Wonderful place to have lunch without any worries

The interior has fallen into disrepair, and hygiene is abysmal. The walls are stained and could use a fresh coat of paint. The (wooden) floors could use a scrub and a good cleaning. Dirty corners and skirting boards; we even thought we spotted some mice. I slipped on food scraps on the floor. What used to be a pleasant establishment is now a chaotic place with many problems. Ugh.

I went there on a quiet Wednesday afternoon. There were two very attentive and friendly women. Great coffee!!! I'll definitely be back, highly recommended.

The food and the atmosphere are nice, but the service is slow and rude. Moreover, the order of arrival is not respected. It's a shame, because it could have been a much better experience.

We went for breakfast, which included one slice of ham for two people and a salad with browned edges. For €17-18 per person, you'd expect more. We were seated in the left-hand section, where the outside door was frequently left open by the staff (and other guests). After trying to close the door ourselves five times and asking the staff twice to close it, we finally gave up. The cake from the table next to us looked delicious, though. Nice interior. A missed opportunity, and we won't be back.

Centrally located. Very busy on a Sunday afternoon. Had to wait a bit for a table. The food is indeed very tasty. Fast and friendly service. The soap dispenser in the toilet was empty.

Spent days in Haarlem. This place is fantastic. Tucked away in the heart of the city in a historic courtyard. 10 stars for the courtyard.

The food was absolutely delicious! We enjoyed it, and it arrived on time. However, there was one small drawback that disappointed us… One of us is a vegetarian; she strictly doesn't eat meat. She ordered a cheese panini. After finishing 3/4 of it, she suddenly tasted ham… 👎 See the photo for proof. They probably accidentally made a ham and cheese panini, then saw it was just cheese and removed the ham. That was very unprofessional. It's a shame it happened this way, because otherwise, we were very enthusiastic!

What a terrible place. You reserve a high tea for six people during the Christmas market in October, and they cancel the reservation a day before, all in a joking manner. It's a very poor move. Reason being, because of the Christmas market. You already knew that in October, didn't you? Then you're sitting there a day in advance, everything arranged... Ridiculous. Just tell that to the person you're buying the gift for.

We had a delicious lunch at Hofjeshof. Despite the crowds at the Christmas market, the service was excellent. Highly recommended!

Our high tea was canceled a day in advance because it was too busy due to the Christmas market. We were supposed to have lunch? The high tea was reserved for my mother's 65th birthday because she loves high tea so much. The gentleman on the phone told me not to make a big deal about it. And it's called "Hofje zonder zorgen" (Worry-Free Courtyard).

What a lovely space this has become. We enjoyed a delicious lunch. Highly recommended.

We ordered a high tea to take home. Upon pickup, the gift voucher turned out to be insufficient. With great help from the staff, we were able to arrange everything. Everything was neatly prepared, with instructions included. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you very much. Definitely recommended.

Lovely, modern, stylish rooms. We had high tea. I thought it was a meager amount, but it was delicious. We had planned on three courses, and one course turned out to be a glass of soup. Unfortunately, the soup was in a glass with a large crack in it, which wasn't visible until I was halfway through. It's also a shame that they have such beautiful plates, but then serve the food on plates with broken rims. This detracts from the experience. I wouldn't have high tea there again, but I would love to try the lunch sandwiches the other guests made. They looked delicious too.

We had high tea there. It was truly delicious. We sat in the back room overlooking the courtyard, highly recommended.

We went here for the first time on November 8th and had a wonderful time. The food was amazing, but the service surpassed everything. The staff were always on their feet and still treated everyone kindly, even taking a moment to give extra attention. Thank you, we'll definitely be back.

First time having High Tea, highly recommended. They always explained what to expect, and it was plenty for two people. No waste. The only thing we didn't get was a glass of Prosecco. Otherwise, the service was very friendly.

It was delicious. Friendly people and a nice atmosphere. You can make your own tea. And if you can't finish it, you can take it with you. I can't have milk, and they take that into account and come sit with you. They'll also come if you have a gluten intolerance, for example. Best, Luun (I'm 9 years old)

Atmosphere obviously nice in the hustling center of Haarlem. Unfortunately, the wait staff have not been trained, have no idea where tables are positioned & ignore you when you try to get some attention (ordering/paying). Super disappointed with the eggs florentine (without salmon) came out with salmon on it, after informing the staff, they took it away and were back within 2 minutes with the florentine without salmon, which had aromas of fish smell still on it - had to swap dishes with my partner as the food took so long to come out it just wasn’t worth the hassle to wait for it to be properly made again as ordered. TLDR - they’re too busy for their own good unfortunately, focus on a system and training.

We had a bite to eat here during our day trip to Haarlem. It wasn't very busy, so the staff came quickly and were very friendly. The sandwiches and pastries we ordered were delicious. The cappuccino was tasty but unfortunately lukewarm. The prices were very reasonable!

Delicious sandwiches. The carrot cake had a wonderfully moist texture. The service could have done with better eye contact instead of focusing on the tables. Another drawback is that you have to queue to pay the bill, and it's not brought to your table.

If you appreciate terrible service, this is the place to be! The bartender was more occupied with her colleagues in the kitchen than helping out on the patio. They could have easily sold us three extra drinks in 20 minutes, and there were only two of us. Disgruntled, we went to the neighbors afterward.

Disappointing lunch. A salad with brown edges and a red soup with a bit of paprika in it. A stark contrast to the quality of the pies.

This doesn't live up to its name. Yesterday, I sat on the terrace for 20 minutes. It wasn't particularly busy, but it was fairly full. The staff walked by several times, made eye contact, but nothing else happened. No greeting, no request to wait, no one to take an order. I have no idea what the staff was doing, but as the owner, I would be quite concerned about this otherwise pleasant-looking courtyard.

This message is for the owner: you should (or even ‘have to!’) pay big attention to your service and kitchen. Rude unfriendly staff and tasteless food, what’s wrong with you!??

Very pleasant outdoor terrace. Unfortunately, the order took a very long time. The menu descriptions are also too flowery: eggs florentines with avocado and spinach salad, or rather, a little avocado spread and some spinach leaves.

Large terrace, so you might have to wait a while for your order. I suspect there aren't enough staff. The staff were very friendly, though.

When we entered there was actually no place, but after waiting for 5 minutes we were able to sit down. The tosti and the pulled chicken sandwiches were very tasty. We also did not have to wait long for the food despite the fact that it was full. A place to come back.

a bit of a weird take on eggs benedict.. not bad by any means but i wouldn't call it eggs benedict 🤷🏼‍♀️ the poached eggs were a bit weird as well, they consistency was more like hard boiled and the other one didnt even have a yolk :( bacon was super crispy though! and friendly service😇

Literally the most meager high tea I have ever had. The only thing that is not in the picture is a small soup in advance, which was also almost cold. The tea water was also constantly lukewarm. The fresh tea we got did not even soak into the water. I thought the lady serving came across as unfriendly. When one of my friends asked for an extra glass of prosecco she replied with an attitude "I was just standing here and then nobody wanted it" I was shocked. I thought to myself girl, you really don't say something like that out loud. I didn't say anything at the time, it was a birthday and we enjoyed the coziness but I really don't need to go here again. And I don't think the rest of our group either.

I was in Haarlem every week for work for 2 months. This was my regular address for a cup of cappucino oat milk. Pleasant staff, nice coffee, nice relaxing music and a quiet place to relax

Service too slow. Things went wrong at the entrance. We had to wait 5 minutes until we were assigned a table, while there were only 3 tables available (so it wasn't too busy, but the efficiency/alertness of the staff was not :( Cake was too dry/not fresh? And the coffee didn't taste good either. The whole experience/atmosphere was: once but never again.

The place without worries - found! I had the 'Tuna Melt'; a homemade tuna salad on toast, warm from the oven (half has already been eaten in the photo - apologies). Super tasty and just worth it - so enough for when you're hungry. Coffee also great; Americano and Cortado. The weather was wet and cold, but warm and comfortable inside, with a view of the medieval courtyard.

Had lunch and ordered red lentil soup. Found a piece of plastic in the soup. Didn't have to pay for the soup but the need to order something else disappeared.

Just had a High Tea, nothing good to say about it, everything was old and had just been pulled out of the freezer as if it had been made days in advance, then we both get terrible stomach complaints and then you walk to the staff for an explanation and they completely contradict you. and they are shouting at you they want to touch you and take you to a table rule 1 you don't just touch people if you don't know them then the gentleman rages even louder and shouts I'M STILL LOOKING FOR A SOLUTION FOR YOU a little hospitality goes a long way I never come here searching more back

We had a high tea. The food we got was tasty but nothing special. Too bad you don't get clotted cream/jam with the scones. Instead, there is a thin layer of mascarpone with jam on top. We were very disappointed with the service. I had asked in advance for 1 vegetarian high tea and reported this again upon arrival, but then we received all high teas with meat. In addition, we had planned the high tea at 3:00 PM. However, one person was slightly delayed (ultimately 5 minutes), but at 3:02 PM a waiter arrived to explain everything to us and then asked when the last person is coming 'because the food will arrive in 2 minutes, even if that person is still there. is not'. Of course I understand that it is annoying when guests are late, but this was very fast...

Nice tent. The toilet was busy and it was nice to all wait on the stairs.

Long waiting time. They came 3 times saying that they run out of the desserts we ordered. One of our dessert had a really bad presentation. It was brought broken into pieces with a weird argument that the taste was the same even if it looked like other people’s leftovers. They forgot to add the tea to one of our orders. They brought only oath milk without the tea 🤣.

nice place, apple pie tasty but service was slow. not busy, but took a long time. coffee in cold cup, scone didn't come through. 2-person waiting staff were having lunch themselves. what a shame. I won't come back here again. plenty of other nice places. I normally don't bother, but this really had to be done.

Bustling, popular, brunch/lunch/high tea restaurant off a cute square in Haarlem. We had the high tea which was really lovely. The food is fresh and delicious and the restaurant itself is lovely inside. It get's really busy so the service isn't always the quickest, but if you're not in a rush then that's not a problem, sit back and enjoy. Book in advance as it does get busy!

Quiche was tasty, tarts are also tasty. Just waiting almost 40 minutes for the order to arrive is a bit too much. Coffee had also become lukewarm. Saw it on the bar for 10 minutes.

The coke wasn't cold, they didn't have ice cubes, my glass was dirty, the cappucino wasn't tasty, the plate was dirty. Food took a long time, asked where it was. It looked like a container of curry had fallen into the egg salad. Service was very poor.

Had high tea here. Service was super friendly. Snacks didn't seem like much at first, but in the end it was surprisingly full. It is also a beautiful location with a view of the courtyard. Relaxed atmosphere and enjoyed it.

Food was fine, we thought we had booked lunch but this was a combination deal. This was not checked with us in advance. At first the waitresses were nice, but then I thought that they moved a bit nonchalantly close to you to put something on the table. It was fun, but not super special.

We had a wonderful lunch here and breakfast the next day in combination with a weekend away in Haarlem. The food is delicious, the service friendly and hospitable. The atmosphere is pleasant and you feel comfortable. We were in the back part. The only downside is the somewhat humid atmosphere and lack of any fresh air. I understand that this is one day due to the rainy weather, but this was still the case the next day. All in all, I would definitely recommend Hof without any worries.

The place is really beautiful and well-kept like everything in Haarlem, the brunch seems rich and very good. My boyfriend had a very good croissant, I had the gluten-free cake. Improved cappuccino 😊

The welcome was nice and the restaurant also looks good, nice to look out onto the inner garden. However, we were disappointed with the service. The employee found the requests we made extremely difficult, as her body language clearly showed. After we had eaten, we were not even asked if we were satisfied. To be honest, I've never experienced that before. With great difficulty we were allowed another cup of cappuccino. The order in which the lunch dishes were served is special. First three tables that came in later than us. So it took a while... The restaurant has a lot of potential to be a good one, but the young lady who served us still has a lot to learn. A mistake is not bad at all, like dirty cutlery. It's about how you solve it. For example, an apology would be appropriate in this case. First and last time for us.

Had a nice lunch here! Delicious poached eggs with hollandaise sauce, avocado and bacon. And various choices of tea and other drinks.

Wouldn't know how the food is, because twice I went to eat, twice they left me sitting for more than 15 minutes without even an acknowledgment, clearing plates from the half empty room and chatting with each other instead, but the excuse when I mentioned I was waiting but ready to order, was that it was too busy. The staff - twice now- just went into defensive mode, so twice I've left without eating. Read the other reviews, this has happened to others. I'm not sure if they hate kids or expats, but it takes so little to just be kind, that I really don't get it. Will never try again.

We zijn hier eerder geweest en dat was altijd prima. Nu was er kerstmarkt in Haarlem en we wilden koffie met wat lekkers. Toen we binnenkwamen was het niet afgeladen vol. Er waren nog lege tafels. Ook liep er aardig wat personeel rond, mijn verwachting was dan ook dat we snel aan de beurt zouden zijn. Lange tijd kwam er niemand de bestelling opnemen en we waren bijna weer vertrokken. We bestelden 2 koffie, een scone en bananenbrood. De koffie en het bananenbrood kwamen vlot. De scone liet nog op zich wachten, die moest uit de keuken komen. Tot 2 keer toe werd er gevraagd of alles naar wens was. Dat was niet zo meldde ik want we misten nog een scone. Inmiddels was de koffie en het bananenbrood op. Toen kwam de scone pas, mensen die later waren gekomen dan wij kregen al wel een scone. Of we nog koffie wilden bestellen werd gevraagd, maar dat wilden we niet. Bij het afrekenen werd ook weer, bijna plichtmatig, gevraagd of alles naar wens was geweest. Ik gaf aan van niet. De medewerksters reactie was dat ze het zou doorgeven voor de volgende keer maar ik denk dat die er niet echt gaat komen.

Hofje zonder Zorgen heeft zijn naam helemaal waargemaakt door op locatie een uitstekende High Tea te serveren voor 35 personen. Kort voor-gesprekje gehad en alles is perfect uitgevoerd. Mijn gasten waren allemaal enthousiast over het gebodene: ruim voldoende sandwiches, goed gevarieerd, diverse heerlijke zoete gerechtjes. Voor enkele vega gasten zijn aparte gerechtjes opgediend. Uitstekend. Voor herhaling vatbaar.

Erg leuke plaats voor lunch, koffie of thee met taart of zelfs high tea. Gelegen aan een van de mooiste hofjes van Haarlem in de binnenstad.

Erg leuke plek waar we met een vriendengroep je hebben koffie gedronken. Ik ga hier zeker nog een keer naartoe.

Achterin kun je zitten met uitzicht op hofje. Echt prachtig. Eten perfect.

Gisteren geluncht met een vriendin. Was erg lekker en gezellig. We hadden leuk uitzicht op het hofje wat erachter ligt.
