The food here is good. Everything tastes delicious. The staff speaks English and is friendly! They just need to change the decor; it looks awful at the moment. It lacks atmosphere.

It's a good japanese food restaurant. The variety is Impressive. Okonomiyaki are really good. Among the best I've ever eaten. The rest of the dishes are average compared to what you can find in Japan but for a japanese food restaurant outside Japan, it's hard to find better.

This restaurant is an absolute gem! Rather unassuming from the outside, the first thing you notice upon entering is the interior. It strikes the perfect balance between uninspired and loving, where you immediately know the quality of the food you're about to eat. And this expectation is completely justified, and it's 100% delivered. The menu isn't overly extensive and offers a wide selection of Japanese cuisine, prepared freshly and quickly. From the appetizers to the various main courses and desserts, the food tastes excellent. The selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, tastefully rounds out the offerings. The staff is friendly and accommodating. In summary, an absolute recommendation!

Such a little pearl, nothing too fancy, but real authentic Japanese food and beverages. We enjoyed ramen and the okononlmiyaki, very tasty and freshly made. You can definitely taste that the ingredients are prepared in a different way than in usual Asian restaurants and, only for that reason it is worth a visit! They also catered to my 1 year old, so definitely satisfied and will come back!

I was craving noodles or a curry. 🍛 Then I came across this place. I wasn't from here, but when I got there, it looked good. I ordered the topiyoka squid balls. And the udon curry, to be honest, was a big disappointment. It was tasty, but just too plain. You get udon and some curry, but I really missed vegetables or a piece of meat or fish. So I ordered a side, the gyoza. 🥟 They were very tasty. It's a bit of a shame, to be honest; I would have done it differently if I could.

The food was so delicious. I ordered a rice bowl with chicken and egg, and it tasted so warm and hearty. The spicy chili side was a great add-on; it was both super spicy and super flavorful. The strawberry and sesame ice cream was great. The service was very good. The lady who served us was very nice. She said she was from Tokyo. They have a special vegetarian menu. We will definitely go back.

I had the best okonomiyaki I've ever tasted. Initially, I accidentally ordered a Buta Modan, when I actually wanted a Buta Tama. When I politely pointed this out, the staff didn't mind at all: they immediately adjusted my order, took the Buta Modan back, and made me a delicious Buta Tama. The Buta Tama had a wonderful texture, almost like a pizza, and the taste was truly fantastic. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. The Japanese are known for their hospitality, and you can really see that here. Since I'm currently learning Japanese, I especially enjoyed being able to practice my Japanese with the staff, even though I'm still at a beginner's level. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also very pleasant: the other guests were friendly, and I even met a Japanese family with two incredibly cute children. In short: a warm, welcoming place with delicious food. Highly recommended!

I had the Tonkotsu Shoyu Ramen here and it was honestly the best food I’ve ever eaten. The broth was unbelievably rich and flavorful, perfectly balanced between deep pork umami and shoyu savoriness. The noodles had that perfect bite, and every topping complemented the bowl without overwhelming it. You can taste the care and authenticity in every detail. I’ve had ramen in different places, but nothing even comes close to this. It’s the kind of dish that makes you stop talking and just enjoy every spoonful. Absolute comfort, absolute perfection. I’ll definitely be coming back — this place is a gem.

Amazing place toceat okonomiyaki in a very japanese atmosphere. You really feel like you are in one of those small places in Japan. The service is excellent, the staff is super friendly and the food is great. The okonomiyaki is great, the tonkatsu is something you really have to try. They have a nice selection of sake and the takoyaki are delicious. Nothing bad to say… the place is super authentic.

I've been here several times over the years and each time I find it a real treat to dine there. Their dishes instantly transport you to Japan. The staff is always very friendly.

Had dinner here tonight. Before dinner I saw they had onigiri in the window and bought one. The onigiri was so awful, the rice was hard and was not edible. I sent it back and told the waitress this was not something that should be sold. Later after dinner we got the bill and the onigiri was not listed (good I thought given how awful it was). Only for the waitress to run after us telling us we forgot to pay for it making a huge scene. This is not good of the restaurant who has no right selling food this disgusting and chasing after us to pay for it to. After we spent almost 50 eur already at the restaurant. The waitress was also unfamiliar with the menu and was new but more training is needed on how to handle complaints and basics of the role.

The okonomiyaki takes approximately 30 minutes to prepare. This is also stated on the menu. The okonomiyaki tasted great! At the entrance, they have a small refrigerator with onigiri and snacks.

The food is very delicious and the staff is very friendly. We liked it so much, we came back the day after. All in all I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.

Incredible food and service! They were very accommodating, cooking for us about 30 min before closing time and even letting us stay and eat with them after closing time. The restaurant has a really nice Japanese vibe, and I would absolutely come back daily.

This was my first time eating okonomiyaki, and I'm incredibly glad I did it here. The food arrived incredibly quickly, was incredibly delicious, and very fairly priced. The service was also excellent and very friendly. 100% recommendation!

I went to Ishii several times this year. As a big fan of Ramen, I wouldn’t recommend having all Ramen here. So far, I have tried Jiro, Tsukemen, and Kyoto. I tried many thing hoping that at least one of them would be nice, so I could be the regular customer(As I really love Ramen). But, none of them was ok. I even got super burnt pork on top on Ramen. Also, I don’t recommend Tokatsu. It made me sad all day. The good thing here is Okonomiyaki! Please make sure that you go to the day that they serve Okonomiyaki.

There was a sign saying they don’t accept credit cards, which caught me off guard since I didn’t have any cash. Thankfully, my foreign card (probably a debit) worked fine. The ramen was OK — about what you’d expect from ramen outside Japan: not bad, just different from what you’d find in Japan.

Ishii is probably one of the few places to serve Japanese ramen, and much rarer places, okomiyaki and udon in the Netherlands. The staff and cooks are mostly Japanese and they have done best to make dishes close to Japanese version. The udon should be the highlight due to its clear and simple broth that carries the topping’s flavours impeccably. There are many types of ramen dedicated to different regions in Japan, and you can choose what you feel liking most at that time. The only criticism is the portion size, which is slightly small leaving big eaters like me wanting to eat somewhere else to fill the stomachs.

Very tasty food. Really authentic. When you walk in you probably don't know what to expect and the menu is in Japanese with only very minimal English added, but the food is sublime. Very tasty! Don't expect to be able to order in Dutch, but English will do the trick. Top!

It was a fairly quiet Sunday evening. Food was served quickly. The food was fresh and delicious. Good portions. I only thought the price of the okinimoyaki was a bit on the high side. Nice living room style. Too bad the yuzu ice cream with mochi is only temporary, as far as I'm concerned it should be on the menu permanently. Nice fresh ending.

Great place to taste traditional Japanese Okonomi-yaki. I also recommend the ISHII Modan and the abura soba. The service was always friendly. The restaurant is located in a quiet area with parking nearby and I consider it a rare find, one of my favorites in the area.

I think this place is quite underrated, overshadowed with a lot of much more newer places. Amstelveen never dissapoints for the japanese food and exclusively this one! Used to be my favorite for okonomiyaki in several japanese food events, but never expected their Ramen is top notch!! the broth is really rich, really tasty, and the pork is really good, it has glazed of the sauce and just perfect. reminds me of Ramen Kingdom that already closed.. Let's gatekeep this place next time ill try another menu! Recommend: Tontkotsu Hakata style! to taste purely the amazing broth! and noodle is just perfect!

What a gem. You just passing by a shopping mall with tens of Asian restaurant. I walked in and I immediately felt like in korea. Wow. Initially was sent off as they were fully booked but the owner in a minutes walked out and shout Sir, I find a table! I’m so glad he did.amazing food - but what was the most mind blowing was their Kimchi. I never had a better kimchi in my life. I’m serious. I had loads of Korean food but this is real..Not just a restaurant stuff but real.. real stuff. Bold in taste, great presentation and super friendly staff. Well done. Overall amazing and if I’ll have a chance I’ll be more that happy to come back. Well done everyone - great place to go

The fried squid and chashu was good. The Okonomi-yaki is okay, honestly nothing special. The food portion was a bit smaller than I thought and took us more than an hour unfortunately but they told us that it was going to take longer than usual! I wouldn't visit again but it's a nice restaurant if you are living near by 😌

Horrible service! We arrived at 12:30 and still nothing received after 30 minutes. But another table ordered same food got the food much earlier and they were even later than me. They argued that the food is different but I saw that table was actually having the similar food. I guess they didn’t make the food for me even.

We went at 19:30 and they told us that It is fullybooked, so we ate in a restaurant very closed, and we have not seen anybody go in. We cannot understand why, It was empty all the time and they wanted not to provide us a table.

Those thicker firm noodles were special, almost al-dente style. Excellent dishes such as okonomiyaki and takoyaki.

Food is not bad, but in my opnion VERY expensive for what you get. Portions are very small for the price of a full meal. Many different alternatives with better quality and price in Amstelveen. Also the food took very long to be made and could still eat after the lunch as it was verys mall portion. Would defintely not recommand.

Tried the katsui curry, chicken. It was cold. Sent it back. Came back as pork. Kitchen staff completely indifferent to this and not even an apology from them. No attempt to compensate. Only the young waiter seemed apologetic. very disappointing

Consistently excellent food and very friendly staff. We eat here maybe once a month and always enjoy our time here. Highly recommend. Our faves are the niku udon (beef) and the katsu curry rice.

Price quality does not match, small ramen with 2 small pieces of chicken. Other ramen 1 piece of pork. A little salt and few vegetables.

Came here because of the okonomiyaki and tsuke-men. Unfortunately, it was busy so they limit only 1 okonomiyaki per table. Taste wise, very authentic. The tsuke-men broth is just nice, not too thick not too thin. A hint of fish stock, gives you different flavour to your usual Ramen in NL. Still cooked and managed by Japanese.

My girls and I ordered three bowls of noodles. Different soup bases are all salty. And it's completely unreasonable to have two “shredded” beef for one beef udon(€18). Finally, we saw a mouse running through the restaurant , so we hurriedly checked out and left.

The food was excellent en service super friendly. Only strange that a restaurant that bears the title of being a Okonomiyaki reastaurant was not able to make more than two Okonomiyaki dishes at the same time for our group of four. So I was really eager in eating Okonomiyaki, but ended up ordering something else as two other of the group already ordered it. Still the food I got was excellent and reminded me of Japan

Was here with my wife. Had a ramen and teppanyaki but the food was just bland and no taste ( to instant food taste)

I’ve just ordered a ramen for take out. After waiting long it came clear that my order was not registered. I have paid for a noodles and bouillon 17€ without a pork!!! Worst expensive experience ever, never come back here again and don’t recommend it.

Katsu don was a bit too salty too greasy. Egg was overly cooked. Normally it shall be halfly cooked. Pork was tendor very gentle, but the batter was missi bread crumbs. Little pitty. Rice was good. Not too soft while the rice stickiness was remained nicely. Don't get me wrong, it is still great dish compare to other restaurants. Taco yaki was very great and excellent. Mushy inside and a little crunchy outside. Gyoza yaki can taste the touches of its "homemade" flavour. Sesame oil was a good touch of flagrant as a little surprise. The service and environment were excellent. Feel like home.

Food was alright. Katsu was fried too long so it was a bit dry. The chashu had a different flavor than the normal chashu. Ramen was alright. Takoyaki was good. Overall, it was alright.

This is the best noodle soup I have ever eaten in the Netherlands. The noodles are homemade and the soup reminds me of the taste I had in Tokio. The okonomiyaki is the only one that can be eaten here and it tastes very good.

This is a rare restaurant where you can eat okonomiyaki in the Netherlands. The taste of all the dishes is amazing, no different from the food you would eat in Japan. When I asked the staff, I was told that the owner regularly takes his employees on training trips to Japan. I felt that this place could be described as an authentic Japanese restaurant. It's completely different from your typical Chinese-Japanese restaurant. I was very impressed with the average price and the friendly staff.

Authentic Japanese food in a simple environment, not a high-end menu but original ramen or, for example, an Okonimiyaki (Japanese pancake with cabbage and many variations). Lots of Japanese guests, so the right place. Hospitable service.

When I came from Brussels and ordered the Jiro-style ramen that I was looking forward to, I was told that they couldn't make it because they didn't have cabbage. I had no choice but to order katsudon and ginger grilled pork, but it was terrible. The onions used in the katsudon still have their skin on, and they have almost no flavor. The cutlet was too fried and the outside was crunchy. The ginger pork was so flavorful that I couldn't even eat it properly. The ramen my friend ordered was also not of high quality. The menu has too many contents and is losing quality, the contents should be narrowed down. If you can't serve a decent dish, you should omit it from the menu. I'll never go again

So far everything i have eaten here has been a delightful experinece. Their Tonkatsu is the best i have ever had, the Chashu is really tender but extremly flavourful. The broth is a rich and deep flavour. Looking forward to my next visit.

Nice simple restaurant with friendly staff. It was a bit chilly in the restaurant though, but the okonomiyaki was tasty, I had the seafood which was a mix small shrimps and squid.

Great to be able to have some authentic Japanese food again. Okonomiyaki will always be one of my favourite foods, although i do think Osaka style okonomiyaki is tastier. Gyoza and karaage were also good, although the karaage is much smaller than what I'm used to. Interior could use an update and staff could warm up a bit to get that real izakaya feel. 🏮 Do try it when you're around!

Lovely young lady working here. Food is good, except for the fried fish shaped "pancake" with redbean paste. It's fried instead of baked, making it oily. Also the whipped cream with the desserts is not as yummy. A bit watery and thin. All other dished were yummy! Takoyaki was exactly what I expected. Delish!
