Everything about Aneka Rasa was perfect! We came with 2 adults and 3 kids under 10. The owner recommended 3 orders of the Rijsttafel Aneka which turned perfect. We got chicken, beef, cauliflower, green beans, white rice, fried rice, eggs, and a wonderful welcome! The owners are one of a kind and we immediately felt welcomed. The restaurant is right by Amsterdam Central, and feels like an escape form the busy streets of the canals, even though it's just 1 street over. Come here for a meal!

The Indonesian cuisine at this restaurant is truly authentic and excellent. I loved the Mie Goreng dish and I wasn't disappointed! I highly recommend this restaurant!

We received a warm welcome and the owner's service was truly attentive. The five of us ordered the rijsttafel (rice table)... The satay and acar were good, but the other dishes were unfortunately overcooked and seemed to have been reheated too many times. However, the owner handled the criticism professionally.

The place was practically empty when we entered, not much activity and perhaps very quiet. BUT judging by the reviews, the food would make up for everything... The (co-)owner (clearly a family business with his wife as chef) welcomed us kindly, maintaining his position behind a sort of street-stand table with a menu and a few items on display for sale. He pointed out the menu to us and made it clear that orders had to be placed before a seat could be taken. We did not object to the peculiar state of affairs, something that actually does not belong in a restaurant. After all, you want to be able to quietly look around at the table and discuss what to eat. This practice belongs in snack bars or at a market. But given the friendly treatment, we did not object and let ourselves be guided towards choosing the Indonesian rijsttafel. So, there was absolutely no question of unfriendliness, as other guests who were there before us noted. However, it is worth noting that the host was not always equally attentive and observant and seemed very attached to his spot behind the table with the menu (and presumably a smartphone). The food was served promptly. You would become somewhat suspicious of that in many kitchens, but this kitchen is, of course, known for preparing a great deal in advance. The presentation in small bowls was pleasant; everything looked good. The total quantity was just right for two people, seemed well thought out, and accurately measured. Most dishes lacked a nice aromatic scent. The flavors were sometimes decent, but not refined. A few meat dishes in particular did not seem particularly fresh, with little aroma or flavor. The fried rice turned out a bit too dry on the second attempt, with tough chunks—the suspicion of microwave cooking grew stronger. All things considered, it was still just about sufficient. But definitely not worth 4+ stars. And then came the disqualification: cramps in the early morning and incessant trips to the toilet. Only later did I read reviews from people who experienced the same thing. But still such a high score—for me, every reason to balance that out a bit more.

We were looking for Indonesian food while visiting Amsterdam and came across Aneka Rasa. After reading the menu and reviews, I was really tempted to try the Rijstafel (Rice Table), but instead we decided to order a selection of dishes to share. We had the Rendang Padang, Udang Bakar, Ayam Penyet, Ikan Bakar, and Soto Ayam, and it was the perfect amount for the four of us. Every dish was full of flavour, freshly cooked, and absolutely delicious. It was a great way to experience a variety of authentic Indonesian cuisine, and my whole family really enjoyed every dish. The restaurant got very busy while we were there, but what impressed us most was that it was run by just two people. Jerry looked after all the guests in the front of the restaurant while his wife worked hard in the kitchen preparing every meal. Despite how busy they were, the service was warm and welcoming, and you could really see the passion they put into the food. If you're around Amsterdam Central and fancy something different, I highly recommend giving Aneka Rasa a try. Authentic Indonesian food, generous portions, friendly service, and a wonderful family-run atmosphere. We'll definitely be back the next time we're in Amsterdam!

If six stars were possible, I wouldn't hesitate. I came here five years ago and returned today by chance. Excellent cuisine, just like in Java. Very friendly service, little to no wait, good value for money, pleasant atmosphere, very centrally located, a stone's throw from Central Station and Damrak. An address not to be missed.

One of the best meals I had in Amsterdam! Jerry is an excellent host who explains the process for ordering and makes recommendations based on your taste preferences. I went their twice during my time in the city and it was exceptional with both dishes prepared by Christy being absolutely delicious. Although I didn't get to try the rijsttafel, the dishes that came out looked very tasty. I appreciated the family legacy that is here and the soul that every dish has. You feel like you are part of the family with all of the staff trying to know your name. Highly recommend.

Great flavors and service. The rijsttafel portions for 2 were well-suited as we left with happy and full tummies. We really appreciated that a vegetarian menu was available. Come hungry and ready to savor it all!

You walk in and order before you sit down. The one-page menu shows the a la carte options on the left or the mixed or vegetarian Rijsttafel (rice table) on the right which is an assortment of 8 dishes, plus plain and fried rice, with shrimp chips at 30 euros pp. You have to order a minimum of 2 orders. You'll also have to order your drinks as no tap water will be provided (this is written on the menu). The Rijsttafel for 2 is more than enough for 2 people. We couldn't finish everything. I don't believe the food is made-to-order. Some dishes were pretty good and some were just okay. We went during the heat wave and there is a local a/c unit so try to get a seat on that side of the room that the a/c is facing.

Wonderful place to experience famous Indonesian rice table

Delicious meal! Even though we only had the choice of rice dishes, the food was delicious and made us want to come back to try other specialties. The servers were very pleasant and efficient. A great find!

Wife and I had been to Indonesia in the past and loved the food so decided to pop in here while in Amsterdam. The food was absolutely incredible and right in line with our favorites in Indo. The owners are a husband and wife duo, with him running the full front of house and his wife doing the cooking. A very friendly and honest guy, so good we went twice on our brief trip. Will be back!

Fun and delicious way to get to enjoy a variety of Indonesian foods! My husband and I ordered the Aneka Ricetable along with an order of lumpia and a bottle of wine and it was super delicious. The atmosphere was relaxing and the waiter was highly attentive. I hope to return again on my next trip to Amsterdam!

My first « Rice Table » experience. Feeling happy and satisfied! Food was delicious and flavourful. It takes you on a journey as you take your time to sample each dish. Some familiar tastes, some surprising flavours. The owner and the waiter were very welcoming. You can tell they put love and kindness into what they do. Highly recommend trying out « Rice Table » with them.

Honestly the best authentic experience in Amsterdam

One of the worst restaurant experiences of my life. The waiter got angry when we asked for tap water and demanded to know why he didn't serve it with the food. A tense exchange ensued. Then he refused to sell us bottled water. When I got up to leave, the cook, who had come out of the kitchen, threatened to call the police and demanded we pay the bill. She then tried, more or less, to calm things down, and we sat back down in a tense atmosphere. Instead of apologizing, the waiter came back at us, and we were forced to tell him coldly that we would like to eat in peace and that he should leave us alone. In short, the food wasn't bad at all, but we had a terrible time for 30 euros per person (plus the bottled water).

We had the Rijsttafel that included the meat dishes, and all the dishes were delicious! I think one if the owners was our server. He was friendly and efficient. We'll be here another week, and we're planning to stop by for another meal.

We didn't like the food (we're Italian), but it was good quality. There was a major problem with the door always being open, and it was cold inside at the tables near the door. I recommend installing an automatic door lock.

Very centrally located Indonesian restaurant (less than 10mins walk from Amsterdam Centraal), run by a very nice Indonesian couple. The food was absolutely delicious and the price very fair for the amount. Even though the minimum number of eating guests are two for the rice platter I got served anyway. Pity that you‘re asked to order at the entrance immediate (vegetarian or mixed without knowing what‘s coming).

It’s a cozy husband-and-wife spot: she’s in the kitchen cooking, while he handles everything out front on his own. Service is minimal, so don’t expect much hand-holding. You’ll need to place your order before sitting down. The menu is straightforward—you can choose a set menu or order individual dishes. The food was an explosion of flavor! Mine was so authentic that my whole mouth was on fire. 🌶️ Worth it, but wow, what a kick!

Disappointing Experience – FOOD POISONING & POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE We visited Aneka Rasa on Monday evening — it was our last night in Amsterdam. We ordered 4x Rijsttafel, ayam penyet, soto, opor kuning, rendang padang, and nasi goreng to share (attached some of the photos of the food). Roughly 30 to 45 minutes after the dishes arrived—and after sampling all of them—I was suddenly hit with intense stomach cramps, consistent with food poisoning, and had to abruptly leave the restaurant to rush back to the hotel, leaving my family behind. Initially, we assumed it was an isolated reaction, but by the following day, the rest of our group also began to experience similar symptoms — unfortunately, just in time for our long-haul flights home — 6 to 13 hours flights for different members of our group — was incredibly difficult due to the constant discomfort and the urgent need for restroom access. It significantly impacted the end of our trip and made the return home very unpleasant for all of us. (We visited a pharmacy before our flight and described the symptoms, which were confirmed to be typical of foodborne illness) After checking the tripadvisor reviews, we noticed similar complaints about food poisoning, which we now regret not seeing earlier. In addition to the food poisoning issues. There were 9 of us, plus a 3-year-old. When we arrived, we mentioned we were a group of 9. The restaurant insisted that since we were 9 people, we had to order 9 dishes — which we did. The first group of 7 of us arrived first, and the remaining 2 adults and the toddler joined shortly after - the table was quite cramped after adding a baby chair in it. We politely asked if the last three could be seated at one of the nearby empty tables to allow a bit more space, but the owner declined, stating they would only open another table if we ordered additional dishes — despite the restaurant being far from busy, and even though we had already ordered the required nine meals — not including the toddler, who barely eats. While one of the staff were friendly, the owner was rude and unapproachable. Given what we’ve experienced — and seeing others mention food poisoning in the reviews — we absolutely do not recommend this place. The illness ruined not only our flight but also impacted the rest of our trip through other countries. We don’t usually write negative reviews, but in this case, we feel it’s warranted. We sincerely hope the restaurant takes steps to improve food handling practices, customer care, and overall hygiene to prevent others from going through the same.

I wish there is 0 (zero) star. The owner (Jerry’s) attitude is terrible; he is curt, disrespectful, and outright rude. We had a ridiculous confrontation over something as small as charging a phone. His behavior was unacceptable for someone in the service industry. I do not recommend this restaurant at all, and it will be my first and my last time eating in this place. After reading all the reviews especially the 1-star, I feel relieved to know that I am not alone in experiencing this bad treatment, and can conclude that the restaurant owner's behavior is indeed very unprofessional. He has to learn that his business relied on customers.

I am the wife of Stefanus Bambang Prijono, and I was part of the group dining at Aneka Rasa on March 23rd. The owner's clarification to my husband's review is incorrect; that is not how it happened. From the very beginning, Jerry greeted us with a curt and snappy tone, emphasizing that we had to order food before being seated and that, because there were five of us, we were required to order five dishes. ​When my husband began charging his phone using the power outlet directly behind his seat, he placed the phone on the chair next to him. When Jerry offered to charge the phone inside, my husband took it as a kind gesture, thinking Jerry was simply concerned about the chair being needed for another guest. Later, I also needed to charge my phone, so my husband plugged mine in and placed it on the floor instead of a chair. At that point, my husband was still unaware that Jerry prohibited customers from charging their phones. ​When Jerry returned, he again spoke sharply, saying, 'What I meant was you cannot charge phones here; I am the one paying for this electricity.' My husband took offense and replied, 'Fine, we won’t charge it then.' Jerry snapped back, 'Don't get angry... it will make your food taste bad,' and even challenged us by asking, 'Do you still want the phone inside to be charged or not?' Naturally, this offended my husband further, and he asked for his phone back immediately. ​We do not understand why we were forbidden from using the outlet for even 10 minutes just to keep our phones from dying. If my husband’s phone was taken inside to be charged, wasn't it using the same electricity anyway? The real issue here is Jerry’s attitude and his abrasive tone, which is entirely inappropriate for a customer who should be welcomed with hospitality. After reading other reviews, it is clear that many other customers share the same opinion about Jerry’s behavior, particularly toward Indonesian customers

A restaurant selling Indonesian food that treats Indonesians poorly. The host was arrogant and the attitude towards us was surprisingly disrespectful. Very disappointing.

We chose the mix menu. Everything was full of flavour and the Satay was rallye great. We've particularly appreciated the service and the good vibes of the waiters.

We had a delicious Indonesian meal; all the dishes were full of flavor, and we were served in a respectful and friendly manner. Excellent, and this certainly won't be the last time I come here. This is highly recommended for anyone who loves fine dining in an atmospheric setting where everything is perfect down to the last detail, from the food to the service.

Great and fast service. The host (possible owner) attended us quickly and answered any questions we had. The food was incredible and fresh. My wife has the sweet soy chicken with rice, and I had the fried rice with chicken, beef and shrimp. Definitely recommend dining here!

I was taken back to Jakarta. Phenomenal food - spicy, sweet and tangy, you name it. We got the set menu for 30 euros a person. Worth it! Highly recommend - a must in Amsterdam.

Tried the Indonesian Rijsttafel (rice table), primarily vegetarian with egg. A nice experience overall: a few dishes were really delicious while some felt average, but it’s a great way to sample a wide variety of Indonesian flavors in one meal. The restaurant wasn’t crowded when we visited, so it was comfortable and relaxed. Service was good.

Horror experience, I’m shocked of how rude and unprofessional the host was, we came as two people, he rushed us to order and 3 people came after us and because they looked white they were seated in the front while us in the back and they got their food before us. And when I confronted him 3 times he didn’t even care to talk to us. Then he said don’t be SENSITIVE and Jesus loves you with a very loud and obnoxious voice! And the food was cold.

We had a rice table, and if you're into that kind of thing and miss Galathea Kroen, then this restaurant is highly recommended. The food tastes just as you hope for and remember. Great variety in flavors, small bowls filled with oriental spices and delicious aromas, and the price level is even at the low end of Amsterdam. The place is a bit cafeteria-like, and you can get the feeling that you shouldn't stay seated for too long - new customers are waiting outside the door. But the service is very friendly and efficient in the Asian way, the food comes fairly quickly, and the payment is taken care of before you even have time to tip.

The food itself was a mix of spicy, sweet, and savory flavors as we got the vegetarian rasa that came with rice and 9 different dishes. Small bit simple and charming. I dined alone so I did not want a Big Meal. The chicken saté was just right for a small meal. 2 good sized chicken skewers covered in a great Indonesian peanut sauce, rice, a hard boiled egg and some marinated vegetables. It was just right for a small meal.

There's no such thing as delicious geprek chicken

With "Kantjil en de tijger" (Kantjil and the Tiger), a piece of culinary culture has been lost. Fortunately, there are more good Indonesian restaurants in Amsterdam. We were pleasantly surprised at Aneka Rasa on Warmoesstraat. It wasn't crowded on a Saturday evening, so perhaps it's not as well-known as it should be. Polite service, a delicious rijsttafel (rice table), reasonably priced, and even without the (loud) music, the atmosphere is pleasant.

Nothing special, but expensive for what you get. Not recommended; there are better Indonesian options.

We ordered the small plates to share between two and they were delicious! Everything was flavorful, allowing you to try several different dishes, but be warned that some dishes are quite spicy, so prepare your tongue! 😋 The service was quick, so no complaints, I highly recommend it.

I came here on a Saturday evening and there was quite a long queue. The staff, who turned out to be the owner’s son, told us they were only offering a set menu for our group of three. We ended up loving the food! It totally satisfied my craving for Indonesian food after a week in Europe, haha. Special shout-out to the pepes ikan (steamed fish in banana leaves), such a standout dish!

When there with my friends today, we were separated. Some of us arrived early but they didn’t let us come. The staff were very rude and ask us to leave. The cashier even treated us like we dont have money. Was it because we look asian? Shame on you, Aneka Rasa!

The food was very tasty, even if it didn't stay hot forever, despite the hot plates. The service was very friendly; I just found it a bit of a shame that you have to order as soon as you walk in, meaning you can't relax and browse the menu at your seat. Nevertheless, we were very pleasantly surprised, especially by the food, as both the tofu and jackfruit were deliciously prepared (which, unfortunately, isn't often the case). The price of €30 per person for the rice platter is still quite steep.

Rijsttafel! Always go for the rijsttafel here! You’ll get to try all the best dishes the restaurant has to offer. Came with a group of four, but honestly, we could’ve used twice the people to finish everything. The portions are huge! The vibe is warm and homey, especially for an Indonesian diaspora like me… it’s wonderfully nostalgic. The staff are cheerful, kind, and impressively quick! Our food arrived in just five minutes! Tip: Don’t skip the light bites. I loved the risoles and can’t wait to try more on my next visit. Totally worth traveling all the way from the UK for this experience!

Finally, I was able to find a restaurant that is very Indonesian 😍😍 We were served directly by the owner and was very friendly.. and it was cooked directly by his wife too.. so cool… God is cool (that's what the owner of the restaurant said 🙏🏻) Always be successful…

The rijstaffel is very good, reasonably priced. Having to choose your dish before going to the table is not practical with young children, I felt like I didn't have time to think. As for the atmosphere, we were placed at a large table, right next to other people, I would have preferred to be at a normal table

I was in Amsterdam with my boyfriend for six days and wanted to eat Indonesian rice pudding. The restaurant is in the city center. We entered and waited until we were assigned a table. We were immediately asked to go to the cashier, where a young man held out the menu and told us we had to order directly. I asked if I could please sit down first and read it in peace, as I wasn't familiar with this cuisine, but I was refused. The next guests were standing behind us, so we felt very rushed and ordered. It was discouraged to ask a counter question, and thank goodness we didn't order a rice pudding. The food came very quickly, there was very little of it, and I didn't like it. The atmosphere was almost Christmassy—it was early August—plastic poinsettias, and it was also dirty. I've never written a review before, but this place was a complete rip-off.

Solid 4 star experience here. Enjoyed the food, the rice table variety was super and perfectly proportionate for the two of us. However some dishes were better than the others. I really enjoyed the curry chicken, and the beans as well as the salad. However disliked the taste of the fried rice and the mixed vegetables curry. Also interesting that no dipping sauces were available for the crackers. Overall decent place.
