Great Indian restaurant! We enjoyed ourselves

I have been there on Easter Friday and in spite of the rush, they were so kind and hospitable that we (family of 3) got a place within a short notice. The food was super delicious and if somebody in Amsterdam is looking for an authentic desi taste, this is a must visit. Much better taste than the other popular Indian Restaurants in the town.

Very disappointed with my visit to Sita restaurant in Amsterdam. The atmosphere was completely unprofessional, and the staff displayed a very unfriendly attitude. The food was far below expectations — the samosas were cold from the inside, as if taken straight from the freezer and not properly cooked. Even the naan was half raw. Sadly, I won't be coming back. Very disappointed in my visit to restaurant Sita in Amsterdam. The atmosphere was totally unprofessional and the staff had a very unfriendly attitude. What an address!! An evening of pleasure. In addition to having hearty and very good meals, the manager of the business is incredibly kind. Always smiling and friendly, he makes sure you have an excellent evening. The meal to share for 2 is superb with excellent value for money! Don’t miss the address and thank you again to the manager for his kindness!

Had a delicious meal before a concert in the Concertgebouw, which is just opposite. Fast, friendly service. Simple decor, casual atmosphere. Note: for a vegan like me there was also a wide choice :-)

A great restaurant near the Concertgebouw. The decor is dated but the food is tasty and plentiful. The service wasn't very fast, but we had the time so that wasn't a problem.

We were there for the second time and we enjoyed it very much again. We thoroughly enjoyed the fragrant Indian dishes and, in our opinion, the excellent quality-price ratio!

We had a great vegetarian 3 course menu, with soup, rice, naan, 2 currys en best of all: the tandori veggies were so good! Prices are very reasonable for this part of Amsterdam. Great place, friendly staff.

Admittedly we chose this place because it was late at night and it was open and near our hotel. The food was very good and the service too. Wish they sold the sauce that came with the Chicken Mo Mo — it was so yum!

So good that we went twice in 2 days - small family restuarant and this tops a lot of the good Indian restaurants in London. Well done!! You can tell its so fresh by the taste - masala was on point. Naan so fresh!!

I had an amazing experience at this Indian restaurant in the Netherlands! I ordered the vegetable biryani, and it was absolutely perfect—fragrant, flavorful, and cooked to perfection with the right blend of spices. The portion size was generous, and every bite was delicious. The staff was incredibly kind, welcoming, and attentive, making the experience even better. TDLR: this is a tourist trap with subapr food that is likely not cooked fresh. Learn from my mistake and eat at one of the 3 restaurants mere meters from this spot, but not here. As I say in the restaurant having eaten perhaps a fraction of all that was served to me, I wondered how this restaurant is even viable. It must be a front for the mafia, I thought to myself. Across the street sat Anjappar restaurant, arguably the most successful restaurant serving Indian cuisine that's always jam packed, unfortunately it closes at 2130, and Sita is open till midnight. I presume many come here from the tourist stream who wander off museumplein hungry and disoriented. Or those who come seeking Anjappar, and come to Sita thinking it's must be somewhat similar - after all the food 'sounds' similar. It couldn't be further from the truth. The food was abysmal, all dishes are recycled versions of the same 3-4 dishes. Because the restaurant gets such low footfall, I expect that turnover is limited and they likely reuse the same dishes. the special chicken (choloyya something) is a basically a tandoori chicken breast - sliced and tossed with some white onion. The other curries are either a watered down 'spin-off' from butter chicken or another a watered down version of 'rogan josh'. This is NOT Nepalese or indian cuisine. This is lazy cooking by people who are here to milk the tourists. The restaurant scene is Amsterdam is far too competitive for such a terrible product to survive in the market. Unless, of course, the mafia is subsidizing them ;). Please do yourself a favour dear reader, and eat at the excellent restaurants mere meters from this spot - Esh Pita bar, or Anjappar or even the good old Wildschut cafe have a far far far superior quality compared to this sorry excuse of a spot.

New year's eve was very busy with an amazing number of people trying to get seated that hadn't booked. 1 more member of staff would have helped the staff so much. That aside, the food and staff were both fantastic.

This was a perfect dinner to end our first day in Amsterdam after a red eye flight. The veggie momos were tasty, as was the vegan soup (not remembering what the name of it was) and the papadums! Thank you. Super cozy.

Just before entering, the enticing aroma from the kitchen greeted us warmly, setting the tone for what turned out to be an incredible dining experience. The staff were not only professional but genuinely warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home. The food was delicious. I ordered a Nepalese specialty chicken dish (the chef’s special) that came with a vegetable curry, I ordered garlic naan and tried the aloo paneer. Every bite was a delight, I literally left no crumbs behind! As a dessert person, the highlight for me was the homemade mango kulfi!!! I might have even used my finger to scoop up every last bit of its yumminess. Oh and the kheer was also very tasty

We had a delicious meal at Sita. Fine dishes. Smooth operation. Somewhat cramped space when busy. But other than that there is nothing to complain about.

Late lunch in Sita so only appetizers. Chicken MoMos with external curry sauce were truly superb with beautiful soft taste. My lentil chicken soup was in balance with flavours. Lamb kebab was very delicious and softly scharf, nicely presented with small cut vegetables. Food 5 stars. Great food with good wine, together with peaceful family atmosphere and friendly service. Will visit again.

It's a charming restaurant, cozy and good service. We were a table of 4 and ordered the pre-fix family menu. It took a while before we got the food. The appetizers were tasty, but when the main dishes arrived, we felt that we were already half full, and there were a lot of dishes to try! The entire pre-fix menu was Indian, and i was a bit disappointed that none of the Nepalese dishes were mixed in there as well Overall delicious dinner!

Gotten takeaway from here a bunch of times, it’s always been excellent. But I just ate in and tried the chefs special the chicken chhoyola and honestly it was so good that half way through i started thinking about how wild it is we taste things and I don’t generally do that during a meal so I’d say that’s a pretty good sign

Bu Hao holds. There are no white teeth on the opposite side. And it’s a bit ghostly. The curry was not overcooked, it was still Shi Geng's. Just go to the restaurant opposite 🇮🇳 to eat. You have to wait for a table at that restaurant. After eating at this restaurant for two hours, there were only a few guests at the table.

Walked in and had a lovely lunch at Sita to try some Nepalese dishes. The Chicken Momo and Chhoyola lamb were highlights and very delicious. We sat outside also to enjoy the atmosphere and nice weather. Give it a try!

A quiet little curry house, the food was pleasant, nothing special, if anything a bit of a disappointment after reading reviews about how it’s the best curry ever. The food was pleasant but pretty average as curries go, maybe the jalfrezi is the wrong thing to order here.

Amsterdam has its museums - ok, you don't want to miss them (pre-order tickets!), but you MUST not miss Sita. The best Indian food of my/our life (and I've been to a few, including in London)!!! Chicken Tikka Tandoori, a dream! Chicken Tikka Masala, delicious! Butter Chicken, a poem! An absolute must and definitely worth the price!

With each bite I couldn't wait for the next one and at the same time, I wished my stomach wasn't full so I could still eat! The symbiosis between Nepalese and Indian culinary art seduced me from the first scent! In addition, I can only be delighted with the smiling and attentive staff! I highly recommend you!

Simply magical meal. We travel from Bombay to Kathmandu with every bite of these wonderful and delicious dishes. The restaurant has a lot of charm even if the music is a little repetitive. The service is royal. The staff is very cheerful, absolutely perfect in every way. I highly recommend! 🤤

The meal was delicious. We came out late looking for some dinner, and Sita was open. The staff were friendly and the meat was sizzling when it came out. There was a hot plate to keep the food warm, and the dinner plates were warmed also. It was such a great dining experience compared to some we have had recently. Highly recommend.

Delicious food. Several dishes, which are not usually found in Indian restaurants, including some from Nepalese cuisine. Rice is included in the price and the prices are very reasonable. It is possible to choose hotness level of a dish, what is also very unusual for Indian restaurants. The only disadvantage is that the food is halal, what means that meat comes from tortured animals slaughtered ritually. But there are many vegetarian dishes. I recommend vegetarian dumplings - they are insanely tasty.

Made a reservation and got positive confirmation. Unfortunately no table was ready. Waited 20min to be seated - drinks offered but never received. Waited more than 1 hour for the food. We clearly communicated that we had a concert starting 2 hours after the reservation time. Received reassurance that it wouldn’t be a problem. Asked several times for a time indication and only received general answers like it will be fine. The food was good but we only had 10 minutes left to eat. It was completely spoiled by the bad service. We were not the only ones whose beginning of the night was negatively impacted resulting in a general bad atmosphere.

Eating at Sita was a heady experience: from the moment you walk in, the delicious smells are almost overwhelming. You are greeted as if you are long, lost family, and promptly seated at whichever table happens to be the best one at the moment. The service is warm and genuine, and this is the only restaurant I’ve ever been to in Europe, where they believe me when I say “I like spicy“. We eat Indian food quite regularly at home and when we travel, and I can honestly say this is the best I’ve ever had, anywhere in the world. (Although I haven’t been to India, which of course should be the benchmark.) Everything was simply perfect. Each of the sauces and chutneys was vibrant and tasted exactly as it should, and the grilled meats were tender and succulent. The variety appetizer is an excellent selection to allow you to taste several things, as is the mixed tandoori, which was my dinner choice. My son had a lamb dish he had never tried before, and it was also excellent.. The portions are quite large overall. There is a decent wine selection, if you like wine with your Indian food. The food is brought to you on warming trays so that it stays hot. This restaurant is within walking distance of our hotel, and I am pretty sure we will go back during this four day stay. In other words: HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!!

The food is great and the service is amazing. My son has a tree nut allergy and they were very helpful and made sure all the food was nut free. They even brought out an extra nut free curry so my son could try it. Great place!

Good experience. Very varied menu and very good food. I had lunch here with a friend and we both had a great time. The service is fast and the staff is helpful. The dishes are not too heavy even for those who are not used to this type of cuisine. The place itself is nice but not very well kept. I recommend trying it.

Great food, excellent service and a warm and cosy atmosphere. I ordered the butter chicken with Peshwari naan and it was fabulous. Only dropped a star as the starter (chicken mo mo) was a little rubbery in texture and the sauce didn’t quite match (and was very cold). Otherwise, an excellent meal. Will definitely be returning. Clean and tidy inside.

Very delicious food, my first time trying Nepalese food and it was perfect! Highly recommend the Mo:Mo’s and the soups, really warm you up as an entry but can also be the entire meal if you want to! Try the Gurkha beer!

My favourite place for Indian food in Amsterdam. I’m regularly here with a close friend, who also loves this place, but sometimes by myself with a good book. The highlight is definitely the super tasty menu, which has never disappointed me, but the staff and the atmosphere are also a delight. I normally get a different dish in each visit, and my stomach is always very satisfied. I plan to bring other friends to also enjoy this Indian culinary gem in Amsterdam. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We ended up here without making a reservation. This was possible at 5 p.m., but less than an hour later there was a storm. It got busy. The tables are placed very close together. The room smells old and musty. The food was okay. Order: chana masala, jalfrezi, sizzling plate naan and rice. Nothing special The food had taste.

Excellent cuisine, menu for 2 at 55€👍 (easy for 3). Mastery of the dosage of spices and pepper (it doesn't burn your face) but you have the feeling of heat. The restaurant is quiet for an evening alone, it’s ideal 👍👍
