Indonesisch Restaurant Long Pura in Jordaan

We tried the chefs rice table. It was really good and well tasty. My only problem was, that the portion sizes were slightly too small. We would have loved another spoon or two of everything.

Really tasty food, occasionally a bit spicy, but there are alternatives here as well.

Outstanding. Reservation online. Door was. Opened for me with warm welcome. I ordered the Vegetarian Rice Table and requested smaller servings as I was solo. I enjoyed the various dishes. The cucumber salad and vegetables in peanut sauce gado gadowas refreshing. The rice was light and fluffy. The eggplant was smooth and delicious, my favorite. The peanut tofu on a skewer was perfect. That sauce added a thick richness to the meal. Another tofu was deep fried with a lighter sauce. There was a broccoli, carrot, vegetable mix dish which added crunch. Every bite was unique. I was ready to roll out and will return to check out their dessert. Beautiful ambiance with attention to detail. The staff are friendly, thoughtful and professional. There was a party of 18, and one couple took a chance as a walk in. They got a table.

Unfortunately this was a poor experience overall, and there are better options out there. We ordered the 1-course rijsttafel and found it very pricey for the amount of food and also lacking in flavour. We are big lovers of all kinds of Asian food and were looking forward for a new experience. Sadly we felt that the dishes tasted bland and thought it could have been so much more... We did not get any good punches of flavour, as if everything was toned down too much to suit a western palate. We get that the amount of spices may need to be toned down a bit to cater to a wider range of clientele, but felt this one missed the sweet spot by quite a bit. Some of the dishes tasted as if they just used the same sauce with a different protein. We figured out the next day that it's possible to get almost twice the amout of food for the same price at another South Asian restaurant not far from there. To make matters worse, as soon as we placed our order, our waiter lost all interest on us, but not before he managed to upsell us some chips with peanut sauce. We felt like he got upset as us for not ordering a whole lot more food. We each had a glass of house wine, which was reasonably priced and a bottle of sparkling water. Overall we paid just under 100€ for just the two of us and left without feeling full and satisfied.

Honestly not worth the price for the quality/portion of food you get. Can find better rice table elsewhere. The food was mediocre at best.

Very attentive and friendly staff. It was my first time eating Indonesian food, but I found it very tasty.

The food was good but drinks arrived when we already started to dine. Additionally, my partner’s cocktail literally had some random floating coconut milk which wasn’t even listed among the ingredients. This resulted in an overly sweet drink that she barely drank to don’t ruin her appetite. The experience was quite average overall.

This was a great option for vegetarian Indonesian food. We shared the vegetarian rice table and had a great meal.

I went with my company colleagues a couple of days ago and being vegan I was a little doubtful if I could have the same foodie experience as the others. I was wrong. Horrible food which gave me a stomach upset within 1 hour of eating my lamb dish. It is so overpriced for what is supposed to be proper Indonesian food but really it is not. Cost 145 euros for 4 main dishes and water. Save your money and your stomach!

The restaurant was fine, but definitely not worth the price in my opinion. The food was decent overall, though nothing really stood out as memorable or exceptional. Service was solid enough, but again, nothing that justified the premium pricing. For what we paid, I expected a much better dining experience. This was the first time my husband and I tried Indonesian food, and we really enjoyed our experience at Long Pura. We shared a rice table (rijsttafels) which was the perfect way to try several dishes. The restaurant has a nice atmosphere and the staff are friendly and seem to speak several languages. They do not serve tap water, so if you want water you will have to pay for it. Dinner for two, with four glasses of wine and a bottle of water was about 120 Euros.

Food was good and authentic. Service was good but the place was really crowded and there were only two people so things took very very long.

We didn't order the two person meals they were pushing, but I feel like we paid for it anyway. The food is great. I ordered the eggplant and my husband ordered the fish. They asked if we wanted rice and we said yes. We ordered drinks and they asked if they could bring us water too and did we want still or sparkling water and we said still. The waiter said he would bring crackers and peanut sauce to the table with our waters. When we received our meals a small bowl of pickled peppers came with it. Everything was excellent. The restaurant is conducive to quiet conversation with your tablemates. When we received our bill we found we were charged for everything separately--making this an expensive meal. What bothered us the most was the 7,5 Euros for a bottle of water when we would have been happy with tap water or no water since we carry our own hydroflasks along with us anyway.

Lots of noise, very expensive, and a chicken soup for 11 euros that had practically no chicken.

We had the rice platter with six people and thoroughly enjoyed it! The lamb with coriander and spicy rendang was our favorite. The service was incredibly friendly; we only had to wait a little while for the drinks and the table. 100% recommended.

I am very happy I dined here because they were able to make my Rijsttafel gluten-free. Also, I was able to order their Rijsttafel as a solo diner. A lot of other restaurants require a 2 person minimum. The food was delicious. So was the strawberry ginger-ale mocktail.

It was really amazing. The settings, design and lightings were on point. The food was really good and the staffs were so warm and welcoming. Great ambiance.

I had never heard of a rice table before going to Amsterdam but now I am a fan! The dessert was great too!

The taste was average; the duck meat was very sweet. There weren't any dishes that I found particularly delicious, but nothing was particularly bad either.

Disclaimer: This was the only Indonesian restaurant I got to try in Amsterdam so I don't have a fair comparison to another establishment in the city. I'm primarily writing this review to commend the amazing, genuine service I got from Udin. He struck the perfect balance of professional and cheerful while I dined solo without the worry of needing to do small talk when I just wanted to fix my hunger. I ordered the lamb in a spicy coconut sauce (dish name: gule kambing) which was paired well with the saffron rice at Udin's recommendation after I had the appetizer steamed and fried bean curd (dish name: saté tahu). The dessert crepe (dish name: Kue Dadar Gulung), however, was an extra indulgence - It was good but not a wow factor because I think it could do without the flour on the plate. Overall, the food was tasty, ambiance peaceful, mostly visited by tourists, and a convenient location.

Everyone is surprised to hear about Indonesian food in the Netherlands, but that surprise quickly turns into delight. You'll feel happy enjoying a satisfying multi-course meal. If you have any questions, the staff will kindly answer them. Reservations are recommended.

After 3 weeks traveling Europe in our last night in Amsterdam I miss Indonesian food so much and I found this place, all the food so delicious even my husband said taste better then Indonesian food he ever tasted in Bali. Highly recommended and we shall be back. Thank you Valentino and the whole team.

I used to live in Indonesia, so I’ve tried a lot of Indonesian food. This was very authentic food and atmosphere. I felt like I’d travelled back to Indonesia. Loved it

An incredibly disappointing visit. The food was absolutely not to our liking. I don't mean to say it was bad, but we just really didn't enjoy it. We barely ate anything, and it wasn't even that cheap. The staff initially seemed friendly and accommodating. But, and I say this with all caution, it felt like a scam. They asked us if we'd like to try something typical Indonesian… we thought it was a nice gesture, but they charged us €15 for it. Steep, in my opinion. After we asked for the bill and paid, the friendliness completely disappeared. I'm used to at least being asked how everything was. After they took my payment, all we got was a "thank you, goodbye"… and then they were gone. I really can't recommend this restaurant.

Good portion of food for Asians like us so we ordered two pax of sate sets, two soups and two mains to share to four of us. Great service!

The food was most disappointing. There was no sign of the subtle spices that make Indonesian food among the most refined in the world. Only the rendang was at least hot/spicy, but without the lemongrass and coconut that should have dominated.

We were a group of 6 and dined here last minute. We ordered the rijsttafel menu €40. Food taste: it was good and you can get the same quality from another Indonesian-run restaurant. Food quantity: it was not worth for the amount that we paid. I do think it will be worth if there are a table of 2 or 4. They won’t give extra food if it’s not enough, but the portions were just too small for bigger groups. Ambience & location: it was good and easily reachable Service: typical Indonesian - warm, friendly and smiling staff Final verdict: it is good for smaller groups, but better to look for other restaurants if you’re a bigger group (4+ pax). You can easily find the same quality and delicious food in another Indonesian-run restaurants. They also do not serve tap water - I always find this a big no as a former restauranteur. I understand that revenue needs to be generated, but no tap water is always a minus for me. It’s 2025 — serve the water when asked.

For me one of the best Indonesian restaurants in the Netherlands, even if a bit pricey.

We were advised to try Indonesian cuisine while in Amsterdam and we were so glad that we lucked into Long Pura. Four of us shared a "rice table", a varied assortment of 7 amazingly spiced dishes plus sides. Friendly attentive service, quiet atmosphere, and absolutely delicious food. Highly recommended!

This restaurant is great! You discover Indonesian flavors, but be aware that some dishes are spicy. A wonderful find! Remember to book ahead as people eat very early (6 pm in Amsterdam).

We came here because we thought the reviews on google were good, but we didn’t like it. We like Indonesia food, and we always enjoy the Indonesia food when we visit Amsterdam. Unfortunately the one we used to go is closed. The taste of the food here is not as tasty as the one we’ve visited before on Spuistraat. The price here is much higher. We are so surprised. I believe there are many more Indonesia restaurants in Amsterdam, we just pick this one unluckily this time. I believe some people will enjoy the food here, but not for us.

For the prices, I personally felt food was not worth it.

Really disappointing after looking forward to Indonesian rice table in Amsterdam for sometime. As another reviewer noted, they just sort of sling the premade food at the tourists and don’t think much else about serving you. the feeling you get is they don’t care whether or not you come back and I guess they have enough business from tourists that don’t bother with reviews that they can keep it going. I hate to write a review like this, but there’s gotta be better Indonesian food out there for a tourist in Amsterdam.

We turned up at the restaurant at 9pm on a busy Saturday night having left a nearby Indonesian restaurant on Herenstraat due to the rudeness of the host. Despite the restaurant being packed they sat us near the bar and managed to find us a table in 10 minutes. The staff were attentive both while we were waiting for our table and during the meal. We took the chef’s rijstafel and all of the quality and taste of the dishes were excellent. Highly recommend!

I am a budget traveler but not a big eater. I enjoy a lots of food with a lots of different restaurants. I do not and will not wanted to come back to this restaurant again. So long and have a good day. Edit after restaurant replied: Yes, 4 adults and everyone pay Er$40 dollars but just received 8 small dishes of meats and with no refill. The size of the dish just like a muffin.Your price was post but you did not show your dish size and say nothing about the no refill even if you are hungry.I feel like this is a rip off.

The food and service were excellent. The atmosphere was certainly okay, but the space is small (narrow). I thought the prices were too high.

The restaurant was very busy every time we had walked passed so we had high expectations - and they were definitely met. Wonderfully warm service, beautiful interior and (most importantly) delicious food. We had the vegetarian rijstafel and it was a fantastic selection of very different, very yummy things. Only sad that we were too full for dessert.

Wow! Been to many Indonesian restaurants, but this was beyond expections! Outstanding food, great presentation (yellow Rice elegantly packed in fresh banana leafs), table full of uniquely flavored traditional dishes. Very friendly and professional service (thanks Anna 😀). My wife and I were walking around Amsterdam looking for a place to eat, and we were not disappointed in our choice! I would recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic, Dutch-Indonesian food experience! We got the vegetarian rice table, complete with tons of sides that were all delicious! We especially liked the tofu dish (dark brown) and the eggplant dish, as both were seasoned wonderfully! The egg dish was also good, and quite spicy. The food was ready in record time, which was also a plus! The staff were extremely accommodating with my food allergies and made sure none of our food had any nut products in it. The staff were also very friendly and knowledgeable about the food they were serving! The only cons were that the meal was quite pricey, and the restaurant did not let us know before ordering that the water would be 7 euros.

We got the famous Rijstaffel and not one item tasted great enough to go back to this place. And the service is ridiculously horrendous. The two male waiters are the worst ones I have ever experienced. Never again.

Very authentic Indonesian food (confirmed by a friend in our group) Generous portions, friendly service, and clear explanations of the menu We ordered the chef’s special course including dessert and it was a lovely experience Even though we were a large group, the staff handled everything professionally and all the dishes were served at perfect timing There was a great variety of choices and flavours, all at a reasonable price One impressive detail was the heating pad with a candle inside placed in the centre of the table to keep the food warm. Tourist trap. The food was good but nothing special when compared to the many other rijsttafel options in Amsterdam. They refuse to serve tap water (we ordered other drinks). They also told us that service is not included and that we had to tip which is a cheap trick used on tourists and dishonest.

This was by far the best culinary experience we've had during our entire vacation in the Netherlands. Food: On the recommendation of the waiter, we opted for the Rice Table, which consists of a bowl of rice for each person and 11 small side dishes. This gives you the chance to try everything the restaurant has to offer. The whole thing still feels like a full meal, which is to be expected given the price per person (€31). A heated plate in the middle of the table keeps the food warm at all times, so you can take your time eating (we were actually there for 2.5 hours, which is quite a lot). We really liked the concept, but also the choice that comes with it. Not only can you choose from three different types of rice, but also between a meat-based and a vegetarian Rice Plate (we chose the latter). All the side dishes were very diverse. We found the different ways of preparing tofu truly impressive. We were truly more than satisfied with the taste. I actually wanted to deduct a star because the water we were served is distributed by Nestlé, but it simply tasted too good. We even ordered dessert. My boyfriend had the crepe dish with mango ice cream, and I had the pudding with vanilla sauce. Everything was perfect, although the pudding was a bit too sweet for me, especially with the sauce and cream on top. After this feast, the bill was correspondingly high. So, for such good quality, you do have to dig a little deeper into your wallet. But in our opinion, it was definitely worth it. Service: It was possible to conveniently make table reservations online at short notice (I would highly recommend it; it was already quite busy when we were there). The service was extremely attentive, even when it was very busy. Since it was our first time there, we were given recommendations and the principle of the rice table was explained again, including what was included. The menu is entirely in English and is very clearly laid out. They kept asking us if we had any requests, how the food tasted, etc. However, especially when the place is full, you should be prepared for waiting times. We had to wait 15-20 minutes for our bill, among other things. Ambience: At first glance, you think you've landed in a 5-star restaurant: chandeliers hanging from the ceiling, very fancy chairs, and classical music in the background. Although they did switch to Christmas music at one point, which we found a bit odd (at the beginning of August). I also wanted to mention the very stylish restroom doors; they were a little highlight for me, I must say. I found the restroom itself to be clean and nicely designed. Overall, it was a very pleasant experience eating here. We'd like to take this opportunity to thank our tour guide, Krijn, for the great recommendation! We would love to go back again right away.

If, like us, you're looking to discover Indonesian cuisine, this is the perfect restaurant. The people are very welcoming and offer good advice for novices. Rather than ordering a single dish, we enjoyed small portions of all the dishes, all the sauces... A real treat, and you're no longer hungry afterward! There are a lot of people who seem to come often, which means it's a great place.

Went with my boyfriend for a saturday night dinner. We had the ‘basic’ rice table vegetarian mixed with meat. It really was amazing! If you like Indonesian food then Long Pura is the place to be. 5 stars

Great service and atmosphere only me and my girlfriend got a very bad case of indigestion and bloating after eating the rice table for two, hope this doesnt happen to often here because the taste was actually great. Couldn't sleep afterwards and had to recover for a whole day from cramps etc. A discount would be in place imho. and please check the kitchen.

We reached here 5 min before the kitchen closed. So we didn't have many options but to go for the fixed rice menu. But that came with so many yummy curries that it left us craving for more Indonesian food. And their coconut milk drink was heavenly! The service was great too!
