that becomes the only option, I will have to switch to another Italian restaurant for my take-away.

Service was very poor, waited an hour and a half for food and it was the wrong one. Pointless discussion about this while there were already apologies for the late drinks, taking the order and giving the card... What amateurism. It is possible to make a mistake, but please resolve it properly…. In the end, the bill was also incorrect. Disappointing! Food was as you would expect.

Disappointing experience despite a good start Upon arrival everything seemed promising: a cozy atmosphere and a smooth first drink and food order. The pastas were tasty, but the pizzas were pale and had hardly any sauce, which made for a dry crust. What followed next was a series of disappointments. The staff did not return for a second drinks order despite multiple requests. Only after more than two hours and the manager's intervention did we receive drinks again and could we ask for a dessert menu. The low point was a confusion at checkout: another table accidentally paid our bill. The situation was handled poorly; an awkward discussion ensued, with the manager acting unprofessional, talking loudly, getting too close and openly criticizing her staff. In addition, we were asked if we wanted to pay using a random voucher, which we refused. We eventually got our desserts (which were decent), but the service remained chaotic until the end. One free drink (coffee or tea) as compensation was meager after this messy experience. Conclusion: a business with potential, but seriously lacking in terms of service and professional behavior. Definitely not worth repeating.

Today we went to Happy Italy in Alkmaar and enjoyed a delicious cup of coffee. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed by Avani. What fantastic service – friendly, attentive and genuinely hospitable. I was able to really relax together with my husband in a nice atmosphere. Definitely worth repeating!
