H.Murray's Amsterdam in Burgwallen-Oude Zijde

Went to this absolute gem of a bar in Amsterdam. It was fantastic. The member of staff l, Dustin, was funny, friendly and very polite. The pub has a lovely atmosphere and the beer was top notch to boot. Faultless. As pubs should be👍👍👍👍👍

We always loved coming here and have been here at least five times now. We were always very satisfied with the service and the drinks. Tonight it was busy, which wasn't a problem for us at all, as we're used to it here. We sat down at a table but weren't helped for a long time, even though we had been served at our table all our previous times. We soon noticed that people were talking about us to other guests, with comments like "it's a waiting game and I'm not dodging." When we asked what was going on and why they were talking about us behind our backs, we were addressed in a condescending and disrespectful manner, saying we didn't know how a bar works (even though we've been here many times, but okay...). Then we were openly ridiculed again in front of other guests at the bar. If they had simply told us to order at the bar because it was busy, we would have completely understood. However, it wasn't about being busy, but about respect. This was the last time we went. It's a real shame. And the previous reviews that the bartender would be arrogant, that is correct.

Luna is literally the best. I never give reviews but she earns one. It was really rustig but she made the party 🎈

The best thing about this bar is ITS OWNER, who works behind the bar. And if you're not the owner, I wish you were. You gave my dad one of the best moments of his life; I've never seen him so happy. Thanks for the glass and for your passion for whisky. Come on over, I hope everyone has as good a time as we did.

V nice bar with excellent low lighting and really friendly / efficient bar maid. Good music playing too. Very good cold Jenever and very cold beer which is dangerously good combo. Another gem in the middle of tourist zone but still great.

Extremely arrogant bartender, immediately chased us out because we wanted to order.

The perfect Irish pub. Great people, good beer and Luna the bartender was awesome (helpful local tips and friendly advice). I didn’t try any of the 200 whiskies but they sell a good local IPA and draught Guinness. I met a lovely couple from the West of Ireland, who had some hilarious stories. Good music as well. I’ll be returning tomorrow. Update - Sven also works here and is equally great at his job. It’s tough work running a bar on your own, but he does so with ease. Ask him about whisky or bourbon as he’ll introduce you to something stunning that suits your tastes. I adored the quarter cask Laphroiag he suggested. Thank you Sven!

I'm going to use a phrase I saw in the comments, but that's exactly it: a calm and typical Irish haven amidst the hustle and bustle of Amsterdam. Everything is perfect!

Stayed few days in Amsterdam and didn’t looking for the best place but accidentally I found it.

Murry’s in Amsterdam is a hidden gem! An intimate venue with a brilliant atmosphere and some of the best pints in the city. The vibe is relaxed but full of character, and the service was top-notch — our waitress was fantastic, friendly, and really made the experience. Perfect spot for a few drinks and great conversation. Highly recommend!

Aesthetically pleasing pub but terrible, egotistical, obnoxious Dutch bar man. Watched him be cringeworthy rude to several customers, maybe he was having a bad day or something but you simply cannot act in such a manner, killed the atmosphere completely, many customers around us all commented on his bad attitude & ended up emptying the establishment. We won’t be returning that’s for sure, shame.

Lovely little pub. Great staff. We particularly liked the dog ‘Peaches’. Good pint of Guinness and nice wine.

In regards to the previous review left by ignorant americans, I am the bartender in question. I am not scottish I am Danish and Bosnian Serbian. I kindly explained why we don't do "irish car bomb" shots as we are irish owned and we respect the irish who died in their fight for freedom and everyone Irish who have lost someone in the troubles (where over 4.000 people died and almost 50.00 were injured - but I know some Americans struggle with understanding history, even when it is politely and simply explained). When one of them snickered, I explained that ordering a car bomb in an irish bar is as offensive as ordering a 9/11 in an american bar. These costumers smiled, said okay, stayed for a second round, seemed happy and never asked clarifying questions. These Americans clearly don't know their history. Instead of asking questions they left a comically wrong review. We support the irish and that is exactly why we don't make irish car bombs. It could have easily been cleared up. If you say "up the RA" in you review you really should know not to order a carbomb? Try going to Ireland and ordering an 'irish car bomb", let me know how it goes. Ignorance is tragically funny sometimes. - Kind regards, the Danish/Bosnian Serbian bartender with Irish owners, irish boyfriend, irish friends, irish colleagues and regulars, who wrote her thesis on Irish resistance during the troubles and played rebel songs while you were in the bar :)

Walked in, tried to order a drink and got lectured by the Scottish bartender about how it’s an offensive name for a drink. She immediately compared it to 9/11, an event where nearly 3000 people died to a series of events over 30 years where 300 people died. Maybe if her ancestors didn’t colonize an island they had no business being in the first place it never would’ve happened. Up the RA!

Absolutely lovely little bar with a great selection of whiskeys and a nice range of beers on tap. They do a decent Guinness. Sven the bartender is always very friendly and professional, would definitely recommend H.Murrays!

I have to say this Pub is my new favourite. I’m recommending you give it a visit.. the staff Sven and Luna were exceptional … entertaining, fun and professional. 10/10. Looking forward to my next visit. Stay cool guys.

Dropped in here as we're in town and fancied a drink in a bar without eating. We love this place. Peaches was a delight to meet. 🐾Chatted to Brian (owner). Highly recommended!! It’s a great bar to have some whiskeys/beer/cocktails. Luna helped us very well! Other pubs are noisy and hectic, but this is a great place for couples or friends to come and have a drink with moderate noise and a good atmosphere. No food!

Good bar, nice bartender/owner and a cozy place. I don't know who was working on 3 november.... it she couldn't manage, there was enough space for 8 more people..... tables for 2 where empty and we with 4 had no seats.... bad experience..... if the owner is there it's better

It's a very small bar, but a lovely vibe in there. The Irish bartender was friendly and welcoming. He had to change the barrel for my first one, which he happily did and then brought over to me. I got a nice seat by the window and drank a few beers while my wife accompanied me with her soft drinks.

It's my favorite spot when I came to the central station. My favorite tap beer is the Red-distinct ale. Very kind and fully experienced staff are welcomeing visitors who love beer, whiskey, etc.

Lovely little Irish pub with great atmosphere - staff and regulars friendly and welcoming and the Guinness there travelled exceptionally well. Had a great time here on a layover between flights and really wished we could have stayed longer! Thanks to the bartender and regulars for their stories (and to Peaches, the bartender’s dog, for being so cute and friendly!!). Looking forward to coming back!

As many others said.. brilliant. The perfect little bar for a nice drink. None of the crazy you don’t want, and all the good things like amazing staff, great selection of beer and other drinks (crystal goblets for your Gin!) Good tunes, tasty decor, perfect. It’d be my local if I could live here.

This was.a fantastic bar. The bartender was lovely to our group, giving great recommendations and serving up one of the best Guinness's I've had outside of Ireland. I would absolutely recommend this bar to anyone looking for a drink near Amsterdam Centraal Station.

Please don’t stand behind the guys counter, he just insulted our friend and observed drinking behind the bar. Insulted in such a way that he would call the cops for just standing behind the counter and doing nothing. If guests are insulted in this manner I highly recommend to avoid this place. I doubt if the guy speaks to his women at home.

Lovely Bar in the centre of Amsterdam. It was not very crowded and the atmosphere in the bar was very welcoming. Peaches is the barkeepers dog, who of course is the main character and makes the bar feeling even nicer.

Great feel to the place, amazing selection of whiskey from everywhere, and a generally intriguing selection of spirits overall. The location was in the mix, but on the fringe, so perfect for a quick or longer stop.

We just visited this bar to try a new Whiskey, and we loved it. The whiskey collection aside, which was incredible, the Bartender was a super friendly and wonderful man who shared his experience with us and suggested a unique whiskey based on our interests and preferences. The suggested whisky was TOP-NOTCH ...!! We'll definitely come back for new experiences. (Ps. The music was a little loud, so everyone had to speak louder and louder at some point)

I had the misfortunate to visit this establishment on Thursday 26th October 2023 when Villa were playing in the Europa Conference in AZ Alkmarr. After calling several male friends into the bar who all purchased a couple of pints (who would not have gone into the pub without me calling them). Also talking to a fellow Villa fan from the Midlands who sat by me and purchased many drinks. Although I had purchased a brandy and 2 other drinks I was asked to leave asthe bar tenderer (manager) wanted to have more free spending customers in my seat. I was then left alone in a strange city on my own late at night to wait over an hour for my friend to return from the match. As a lady in her seventies who was still recovering from a broken hip I found this behaviour particularly uncaring and disgusting. I would warn anyone whom the bartender (manager) feels does not spend enough money would be in danger of being thrown out. I would point out I have never been treated anything lie this before.

No food is served here, its just a traditional pub!! The barman was very friendly and knew lots of local information which help plan our trip. The service in the bar was impeccable. The range of drinks was out of this world. If I return, I'll be back.
