Sari Citra in Oude Pijp

Food is very bad. They don't cook, just heat with microwave. They refuse to take visa, I told her I don't have cash. Waited 30 minutes to pay, then she take visa. She chage me 61.50 uro on visa. I think it is too much, I ask itemwise receipt, she didn't give me receipt. She overcharge 7 uro. She refuse to credit back to my visa. Finally she give me 7 uro coin. She never say sorry to me for overcharge. I don't recommend any one to go there. (Sep 14, 2025).

Too bad you can't pay by card...

Beware!!! They don't weigh food; the prices are made up out of thin air. Before you know it, you'll be the loser: €55 for two bowls! Don't go, they'll laugh at you. You'll pay like a millionaire and leave hungry as a beggar at a wedding.

Very terrible place to visit. They scam and charge high interest to you. I even wonder do they don't know how to calculate. I order pepesan (€2.95), obergene sambal (€1.89) and white rice but the price is €13.90. What in the world?!! So is the white rice €10??!! Don't go to this restaurant. Go away guys!! Anyway for your information, the prices that I put here are the one they display on the food menu pamphlet. I DON'T WANNA GIVE EVEN STARS BUT IT'S NOT POSSIBLE. I was disappointed with this restaurant, I came to cure my longing for Indonesian food + wanted to greet fellow Indonesians but all I got was a curt and cold attitude from the shop assistant. I came straight away when I was presented with a very unfriendly attitude from the seller, suddenly I was shouted at to quickly choose the food I wanted to eat. Even when I was enjoying my food, the sales lady was very abusive towards the employees by ordering and shouting at employees who looked new and inexperienced. When I wanted to pay I was forced to pay only in cash, he said because their machine was broken, then I was forced to take cash at the nearest ATM even though it was raining heavily. What really annoyed me was that a few moments later a foreigner came to buy, the seller immediately became very friendly and served the buyer by paying using a card, not playing.

Good store because it is authentic but 18€ for one meat, 3 veggies is too much (I took Chicken/beans/aubergine/friedtempe) So many other warungs it’s €16.5 at most. No bonnetje no price list for samenstellen. When pointing and saying I want she kept asking me another thing. For example I pointed at and said spicy tempeh, she asks spicy or not spicy. I say I want the fresh rice, she gives me the clumpy (dry) one.

On top of that, she was really pushy while I was trying to decide what to eat, telling me to hurry up. And she even yelled at her own staff, which made things even more uncomfortable. It felt like she has some serious attitude issues, thinking she’s better than other Indonesians just because she lives abroad. I’m definitely not going back, and I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone.

I went there since I was curious to try Indonesian food for the first time. I was very unpleasantly surprised by their version of Nasi goreng. The egg was old and hard and nearly made me throw up in the restaurant. In the rice, I found one piece of hair, which just made the experience horrible. Never going there again. To others curious to try Indonesian food, refrain from going there, there's better options!

Sari Citra serves delicious, authentic Asian dishes such as spring rolls and rendang. The service is friendly and fast. Highly recommended for a quick bite or an extensive dinner!

Couldn't wait for kartika's late opening hours so come for sari citra. Food: don't look appetizing and seems been sitting there for a while and not sure how fresh they are. Ordered a rijkstafel at 50 euro for two, and very disappointed at the food quality and price. Beef had a strange taste. Food was highly overpriced for its worth. Pandan layered cake tasted bad and overly sweet. Service was ok. Ambiance was dark, depressing and space cramped. Cash only. Can't recommend this place. If you want Indonesian food in Amsterdam, try another place.

Bunch of scammers! Pay close attention, the food is weighed here and you pay according to weight! Now it comes: two containers are filled with noodles in front of me, overfull because the lid could barely fit. However she did it, both bins were replaced by two half-filled bins using an ordinary exchange trick, which I discovered at home. However, I paid double for it... pure fraud. No matter how delicious the (pricey) food may be, this service certainly does not match it!!

A nice and cozy restaurant that offers homestyle Indonesian food. Everything halal. They are very kind and welcoming and the place is very clean and comfortable. It was the best meal I had in my entire stay in Amsterdam.

Got food from this store today. For 1 pers. small bowl. The price was way too high for the quality. A bit of noodles, 7 pieces of meat, spicy beans and an egg. Way too spicy so you couldn't taste the flavor. Price " euro 14.70 " Already tried different shops in different places. Most of them allow you to choose from 2 different types of meat, egg, spicy beans and skewers, price Euro 11.50. Sorry, but I don't come here anymore.

Quality is just fine for a microwaved meal, but it’s a bit expensive at €19.50 in comparison with other Indonesian restaurants like closeby, which offers better value for money and quality at 10-15 euros.

The warmth of the ladies attending in the store is the winner. Instantly, you’ll feel welcome with their radiant smiles and friendliness. Food is great especially the Tempe kering, Teri balado, beef rendang, beef smoor, oerapan & the Teh Tarik. All very yummy. Definitely will return when we are in Amsterdam next. 👍🏼

Pretty authentic and delicious Indonesian food. There are pictures on the walls of the set menu that you can choose from, otherwise you can “create” your own dish by choosing from the selection of vegetables and meat dishes on display. If you create your own dish, you pay per 100gr. The price is around 13-15€. The place is small, more like a nice small canteen than a real restaurant.

Visited here during my recent trip to Amsterdam - April 2024. After a long day at Kuehenhof, I came out the wrong exit at Djip Station and stumbled across this restaurant. Unassuming from the outside, I was intruiged so I decided to have a look. You can choose from pictures of meals on the wall or create your own with food that is on offer in the display cabinet. It's a canteen style restaurant. The ladies who work here are so friendly. They were really hospitable. For starters I had a portion of Lumpia. It was really nice. I just wished they fried it to order so the outside would be crispy as it would have been nice to have that "crunch!" Flavours were delicious. I chose the Nasi Goreng special which came with beef/a chicken satay, rice, veg, one boiled egg and a potato cake. Really nice meal. Great flavours, filling and good value for money. For afters, I tried the Mocha muffin. Whilst it had a nice subtle taste, it was a bit dry. If the muffin had some icing/frosting, it would have given it a bit of edge. Overall a good experience. Nice, quiet ambience and good service. Would definitely recommend.

I have been getting a tasty portion of food and snacks at Sari Citra for many years when I was in the area or cycling home. The portion size at the time was really a lot and all dishes were authentic and delicious for a great price. I also sent friends or other people to Sari Citra if they want good Indonesian food. Today's Nasi Goreng Rames was a disappointingly smaller portion than I am used to for the money I had to pay. You could see that the container was being filled hastily/indifferently. I was missing a skewer of satay and chicken stew or something, some atjar... like with the standard Nasi or Bami Rames.. In addition, there was 1) no Borrel chicken with rudjak sauce and 2) no seroendeng. 3) The amount of tumis beans was one tablespoon, 4) of the sajur lodeh half a tablespoon. 5) The rendang should have simmered for at least 45 minutes longer. I probably got the last of my vegetables. As an Indo, I know what I'm talking about. By the way, the taste of the dishes was good. (So ​​a plus point) NOTE: I want part of my money back that was not delivered. Or still get it delivered. This is no way to make a profit. Very sorry! Sari Citra was one of my favorites.

Whenever we are in Amsterdam we always find ourselves at Sari Citra. The food is good, pretty authentic tasting. Nothing phenomenal, however, it will definitely satisfy any Indonesian food cravings. The beef rendang is always tender, the spice level is good, the chicken satay is good and the tempe is nice. No sambal available unfortunately. Customer service is good.

Great place for Balinese and Indonesian food in general. Busy with locals. It is not a luxury restaurant nor does it pretend to be. There are few tables and they are crowded. But if you like that type of food it is the ideal place and very close to the center. Highly recommended.

Sari Citra is de ultieme afhaalhemel voor liefhebbers van Indonesisch eten! Het eten is gewoonweg verrukkelijk - van sappige saté tot kruidige rendang. Elke maaltijd is als een smaakexplosie. De afhaalservice is snel en efficiënt, perfect voor wanneer je trek hebt in authentieke Indonesische gerechten zonder het gedoe van koken. Een absolute favoriet voor afhaalmaaltijden die je smaakpapillen verwennen ;) lekker doen Amsterdam 🥢🌶️

There's a large variety to choose from. We made sure to get some sate. We pretty much got a combo platter to split. Very tasty and you wont find food like this in the US as Indonesian restaurants are rare. Look for the fresher bins, though, as this is essentially a buffet.

Vergeleken met andere afhaalrestaurants vond ik het helaas tegenvallen. Vrij prijzig (€15,65 p.p) en matige kwaliteit eten. In Amsterdam Oost zijn betere plekken voor Indonesisch eten te vinden.

We were delighted with our rijstaffel and the opportunity to chat with the three ladies working there. What wonderful people. The place was was recommended by an Indonesian friend of the two friends we were visiting here. A place to celebrate my birthday. You see, I had lived in Holland working back in the 80s and upon this return for vacation I wanted to absolutely have at least one rijstaffel. But I will let the photographs I am attaching speak for me. Highly recommended.

Si estas en Amsterdam creo que es obligado probar uno de los multiples restaurantes indonesios. Aunque nos costo un poco entendernos con la persona del mostrador, al final escogimos uno de los platos de las fotos de la pared. Hay opciones vegetarianas y veganas. Pero cuidado con el picante, el que pedimos nos dijo que no tenia, pero si que habia un poco en la verdura.

Nunca tinha provado comida Indonésia, comecei a provar aqui na Holanda visto que tem muitos restaurantes com comida Indonésia. Sou fã confesso e numa das passagens por Amesterdão fomos almoçar no Sari Citra. Comida muito bem confeccionada, excelentes porções de comida. Uma enorme explosão de sabores. Atendimento muito simpático e bom. Recomendo a passagem por aqui.

Setelah menemukan di google maps. Aku langsung berkunjung ke resto Indonesian food. Lumayan buat mencicipi rinduku pada masakan Indonesia. Meskipun memang beda rasanya dengan asli masakan Indonesia. Tapi menurutku itu sudah lebih dari cukup karena mengingat bahan-bahan bumbu memang cukup sulit dan beda pula dengan apa yang ada di Indonesia.

Niet meer wat het geweest is. Eten flink duurder geworden en het smaakt ook minder. Te zout, en ‘pittig’ was niet pittig. Minder keuze dan voorheen. Tafels waren niet afgeruimd, dan maar afhalen.

While it felt more like a take-away kind of place, and the cleanliness could be better (some crumbs on the chairs, sticky tables) the food felt spectacular, we had 2 Nasi goreng Rames special, in the hostess’s words: the most popular dish here, and boy oh boy were we skeptical at first, but after being served (the food is on heating trays and then gets reheated on a microwave), do not be discouraged, the taste was amazing, i recommend ordering an additional chili sauce to add some spiciness to it, but was really satisfied with the taste and friendliness of our hostess

De prijs-kwaliteit verhouding is helaas echt naar beneden gegaan. Vroeger kwam ik hier nog wel vaker, het was altijd al prijzig maar nu is het echt duur geworden. Je bakje wordt niet volledig gevuld en er werd niet eens gevraagd wat ik wilde. Er kwam meteen witte rijst in het bakje. Wanneer je daar iets van zegt nemen ze je niet serieus, ik kreeg te horen dat ik 'aan het klagen' was. Ik zeg er normaal nooit wat van, maar 14,5 euro voor een bakje met vega gerechten wat maar 70% is gevuld vind ik best prijzig. Helaas konden ze dit niet waarderen, het personeel was erg onvriendelijk. Ik kom hier niet meer terug helaas. Het eten is wel lekker, vandaar alsnog twee sterren.

Weer lekker gegeten bij Sari Citra. Lekker Indonesisch eten, ruime keuze ook voor een vegetariër. Personeel is vriendelijk luistert af en toe niet goed/taalprobleem. Prettige laagdrempelige sfeer maar verwacht geen restaurant ambiance.
