Anne&Max Haarlem in Oude Stad

I arrived at 7:55 and was greeted warmly. After that, I didn't see anyone else. I saw that it didn't open until 8:00, so I waited patiently and placed my order using the QR code. At 8:10, someone came over to tell me that the barista was running late and therefore couldn't make my coffee. It's worth mentioning that I'd just ordered a simple filter coffee. The sandwich I ordered hadn't even been started yet. I decided to seek my salvation (coffee) elsewhere. Don't you teach all your employees how to work the coffee machine in a coffee shop?

Price/performance is a disgrace. Ordered via mobile phone, drinks arrived after about 15 minutes - the food after 70 minutes!! Breakfast for two people plus piri-piri focaccia. Breakfast was okay (for €38, but completely overpriced), the €13 focaccia was truly disgraceful because it was dry and old. Standard answer to all questions: it's busy right now, I'll take a look. Sorry: when it comes to price vs. service/food, I can only advise against it!

First time at Anne & Max's, what a cozy atmosphere! Perfect spot for a cup of coffee, tea, and of course, a delicious piece of cake 😋

We had the lunch for two. It looked great in the photos. But our platter was very sparse; it seemed like they'd forgotten something... just 3 very thin slices of bread for the two of us, 2 soups, some dips, a very small bowl of egg with salmon and salad, and a burrata with salad. No savory toppings as listed on the menu, and far too little bread. Very disappointing for the price.

Fresh, warm croissants, vegan options available aswell as delicious fresh orange juice, and excellent coffee. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, and the staff are incredibly friendly and attentive. You can really feel how much effort they put in. A very enjoyable place to relax and feel a little at home. Everything for its price tho.

The apple pie came out of the freezer, was still slightly frozen in the middle, and tasted watery. A real shame. The iced tea was okay, and the service was very friendly.

Nice and well-maintained. The food is excellent. Ordering via QR code. I still find it impersonal! The menu isn't very clear because of that.

Had a great lunch at Anne&Max today. Got great service and alternatives when a gluten free sandwich was not available. Food was amazing. Would definitely recommend.

We visited the Ten Boomhuis museum nearby and went for lunch. Ordered gluten free. The service, the food, the friendliest waitresses....... This place stole our hearts. As a visitor from South Africa, I will highly recommend ANNA&MAX.

02/02/25 New local Grote Markt 5 : I am disappointed with the quality of service, for the first cappuccino I waited 20 minutes, for the second cappuccino I waited another 18 minutes, this is strange. The coffee is quite tasty, although very weak, the foam in the cappuccino is also not very interesting. But the atmosphere is great, the place is very nicely and pleasantly decorated, the outside terrace provides wonderful views of the Haarlem market, where in the morning the rising sun warms you nicely. 2019 old local-Wspaniale urządzone wnętrze, klimat wydaje się być całkiem przykemny. Kelnerki niezbyt miłe, i cappuccino na wynos wykonane bardzo niestarannie .

The super club cannot be beaten

Good drinks and delicious cakes. Drinks are a bit pricey, though, and the patio is a bit cramped.

If your coffee order never arrives and no staff member checks it while you're sitting down, don't go if you don't want your trip ruined.

Anne&Max is known for their cozy living room coffee place, but this particular location gets pretty crowded, especially in the weekend. Don't get me wrong, I love the cozy home-like atmosphere, but the tables can be placed a little farther apart to give everyone some personal space. Every dish of them I tried was pretty tasty. Their 'bacon' made of coconut stays my favorite though! The coffee tastes of good quality, and it's actually the first restaurant I went were I didn't pay extra for oat milk, Thank you :) !!

Sat here on the terrace with my granddaughter and had a nice drink and a bite to eat together.

Ordered a dream croissant: the croissant was good, the rest was terrible. A handful of dry arugula (!) in between, a tasteless piece of scrambled egg (not even salt or pepper in/on it), a few pieces of canned salmon, also tasteless. Three times nothing, for €10.50. What an insult.

Delicious coffee. Good atmosphere. Beautiful place. Service was unusually slow. Taking a little rest is okay. But not seeing for fifteen minutes makes you restless.

I thought it was a nice little place, but the food selection was limited and very average. The club sandwich was fine but nothing special. For over 14 euros, I expected more. I found it particularly overpriced.

Best sandwich I have ever had!!! I don’t write reviews often but I could not leave without shouting my praise for the sandwich I had at this restaurant. My wife and I stopped by chance she got a salad and was very happy but enough about the salad this is about the sandwich. It had the perfect balance of fresh bread and crust crunch, perfect amount of filling and did not fall apart on the first bite. The staff were nice but it’s not about them it’s about the best sandwich I have ever had. I am 56 years old and have had my fill of sandwiches but this was truly the best ever.

Second breakfast in Harleem. Omg. Croissants are yums! So well baked 🤩 Ambience and vibe are 10/10. I’m loving it, very small and chilly town with friendly people around!

What we ordered was delicious. The service was not great when we arrived. First, someone showed up while we hadn't even looked at the menu (after a minute), then no one came by. After fifteen minutes, we waved. Other people sat there even longer and then left. The terrace lacked atmosphere; it could be more inviting.

We had a wonderful breakfast, with a wide selection on the menu. The staff were friendly and helpful! We highly recommend Anne&Max! ♡

We went for high tea, and it was excellent. It seemed small, but it was more than enough. The food was good, and the service was also good. There was just one minor drawback this afternoon: there was no white wine, which had been completely consumed the night before. So I thought, why not just get some white wine from the liquor store or grocery store? That was a slight drawback, but otherwise it was excellent, including the service from the hostesses.

Your espresso tonic is honestly criminal 🤢, it’s also really unfortunate I cannot order with a person but have to use the QR codes which was not very clear. We waited for several minutes and were completely ignored by staff, they also made it difficult to pay because no one is looking at your table. Honestly with city that has so many great coffee places this is not it.

Well, this one was a bit of a disappointment. It took ages for anyone to say "hello" when we got inside. Then we got our high tea, which came with a leaky thermos and a large wooden platter with everything on it. We got a new one. And everything was okay, really. But it seemed like it had been prepared earlier, and the food wasn't anything special. No chocolates or anything else. They did have fresh iced tea, which was delicious. The white tea was also good. No one came to ask if everything was to our liking. And all around us, tables were regularly left uncleared.

Very good - excellent croissants Relaxing

Ordered a lunch platter. Soup, salad, scrambled eggs, bread, spreads, cheese, and cold cuts. I found the bread a bit lacking. And no real high-end dishes. No butter, and if you ask for it, you get a €1 charge. A small bottle of sparkling water is listed on the menu and in the app for €2.75, and the bill is €3.25. Too bad, perhaps my expectations were too high.

We had booked high tea with friends. After booking, the dietitian put me on a diet that included no added sugars and no eggs. When the server asked if any dietary requirements needed to be taken into account, I didn't mention them until the moment they arrived. (I'd forgotten to mention them beforehand.) They even made me a delicious salad and rolls at the last minute. Thank you so much! Excellent service and incredibly delicious food. 😊

We had breakfast with four people on Saturday morning through a social deal. Reservations are recommended on Saturdays. The breakfast was very extensive, with many delicious breakfast options, tasty juices, and coffee. The service was super friendly and patient, even though it was incredibly busy. Highly recommended!

Good coffee but mediocre service.

Ordering online is very inconvenient, everything was put down 1 by 1 so that there was only 1 person eating at a time. The division of tasks was bad and you could see one of the waitresses working her way through the counter. The food itself was fine but that's about it. We won't be coming back here.

Saturday in Haarlem, invited to sit down on your terrace, first of all nice to know that I am welcome as a smoker with you. In the Netherlands, you have to think about what you order in the catering industry that nothing can be messed up. The 17(?) year old waitress at €11 per hour clearly could not handle the number of customers. After 20 minutes we asked and finally got our lukewarm coffee, tea, and cappuccino. What a miserable shop. It will not surprise you that the service is not even worth one star.

Bad experience, won't be back Staff doesn't pay attention at all. We had to wait 45 minutes (!) for a sandwich, while it wasn't even busy. On the terrace, everything went wrong and the salad was bone dry, they simply forgot the dressing. When paying, we also got the wrong receipt and therefore paid too much. When we pointed this out, the lady behind the counter literally said: "Then you shouldn't have paid if it wasn't correct." As if we could have known that - we hadn't even seen the receipt before paying. No apologies, just a blunt and smart attitude. Very unprofessional and unfriendly to customers. We will definitely not be coming back here

Very long wait for food 3 quarters. No dressing on salad with chicken you had to search for the chicken! Wrong products extra on the receipt. Disinterested staff

Bad, ordered 2 coffees, few customers, after waiting for more than 25 minutes still nothing served. Waitress looked at us with sheep eyes when we said something about this, but left the place without the coffee.

Not for the first time we have been completely ignored by the staff. At the old location this was a great place but unfortunately it has been going downhill for some time. Also last Saturday after waiting for about 15-20 minutes we left the terrace and that while there was nobody there. It was also quiet inside (only 2 customers). And the staff? They were chatting happily behind the bar. Such a shame.

After a very long wait, the wrong order was delivered and lukewarm cappuccino was returned twice. What a disgrace.

It was clearly Sunday morning. The friendly staff was slow and forgot for example the drinks that were ordered.

Booked a baby shower half a year ago, contacted by phone and email. Today we arrived with 20 people, nothing was arranged. We were in the basement without decoration, windows or air conditioning. Staff showed little initiative and we had to decorate ourselves and ask for air conditioning and some mood music. Not recommended to plan your baby shower here.

A nice location to sit and watch the world go by. Coffee and hot chocolate were good. The croissants were disappointing as we expected them to come heated. It was stone cold. Usually most places heat them automatically. We asked for butter and got charged an extra euro x2 for the privilege. Normally a plain croissant comes with butter as a given thing. The location was the best part of our experience.

Only place where you get a discount if you take oat milk in your coffee instead of 50 cents extra like almost everywhere. I think that's such a cool signal.

The drinks were lukewarm and weak. The last time I was here I ordered the same drink. TikTok/Instagram videos were being made next to us. Even though the staff was there, it was very disruptive and I personally don't think it's nice. They were sitting at the table next to us. At the very least they could have reported it and asked if it was okay. Or found another (quiet place) because we didn't want to be on camera. Really having a drink in peace was not an option. When paying I said that the drinks were weak and lukewarm and that we were being bothered by the filming. The employee just laughed and said nothing.

We had high tea today. We could sit outside on the terrace. Delicious high tea. The savory snacks and pancakes were favorites. It's strange that there were 2 pieces of cake for 3 people, while all the other snacks were for 3 people. The teapot was refilled upon request, but because we sat outside and hardly any staff came out, there was little attention paid to whether we wanted something to drink.

Nice for a coffee & pastry with a view over the market.

An excellent cafe with light lunches at reasonable prices (for the city center). Lemonades for approx. 4.00 euros, menu soup + salad for 10.50 euros, a portion of soup itself for 8.50 euros. The salad was incredibly good, I recommend the decision 👍🏻

Nice place! The things are very delicious, but they take time to bring the food compared to the drink. I finished my coffee before receiving the food.

Very nice place, great service :) But the food wasn't as good at it looked. I ordred a plate with different things like eggs and salmon, all they did was sprinkle a little salmon on the top of the eggs... very disappointing

Ordered via QR code then waited at least 10 minutes to ask if our order had been successful, it turned out that it had been ordered. After 20 minutes we asked again where our order was, someone came from behind the counter to ask what we had ordered and said he would be there shortly. After 25 minutes the waitress called again and at first she ignored us. Next time she comes through we will call her and tell her she can cancel the order. We just went somewhere other than for a good cup of coffee. Service leaves much to be desired. They won't see us there again, nor in other places.

Tables were not cleared. When we arrived we sat for quite some time looking at the remains of our predecessors' high tea. Called waitress, was supposed to arrive but then forgot. Food mediocre. The tomato soup "with sourdough bread" was with a very thin slice of white bread that tasted of nothing. Pesto with the soup was really necessary for some extra spice. Salad "Winter Day" is tasty. All in all, not really enthusiastic after this visit, but I had previously enjoyed visiting other Anne and Max's. We had hoped to find the same quality and atmosphere here again.

It’s a nice restaurant with a perfect location, especially when the weather is good you can enjoy your food in the sun on the market place with a view of the old cathedral. The first time I went there, I wanted to try their high tea. It was around 4:20pm and they said that it was too late as the kitchen was already closed. It was a pity as I had really been looking forward to that so I would recommend to book that in advance or just get there a bit earlier. The second time I went there, I had a vegan salad which was very good. It took some time though and I had to catch my train so I was a bit in a hurry to finish it in the end.

Where should I start? Coffee was lukewarm. Mushroom soup was watery and lukewarm. There was no taste and that is not possible if there is at most a pureed mushroom in it. The salad consisted of a loveless handful of arugula with a very sweet sauce, 3 half tomatoes and some slices of pickled, also very sweet, carrot. This is really an insult to your customer. What's wrong with you guys? The service is bad. I ordered another Spa red but that took too long. When I had already paid, the Spa still came in red. Although, it was not a real Spa red but an open bottle without a brand that contained bubble water. May Joost know where that came from, I felt cheated on all sides.

Very rustic, with attention to detail. Personally, there's a bit too much decoration and Klim Bim on the walls for me. Food was a bit too tasteless for the price.

Order via QR code on your table. That goes smoothly. Nice ladies, who you only see when delivering and paying. The Chai latte is delicious. Wide choice of mainly vegetarian dishes. I think the price-quality ratio is a bit skewed. But yes, you are on the Grote Markt in Haarlem. Please do something about the entrance doors, the 1st 2 rows of tables are constantly in drafts.

Very good coffee and sweets. Ordering with QR code - not my favourite. Long waiting time to be served. Staff not very efficient and during a peak moment the place is a mess with dirty cups/plates everywhere.

Very bad service. After a long time we asked if we could be served. It took a long time for the first drinks to come through, other hot drinks had been ready for quite some time, they were thrown away and new ones were made, extra whipped cream was not supplied. The girls walked around uncoordinated and were busy with something....

Pastries are tasty, coffee too, but not very hot. Service bad: long wait. Two old ladies ask if they have anything with their coffee: 'just look in the display case' (up the stairs).. Dirty dishes are left standing. They don't run very fast and don't seem to enjoy their work much

We wanted to start the day in a relaxed way with breakfast. Unfortunately, at the beginning I received stroppy and annoyed answers from the staff. We still ordered coffee and breakfast. Coffee was served quickly and also breakfast (unfortunately the egg was already cold). Unfortunately, the other breakfast never arrived at our table, so one person ate alone. Then we paid and left. Too bad.

Service not attentive, high prices, no clean toilet

High tea service was good, The only thing is that I would recommend that the waiters pay more attention to the tables, since they did not give us cutlery and napkins. Overall everything was good, for the price per person there was a variety of desserts and snacks.

Due to the fact that we are used to the location at the Style Outlet, we were not surprised by the quality of the food and drinks. It was okay, but nothing special. The atmosphere in the restaurant was much better than at The Style Outlets, which was very pleasant. The service was top notch at the start of our visit, a nice lady who brought us physical menus instead of the QR code on the table. Really makes it more personal. Our drinks arrived quickly and again were fine, nothing special. Unfortunately, we were no longer asked if everything was to our liking, even though we wanted something to drink. This was a shame, because this is where you miss out on turnover! So we walked to the bar on our own to pay. Overall it was a great experience and we would like to come back here (unlike the outlet).

We came for breakfast, the coffee is very good 👍 the breakfast is good but a little expensive, it is very nice to spend time in this beautiful Cafe in the square. I recommend this place for coffee.

I walked away after waiting 10 minutes at a table. Just wasn't served. The wait staff were either standing around talking or just walking by. For me this location is done.

Various lunch options are available in vegan variants. It tasted delicious. Friendly staff. We will definitely come back.

Very unclean cafe 10 a.m. very unclean service listless and cafe really inedible very sad unfortunately.

Early at 10 a.m. the table, chairs and floor were dirty. The toilet was dirty and no toilet paper. Cup of espresso still has old coffee residue at the bottom of the cup. I've never experienced anything like that in a coffee shop that really wasn't clean. A coffee that I'm still annoyed about having gone in to this day.

Would the ladies of Anne & Max leave the menus until 6:00 PM? So that Anne & Max's customers also eat and drink here after 5 p.m

Good place, cozy terrace and friendly, fast service. Only special beers and no regular lager is a bit of a shame, but if you keep drinking you will get over it. Nice place.!!

In a word “yuck”! I love vegan food but the caveat is I like food that also tastes good and compliments and enhances each other. The food and drink there is either flavorless or so unpleasant that it is inedible. I have high standards and taste buds, so so just calling it like it is.

Great food, but very slow service.

Food and drinks were very tasty. The carrot cake in particular was fantastic. We had the salmon sandwich. Unfortunately you didn't have any champagne for Aperol. Top location and inviting interior.

1/3 of our order was out of stock, the rim of the drinking glass was damaged and very sharp, the pink cake was tasteless. The staff does not realize that guests are watching in the kitchen, shoes were polished clean on the food preparation worktop

We waited for 30 minutes for someone to come after we said we had made reservations for high tea, but in the end we just left, which was a shame.

What a wonderful place to have something to eat/drink. Very relaxed atmosphere. Not a big menu but certainly tasty!
