Prachtige locatie, zeer sfeervol!! Alle ingrediënten qua ambiance voor een top avond. De gerechten, presentatie en smaken zijn perfect. We hebben volop genoten van alles.

A lovely spot for a cup of coffee or tea, and perhaps a meal. The restaurant is housed in the former peat colony museum, which previously housed the Veendam and Wildervank library (1913-1963). I only had tea there, so I can't comment on the food. The waitress was very friendly.

The schnitzel is a bit small for a schnitzel. But what's really unfortunate is that it was put in a pan that wasn't heated up yet. The result: breadcrumbs soaked with butter, making them soft instead of crispy. And consequently, a lukewarm schnitzel. The Caesar salad was a complete disaster: baby lettuce instead of romaine. Boiled eggs in it?? Chicken nuggets instead of roasted chicken breast. Parmesan flakes from a bag at the grocery store instead of freshly grated. Pale tomatoes (tomatoes??) even though it's the height of summer. And the dressing is sweet. Sugar instead of anchovies! Nothing like Caesar dressing at all. The croutons from a can: hard and tasteless. The Mexican stir-fry didn't have anything stir-fried in it. The chicken thighs were whole pieces of roasted chicken. And not Mexican-style seasoning. I couldn't detect anything Mexican in it at all, unless it was the nachos. The service is excellent: fast, polite, and welcoming. The atmosphere is cozy. If you don't have too many expectations regarding food, you can have a pleasant evening here with friends and family and fill your stomach.
