We had a wonderful wonderful dinner at Indrapura. The food was some of the best we have had in Amsterdam. We will definitely be back again soon!

The service was as good as you'll get in Amsterdam. We ordered the sampler for~€50 per person, tea, and desert. Everything was delish.

Chose this restaurant after much research on ChatGPT. The food was mediocre and service was horrible and pathetic. Started with reluctance for us to taste the house wine, followed by insistence on ordering more main course. We had ordered 2 apps and 2 mains for a group of 3 people. All food was bought out together with mains being served before the appetizer. No one came to ask if we needed anything. No one asked if we wanted dessert and check was served with all the dirty dishes still On the table! Never seen such horrible service before seems like we discriminated for our skin color.

This was my first visit to Amsterdam, and I was excited to try Indonesian food at Indrapura on Rembrandt Square. Unfortunately, the entire experience was extremely disappointing. The main server was rude and unwelcoming from the moment we arrived. We were a group of three and wanted to order two starters and two main courses to share, but he repeatedly insisted that each person order a separate main course. Throughout the meal, he never once returned to ask whether we needed anything or if we were enjoying our food. The food itself was below average and did not live up to our expectations. I have since heard that Sampurna offers a much better Indonesian dining experience. At the end of the meal, the server did not offer us dessert or ask if we wanted anything else. Instead, while all the dirty dishes were still on our table, he simply presented us with the bill. His dismissive attitude left us feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable, and we could not help but wonder whether we were being treated differently because we were brown-skinned guests. I absolutely loved visiting Amsterdam, but this was a deeply unpleasant experience. Sadly, I would not recommend Indrapura and will definitely not return.

Absolutely disappointing experience. After so much research, decided to go here for dinner. But the reviews dont match the actual experience. The server we had was inattentive and rude to some extent. Didnt get asked if we wanted desert or coffee. We were given the bill to pay before table was cleared. The food was sub-par! Do not recommend going there. Had a better experience at Sampurna. Chatgpt even suggested Karthika. Try those instead.

Beware that they will try to force you into leaving a substantial tip even if not customary. We had dinner tonight and every was fine, nice food, nice atmosphere, until we asked for the check. The total was 79 euros and change. The waiter arrived with the machine for paying with the card preset with a 20% tip. Note that in the Netherlands tips are not required, people can leave them if they want but it is not like in the US. There was no option to skip and not to tip, so we selected the lowest one at 15% which is very high for Europe. We felt we have been deceived and forced into tipping even if it was not required. The young waiter probably targeted us as tourists and played it well. However in my opinion he has been dishonest and ruined the memory of a good dining experience.

It’s an ok restaurant in a very touristy spot. Very friendly staff. The quality of food is mid-scale in comparison to other more high end Indonesian restaurants in The Netherlands, but still good. The price level is high, and they even charge quite a bit for tap-water. So not the best value for money. Maybe as expected in the middle of Rembrandtplein. The waiter kindly asked if we could pay as much as possible in cash, which I thought was weird. They accepted that I chose to pay in full with my card though. The only tip suggestions on the card machine were 15, 20 and 25%, something I’ve never seen in The Netherlands, where normal gratuity is between 5-10%.

The Mee Goreng was overcooked, extremely salty and seemed to have no vegetables. This might have not been so bad but this dish and my cocktail added up to e50, easily the most expensive meal I had in Netherlands.

I had an outstanding dinner at Indrapura. I was dining alone, and the staff kindly prepared the full Indrapura rijsttafel for one, which made the experience feel especially welcoming. The lobster salad was an excellent start—fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The rendang was a definite 10/10: rich, deeply flavorful, and incredibly tender. The lobster and mussels were also exceptional, with a sauce that may have been the best flavor of the entire meal. The lamb was delicious, and although the chicken was not especially crispy, it was still very flavorful. Even the potatoes and accompanying side dishes were memorable. I finished with the dadar gulung, which was excellent and the perfect ending to the meal. The presentation was beautiful, the portions were generous, and the entire experience felt special from beginning to end. One of the best meals I’ve had in Amsterdam. Highly recommended.

This is a lovely Indonesian restaurant with authentic dishes. We love Indonesian food and the dishes we had here were really excellent. The three Satays - chicken, beef and goat - all had different sauces which made them very much individual. My wife’s Rendang and my Goat dish were really tasty and served in huge portions. We couldn’t finish them although we tried our hardest. They came with some interesting little side dishes. Good wine as well and a really charming young server. Do try.

First time ever trying Indonesian food and I’m hooked and I don’t like spicy food at all. The service was amazing. We had the Purnama rice plate and found so many things we loved. The flavors are amazing. This chick is a big fan now. Now to find a good restaurant at home when we return from holiday. We marked our favs.

What a beautiful restaurant! The food was so nostalgic to me because im half Indonesian and my grandma used to cook like this for me. We had one Teh Sosro and one Cendol and the main dishes including. The staff were sooo incredible and kind especially Bruna! If u come here ask for her. And as dessert my favorite thing: Ketan Hitam with ice cream 😋😋 we were sooo full and im definitely coming here again!

We had dinner with our dog, and the staff thoughtfully gave us a great table where we didn't have to worry about disturbing other guests. A special thank you to the waitress who served us that evening. She was incredibly kind and attentive, and we really appreciated her thoughtfulness. The food was absolutely delicious. Every sauce and ingredient was perfectly balanced, and the atmosphere of the restaurant was warm and welcoming. This was the best meal we had during our trip to Amsterdam. We truly hope we'll have the chance to come back again. We were delighted to choose this restaurant for our first Indonesian meal, and it turned out to be a fantastic dining experience. We brought our dog along, and the restaurant thoughtfully arranged a great table for us, so I didn't have to worry about my dog ​​disturbing other guests. We had the rijstaffel (least expensive version). It was very good. I don’t love every dish, but most the fishes worked. It is quite pricey— and everyone was still hungry when we finished. Perhaps the more expensive versions would be more filling. Our real problem was the service. We were at a museum and then walked about a mile to get to the restaurant- and it was warm out. Needless to say, I was quite thirsty and needed some water. We waited 20 minutes before a server came to our table- and I think he only came over because we looked annoyed. When he came over he said “can I help you”. I’m used to that greeting at a clothing store— not so much at a restaurant. I explained that I was in need of water. He then took our drink order and asked what we wanted to eat- so much for pacing. Took quite awhile to finally get that water. Food came out super quick. I asked for another beer, which I never received. He passed our table dozens of times, but never checked in. He seemed to be purposefully avoiding eye contact. I’m not sure the server was entirely to blame, he had way too many tables. If he checked on us we probably would have ordered more food, but they were probably happy to turn the table.

I'm not sure I understand all the great reviews for this place. The food was definitely nothing special. I wouldn't even call it authentic, especially compared to similar restaurants I've visited. Considering what was served, the meal was overpriced. The service was fine until it was time to pay. I intended to leave more than €10 tip on an already expensive bill, but the waitress selected a 15% tip herself instead. That was quite bold and inappropriate. The atmosphere was old and shabby, the seating wasn't particularly comfortable, and the toilets weren't very clean. To be fair, that's fairly common in Amsterdam and not unique to this restaurant. Overall, I won't be coming back.

Amazing food...a must eat place

Delicious Indonesian experience! This was our first time having Indonesian food and we ordered one of the rice table fixed menus. There were so many delicious dishes! From goat to beef to chicken to egg to tofu to vegetables, it was really flavorful. Service was fine but not outstanding, and our reserved table was at a high top in the back when other tables were available. I’d definitely return here and explore more dishes.

Well, what do I think of it? Meh, mediocre. I ordered the 45 euro rijsttafel. The chicken satay was very good, a beautiful explosion of flavors. The rest of the dishes were: 1. Very small mini portions and 2. Very little flavor. In the gado gado, you really had to search for the peanut sauce; there was just a teaspoonful poured over it. I found it too massive, touristy, and factory-like. I had reserved early for 6:00 PM with a friend I hadn't seen in a long time, so we had a lot to catch up on. When we arrived, we were greeted kindly and there were still plenty of tables, but the waitress squeezed us right in between two large, noisy tables. When I asked if we could get a table away from the crowds, her answer was "no, because that one is already reserved." Yes, you can probably guess; nobody showed up there. The table where we really wanted to sit remained empty, and our evening was ruined because the tables to our left and right were particularly noisy. The tables are so close together that you can literally hear everything they say, and the other guests can follow your conversation as well. All in all, I think they are too much on autopilot (tourist) and not focused enough on the real Indonesian experience.

Visited here three days ago on holiday to Amsterdam with a friend. For first impressions of Indonesian food you could not get any better, highly recommending the lamb stew and the gorang is a must have! Cocktails and service were prompt and delicious in equal measure, as well as having cognac for desertif.

We were at Indrapura yesterday, June 4, 2026, for a nice dinner in honor of our mother's birthday (8 people in total), but to our surprise, we didn't get any further than a drink😵 Apparently, you have to order a rijsttafel if you are with more than 6 people. This is not mentioned on the website, was not said during the telephone reservation, and not even upon arrival.... Only after we had placed our order (pp)... in short, if we didn't order a rijsttafel (which costs almost 40 euros pp), she couldn't serve us and we were told to leave!!!😠😡 One plus point: we didn't have to pay for the drinks. But we were with 2 cars, so for just under an hour we were already out 13 euros per car.. Absurd, right! We were truly stunned! You will never see us there again! Regards, Fam Engelbregt en Middel

I’ve had dinner here several times. I do like the taste of authentic Indonesian food here. The Nusantara rice table includes quite a few dishes and comes with a Soto ayam soup or one spring roll as a starter. The staff is always friendly.

One of the best places I've ever been

I really wanted to eat here, partly because I used to deliver wine here weekly 40 years ago. We had made a reservation and had to wait until a table became available. That was on the mezzanine, where it was quite warm. The staff was friendly and helpful. We had a rijsttafel (Indonesian rice table), and when we started eating, it turned out (we only noticed this later) that the food warmer wasn't hot, so the food was cold for half an hour. That was quite a disappointment. The food, by the way, was delicious. What was more disappointing were the rock-hard chairs, which were almost unsustainable after an hour. All in all, a slight letdown.

Unfortunately, we weren't given the opportunity to post a positive review here. During a city tour, this restaurant was recommended to us (two couples from Germany). We reserved a table online for the same day and were really looking forward to it. We were all the more disappointed when, at 6 p.m., we were shown to a table in a very dark corner at the back, even though there were bright and inviting options at the front. The reason given was that we had booked too late. Where were the guests who had booked in advance in the much more pleasant atmosphere? Even after asking several times, there was no other option but to sit in the dark, uncomfortable corner right behind the bar. Disappointed, we left the restaurant. We watched it from outside for a while and didn't see anyone else go in. What a shame, we were prepared to spend a lot of money on the rijsttafel.

I'd read the reviews and wanted to try the Rijsttafel, but unlike what was written previously, you can't share it with two people... unless there are four of you... I was recommended a dish, but I wasn't told it was spicy... otherwise I wouldn't have ordered it; I had to clean the meat and suffer a bit. Also, the waitress started clearing the table for my companion while I was eating... I didn't appreciate it. The fried food smelled bad and tasted like static oil. I spent way too much for what I ate... I would have eaten better at a fast food restaurant.

Very disappointing and concerning experience. I ordered the beef rendang, and the beef appeared undercooked and was extremely difficult to chew, to the point that it caused me to choke while eating. I calmly raised the concern with the staff and clearly said I was still willing to pay, but I wanted them to at least take the feedback seriously and review the cooking quality. I even demonstrated the issue by slicing/cutting the meat with a fork to show that it did not seem properly cooked. Unfortunately, the response was very defensive. They said they had never received a complaint about this dish before, but that does not mean something cannot go wrong on a particular day or with a particular portion. Genuine customer feedback, especially related to food safety and cooking standards, should be handled more responsibly. I paid the bill quietly and left. However, given the seriousness of the incident and my concerns around proper cooking standards, I will also be raising this matter with the relevant food safety authorities.

The food itself is reasonable but nothing special. What I find ridiculous though is in a party of SIX we were limited to picking one of two fixed rijstaffel menus. No à la carte (well technically we were told we could add the occasional dish from them. Had we been a party in the double digits I could understand this but how can a restaurant not cope with a table of just six? If this isn't general policy (although I think it is) then it is possible that one of our party may have inadvertently antagonised a waiter in famously liberal Netherlands by wearing what at first glance appeared to be a MAGA hat but it is pretty obvious he has a chromosomal disorder so I would have hoped allowances would have been made.

No Dutch-speaking staff, only English. When asked if they were learning Dutch? Oh no, that’s not necessary… no Indonesian decoration! There is nothing to complain about regarding the kitchen; that is top quality! But the reception and service are below all standards!

This restaurant is a good example for Murphy's law. Anything that could go wrong, went wrong. 1. There is an unwritten rule (nowhere it is mentioned) that everyone on the table must order a main dish. My friend who wasn't hungry first ordered a satay. But was forced to order a main dish. 2. They won't give you tap water even on request. 3. The food is cold. Steaming from the outside but cold inside. 4. I ordered a veg dish. The menu said there will be a mix of vegetables. But the plate had only a few small pieces of cucumber. 5. We were 5 people. The fifth person's food arrived so late that the other 4 already finished. 6. The waiter had zero regrets and full-on attitude. 7. They put a grill and unnecessary glassware for no reason on your small round table. 8. Very small menu with high priced items. Don't be fooled by the good umami smell when you enter.

We arrived at 5 pm; the restaurant was empty. We wanted to eat an authentic Indo dessert and have a drink. The waitress told us we had to sit at the bar (even though all the tables were empty). When we walked to the bar, we were told to sit right in the furthest corner, uninviting and pushed out of sight. We found this very disappointing. We were really looking forward to a cendol because I am Indonesian myself and was really looking forward to it. But I had already lost my appetite when we were received like that.

Tables are very small considering the number of dishes they serve at one time. Beware the price you are charged as it was about 10% higher than the price on the menu. And if u want water, expect to pay dearly as we were charged 3.75 euros each for tap water. Outrageous.

This has been the most disappointing experience. We were a table of 10 and we had such bad service! We arrived for our reservation time of 7:15 and didn’t even get asked about drinks until almost 8:00 and then no food until 8:30. The rijstafel would have been a good option for a large group but we didn’t get enough food for everyone. The was only one small bowl of cucumber for 9 people! I also think that we didn’t get one of the veggie dishes. Service was so poor and very slow. We didn’t get any explanation for any of the dishes. They ran out of some of the drinks. I understand it’s busy but they should train and add more staff. They didn’t say up front that they want cash and no credit cards. Very unprofessional management. Many of our group very very frustrated and disappointed. DO NOT RECOMMEND!!😠

I was here 8 years ago for the first time and had another visit in 2022. So I'm not a regular here, and my initial review was just 3 stars, no comment. But this visit changed my mind: good service, good recommendation and most of all, very good food. I started with Sate Udang (prawn skewers). Very good, with a nice spicy sauce. My main course was Ayam Panggang (grilled chicken) and that was even better than the starter. Chicken filet with skin, ver tenderly grilled, not dry. Well, I'll be back!

The food is outstanding and bursting with authentic Indonesian flavors, served fresh and piping hot by a friendly team. While the quality is superior to your average Indonesian restaurant, the premium pricing makes the value-for-money feel slightly lower. The interior is beautifully decorated in traditional style, creating a wonderful atmosphere that complements the excellent cuisine.

I know this place for over 30 years. I love the atmosphere and the quality of food. What I didn't appreciate during my last visit is that I asked for a window table and I didn't get it because it was reserved for the owner of the restaurant. Apparently,the owner rather sits at the window instead of taking care of his paying customers! At the end of the day, the owner never showed and the table was empty for most of the evening. We dropped a significant amount of money and I will continue to take my guests there, but you have to clean up your act! Set your priorities straight or customers like me will walk.

Amazing food and experience. The rice table is the way to go. Only thing I would add is the chicken soup. One of the best I’ve ever had! It is in the spicy side so if you don’t like that I’d be cautious. Delicious. 10/10

The food was okay and the beer as well. A bit expensive though. Not much to say. I guess I was expecting something better.

The food here is so legit and authentic. We had a very early train from London and needed some comfort food. The Soto Ayam was lovely and light and reminiscent of my mother-in-law’s, the rest of the food was equally excellent. The atmosphere is beautiful and our waitress was incredibly friendly and helped recommend places to go in Amsterdam.

Outstanding Rijstaffel - lovely staff - good location - 10 minutes on tram 4/14 from Centraal Station. Waitress was helpful and charming - have coffee and digestivo at an outside table and watch the world go by.

Finally, a good Indonesian restaurant! A real one! The food is really delicious, and the staff is very friendly. The atmosphere is pleasant because there's plenty of space, and you can actually hear yourself talk. We ordered a mix of everything, and it was all absolutely excellent. I highly recommend it!

Nice Indonesian food for foreigners

I've been coming here for two years, and unfortunately, this is the first time I've experienced such poor service from an employee. He didn't help us get a better table, even though I had booked two days in advance. The employee told us if we didn't like it, we could leave. Is this the kind of service expected from a restaurant that's considered a trend in Amsterdam and that everyone praises? I urge the restaurant manager to hold the employee accountable for his unprofessional service and lack of courtesy.

The food was great, it was my first time eating Indonesian food, the waiter helped me pick a platter with small meals, I enjoyed every bite. couldn’t recommend the restaurant enough.

Just ok food, rendang was too sweet and cendol was not cooked properly

Went with large group for the rice table. Food was ok but seemed to be short of all the dishes and there wasn't enough for everyone. 10% service agreed for the bill overall but when some people paid there part of the bill another 15% was added. After complaining a refund was forthcoming. Not a good experience l.

Our experience was really bad, the lady waitress was awful and had a terrible attitude, super impolite. If you want good service, I wouldn't recommend this Indonesian restaurant.so far I know Indonesian is super nce, but not this lady exceptional.

I haven't ordered anything yet, but I already left because of the unpleasant behavior of the waiter. A female waitress who served me was very rude and arrogant. The restaurant was short of waiters so it took a long time to serve other customers. even when I entered the female waitress didn't greet us and gave us a scornful glance. What happened to me and my family because they took too long to serve us and we were thirsty and they didn't even provide water so we drank water we brought from outside and the female waitress immediately reprimanded us in a grumpy and impolite manner. In my opinion this place is not worth it.
