The food was good, but not authentic Surinamese rotti. Hence my 2 stars. The taste of the sauce was very sweet. If you are a Surinamese connoisseur, you won't like this rotti. For a Dutch person, it is a good meal.

Got roti and a chicken curry sandwich... The roti sauce wasn't tasty and the potatoes were rock hard. The chicken curry sauce looked like it came from a packet. They could really take away that Surinamese stuff.

I picked up food from Happy Surinees today and ordered Thai cashews with chicken, a dish I have eaten here before. Once home, it turned out to be just chop suey with chicken, with a handful of fried cashews dumped on top. I called immediately. They apologized and quickly sent a delivery person to exchange the dish. We even got a bag of banana chips to make up for it. Problem solved nicely, I thought. Until I opened the new container: exactly the same mess. Again chop suey with chicken and cashews on top. When I called again, I was told that the dishes are “almost the same.” No, they aren't. If you don't know how to prepare a dish on your own menu, fine, but making the same mistake twice and then acting like the difference doesn't matter makes no sense. I didn't feel like arguing anymore and cut my losses. Too bad, because I used to eat very well here, but Happy Surinees isn't what it used to be. Although I am curious now what I'll get if I order chicken roti. Tjap tjoy with a roti flatbread on the side?

Ordered chicken roti and cassava cod via Thuisbezorgd. The food was almost cold, smothered in curry sauce, and an egg with a white yolk?? The rest was edible, though. The cod tasted fine, but the fried cassava was bone dry. This was the first but also the last time I will order from here.

A chicken curry sandwich, without sambal Costs !?! €5.20 ?!? A bag of small rolls and a small container of chicken fillet from the supermarket doesn't even cost that much. Where you used to be able to get a nasi meal for ten euros or maybe 11, the prices have increased so drastically. I'm going to stop by the Surinamese place one more time because I have so many points that I get a discount again, but then it's over. You get the feeling you're being ripped off, and I've been going there for years. It's a bit of a shame like this; there really is no excuse for these kinds of price increases and high prices in general. A little further down the road, at the station at Jack's, you can still get a rice meal for ten euros. That will be my go-to spot for the time being.

Delicious sandwiches at Happy Surinees in Rotterdam. The taste and the portion size are particularly top-notch. You can tell they are made fresh, and the staff is friendly too. However, prices are on the high side for a sandwich these days, but the quality makes up for it. Definitely recommended if you are in the mood for good Surinamese sandwiches.

Things have gone downhill badly here. And because of the insects inside that want to sit on your food, I get nauseous just thinking about them laying eggs. You can see them flying into the kitchen too. There are dozens of them sitting on the window and flying over your food. I am never going here again.

The service was pretty good and the employees were nice. They are efficient and the food gets prepared quickly. However the food itself was a complete disappointment. Everything was very bland and tasted like some cheap microwave meal. The ingredients are low quality and the food is bought premade wholesale. The chicken satay was the typical frozen wholesale satay that was already partially precooked, stale and lacks any seasoning. The satay sauce was also just the same sauce you can find at the local supermarket. The prices aren't good either, you can find much better food for a lot better prices. This place is more like a typical fast food joint than an actual restaurant.

Went to eat at the Surinamese restaurant today. Ordered a roti and a rice noodle dish. Apparently, they love using handwritten and printed A4 paper here to make clear what they don't have. Unfortunately, that really detracts from the atmosphere. You have to order at the kiosks, and once you've paid for your drinks, you can grab them yourself from the refrigerator next to them. Convenient, but not service-oriented. It seems like a Temu version of the efficiency of McDonald's kiosks. The food wasn't bad, but it seemed to come straight from a soup kitchen without any tender love & care. Additionally, the rice noodles were quite dry and seemed to have come straight from a warming pan. Is the Surinamese restaurant not recommended? No, certainly not. But it definitely has some catching up to do. Until then, I'm going to that shiny sphere on the other side of the Alexandrium.

Had a delicious takeaway meal a while back. Large portions, good price. I've done this a few times now. Up until today, things were going well. I understand shrinkflation, but this is not normal. Such small portions of bami or nasi. Just to be clear, the quality is amazing. And the satay is killing it, so delicious. It's just that the portions are way too small for the money you have to pay for them. 16.80 for three skewers and a small bowl of nasi. At the Chinese restaurant, you pay 15.00 for this, and it includes meat, egg, and ham, and at least 50% more nasi. A real shame.

I ate moksi meti, which didn't turn out as it should. The flavor was very mild, cooked on the eco setting. The meat was all very dry, fried, and greasy. The nasi, which they claim is worth an extra 2.50, was lumpy and loveless. It had clumps of white rice mixed in. I was looking forward to it and did eat it, but it wasn't worth it for me. And I don't often write negatively. This is intended to bring about improvement.

I used to come here for years, but unfortunately, all the chicken breast is slaughtered halal. Recently, there's been a large sign at the checkout. So, the chicken bled to death while conscious. It's a shame that a Surinamese shop is participating in this as well.

Unfortunately, like many in the reviews, we've noticed a significant decline. We didn't have a good feeling about it when we called to ask a question. The food we ate last time wasn't what we were used to either. And the portions are getting smaller and smaller. We used to order weekly fixed orders for a family of five. Now we can only manage with just the three of us. I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt, but after ordering four times, we're completely done with it. It's impersonal and not at all what they used to be. It's a shame, but hey, they're not the only ones... Good luck with that.

No, roti from this place isn't in my top 10. The authentic masala curry flavor, the chicken and potato cheesecake really lacks the curry flavor. Tjau-min moksi miti was too salty and dry. The sweet gravy that comes with it is necessary to make it edible. I parked the car at the Alexanderplein parking garage because we were shopping in Rotterdam city center and the Alexadrium for a day, and I thought I'd get something to eat there because it looked neat and good. Back home in Deventer, so 186km away, I was looking forward to the food I brought. It was a disappointment. So now I'm at home full of regret that I didn't go to Kruiskade in Rotterdam West, because there are restaurants there that do meet the authentic taste of roti and tjau-min. €30 for the chicken roti and Tjau-min moksi miti, no more from this place.

The food has really deteriorated dramatically. The bakabana was over-fried, so it was very hard and chewy, and the banana itself wasn't soft either. The teloh should be soft on the inside and slightly crispy on the outside. The cod didn't have a good color. It looked more like tuna. It tasted like crispy French fries instead of real teloh. And the peanut sauce with the banana didn't taste good. I really didn't like it; it was a waste of my money. Afterward, I had a stomach ache and felt very nauseous. I won't be ordering from here again.

Seriously, those things were floating in oil as if they were preparing for a swimming competition in the Gulf of Mexico. I had to throw half of it away, because even my stomach said: "I can't take this anymore, stop it." For those who don't know: tello is supposed to be slightly crispy, not a black brick from hell. Cod should be plentiful, well salted, not hidden as if it were contraband. And if you charge almost 17 euros for 2 portions of tello with 1 coke, I can at least expect that I won't need a crash course in antacids after eating. Location? Yes, that's nice. But then you might as well just sit there and eat a sandwich, because the view is the only thing worth eating here. Tip for the business: Read a cookbook. And I don't mean one from TikTok, but one that has real Surinamese food in it. Maybe one with pictures, that helps too. So I will NEVER eat here again. Even my shadow will stay on the other side of the street from now on.
