Himalayan Kitchen Restaurant in Kinkerbuurt

Encontramos este restaurante por casualidad y tuvimos una noche fabulosa. Mi grupo de cuatro pidió diferentes artículos del variado menú. El pollo biriani era muy bueno, el thali era abundante, el pollo jalfrazi estaba ligeramente especiado, mientras que el caldo de fideos era exactamente lo que se necesitaba después de un largo paseo por Amsterdam. El servicio fue atento y amable. Para aquellos de ustedes que deciden que foodhallen es demasiado ruidoso y caótico, este lugar es un oasis de calma y sirve sabores bellamente equilibrados. Está a solo 2 minutos a pie de Foodhallen.

Very small, but the food and service were the best.the location is sort of hidden in the Ten katte market . Looks simple, but it's worth it, very good food!

Ate 3 delicious dishes. Of which the lamb and butter chicken stood out for me. Dishes are all full of flavour. I will definitely order here again!

Food was ok. For €23 I’d expect nice prawns in the curry. These were cheap frozen prawns that had no flavour. Momos were very good. I’d go back just for that

Estábamos buscando un lugar para nuestra última comida en Holanda. Encontré esto en Trip Advisor. Sonaba interesante. Nos encantó! Si fuéramos locales estaríamos yendo a menudo ya que su menú es extenso. El restaurante está un poco fuera del camino principal, pero realmente disfrutamos del paseo desde el centro de la ciudad. ¿Tal vez 15 minutos? Vale la pena. Llegamos a ver otra parte de Amsterdam y comer en un restaurante delicioso súper único. Los platos estaban llenos de sabor. Muchas cosas nuevas que probar. Tenemos 4 o 5 aperitivos para probar más cosas y eso funcionó muy bien. Nos quedamos impresionados en todos los grandes restaurantes que encontramos durante nuestras 2 semanas allí. ¡Muy recomendable! 😃

Very tasty food and great value, would definitely revisit on another trip. Only comment would be that they presumably tone down spice for white tourists. My 2 chilli rated meal, literally called chilli chicken was not remotely hot. If (when) I return I'll be sure to ask for a properly spiced dish as I was a little disappointed at that but still ate it as the taste was great.

We went to the food cart outside the restaurant. The pakora, pani puri and momos looked so got, but we got the kathi roll with paneer. It was incredibly flavorful, spicy, tangy and umami. Simply delicious and reasonably priced. Service was fast and friendly!

Had the most delicious meal here. So freshly prepared and beautifully presented. As a chicken lover , the meat was so tender and the spices complimented it perfectly. Service was impeccable. Friendly family run restaurant . Would most highly recommend 😊

This is by far our favourite restaurant in Amsterdam. Such amazing food, service and a very warm family-run atmosphere. Also priced incredibly reasonably for Amsterdam - we had a lot of food and wine flowing. Highly recommend!

Superbe restaurant ! On y mange très bien et le service est parfait ! Même si vous n'êtes pas venu pour la cuisine Himalayenne à Amsterdam, je pense que c'est vraiment une expérience à faire ! Attention il faut réserver car sinon il risque de ne pas y avoir de place pour vous PS : En tant qu'amateur de bière j'ai beaucoup apprécié la PILS qu'ils servent en bouteille alors que d'habitude j'ai beaucoup de mal à en boire !

At the start of the meal, I was served a delightful appetizer of homemade gyoza, which was exceptionally pleasing to the taste buds. Subsequently, for the main course, I enjoyed a Gurkha curry with fish, which was equally delectable.

Food is very tasty and takes you back to Nepal. If you want Himalayan food with non European spice than that’s it, you came to right restaurant

We had absolutely delicious prawn curry and some starters. The masala chai also did hit the spot. The people were very polite and pleasant to talk to and made us feel comfortable and welcomed.

My favourite place for a curry in Amsterdam

We were staying just around the corner when we stumbled upon this hidden gem in the market, where they sell delicious Nepalese and Indian snacks. One of the guys from the food truck invited us to their restaurant for dinner. From the outside, it didn't look very luxurious, but inside, it was awesome. The food was bursting with flavors. The Gorkha Warrior cocktail was incredible. You must try the Chicken Dumplings and Lamb Jhal Frezi with garlic naan. What a fantastic experience in this hidden gem! Never judge a restaurant by its looks. It's simply a wonderful place to enjoy a healthy and delicious meal.

Best food I've had in Amsterdam. Staff is super friendly and the guy running the place is working hard running a restaurant and working fulltime in data science to make sure his daughters get the best education. I had a great evening!

The food at this restaurant is incredibly authentic and bursting with flavor. We started with the Chicken Chilli Momos, which were absolutely delicious. The Gorkha Lamb Curry was incredibly tender, and paired perfectly with the garlic naan. It was a fantastic combination of flavors. Additionally, the selection of Nepalese wines and beers elevated our dining experience even further. Keep up the great work! We will definitely be returning and highly recommend this hidden gem. I had the vegan paratha, it was basically potatoes with 1 tbsp chickpeas. Wouldn’t order again.

Restaurant found through excellent reviews on TheFork, expectations completely satisfied! The staff was very kind throughout the dinner, at the end of the evening we reported that one of the dishes was a little too spicy for our tastes and they kindly offered us a typical yogurt-based drink to temper the palate, attention to the customer very high. Super recommended for lovers of this type of cuisine.

The food was just ok, nothing special about the food. We had lamb curry, the meat wasn't tender. The moma not on our taste. The naan bread is un salty, very basic.

This restaurant deserves 5 stars!!! It's been a long time since we had this much fun at a restaurant. The welcome, the service, the dishes, everything was perfect. Simply amazing. The staff was kind and welcoming. They took their time to offer us advice. Each dish we ordered was an explosion of flavours! Everything is fresh and homemade (up to the sauces!). We definitely recommend the Momos (both the chicken and the veggie versions), butter chicken and the tikka masala. We will definitely be back on our next visit to Amsterdam.

Delicious food in this small, friendly restaurant with specialties from India and more specifically the Himalayas. Everything neatly arranged, well-seasoned and very affordable. Recommended!

This place is a hidden gem, especially if you are not from the neighbourhood. First time we ate Nepalese and it eas fantastic. Service is excellent, very friendly host who knows how to deal with little rascals. The food is fantastic and the atmosphere is great. We were very happy that we took the time to drive to that place and were not disappointed at all. If you happen to be in the neighbourhood, just give it a try.

The Jal freezi, Saag paneer and Nepalese soup are my favourites... Fantastic flavours. What makes this place extra special is the allergene menu and most of all, the service and care, so sincere, sweet and authentic that you cant believe they survive in a jungle like Amsterdam.

One of the best Nepalese meal, our favorite is momo chicken, the taste is very authentic reminding us to our trip to Nepal in 2015. We ordered several times, However, online delivery service wasn't the best. But we received a mango lasi drink bonus which was amazing !! I would recommend to eat in the restaurant or pick-up your own food. Overall everything is great ✨

Goed Nepalees eten voor een schappelijke prijs. Je kunt hier heerlijk zitten, want zodra je binnen zit komt het heerlijke aroma van Nepal en Noord-Indiase keuken je tegemoet. Persoonlijk begin ik vaak als voorafje met een 'mango lassi', maar het staat je vrij om van alles te laten serveren als aperitiefje. En dan .. smullen maar ..

Had Chicken Biryani and Samosas. Loved the food! One of the best biryanis I have had in Europe. We asked to make it spicy and they delivered. The samosa was also really good.

I travelled to Nepal in 2013 and tasted momos back then, I never got to taste them again till I traveled to Amsterdam recently. The taste is immaculate. I would definitely eat here again when I’m in Amsterdam.

On a visit to Amsterdam the Himalayan Kitchen was a fortuitous find. Across the street from where we’re staying it was a life saver after a long day of travel and being in need of some food. Delicious, affordable, and with an amazingly friendly staff this restaurant is great. We had Ahloo gohbi, Chicken Tika Masala, and dumplings I think called momo. It was so good we went back a few days later. When I return to Amsterdam I’m making sure to come by Himalayan Kitchen to be delighted again.

got to know this place because of the kind staff from the stall at ten kate market. it was a really great experience since i haven't been to a himalayan restaurant before. we ordered and tried lots of unfamiliar dishes and flavours and it didn't disappoint at all! and the mango lassi is just the best the staff was very friendly in helping with what to choose. it was a success!

Amazing food and staff was very kind. I got prawn vindaloo and garlic naan. They kindly let me know the vindaloo is spicy but I think it was just perfect and not too hot at all (I am Thai and eat spicy food on the regular). The portion was (with the extra naan) big enough to share with my boyfriend, tho neither of us was starving so keep that in mind. Would definitely recommend the vindaloo. Definitely coming back again and will be trying other dishes too 🫶🏼💕

I can't critique this place, the service was really nice and personal, the staff talked to us about Nepal and gave us recommendations on what food to eat. The food was really good, the veggie dumplings were legitimately the best dumplings I've ever had. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant!

10/10 lamb curry and garlic cheese naan. Curry spicy and tasty. Lamb tender. Naan soft and aromatic, tasting better than what I paid twice the price for in San Francisco. Wish I had stomach to try the butter chicken (can be made sweet or spicy). Staff was very friendly. Love the vibe and incense here, too. Good stop for dinner/lunch if you are visiting Foodhallen.

Very disappointed with the food. Chowmeins were soaked in oil. Momos were also Tasteless.

The place is very small and dark , so it’s quite noisy when people talk loud , the food was decent but nothing that special, price wise with the quantity, don’t think it’s a good deal.
