Fantastic ambience, exceptional staff, mouth watering carpaccio

Nice place to sit, and the food is also very good for the price. It's a shame that the staff mostly speaks English, which is sometimes difficult for my parents, but we really enjoyed ourselves here.

What we thought was a small restaurant turned out to be spacious, calm and beautifully decorated. It was also fully air conditioned - which was great in a heatwave! The open sandwiches for lunch were fresh and delicious and the fries were very tasty.

Stopped in after doing a bike tour this afternoon and we were very hot and hungry. Everyone was exceptionally nice and quick to get our drinks/food/lunch. The items on the menu were just what we wanted and the drinks ice cold. Once finished we saw the dinner menu and wished we had stopped in later so we could have had dinner, menu again looked wonderful.

Gem of a place in Amsterdam! My husband and I were looking for a nice place to have a sit-down meal and this was a perfect choice. Will definitely return next time we're in town.

Warm welcome; an extra table was added immediately. Very prompt, friendly, and patient service for our group of 15 people. Delicious 3-course menu; however, the 5 people who skipped dessert were not charged. Worth repeating!

Humphreys is next door to the Inntel Hotel in Amsterdam Centraal. Given its location, I was expecting crappy tourist food. But I was pleasantly surprised! Over the course of my stay I ordered the pea soup, apricot crumble, spaghetti with Gorgonzola and artichoke hearts. All of these were FABULOUS! I also ordered the Asian chicken Caesar salad - it was good but not as good as the other dishes. The bread they serve you upon sitting down is superb too. Great wine selection. Reasonable prices. Friendly and helpful staff. No doubt I will make Humphreys my home restaurant when I come to Amsterdam again!

The service was superb!! Correct, professional, friendly, and service-oriented! The food was fine, only the vegetarian main course (mushroom shawarma) was mediocre. In terms of quantity. Otherwise, nothing but praise!!

This is a chain restaurant operating throughout the Netherlands, what's nice is the consistency, you'll know what you're getting regardless of which Humphrey's you enter. Excellent food and service, I have noticed that European dining establishments have included "additional gratuity" on the check when it is presented (or ask you when they are presenting you with their payment handheld "would you like to add anything for the service" which is a little intimidating for many people). Unlike the US where they pay service staff a reduced minimum wage and gratuities are considered to supplement their annual income, in Europe everyone is paid a fair living wage, so in past years it was never expected for customers to leave gratuities, other than perhaps rounding up with a few coins left on the table. In our case service was exceptional at many restaurants we enjoyed in Europe, so leaving extra wasn't a bother, but it is a trend I would have hoped would subside in the US (meaning employers should pay their people a living wage and not shame customers to make up their salaries), having Europe embrace the gratuity culture doesn't help the effort to curb the out of control gratuities in the US.

Although we are fairly familiar with the Humphreys concept in the Netherlands, our visit to Humphreys Amsterdam was a first. And it was a bullseye. A nice and cozy location, great atmosphere, super friendly staff, and last but not least, excellent food. Not a run-of-the-mill menu, but unique dishes with delicious flavors that are affordable too. It makes you happy. So, definitely worth a repeat visit!

There were four of us and everything went smoothly; the staff were fun, professional, and friendly. The weather was beautiful last Thursday, so we were able to eat on the terrace. We had various starters which were delicious; the savory cheesecake with halibut and the beef carpaccio were very unique and good. We also ordered several main courses which were really good, except for the steak on the mixed grill, which was very tough; that was the only downside. We had a lovely evening. Until next time!

Never again for us! The price you pay compared to the food and service you receive is far too high. The portions are not what you would expect for the prices. Perhaps a tourist trap we fell for?

From the outside it looks so small, but once inside there is so much space. Yet, it has a warm and cozy ambiance. The food is delicious for a reasonable price, and the service is very friendly. Definitely worth a repeat visit. We were here on a Monday and it was very busy.

Fusion menu: thai coconut, Indian spices, classic grilled meats, fish dishes, a few vegan options. They have a two course deal and a three course deal. All were delicious! Make a reservation, the place fills in by 630pm.

We had an exceptional time. My only issues are; 1. The table we were seated at was not level and some silverware would easily start to slide towards the edge. 2. When we asked for water, it would have been good to ask if we wanted tap water or bottled water. They brought bottled water which whad to pay for.

I visited yesterday evening for my first meal in Amsterdam. The wait was about 15 minutes, so while waiting, I sat at a table in front and chose my menu while enjoying the complimentary bread. I ordered the set menu consisting of a salmon roll, Dutch North Sea Sol (an additional 15 euros), and banana cake with strawberry sorbet, and paid 57.64 euros including tip. All the food was excellent! Highly recommended!

After 5 days in Amsterdam we found this place. By far the best food, nice staff and cozy atmosphere. Well worth a visit!

So, the last time I was here was over 20 years ago. Back when the distinction between smoking and non-smoking was just the aisle. But a lot has changed since then. Nice decor, excellent food and service. Definitely go!

We had a truly delicious meal at Humpreys Amsterdam! The staff was friendly and the space was very pleasant. I thought the price-quality ratio was excellent, definitely not expensive for what you get. After a busy day in the city, I really appreciated the tranquility of this restaurant, even though there were quite a few occupied tables.

Value for money. The food was excellent, and it arrived quickly. I was a bit disappointed with the dessert, but otherwise, it was excellent.

We are in the age bracket 45 to 55. We just had a wonderful meal in this restaurant. Perfect "mid range" meal, around 100 Euro for two (starter, main and drinks). My husband thought his Mixed grill was one of the best he had and I can say the same about the Asian style duck I have just enjoyed. Very, very good meal. Service and atmosphere is very pleasant. We highly recommend this restaurant, it is far better than the fast style restaurants on the main street.

Reasonably spacious tables, excellent and friendly service. The ambiance is also attractively decorated. A wonderful place to dine in peace and enjoy a good conversation. The dishes are subtly flavorful and the portions are reasonable. For the big eater, there are always plenty of fries and vegetables.

We eat at Humphrey's Amsterdam very often; after a hectic day at work, it's like a warm bath! Excellent service, top-notch hospitality staff, a very relaxed atmosphere, and the food is perfect. Brilliant staff and service, even better food. Free bread and what I think was aioli on arrival and that was lovely. They were also very quick with bringing over an English menu without us having to ask.

I've eaten there several times. The service is excellent, the food is delicious, and the atmosphere is also good. The music is too loud and disco-like from the eighties and nineties, which doesn't fit the atmosphere of the otherwise warmly decorated restaurant at all. I've been coming here for decades, and this has always been a problem. I brought it up again. Furthermore, the menu used to change monthly. Now I learn every three months. That's far too long. I eat regularly, but eating almost four times a quarter gets boring, so I won't go there anymore. Unless it changes me again. In this case, that will be at the end of November. Otherwise, it's a very nice place, nice people, good food, and more than enough portions.

Two women ate a course meal and two drinks and were full. The course meal costs about 39.50 euros, so if you're going with two people, one course meal and sharing is enough. And the staff's faces are so cute. It's unbelievable. I want to go back just to see the fantastic staff.

The place looks good in pictures and seems fancy, but the food standard here was surprisingly low. I attended a company dinner here and got the vegan/vegetarian options but I can easily say that my colleagues who got the meat options were not happier. We waited unnecessarily long for the food to arrive. The "ramen bullion" was extremely unsatisfying and I can tell hand to heart now that their "pomodori risotto" is the worst risotto I had in my life, if I can call that a risotto in the first place. The rice was dry and almost cold, not creamy at all, while the dish was full of toppings like onion rings and pickled onions which had no reason to be there taste-wise. This points to the general problem that some "restaurants" have: they cannot cook a basic dish properly, but they overcrowd the plate with random stuff to make it feel rich and fancy. On top of that, you get bottled water when you ask for tap water at the table and the wine glasses have a white line so the waiters know how much wine to pour which I found very cheap and aesthetically unpleasant. The most important thing in a restaurant is the food, and, if your taste buds have developed, I can strongly recommend against choosing this place.

Das Humphrey's ist ein Partnerlokal vom Intellhotels Amsterdam Center wo wir das Abendessen im Zuge der Halbpension eingenommen haben. Das Personal sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend, Tisch für 2 nicht zu groß aber absolut ausreichend. Das Abendessen bestand aus einem 3 Gänge Menü zu einem Preis von € 40.- ( Für Amsterdam Centrum günstig) . Die Zusammenstellung des Menüs konnte man aus einer Karte selbst vornehmen. Zu Beginn wurde ein relativ großes selbst gebackenes Brot mit Aufstrich gereicht. Hungrig stellt nach den 3 Gängen niemand auf. Alle Gerichte von sehr gute Qualität. Zu den Hauptgängen werden immer ausgezeichnete Pommes, ein asiatischer Gurkensalat und Apfelmus gereicht, welches man alles so oft man will nachbestellen kann (kostenlos). Von uns eine Klare Empfehlung.

Fui 2 veces, una con una reserva de un grupo grande. El sistema de confirmación y la atención fue muy buena. Tomamos el menú de 3 pasos y la opción vegetariana no me gustó mucho. Volví a ir y pedí un plato a la carta que fue excelente. Volvería a ir y a llevar grupos pero insistiría con la opción vegetariana. El lugar es hermoso.

New favorite restaurant. On our most recent visit to Amsterdam we found ourselves walking around looking for a place to eat a little too late on our first night as kitchens were closing. Luckily we walked into Humphrey's 20 minutes before their kitchen closed. The small seating area was nearly full, with a few tables left. They sat the 2 of us immediately and let us know they would take our orders quickly but that we could stay as long as we'd like. The menu is 3-courses, simple yet eclectic. Everything was phenomenal! We were blown away. So much so that when our 2 family members joined us a week later, we made a reservation to return with them. This 2nd time our table was in a room further into the restaurant. We had no idea during our first visit how big the space actually was. The decor we loved in the entry dining room only got better deeper into the restaurant. The experience and food during our 2nd visit was just as great. Between 2 visits (so far) and 4 people, we tried about half of the menu. It looks like the menu changes often, probably seasonally, so we can't wait to return and try something new. We have no doubt it will be delicious!
