Surprisingly pleasant atmosphere... Positive... Surprisingly large selection of food and drinks... Positive... Surprisingly good taste for a restaurant chain. The amount of meat in the salad could be improved. Service is good, whether you're a tourist or a local. Prices are fair and in line with what's on offer. But the most surprising thing is the children's play area on the first floor. Surprisingly child-friendly.

I entered the venue a short while ago because I am considering it for a future baby celebration event. I didn’t ask “Where is the toilet ?” Without me even asking where the baby section was, a gentleman at the entrance loudly said something like, “The toilet is 1 euro, if you want to use it, you have to pay.” I found this approach very strange. Assuming it was due to staff inexperience, I went upstairs to the baby section. Before leaving, I approached the male staff member and told him that his attitude was very poor and that I had come there regarding an event organization. He did not even apologize. It was a very bad attitude, terrible communication, and an extremely unprofessional approach. If it is a concern whether people will enter the restroom or not, you can place a staff member in front of it. That professional was very skilled in this area; it could become a new line of work for him!

Service was good, food absolutely disgusting. Unfortunately, I can't recommend it. A tourist trap.

I was visiting and wanted to eat a delicious pizza, but I was completely dissatisfied! The pizza tasted only of dough! NEVER AGAIN!

We had a delicious meal and our wishes were well-received, so we arrived back at the Maaspoort on time. Fantastic!

The food is truly unbelievably bad. The appetizer was okay. The only thing I could even remotely recommend is the cheese and garlic bread. We had the chicken Alfredo pasta and the truffle risotto. The pasta was completely tasteless and tasted like noodles with a flour roux. The chicken made it even more of an instant dish. For that price, it's a complete disaster. Overall, I definitely wouldn't recommend it. The German Vapiano is worlds better.

I went here because of the “Family friendly” aspect, expecting as is normally the case, that means the rest will be sub standard. Thankfully, I was very pleasantly surprised. Everything was 20% better than it needed to be. The play area. Huge, clean, well appointed. The food. Fresh and tasty, especially for the price point. Even the house wine was perfectly drinkable. Really a good experience, would definitely come again.

We ate through Social Deal. Choice of all pizzas and pastas plus 2 scoops of ice cream. Good deal. Friendly welcome. Service was also friendly and fast. My pizza had black, burnt edges. A shame. The other three pizzas were good. The restaurant itself doesn't have a very cozy atmosphere. Perhaps too big for a cozy atmosphere. But fine for a quick bite. Not for a dinner party. Also, too much ambient noise, especially if someone sits at the table behind you and starts FaceTime.

The pasta was overcooked (or was it pressure-cooked pasta?) and the sauces and pizza were tasteless. I had intestinal cramps the next day.

I just ordered 40 euros worth of pizzas, I have never had such a cold, limp, sweet and sour mess, how can you make a salami pizza sour and sweet? I ate 2 bites and then threw it straight in the bin.

I ordered spaghetti with seafood. I've never eaten such bad spaghetti in my entire life. One star is too many, unfortunately. A shame.

A tall, slim, blonde woman was supposed to help me. Instead, she was playing in the playground. Then Tarek came to help me. A short, fat man. He did a little dance first. Then he went to take the order. I don't think he quite understood. And when we finished eating and the plates were cleared, I saw him sneakily eating my leftover pizza. Someone was also walking around the restaurant without shoes or socks. He also wanted to take off his pants, but I told him not to. Then I wanted to play in the ball pit, but that wasn't allowed because I was supposedly too old, but that tall, slim, blonde woman was playing in it too. The rest of the staff were cute duchesses.

There were five of us there and we were unfortunately extremely disappointed. As soon as we sat down, we noticed that the atmosphere was off: very unfriendly service, it felt like they didn't even want to work. After a brief conversation with the waitress and waiter, we decided not to order at all. Simple questions were met with only rude, dismissive answers. This kind of behavior is completely inappropriate for a restaurant. Absolutely not recommended!

We were looking forward to a lovely family evening at Happy Italy Venlo, but were unfortunately very disappointed. From the moment we arrived, we had the feeling that children weren't welcome. The staff were unfriendly and seemed annoyed, even though our children were quiet and polite. Instead of answering our questions, we received only brief, almost condescending answers. The atmosphere was tense and uninviting. For a restaurant that outwardly wants to appear relaxed and family-friendly, the treatment of families is simply disappointing. We will definitely not be returning.

We arrived quite late, and the staff made that clear. They were out of toilet paper, as was the soap.

We were there on a Sunday, didn't make a reservation, and despite there being plenty of free tables, we were asked to wait at the entrance (like in a doctor's waiting room). We were able to order our drinks shortly afterward, and another ten minutes later, we were able to order our food. In total, we had to wait an hour for our order. Mind you, there wasn't a huge rush of customers, but how is it possible that a group that arrived after we ordered our three drinks got the food for five people (same dishes) before us? The ambiance itself is okay, the tables could be cleaner. They wipe them frantically with a rag, but the fact that the rag briefly falls to the floor and is picked up again for further scrubbing doesn't seem to matter. The "kids' corner" seems to stretch across the entire upper floor, including the wooden staircase. When you sit under it, you feel like a horde of raging, screaming children are about to fall on your table. The food was okay, nothing to praise too much. All in all, not worth recommending; we won't be back.

Outside, it says €8.75 for pizza and pasta, but prices start at €11 or €12, and the special price only applies to children up to the age of eleven.

Very good! I'm personally not a fan of pizza, so I opted for pasta. It's nice that you can choose the type of pasta. My seafood pasta was delicious and ready quickly, a large portion, and beautifully presented. The ice cream afterward was also delicious, and it's a nice touch that you can eat the container as well.

It was very warm inside (unfortunately, no air conditioning). After dinner, we usually had to remind ourselves about dessert.

(Un)Happy Italian... Had (fortunately) ordered 2 starters. The Happy sauce is a bland mix of tomato, garlic parmesan and I suspect yoghurt, not seasoned nothing nada. Bread is dry, bland. Anyway roermond 2.0 in the making

Unfortunately, it was disappointing. Even though the place was empty, the food arrived after 40 minutes. The pizza was cold, soft, and completely undercooked. The pasta was overcooked, flavorless, and lacked proper sauce; absolutely not worth the €14-16 price tag. The only thing that impressed me was the fresh cheesy garlic bread. The place looks classy, ​​but the food seems carelessly prepared. Service was nice, but minimal. A real shame, especially when you're one of the first guests. I expect more effort from the kitchen.

Great food and friendly staff, definitely recommended

One of the worst Italian restaurants I've ever eaten at. We each had two pasta dishes – which looked very appetizing on the outside. The sauces, however, tasted like they came from a packet and were over-oiled. The pasta was covered in grease, which is why we didn't finish our meal and still felt sick later. The service was also unfriendly to Germans. The price is also far too high. There is one plus point: you sit outside in a large square that resembles a marketplace. Overall, though, I strongly advise everyone to stay away from this place.

We were there yesterday and ordered two pasta dishes, one ice cream for the child, a beer, and two iced teas. The pasta bianca tasted horrible, like disgusting salty pasta. Even adding more seasoning didn't make it any better. When we paid, we had to pay almost €60, which seemed too much to us, and after another look at the menu, we realized that this price couldn't be right. After a discussion with the waitress, we were finally brought the bill, and there we realized that we had been charged for three additional drinks. Whether this was a scam or not, we couldn't tell. We then received the overcharge in cash. Our first and last time at this restaurant.

Unfortunately very disappointed. The food, in our case the pasta, looked great but was tasteless and only tasted of salt, and no amount of seasoning helped. Very anticlimactic. I could have handled it better at home. The service wasn't exactly friendliest and three additional drinks totaling 15 euros were added to our bill. Whether this was intentional or not is unfortunately unknown, but it was still very annoying. (As if the German tourists don't notice anything and pay the amount anyway). After speaking to them the money was of course refunded even if not with much understanding as the staff had no other choice. All in all, not Happy Italy but Sad Italy.

I wouldn't recommend the pasta; we returned our two half-full plates. The pizzas looked better, and maybe that would have been a better choice, but someone else is welcome to find out :) The service was quick and friendly, the ambiance rather average, but quite pleasant outside in the summer.

Very unfriendly man working there. heavily pregnant wanted to go to the toilet for a fee and was simply sent away. Even wanted to have a drink on the terrace. Definitely not recommended.

Spicy Chicken Pasta was okay. I liked the Tiramisu. Apart from that Lemonade was not good at all... too much watery and included 5 ice cubes.

Delicious and large pizzas, reasonable prices for the portions. The ice cream was also delicious. The restrooms and cleanliness were fine. The atmosphere was very nice; unfortunately, the upper floor was closed because it was a quiet Saturday. From there, you would have a beautiful view of the Meuse and a view of the children's area. The play area is nice but small. At least it's a restaurant where you can spend some time in peace while your kids play. With the SocialDeal offer, it's a definite recommendation.

I really can't recommend the pasta. We had spaghetti carbonara, and it was very soggy. The plates still had tomato sauce left over from the previous person. The tables weren't wiped, and the staff weren't very friendly either. Despite having free tables, we were ignored for quite some time. I wouldn't recommend it.

Ordered 3 Alfredo pastas and we didn’t like them. They had no taste and all were different.

Accessibility for people outside Venlo is impossible. They do not have a parking space themselves, the parking garages in their neighborhood are overcrowded, parking spaces in their neighborhood are overcrowded. Everything there is one-way traffic. I have lost the money from my vouchers. By looking for a parking space I literally drove a quarter of a tank of gas and I drove back home out of poverty and got a döner dish to satisfy my hunger. You will never find me in Venlo again to eat out or do other activities.

I ordered pasta with salmon – what I got smelled more like tuna than fresh salmon. The taste was just as disappointing. When the waiter asked me if everything was okay, I said that the fish didn't taste fresh and he didn't even say sorry or anything, just a rude "We get fresh fish every day." I then said it just smells like tuna and he just said, annoyed, "I can show you the packaging." Even if it is fresh salmon, it still tasted terrible. I find it incredibly cheeky that they didn't say they were sorry. Then don't ask for feedback.

Tried to order. First disappointed that almost all plant-based options were removed from the menu. Eventually found something, but unfortunately after half an hour (!) we got the message that our order was cancelled.

When we ordered the food, my husband spoke in English to the waitress and she spoke to him in Dutch, clearly my husband does not speak Dutch... he must have suggested to us what language to speak since at the entrance the sign to wait for a table was in 3 languages ​​so I assume that the staff member of this restaurant speaks all 3 languages. Not to mention that we are in Venlo, a tourist city. Then, I didn't like when he served us the forks because he didn't serve each one of us personally but instead left the three of us aside and we had to pass ourselves, this was the deal after seeing that we didn't speak Dutch well. The food was terrible, I ordered an Alfredo pasta with spaghetti, the noodle looked like a soup noodle, without flavor and it felt like they had made string cheese and they had melted it…. Clearly the process of an Alfredo sauce was not seen. If you want to have an Italian restaurant, try to have Italian chefs or the Italian staff who give you a warm welcome.

Mediocre food and good atmosphere, but the staff is a bit of a joke. I have CIPO (small intestinal paralysis), which means I can only eat very small portions myself. I asked if they also had smaller pizzas, but that was difficult. That was supposedly not allowed. I asked why and explained my situation, but that was simply ignored with "yes, there are so many people who make up an excuse to eat a smaller portion, so no, we won't do that". Once again I stated that this is absolutely no excuse and that I am really sick. I even got the answer "Well there is nothing to see on you so yes..." Then I wanted to show my stoma bag. Not all diseases are visible.. I felt quite intimidated and froze. In retrospect I thought it was antisocial, that's not how you treat people.

Pasta dishes really weren't tasty, they just didn't taste like anything! And I wasn't the only one, neighboring tables were just as upset about it. Although pretty much fresh ingredients were used. Pizza was very tasty but Pepsi isn't for everyone, so it's not for me either! Prices are really high.

We spontaneously went there for lunch today. The food was delicious, especially pizza. Everything was quick and smooth, even though the café was really full.

Never been treated so badly as here! We wanted to eat here with our family on the terrace (7 people), asked the staff if there was room… That was there, but we were not allowed to move the tables, but we were allowed to take chairs (tables were in configurations of 4 people) from other tables. When we had almost settled in, we were told that this was not the intention and that we as a family should sit at 2 separate tables. In our opinion, not the definition of sitting on the terrace with your family. There was no problem with the employee and no cooperation from the staff to arrange anything, which resulted in us deciding to sit on the neighbors' terrace! A missed opportunity from Happy Italy Venlo!

Last week we had a relatively spontaneous meal there with children. There was nothing going on. Since there is an indoor play area upstairs, we asked if we could sit upstairs, but were told no because all the tables upstairs would be blocked. That was a bit of a shame, because the view at the top is absolutely beautiful! The children had the play area to themselves and clearly celebrated it. Even if you can hear the noises everywhere due to the open room concept ;) The ambience is great! The pizzas were all very tasty. The children's pizzas in the shape of a bunny head were very large and attractive. We were all able to take our leftovers with us and had enough left over that we could eat in the evening. The tables were clean, the staff quick. One star deducted because a women's toilet was broken and the staff was a bit inflexible, especially if you have children with you. But we'll be back! :)

The pizza with fresh tomatoes and arugula tasted okay, but also arrived only lukewarm and wasn't cut all the way through. The only truly hot dish was the pasta with sauce – unfortunately, its flavor was also mediocre. Overall, the food seemed carelessly prepared and lacking any sensitivity. Of course, we had salt, pepper, oil, etc. at the table – but that's no substitute for good seasoning when cooking. Anyone who knows a little cooking knows that. And if you respond to criticism with "Then do it yourself" – as some of the answers on Google suggest – then you unfortunately have no place in the restaurant industry 😞 . We ate here over a year ago – inside back then – and it was truly delicious. Today was a complete disappointment. Even at the other tables, it was clear that a lot of the food wasn't tasty – barely touched plates, lots of leftovers 😱🫣. This became especially clear when another couple asked us how we enjoyed our meal as we left – they had observed for themselves how much food was left at the tables. When I read the owners' responses to other critical reviews, I can only shake my head. It often seems like excuses rather than a genuine interest in improvement. My tip: Invest in good staff and put more effort into the kitchen‼️ The restaurant's prices are reasonable, and the location is fantastic – but that alone isn't enough. The quality has to be right. I can't recommend this restaurant under any circumstances‼️‼️‼️

During the carnival, while looking for a quiet place to change my 4-month-old baby's diaper and breastfeed, this restaurant seemed like a nice, quiet place to do this. Walked in and asked if they had a room/changing area somewhere where I could change my daughter. This was absolutely impossible, they had no public toilets so we had to do this somewhere else. It's completely fine that carnival goers who only come in to go to the toilet are not allowed to use the toilet, but I find it really absurd that they are not even allowed to change my baby. When asked if I could feed my daughter here, I was immediately told that this was not allowed. Of course I really wanted to order a drink or something, but they didn't even indicate that. There were maybe 6 people in the entire restaurant, so there was no shortage of room. Even if they had only given me a chair, I would have been more than satisfied with it. It's a shame that no thought is given at all. No explanation, no apology. I ended up with my baby in a busy pub where I was lovingly helped to find a nice spot. So it can be done that way! It goes without saying that I will never return here.

This is a great place for a quick bite. Had a pasta pollo e pesto myself. Sauce could have been a little fuller, was a bit watery.

We accidentally booked a social deal and table for 8 people. I indicated this when ordering. I couldn't use the vouchers. I had to book the table via social deal. I could have understood if the restaurant was busy but it was half empty. Very unfortunate I have now been able to return the Socialdeal vouchers.

Too much noise, even loud music gives you a headache

Food is not good. Had spaghetti pomodoro, the cheapest pasta and not al dente (cooked way too soft). Sauce was quite bland, a little herbs, garlic or parmesan wouldn't have hurt. Second portion was Pizza Margherita, tasted like frozen food, also bland and not crispy. Too expensive for the quality. Drinks weren't great either, for 6 euros you can expect better soda. Despite a reservation, we had to wait 10 minutes and then got a rather awkward table in the middle of the room that had a bar stool (bad with a child). After 30 minutes we were hungry again, so the nutrient content was pretty much zero. Toilets on the upper floor with no visible lift, only one toilet and no soap (there was disinfectant in there instead). You can do it if you don't care much about quality and don't care about the price or you're really hungry, otherwise it's better to go to Mac Donald around the corner.

Stood nearby at Primark and were hungry. When I saw Happy Italy, the advertisement with the affordable price piqued our curiosity. When we entered the restaurant we were quickly shown to the table by the waitress. The ambience is beautiful. It has something of a coziness to it. The waitresses had a smile for the guests. No long wait from ordering to serving. The drinks and food tasted great, and at a great price. I will save this address for trips to Venlo. I also really liked the pizzas for kids with chocolate and Smarties, as well as the offer for children's birthdays.
