Nothing but positive! Absolutely nothing to complain about. The food was truly delicious. The staff is very friendly and does a great job. Cozy spot. Nice music at a pleasant volume. We even went back after just 2 days. And it was fantastic again!

Ate here twice this week. Outside and inside. Gorgeous location! From what I saw, it's no punishment to work here. A good team. The food is sooooo delicious, especially the eel and the duck breast 😍. A 10 for all of you and who knows, maybe see you again.

A really nice restaurant in the middle of the woods. With a lovely outdoor terrace. We ate here with a group of 8 and the food was delicious, with a wide selection of good dishes that were well prepared. It was very busy on the terrace so we had to wait a little longer for our dishes, but the service was very pleasant, friendly, and welcoming.

The food was really delicious. The service was good, just took a bit long before they came to ask about drinks, and the food took longer than desired (about an hour). The atmosphere was really nice! Would definitely come back to eat again :)

Atmospheric and warm restaurant where you are always served with a smile! We have already tasted and approved all the dishes, accompanied by delicious wines. The menu also changes partly with the seasons, which is nice if you live nearby and visit often. A drink by the fire on a winter day or relaxing outside on a warm summer evening! Anything is possible here; the staff is always attentive and extremely friendly, and the owners simply work alongside the waitstaff and behind the bar 👍 It's just a shame that it isn't open all week 😜 We eat out often, but here at least 2-4 times a week 🤗

Yesterday we ate here with 7 people. I chose a schnitzel; it was small, but you did get two of them. However, the second one was much too hard, so I had to cut off the edges and only the middle remained. I mentioned this to the waitress and received the response: "I will pass it on!" But nothing else was done about it 🥴 If that is the way to resolve things, then I won't be coming back a second time.

We ate here last year with some friends; it's a very nice place, especially if you're staying at one of the nearby campsites. Fantastic and friendly service, plenty of time to enjoy the meal, and delicious food. During our holiday, we often wondered whether we should cook ourselves or go back a second time.

We got married at Het Ei van Columbus on June 12, 2026, and we look back on a fantastic day. Everything was arranged down to the last detail, and we truly had nothing to complain about. The staff was friendly, helpful, and ensured that everything ran smoothly. During the 3-course dinner, we were served generous portions, and the quality of the food was excellent. Throughout the rest of the day, there was also more than enough food and drink available. No one went without anything. Compliments also to the male waiter who was present throughout the day. Thanks to the good organization, we were able to fully enjoy our wedding day without having to worry about anything. We therefore highly recommend this venue for a wedding or other festive event. Thank you for helping to make an unforgettable day possible!

Good and polite reception; the menu is clear and not overly extensive. The dishes are tasty, though. We ordered onion soup and satay from the friendly staff. At the end, we had a delicious latte macchiato. This restaurant is highly recommended and is located in a beautiful wooded area. It is quiet in terms of ambient noise, despite a main road running nearby.

We were pleasantly surprised at restaurant Het Ei van Columbus near Beekbergen. The welcome was warm. Cozy, old-style ambiance. We had onion soup as a starter and sea bass fillet as a main course. The soup was hot, as it should be, and hearty, with an exquisite taste. The sea bass was also delicious, and everything was more than sufficient. It is a pity we couldn't manage dessert. A cozy restaurant with friendly and efficient service. The bill was also very reasonable. Highly recommended.

Unfortunately, we ate here for my father-in-law's birthday. Short on staff, very slow. Waiting a very long time for drinks and then receiving something you didn't order. This didn't happen just once, but 5 times during dinner! Wrong drinks, incorrect food; very disappointing, as they charge reasonable prices for their food and drinks here. Wrong orders, chaotic, and mediocre food. It's a shame, we won't be going here again.

If you want to enjoy exceptionally good food, this is the place to be. As a starter, we had a game platter and the spicy prawns. We shared this between the two of us. What a delicious sensation of different flavors and bites. Our main course was the duck breast. Garnished with various vegetables (chicory, green beans, carrot, courgette, bell pepper). Super tender meat, cooked just right. The fries, served in a nice paper bag on a stand, were delicious. For dessert, cappuccino and French Coffee. This came with a beautiful glass containing various chocolate treats. The waitresses did an excellent job and were very friendly and attentive. We arrived at half past six (a busy time regarding serving food) and there were about fifteen tables occupied, including three larger groups. Despite this, the various courses were served neatly and on time. There was no sign of rushing or stress from the ladies. Everything proceeded in a calm and smooth manner. Hats off. That also applies to the chef/owner (and his assistants) and the barmaid/owner. You, as an entire team, deliver a top-notch performance. It is a joy to experience this, because it is not just about the food, but the whole experience. And all of this in a beautiful setting. After two years, we are back in the neighborhood and have made a reservation again. The food is of the same quality. Delicious. Ambiance, service, pace, quantity, flavors. Everything is top-notch. This time we had Caesar salad, beef tenderloin carpaccio, duck breast fillet, Dame Blanche, and French coffee.

What a fantastic place. We had a delicious meal. In our party, we had the asparagus with ham or salmon. Generous portions, the asparagus prepared well, and a tasty sauce. The steak was also deliciously cooked. Fries and salads served as side dishes. The desserts looked delicious, so we went for them. We had never had the lava cake this good before.

Delicious food, lovely service, great atmosphere!

Unfortunately, a much worse score than it could have been due to very poor management and a very nasty dish. Steak with a fishy taste, likely caused by using the same pan with fat for both fish and meat in the kitchen. A disgrace and a mockery, while it seems like a funny place. What is so bad? 3 dishes, 2 of which were okay, but the “Columbus House steak” that was served was a complete failure and a disappointment. The steak had a very nasty fishy taste and was not very tender. The question is, are fish and meat fried in the same pan with butter? The accompanying fries were only served 10 minutes after the main course? Then it was changed to an order for “Venison steak”, which another person had already ordered and been served. The “replacement meal” seemed like a slightly less tender piece than the previous order. The taste was otherwise okay. But now the crux! Absolutely no apology from management or the cook. It was very quiet in the place, so it wasn't due to being busy. And absolutely no leniency! Simply making you pay the full bill, when you should be ashamed that it was so bad and inedible, is absurd. As management or a chef, in such a situation you offer a personal apology and deduct the “considerable costs” from the meal, or you offer the few glasses of soda and a glass of wine that were ordered for free, with a free dessert or cup of coffee at the end to make up for it. That is service, that is class. But the way this was handled is shameful! The nice young lady serving as a waitress has no authority; I don't blame her for anything. It is a nice location, but the damaged wall could use a fresh coat of paint. Faded glory, certainly regarding the level of good manners and good service, although it looks nice at first glance. I cannot recommend going here, but plenty of people will write that they had a nice cup of coffee on the terrace during a bike ride. Unfortunately, it is no better than that. Sorry

Cozy and pleasant place. The atmosphere has a bit of a forest cabin feel. Service was very friendly and fast; some staff members didn't speak Dutch very well yet but tried their very best, which was nice. The food portions were large and very tasty, so definitely good value for money. Only the dessert was a bit disappointing; the crème brûlée was cold and didn't have a hard sugar layer on top, so I think the desserts are pre-made. The menu is mainly meat; for main courses, there is one vegetarian option and one fish option, but that was to be expected. Fries, a salad, and a bread roll beforehand are also included. All in all, we had a nice evening with a good atmosphere and tasty food!

The chairs are a bit bulky for smaller or older people. Otherwise, the atmosphere is pleasant and the price is good.

A lovely, cozy place with a cozy living room atmosphere and a fireplace, yet a clean, luxurious vibe. The service was also very good. A young man who had only been in the Netherlands for a year and was also learning the language. A big smile on his face, really great.

What a lovely atmosphere! I might have mentioned when booking that I didn't want to sit near the toilets, but we had a great seat. The atmosphere is truly fantastic! The food was delicious! Absolutely fantastic, and that was true for all four of us. A nice menu, not too fancy, but a signature dish. And for those who really want something simple, there's also satay on the menu. The service was okay to excellent, and it was completely full, so we weren't in a hurry. The friendliness was excellent. The English-speaking staff, along with the Dutch-speaking staff, caused some confusion, but no problems. I'll be back!

We had dinner with four people tonight. The restaurant is very atmospheric and the food was delicious. The service could be a bit sharper, but it was certainly very friendly.

We came here often because we have a cottage at the bungalow park. It was always great. Only yesterday we had a completely different experience. The food was still excellent, though. There were four of us there. One of our orders hadn't come through correctly. So the other three had already finished their food, and then number four's food arrived. The staff didn't really understand it because they were all foreigners. The guy in charge (I think) said he couldn't do much about it. We did get the last round of drinks on the house, so he handled that pretty well. We're wondering what happened to this place. Maybe a different owner? In short, we went home unhappy.

Incredibly delicious food with fries and salad, and a free sandwich to start. Very friendly staff. It's a shame these young people are judged for not speaking Dutch well. They really try their best, are polite, and friendly. The owner is also very friendly. The restaurant is cozy, highly recommended!

What a charming and cozy restaurant! From the moment we walked in, we felt instantly welcomed by the friendly staff. The service was fast. The wine was delicious and perfectly paired with the dishes. The kitchen surprised us with flavorful and beautifully presented dishes that were clearly prepared with care. A place where you can truly enjoy a night out, and where we will definitely return. Highly recommended!

I order it every time, and it's always fantastic. Cooked perfectly, deliciously spicy, and full of flavor. The atmosphere is incredibly cozy: warm, cozy, and welcoming. The service is friendly, spontaneous, and genuinely interested. You immediately feel welcome. In short: a wonderful evening out, time and time again. I love coming here.

We always liked coming here; it was a very good restaurant. We were here last week and what a disappointment! There were three young people of foreign descent serving. I'm not racist, but when you can't communicate with them properly, I find it rather annoying. The menu was small; the day before, there was a different menu online! There were also no options to change the menu. For example, there was a steak with béarnaise sauce on the menu; we didn't think that was the best choice for steak, so we asked for pepper sauce or mushroom sauce; it wasn't an option. So we ordered satay instead; we got one skewer... And the fries arrived a good 5 minutes later; if you have to wait for them, your meat is already cold. The wine we ordered was supposed to be a Shiraz, at €5.50 per glass. For that price, you expect some good quality; it tasted like cheap table wine. Certainly not a Shiraz. People at the table next to us received a cabbage salad with their meal, which contained at least two handfuls of raisins. They sent it back in disgust, but it was silently taken away, and there was no further response, no other salad or anything. The owner came to ask if everything had been to our liking, and when we said we weren't that enthusiastic, she reacted grumpily and haughtily and quickly walked away from our table. What a shame for this once fantastic restaurant, where we loved to go, even at Christmas, but now we left as quickly as possible, and they won't see us again.

From top restaurant to rock bottom Used to be a top restaurant, now a huge disappointment. Inexperienced staff who barely spoke Dutch, no consideration for allergies ("just pick out the nuts"), and a rude and unsympathetic owner. The Shiraz we ordered tasted like Merlot, but was sharply denied. The dishes are mediocre, and the atmosphere is gone. We skipped dessert, didn't tip, and will never return.

The food was absolutely delicious, but it's a shame the staff wasn't polite and very disinterested, and they didn't dress properly. There were also a lot of fruit flies, perhaps due to the seven tables that weren't cleared. We won't be back, but compliments to the chef(s)—the food was definitely worth 4.5 stars.

Not bad, but not great either. The food was just fine, but not particularly delicious. The service was a bit unfriendly. Long waits even though it wasn't too busy, and there was simply little attention paid to the guests. I wouldn't eat there again anytime soon, but if you're in the area, it's perfectly fine for a one-time visit.

Overall, the food was fine, but there's room for improvement. The carpaccio had far too much Parmesan cheese, which overpowered the flavor. The steak sambal had a very greasy sauce, though the steak was cooked well and tasted good. The fries were good. The mushroom dish was prepared incorrectly, which they pointed out and resolved promptly. The ice cream dessert had melted and was replaced, which was also handled very nicely. Not a highlight tonight, perhaps just a coincidence.

We had a wedding party there. The service was behind the bar. Not handy with 150 guests. The limited snacks were not served logically: if a dish runs out at a table, you have to start the next round at that table!

Het Ei van Columbus ligt in een prachtige omgeving. Het eten was ook van voldoende kwaliteit en het personeel was vriendelijk. Er was echter terwijl wij aan het eten waren ook een bruiloft in een ruimte naast het eetgedeelte, en de deuren daar naar toe waren open. Dit gaf naarmate de avond vorderde veel overlast. Ik ben van mening dat je dit de restaurantgasten niet aan kunt doen. We wilden graag nog wat langer blijven, maar toen de dj van het bruidspaar helemaal losging, zijn we snel vertrokken. Jammer, want we kwamen allemaal van ver.

Had a great meal at Het Ei van Columbus. We just arrived to grab a bite to eat and without a reservation. Despite the crowds, we were warmly welcomed and a spot was created for us. Then we enjoyed the food. Pleasant staff and delicious food, what more could you want? Recommended!

Due to staff shortages it was only possible to be spoken to in English, broken English. Due to this staff shortage it was also not possible to sit outside on a warm evening 'we do not have service outside'. If you do not raise your hand no one comes to ask if you want to order a new drink or if everything is to your liking. Very unfortunate for such a beautiful location

Quite expensive. First time ever that our family of four spent more than 200 euros. A small downside was that the Pana cotta was cinnamon flavored, instead of the normal caramel. At a fairly classic French restaurant that came as a sad surprise. Everything else was really great! Lovely people, nice atmosphere and delicious food. We saw people with a dog, so they are also welcome.

Heerlijk gegeten! Vooraf de carpaccio, gewoon zoals een carpaccio hoort te zijn, en steak tartaar. Dat was een beetje een ikea-ervaring: alle ingrediënten los en assembleer zelf maar. Gelukkig bleven er geen schroefjes over ;) Maar tip: gewoon opdienen zoals de chef vindt dat het hoort. Daarna de biefstuk, prima gebakken en lekker mals, en de boneless ribs. Heerlijk mals, zacht en lekker van smaak. Tempo lag precies goed, ondanks dat het goed vol zat.

For the 3rd time here for dinner.. Very friendly personal! Good food! Dog friendly and children friendly! Pity that Tiramisu was not on the menu, in the rest was everything 5 star!

I got the christmas special, carpaccio as a starter, which was delicious, duck, which sadly was precut, making it dryer than it should've been. And as for dessert i got the "chef special" which cosisted of a dense brownie which was delicious, some vanilla ice cream, and some sort of pudding with a very sour "jam" on top. Overall, it was a nice experience and would recommend going atleast once.

Heerlijk gegeten en geholpen door een vriendelijke jongedame in de bediening, er ontbrak echter wat. Daarom vriendelijk gevraagd aan de gastvrouw/eigenaresse of er geen groente bij de sate werd geserveerd. "Bij de Sate komt kroepoek, atjar en uitjes maar er word geen groente bij geserveerd". Friet werd wel geserveerd en ook dat stond niet op de menukaart. Huh? "Bij andere gerechten word wel groente geserveerd". Menu gecheckt maar ook bij deze gerechten geen groente. "Als u dat had gewild had u dat kunnen bestellen". Oh maar dat staat niet op de menu kaart! "Dat kunt u altijd vragen". Wij doen dit al 25 jaar zo en weg was ze de vriendelijke gastvrouw NOT Was daarom de rest van het restaurant leeg?? Heel dit bizar dit.

Food was very good, but service took ages. They only brought the food menu after bringing the drinks, which already took some time, and I'd say we then waited around 30mins for the food. I believe the kitchen was quite busy and that might have been the reason, but could have mentioned it. Would recommend, but bare in mind that it could take some time...

We hebben er gisteravond voor de tweede keer gegeten. Alleen al de omgeving is prachtig. Je kunt er zowel buiten als binnen zitten, de sfeer is goed. Zowel de kabeljauw als de eendenborst smaakten heerlijk. Borden mooi opgemaakt, lekkere frietjes erbij, en heerlijke wijnen.

Het restaurant was erg gezellig met een erg goede gastvrouw het eten was echter zeer teleurstellend. Ik had een Thaise salade die bleek te bestaan uit een berg rucola, twee tomaatjes en kipnuggets er was niks Thais aan. De frietjes en het voorgerecht waren ook zeer teleurstellend. Jammer!

Everything great. Luckily we had reserved, everything was fully booked. Therefore the waiting time was a little longer, but that was completely okay. The food was delicious and the wait was definitely worth it. There is a jumping cushion and a large meadow for the kids to run around on. Dogs are very welcome. All in all it was a really nice evening.
